Salon is clean and friendly and the stylist are all wonderful. Very accommodating to my needs

This salon is like a diamond in the ruff,that perfect lipstick shade etc. The staff is friendly,courteous and professional and the decor is relaxing. Pricing is very reasonable for the results that you will get for a salon in small town that makes you feel like you are in midtown Manhattan. Joanne is a master at her craft. I have had a pixie cut with blonde highlights for about 30 years. I have never been more happy and received more compliments on my color and haircut than since Joanne became my stylist. Me: Can you please fix my kid's hair...yeah, it's pretty bad...no, I'd rather the same guy didn't 'fix' it, thaaanks....um, like I said, it's pretty bad, like, I think I would have done a better job if I had, say, five shots of tequila and didn't bother to turn the bathroom lights on. Co-owner (calls back later): Your husband stepped outside of the salon during the haircut. (Keeps repeating the same thing while interrupting me.) Me: Are you saying that my husband abandoned his child, while standing directly outside of the salon (he had a business call), and THAT'S why the hairdresser totally butchered him? Does one need to be hovering over a client (which was $30 with the tip) or give a ten minute f'ing Pinterest consult in order for something remotely even and resembling a normal haircut to happen? I have been going here the last few years ever since my last salon closed. I can't say enough good things about Tru Salon. It's easy to set an appointment and the front desk staff is extremely friendly and personable. They always remember me and treat me like I'm family. Before, I had never really felt the need to have my hair shampooed before a cut but now I don't know if I could go without one. My scalp thanks me for it for sure and if you don't get a wash before you will regret the missed opportunity. All the stylist are friendly and I never see anyone not with a client. Bonus, they sell the shampoo I need for my dogs!!! I highly recommend going there. Forget the chain places, this gem of a place is local small business that I recommended everyone support! read more

I was looking for a new hair stylist after the pandemic restrictions lifted. I called for an appointment and was able to get scheduled the following week with Joanne. She listened to my wants and needs, provided me with an awesome haircut and was able to give me some fantastic, scattered highlights despite 3 months of do-it-yourself boxed hair coloring most of us had to do during the Covid shutdown. I am sooo glad I found Joanne because she listens and never disappoints. I never have to remind her what I want done! I just love how she colors, cuts, and styles my hair. The staff is very pleasant, the salon is very clean, and they follow the Covid guidelines. I wish I would have found them sooner! read more

Really good. I only found them because of the one hair stylist but am really glad I did. Simi did a wonderful cut and color - makes me want to show it off. The place looks okay, but the customer service just isn't on par. I had to go into the closet and put away my own things and put my gown on- seeing as how customers kept their jackets and purses there, shouldn't an associate do this? I could've stolen something! (I decided to take my purse around with me). Then came the hair wash. She did fine, except she didn't condition my hair. She said she forgot- so many people choose not to condition, she says. Really? Didn't know people didn't condition. Hair cut was okay, she did as I asked. But she doesn't finish! She just cut my hair and was done. My hair was still soaked from the wash! It was pretty cheap for a decent cut, so whatever. I might come back. read more

I've been going to Tru Salon for over 6 years and have exclusively seen Maria (one of the two owners of the salon). Their salon has always been professional including excellent communication about appointments and anything else that may be an impact. I walked in there cold 6 years ago when I needed someone local to my workplace to take care of my hair. I would recommend this salon to anyone out there male or female. My wife has also been to this salon may times with notihng but positive reviews. read more

I don't usually give reviews, however I think I should share my experience with the public. The fact is, I had a keratin treatment done and now my hair feels extremely dry. Upon calling the salon for followup, I was told to come into the salon so they could see my hair. So I did. I was told that my hair looks great, first mistake if I'm telling you I'm not happy with it. I was asked how often I washed my hair, and following my response of every other day, told I should only wash my hair once a week. At which I made a face as none of my hairdressers in my life have ever told me this. The part that really got me, was that I was told "don't roll your eyes young lady". Funny thing is I'm 28 years old. Apparently if you're under 30, you will be treated as a teenager, which is so unprofessional. Definitely not returning, as they did nothing to resolve the situation. read more

My daughter and grand-daughter raved about Jen at Tru Salon in dresher and after a morning haircut there, I wholeheartedly agree with their enthusiasm. Jen is very thorough and seriously considers hair texture, face shape and (our) personal preference before tackling the job with much skill. She patiently explained what she thought would be best and checked to see if that would work for me. She used different brushes on different areas and included a lesson on how to maintain the look, even offering phone availability if a question arose. Jen explained the hair products she used but did not suggest a purchase, even though the salon had several well known products for sale at a discount. I strongly recommend Tru Salon! read more

I've been here a few times now and it's just OK. I had fair hair cuts and one color job was sub par. I left... without realizing, dye residue about 2 inches wide along my hair line. I had to scrub it off on my own with a baby wipe in the car. The lighting in the salon is not that great so I didn't realize how poor of a job the stylist did in covering my grays until I went to the mall about an hour later and saw in the dressing room lights the spots along my head that were not covered. I have done better dye jobs at home from a box of dye I purchased for $7. One of the hair dressers was walking around yawning loudly. Who does that? I understand your clients may be like family but it was just rude. I will be looking for a new salon. read more

Live in the area and decided to give this place a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Very warm and welcoming - and not stuffy - salon. Had my hair done by Joann, who gave me a great cut. The only negative of my visit was very minor: given that I was a first-timer, it would have been helpful if the nice woman who shampooed my hair had directed me to my stylist's chair, rather than letting me seek it out on my own :) read more

I didn't even go here but the experience I had while trying to make an appointment was ridiculous. So I looked up the reviews and I saw they were mostly negative but I said whatever and called anyway. When I first called, a lady answered without even hesitating she says "hold" and then puts me on hold. I've worked in a field where I have to deal with people over the phone so I understand how politeness can be thrown to the wind when busy, so I let it go. 5 minutes later I notice she hung up on me, I can understand how that can happen. So I call back, the same woman answers. The reason I was calling was to compare prices with the salon I usually go to. I explain this to her and she laughs and says " well I can assure you honey, were probably way more expensive here". Who even says that? Lol. I find out the prices and actually they're way cheaper but while conversing with her she was completely rude and condescending the entire conversation. Anyways the moral of the story is: I decided against going here bc of this bizarre experience. I called about five other salons besides this one and each salon couldn't of been nicer. I have been going to Tru each time I come up to the area to help my father and mother. I am originally from the Abington area but moved to VA. about 30 years ago. Had a negative experience at Tru Salon. A friend recommended this place to me and I found that Jen who cut my hair did not listen to what I wanted and was in a rush (As she told me - I was her last costumer and she only had one break that day). She told me she hoped I didn't get my hair dried after the cut because my hair was too long then proceeded to rush through my haircut. After explaining to her what I wanted, she trimmed it a little more but again advised me what I wanted (in her opinion) was too short! I would recommend going to Paris Hair Salon in Glenside or asking for someone other than Jen. read more
