We stayed 2 different nights on the way up to NH and the way back. Tru allows pets which is great for our 2 dogs. The rooms were very clean and the morning complementary breakfast had great variety. The folks at the counter, especially Ahmed, were extremely welcoming. Great location -- close to I-84, but far enough that you don't hear any traffic. We will definitely stay again. read more

Location: there are stores and restaurants conveniently located nearby. It has its own self parking lot. During the 4 days we were here we always had a parking spot close to the entrance. Customer service: the staff were pleasant and usually greeted us when leaving or arriving. We did have an issue with our mini fridge on our 2nd day. It wasn't cold and we only discovered this when returning to our room late at night. Our options were to switch rooms or store our food in the break room fridge. Of course it was too much of an in to pack up all our things and switch rooms. I wish they could've switched the mini fridge with one that worked. The complimentary breakfast was basic but had decent options (make your own pancakes, eggs, meat such as sausage patty, fruits such as apples, bananas, and cereal and oatmeal. The breakfast area was kept clean. There is also a communal microwave which was also kept clean. I do very much appreciate the hot tea and coffee station that they kept filled. I wished there was a self service laundry on site. They do have a small gym. Overall I would stay here again. read more

This hotel is the BEST overall hotel I've EVER stayed in for its price point, and it's not even a close 2nd. You can tell that its staff take great pride in its appearance and management. This hotel is absolutely SPOTLESS. The room when I walked in smelt great when I arrived, and it was very well maintained. No part of my room was dirty, and it felt like no one had ever been in it before. If you've stayed at a Tru by Hilton, you know what to expect amenities wise. If not, the hotel is a trendy modern decorated hotel (appeals to millennial and Gen Zs but great location for all ages) that has an inviting lobby area with foosball tables, televison, free coffee/tea and tons of comfortable group seating. They dont have a pool (sorry for families with kids), but they do have a small by satisfactory fitness center. Near the fitness center they a water bottle refill station, and the front desk has various items that you could forget before leaving. If you have to go here for business, they have private pods in the lobby with outlet strips under the seat so you can do your work with privacy. Otherwise, you can sit at high top tables with usb/outlet strips to charge while enjoying free breakfast. Free breakfast - The breakfast is free, and the options change EVERY day. Which makes it great for kids and budget travelers like me. This hotel offers some sort of egg choice and a protein (they had kielbasa, sausage links, sausage patties, bacon, and more while I was there). They have an automatic pancake maker and other traditional continental breakfast options to satisfy your appetite. Throughout our stay, we asked for additional needs here and there. Whether it was headphones for my work computer, extra garbage bags, or additional blankets. The staff did not give us a hard time, helped us immediately, and did it with a helpful and positive attitude. Due to our extended stay, we had a lot of trash to dispose of. When I brought it to the lobby, a staff member helped me put it in a bin that would hold it or take it for me. The manager (I believe) or the primary person at the front desk in the mornings was the BEST person I've ever interacted with at a hotel. He was pleasant. He was cheerful. And he remembered things you've talked about prior in regards to personal small talk conversations we had. That personal touch that you don't normally receive from any hotel goes a long way, and it really sets your day on a friendly footing. Forgot anything? This hotel is like 2 mins from EVERY major store and 5 mins from the WallKill mall, which my daughter and I went to. In a post COVID world, the WallKill mall is one of the best I've visited in the New England/NY area. There is also a Walmart and Target nearby, too. This place is an absolute treasure to stay at. The prices were extremely good (not far from LegoLand), and it has everything you need from a hotel. Plus, the staff make you feel like you're visiting your favorite local restaurant or store. I enjoy the Tru line of hotels by Hilton. This location is like other Tru locations I've had the good fortune of visiting, clean, modern, with easy access to parking. The rooms are on the smaller side but there's always a desk with rollers so that you can work from the chair or bed. They also have a large TV and well appointed bathroom (shower only, no bathtub). Tru by Hilton hotels always have stellar areas to work in their lobby, even offering little quiet cubbies to work in that dampen the sound so you can easily take a call or focus without excess noise distracting. They also have a wonderful snack selection for the late night snacking needs! The parking lot is easy to get in and out of and is well lit For my business traveling needs, this hotel was great! Since the rooms are on the smaller side, not sure I'd recommend this for families (unless you were strictly sleeping at the hotel and then adventuring around). Even for my husband and I, we'd probably prefer something a bit more spacious. For professional travelers, though? Aces. read more

