We thought it was going to be a pain to use them but it wasn't really a big deal after all. Service was a bit on the slower side at first because they were slammed but once we ordered, things came out fast and our server was very friendly. We were also very happy that they had AC. My husband ordered garlic shrimp and a beer, and I ordered a quesadilla from the kids' menu - I ordered a Big Wave but they only had it in the can. Overall, this place was good. I stopped into Mea Inu Bar & Grill at Lihue Airport for a couple of cocktails before my flight back to Oahu. Located to the two-o-clock position after coming through security, Mea Inu offers a quiet and cool place to await your flight. Dana took excellent care of me and was happy to pack up some big eye tuna poke to go without rice so I could keep it low-carb. The poke was excellent. It featured fresh, high-quality big eye tuna with a nice balance of shoyu, sesame, red onion, and crispy fried shallots on top. Even packed to go in a compostable container, it held up well and made for a tasty, satisfying meal on my Southwest flight. An unplanned three-hour layover because our flight to San Francisco was delayed by plane maintenance issues. We didn't have time to eat lunch at Honolulu Airport, so Jamie W and I decided to come in here to dine. It was one of only two places to eat here, so it was a roll of the dice. We decided to plant ourselves at the bar since it looked like the bartender was pulling double duty as a food server. She was quite welcoming. Obviously used to tourists suddenly dropping in to eat and drink, she encountered two customers who were fortunately we were in the mood for both. I perused the cocktail menu and ordered the $24.49 Mango Mountain Colada. It was a pricey but enticing mix of two different coconut rums, mango puree, coconut water, and pineapple & lime juices topped with toasted coconut flakes (Photo 7). Jamie settled for a Diet Coke before we ordered our lunch plates. He went for the $23.99 Chicken Caesar Salad. The romaine, croutons, and Caesar dressing were fully expected. The surprise elements were the chopped tomato, smoked bacon, and generous portion of fire-braised chicken.breast (Photo 8). It was filling but not more than the $18.99 Fried Noodles I ordered. It consisted of a hefty pile of Hawaiian-style fried noodles mixed with spam, fishcake, shredded cabbage, scallion, and sesame soy sauce, and bits of the same fire-braised chicken (Photo 9). It was a satisfying end to our week of local plate cuisine. Unfortunately the only good thing about this restaurant is the AC, and I think the kitchen relies on that. I don't think I've ever had fries as bad as here; my oven could do better. In the airport and had 2 hours to kill so we stopped in. The food was really good, the Ahi bowl is huge and the Luau plate was really good. Our granddaughter had the chicken strips and said they were some of the best she's had and that's saying something. The service was on the slow side but we weren't in any hurry so no big deal. This place is in the airport at Kauai it's pretty quiet in there not to much noise you do get a view of the plane's landing and coming back to the gates. I had the bbq pulled pork sandwiches and it came with fries so that was a plus. The sandwich itself was pretty dry and no flavor unless you had the bbq sauce on it which I think they should've mixed the bbq sauce with the pulled pork so it had a lot more flavor. I ate here because I had several hours before my flight back home from Kauai to Los Angeles. It was conveniently located closest to our gate so we wanted a sit down meal to properly eat before we took off. We walked in and we conveniently saw that there were 2 seats available at the bar. So we swooped in quickly to sit there. The experience was spectacular because where we sat all the waitresses came in and out to get chatty and joke around with the funny bartender lady on duty that day. So it was fun hearing about all their silly banter and inside jokes they were saying to each other that only we could hear since we were sitting right front and center where the action happened. The bartender was also great at chatting with us and keeping us entertained throughout our 2 hour meal. Plus, the food that we ordered were perfectly made to wrap up the week long trip in Kauai and wrap up as the last meal on the island. I had their Portugese Soup...SUPERB! It was exactly what I was craving and it hit the spot! I also got their Chicken Cesar Salad and that had the perfect crisp and freshness to balance the soup. I was so happy with my meal. Had lowwww expectations for an airport restaurant. But, holy cow, it was SO GOOD. We had the poke nachos and the ahi BLT. I also had the Pog cocktail. Kids had chicken fingers and were plenty happy with that. Definitely get one last ahi tuna fix at this restaurant before leaving paradise. The drink was excellent too, and even had an orchid in it. And our server was excellent. I thought I wrote down her name in my phone because she was so good I wanted to be sure to mention her in my review, but it auto corrected to Meta. As expected, the food would be way overpriced, so you're really paying to sit by the window to look at airplanes while having a drink and/or something to munch on. We got the nachos and it's a whopping $22. The meat and seasoning were good but boy those chips were stale... I don't like it when restaurants try to get rid of stale chips in nachos. I've seen many times, so definitely appreciate when one uses fresh and crispy chips, sadly not in this case but I'm at a small airport in Hawaii, I can't expect too much. Food and drinks came out fairly quick. We sat at a window seat high top table and watched the planes come in and out. The three of us decided to grab some food before our red eye flight home... but I wasn't expecting much from an airport restaurant and my intuition was right. The first thing the waitress told us was that they didn't have any items on the menu that had fish.. they were out. So that took about half the options off the table. This is a decent restaurant at Lihue Airport, located next to Starbucks. Their menu is fairly small, but they do have a lot of tables even though it looks tiny from the outside. The servers are fairly knowledgeable if you have questions. Unfortunately, due to having celiac disease, the only thing my wife could eat on the menu was a grilled chicken caesar salad. But we were glad that the server understood what we were asking about, unlike so many other places we've been to! At least the salad looked pretty fresh! My husband and I went here after the sports bar at the airport said they couldn't accommodate my gluten free needs and suggested going here. The only item I could eat here was the grilled chicken Caesar salad without croutons for $18.49 and my husband had the $19.99 loco moco. Bartender did a fantastic job making the drinks but her coworker let her down. We originally sat at a corner spot near the tables but quickly noticed there were no charging outlets. Once a bar spot opened we took the opportunity to sit at the bar and charge our devices. After a few drinks we tried to get the check, but the bartender couldn't do it because of our original seating location.