I booked for two nights, Sat and Sun, and the price was double for Sat night! Also, it was double what it was last weekend! There is apparently no standard rate here... and not much of a discount for Hilton members. The exchange for points for a hotel room seems out of reach, in other words i don't seem to be able to accrue enough points for a night anywhere near the speed i could earn a free night on a 3rd party app. The lobby is colorful but seems a bit cold. I was able to check in through the app and get a digital key which may seem like a convenience at first and yet reminds me that switching to automatic cuts out the human experience as well as jobs. The room layout is weird in that there is an open bar with hangers for shorter clothes(no dresses or long coats) and sits right above the counter which has the fridge under it... so i would use that for snacks and drinks etc, but won't hang my clothes there! Yet, I love the 6 hooks on the wall! The room overall was super clean, comfy bedding, good black-out shades. It has a modern, minimalistic feel which is a bit cold to me. The tv is huge. There is a little fridge which i unplugged because it is humming very loudly. The thermostat system seems to work though when i walked in the a/c was on and it was like an icebox. The towels are soft and there is bulk refillable soap, shampoo and conditioner on the wall in the shower eliminating countless tiny plastic bottles which i am happy about. I heard my neighbors talking and snoring all night- paper-thin walls!!! There is a bright exercise room which you can see into from the parking lot. Also, even as a hiltons honor member i still have to pay $4.95 for internet if i want to stream or download! The young man at the front desk was friendly and greeted me as i entered. Human interaction, this simple friendly welcome is why i gave this hotel 4 stars. read more

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Middletown, NY in November 2024. I checked in, dropped off my belongings and left for a meeting. When I returned to my hotel room, I discovered that the room was not clean. I explained the problem to the person at the front desk and I was moved to another room. That second room reeked of body odor. I was moved to a third room. I didn't trust that the room had been cleaned, so at 10:00 PM, I went to Walmart and bought gloves, bleach and Lysol to clean the room. When I returned home, I contacted Hilton. "Sincere apologies" were made, and I received a "Be My Guest Certificate" via USPS. April 24, 2025, I had a family emergency in Middletown. I tried to make a Hilton reservation using the certificate, only to find out that there is NO Hilton Garden property in Middletown. According to the phone reservation person, I could use the certificate at any Hilton property in Middletown, but none of the Hilton properties had rooms available. Using AAA's website, I found a room at the Tru by Hilton in Middletown. When I tried to check in and apply the certificate to my reservation, the property manager said, "Someone gave you the wrong information. One million apologies, but the certificate is good ONLY at a Hilton Garden Inn hotel." Hilton has become very good at issuing "millions of apologies." The quality of their properties and their problem resolution abilities has dropped. Given the hassles, I will not ever recommend Hilton chains. read more

The room HVAC and fridge both made terrible clicking noises when they cycled on but other than that the room accommodations were great. Okay breakfast, and decently comfortable beds. However the bathroom is quite lacking, it has minimal amenities and very low quality amenities as well. Maybe the worst quality toilet paper I have ever seen, as it's very thin one ply that is barely functional. Terrible coffee that is only flavor is bitter and burnt. Stayed there for one night and I will never be going back to a Tru by Hilton, it looks okay at first but is quite disappointing. Not the type of hotel that cares about guest experience either, as the staff is inflexible and the lack of amenities make it only marginally better than sleeping in one's car. read more

Changed my room and found this room was just as bad. Hair all over the shower. No soap. Previous guests hair ties still sitting there. Stained towels dirty floors. I chose a Hilton property thinking I would have good nights stay. WRONG. Entire third floor smells like weed. What a joke. I will never book another Hilton property. Not bad, but nothing to write home about either. They had the usual amenities and I thought their gym facility was pleasant. My favorite aspect was their lobby area, as I spent most of my "down time" editing what I had shot from the air show and drinking copious amounts of delicious, local beer. My room was clean and comfortable. Naturally, because of COVID, they were not regularly taking away my trash, but that wasn't a huge deal since I was only staying a few nights. I would stay here again if I work/play brought me to this area. read more

This place will never see us again. Nor will I ever recommend to anyone! We drove from Riverdale, NY all the way there... chose this place over 3 others because of its vibrate/colorful decor... thought it'll be great being that we have an adolescent daughter... I walk in 2:45pm. I greet the young lady. I get NOTHING. My daughter then walks in & greets... she gets NOTHING. My wife is the last to walk in (and now I am waiting to see her reaction to my wife) my wife greets... NOTHING!!! She proceeds to ask my wife for name & info... no eye contact. As I notice she has ear pods on and is tapping her cell phone as to pause a call or music... we get our room cards... & that is it! No "welcome" no input about amenities... NOTHING!!! As my wife and daughter head toward the elevator I stay behind to observe how she handles the next guest. A white woman comes in and with out hesitation she greets this woman with "Hello... welcome" I immediately tell her... "do you realize we did not get the same welcome!?" She replies yes you did. As she was THEN taking off her ear pods. I simply walked away. I come back down to buy snacks & a coffee it is now 20 minutes later & a gentleman is now at the reception desk. A guest walks in he quickly greets them, takes their information, gives them their cards... EXPLAINS in detail about the complimentary breakfast & lounge area... all of which we NEVER heard nor received. I am 51 years old and I get how these young kids work but for my daughter to have witnessed us not being acknowledged I can not accept! I waited for the gentleman to finish, when he did I introduced my self and explained to him our experience. He apologized & said "it should not have happen, we are the FACE of this brand" I thanked him for the apology and asked him for his name. Milton. Milton did his job. Milton was cordial to everyone in that lobby. Who ever that young lady was (black hair, working Saturday April 30 at 2:45pm) need a course in hospitality. The hotel is basic and clean. We had very unfortunate events and the staff was not helpful at all. They were very disrespectful and unprofessional. We made reservations at this hotel given the Hilton reputation and would never stay with them again. We would not recommend this chain to any of our friends or family ever. My family & I stay at the Tru by Hilton in Middletown NY a week ago. I'm giving four stars because the staff was so hospitable. Especially the Night Auditor KJ. She is so kind, patient and she was constantly cleaning the hotel lobby. I have a couple of requests. It seems since COVID restrictions are no more, some businesses no longer implement the importance of daily cleaning. My room appeared clean however, I can smell the pet stench when I opened the door. Thankful my daughter bought her Bath & Body cologne collection!!! The other thing is there were finger prints all over the elevators and the floors needed mopping. Overall I really enjoyed my stay but management needs to address the issues I mentioned. read more

I love the use of large refillable shower products and the filtered water station (to help reduce plastic bottle use). The complimentary breakfast is delish as well as the coffee/tea service in the lobby. The comfortable swinging chairs in the lobby would rock an insomniac to sleep! Upon arrival, the hospitality and great conversation with Laura made it feel like O was "coming home"...and after 30yrs away, what a gift! The hotel is an easy access from the highway, and entering the lobby from the parking lot (parking up front) was effortleas. Lots of baggage carts available, and super fast check in. The coffee and hot water meant the world to this Florida transplanted NY'er! Hot and ready to go all day long. The lobby office pods were ideal for keeping biz flowing and making phone calls. The bed was great. No need to ask for extra pillows. Ample soaps and personal care products. Great rate amd qorth at least triple! I WILL BE BACK read more

I am a Hilton Diamond but had never stayed at a Tru before. I was pleasantly surprised by the value for the price of the chain. Rooms might be a little different than normal hotel rooms but I found it very nice, clean, and modern. I may not want to stay at one for a long stay because of the lack of a closet and dresser but it was perfect for a few nights. I would definitely recommend trying the hotel out. read more

For me it comes down to Cleanliness, Amenities and Location (Location is two parts, security and surrounding area for food). Cleanliness is the biggest thing for me. When I check in to a Hilton brand hotel I EXPECT to see that "Hilton Seal" on my door. I know for a FACT that my room is clean. This is the first hotel that I've been to since Hilton instituted that policy that has NOT put a seal on the door. The manager on duty said that they DO NOT do that anymore. This was very disturbing to me. The manager assured me that the rooms are sanitary and clean. Secondly the TV lacked any normal channels, the only channels worthwhile to watch were Animal Planet and Ion TV. NO FoxNews, only FakeNews cnn. I was enjoying my 5 night stay until day 3 and I met the evening clerk; Jasmine. Sitting at the front desk with a fuzzy hat a snuggie on fully wrapped in a blanket headphones playing on her cell phone. Like she was in her living room eating bon bons. I politely asked "is it possible to get fresh hot water; it's cold in there." So she gets a cup and comes back and try to hand it to me. "No I wanted it out the pot!" She tells me but it the same thing. No it's not your breathing on it, Its exposed with no lid on it! Again she's says but I don't understand it's the same thing slams the cup on the counter turns her back to me and go wrap herself back in her blanket put her heads phone back on and went back to playing on her phone. Uncalled for rude and unprofessional behavior. Covid is still a thing and hand washing and protecting ourselves I shouldn't feel like I'm disturbing an employee on the clock from doing her job. it does say 24hr 7days a week complimentary coffe and tea. I booked two rooms for my family through Hotwire. I had originally booked a different hotel but that hotel had disgusting reviews, so I booked with this one. Upon arrival you could see the place is new. The lobby simply gorgeous,clean, modern with plenty of space to relax and do things. game room,a nice little gym, snack area,filtered water, ice. The rooms were clean & modern. Nice Big wide screen TV, clock radio, adequate lighting cleaned shades very quiet at night very secure locks were perfect shower was super clean plenty of soap and clean towels. Just a pleasure to stay at this hotel. I came here with my family- my son and his new fiancé and she was happy I booked here also. The morning breakfast was very adequate & it came complementary. With plenty of coffee, juices cereals oatmeal muffins sausage egg toast. Parking was very easy. It was just a pleasure to stay here and I would do it again. read more

Last minute over night with my bf. Would be 1 star but the receptionist was nice. Came up to Middletown to visit family and Tru seemed to be the best option for hotels. Had no issue checking in. Got assigned a room that wasn't even cleaned yet. Had to go back up front and request a new room. Still didn't feel clean. Hair was on the shower walls, toilet paper wasn't new, remotes weren't cleaned. Not really covid friendly. Highly recommend they hire new cleaning staff. After reviewing the more recent reviews i wish i checked yelp before checking in. The rooms themselves were nice but beds were only made with sheets. Was also up all night hearing other rooms around us and below us. Walls shouldn't be that thin. Never had an issue with Hilton hotels but definitely not returning to Tru. read more

I have stayed at many hotels, both in Middletown and out of state. This by far was the worst experience to date. My partner booked a room using a third party source, which of course charged his card. Upon arrival he signed the necessary paper work. Next day of check out, I decided to stay another day. I was told I couldn't until the balance was paid for the night before. Leaving us both baffled because he already paid. I had to call him at work, and he and the front desk employee went back and fourth for about 20 minutes disputing this. He had to call the 3rd party vendor & the manager had to get involved. The employee at the front desk, was combative continuing to say he has been with the company for 7years. very abrasive. Ultimately, I was able to book the room, with apologies from the manager. Turns out the employee was wrong. After a week I looked to see if my deposit was returned and it hadn't been. When I called, there was no record of me even booking a room. So if I hadn't called, I wouldn't even be considered for the reimbursement. I was told the manager had to call me. My bank records clearly reflect what I paid. Just when we thought this nightmare was over, its started all over again. At this very time, I still don't have my money back. Unprofessional, disorganized...that's my lasting impression. read more

This is an awful hotel. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. The staff if extremely unprofessional and rude. I arrived to the hotel at around 6:30pm. To my surprise nobody was at the front desk. After searching around the hotel for about 15 minutes, someone finally showed up. A front desk agent by the name of Arlise. She walked into the front desk area while on her personal cell phone and didn't even acknowledge that I was there. I could see in her face she was upset about something. Her demeanor was very confrontational and not at all welcoming. She continued talking on the phone, and at this point I had enough. I told her in calm but annoyed voice that this is extremely unprofessional. She then immediately became defensive and belligerent. She began to lambaste me in front of my wife and eight year old son. Instead of just immediately apologizing for having a paying guest waiting 15 minutes, she went on a tirade saying "do you know what I was doing? I was in the laundry room" and "I drove an hour and 15 minutes in a storm to come to work". My reply was "how is that my fault" she continued to raise her voice so in return I raised my voice. At this point in our interaction she told me "get the fuck out of my hotel, because you're not staying here" and "I feel like spitting in your face". Police were called and I spoke to them and they also confirmed that the front desk agent's behavior and language was abhorrent. Arlise is poor excuse for a front desk agent, and Hilton need to reevaluate what they're doing. This was a disgusting experience and I wouldn't wish it on my enemy. read more
