I think the company (An Amerigas affiliate) is on its way out of business. They don't answer the phone anymore. Nor can I leave a message. They sent me a letter terminating my customer agreement because they "couldn't contact [me] after numerous verbal and written attempts" which is not true. Same address, same phone number, same e-mail for over a decade. Now I'm switching providers and am wondering if I'll have their old tank sitting in my driveway all winter. read more

Service has deteriorated since Truckee Tahoe was acquired by Amerigas. We ran out of propane in Olympic Valley this week--Amerigas had stopped filling our tank automatically for some unknown reason. My wife and I had many frustrating calls with various Amerigas "emergency dispatch" and regular customer call centers to try to get our tank filled, and were never to get a local person on a live call. To make matters worse, Amerigas canceled our emergency delivery because their system's info for our account indicated that we needed a new snow stake, which they had replaced this summer! That was the final straw for me. After reading a few online reviews, I called Hunt and Sons, they had a person at our house within two hours.  He immediately confirmed that they could put in a new tank even with ~5 feet of snow on the ground.  By the following morning, we had our new tank in place with enough propane to rewarm the house.  A few hours after that, another Hunt truck had filled our our tank fully.  Great local company with great service read more

We have a contract for automated delivery scheduling and a company installed remote level monitor on the tank. In a reoccurring situation, delivery has been scheduled for a month and the tank is now showing 2% level. The call center personnel are apologetic, but unable to get a delivery to actually occur. For a week now, I have been assured that delivery will occur tomorrow! read more

Truckee Tahoe Propane was supposed to remove their propane tank. The initial request was made by me in November 2019, then April 2020 (post snow), June 2020, July 2020, August 2020. The tank hasn't been removed from my property in 10 months. Further, I have called and I keep getting the run around "it's on our list, it will happen next week, it's on the route, they should remove it in 2 weeks". A lot of promises and no action. It is September 28, 2020 and my propane tank is still on my property. The local office doesn't pick up the phone during business hours or says it's closed. read more

If you have the chance, go with another company. I was charged $4.43/ gallon to refill my tank in January, 2019. Now in March, the price is $4.65/gallon. Ferrell Gas price delivers in this areas for $2.43/gallon. read more

I have had terrible customer service from this company. They have mishandled repairs on two seperate occasions on both tanks that I have had them service. I continued to use them, because I erroniously thought they were the only outfit in town and felt good about supporting a local business. But at what cost? While their clerks are curtious and nice, they cannot resolve even the most simple of disputes. Their systems are archiac, causing long waits on the phone as they check paper records. I have an outstanding dispute with them which they refused to resolve professionally or even negotiate. They came on our property to make repairs which were never authorized or requested, claiming that a realtor had told them to do it. When asked what realtor, they didn't even know. And this is after ignoring several legitimate requests for service and allowing a gas leak to continue for months, costing me an unknown amount of money in lost fuel. They also charge far more than market price (like a buck more per gallon). I don't have the name or number of their competators handy, but I'll get it up here shortly. I would advise finding someone else for your propane needs in Truckee and greater Lake Tahoe. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! I am on automatic fill due to being a full time resident. But I have to call every month for a delivery. I have been calling for 3 weeks requesting a delivery and no one has showed up as promised. My account says delivery pending! Lat delivery was 2.8.19! So, so bad. They came out for 'routine' maintenance, caused a leak, and when they came back to fix the leak, charged me $210 for the repair. Even though they said I shouldn't be charged, and everyone I speak with says I shouldn't have been charged, I'm now 5 phone calls in and a month later and it's still 'under review'. I was in need of propane services in the Truckee area recently and per usual, i went online to shop for a source. I read your posts here on Yelp and was understandably concerned when I decided to hire Truckee Tahoe Propane. I needed a tank moved, lines ran & tested and the tank filled. I would encourage you and anyone else shopping online for propane services to support these guys. They were on time, thorough and all round awesome. After my experience went well, I had actually reached out to the management to find out why they were so "bashed" by other customers. Amerigas turned off our propane while we were moved into the house and couldn't turn it back on for a week.

We switched to natural gas lines three years ago and are still waiting for Tahoe Truckee Propane to remove our propane tank from our property. We have called many, many times and just cannot get them to come out and get it done. read more

Since AmeriGas acquired Truckee Tahoe Propane reliability of the delivery went far lower than it originally was. It's almost impossible to get to their customer service. Scheduled delivery 10 days window is quite often missed. The company doesn't follow up or update on a customer request. I would hardly evaluate the company with a single star read more

Caitlyn and Cindy have been awesome in not only setting up my new account but also making sure we didnt go without when we unexpectedly ran out! After waiting on hold for over an hour to speak with someone on their 'emergency' line, we were told that they had shut the propane off to the house, put a lock on the propane tank that required a special key, and could get someone out to fix the problem on 1/27...13 days from our call. We asked if there was any amount we could pay to have someone come immediately because there are young children staying in the house in winter and were told this is not an option. They used to be so efficient and responsive an now they have customer service if you can call it that, with wait times greater than an hour and a half to talk to someone incompetent, order services that are never delivered, and arbitrary cutoffs. It is painful to give them one star. I have lived here the last 25 years and have always used TTP. I am on the year round payment plan of $380 a month so you would think I was a good customer, yes $4500 a year. Last winter TTP constantly was calling me before my bill was due asking me for payment once the filled the tank. Note: Never late and always paid. The reserves on my account were over the cost of filing a completee tank so it was obvious in my monthly payment plan they were over charging me. I called to discuss and the lady was the rudist I have ever encountered. I actually was telling this story to a coworker, who guess wha,t had the same issue. So I pulled my business from them, and my tank is being replaced by Ferrell Gas. Employee owned company, less expensive and great customer service. Service makes the difference. I will make sure to tell everyone who uses Truckee Tahoe Propane my story as I had never been treated so poorly from a local company before. Guess they don't need my business. I have used this company for 15+ years. I am on a "on demand" fill plan - I.E. I call them when I need propane. It seems almost every year they fill my tank without my request and send me a bill that is way above market price. Each year I call, they apologize and offer to lower the bill. This year same story. On multiple occasions I have told them not to fill the tank, yet they ignore me. Looking for alternatives now. read more

We were supposed to be on an on-call basis (If i need propane, I'll call and let ya know!) Imagine our surprise when we get a $900 bill in the mail for a fill-up we didn't schedule (we have a huge tank.) The primary reason we asked for on-call is because my husband and I were recently married, in our early 20s, and kinda needed to be able to plan ahead to spent that much at once. I call customer service, fuming. They said they had no record of us asking for on-call service. 6 months later, and luckily I am home this time, a Truckee Tahoe Propane truck pulls up to the propane tank and I run out yelling DO NOT PUT PROPANE IN THERE!!!! The drivers looked up the work order, and said that our account is still on an on-call basis! Of course I call again and they said they had no record of asking for on-call service. At this point I get a little grouchy and say if they can't keep their shit straight and a truck comes when no one is home to stop them they can turn right around and take the propane back out, they aren't getting a cent from me. I guess third time and being a bitch is a charm, as they haven't returned. Aside from apparently incompetent employees who can't keep things organized, other companies have MUCH more competitive prices. We switched to Ferrell gas. Because I'm a cheap ass, I'll take bad customer service if the price is right, so I call both before I schedule a fill-up. Ferrell was $1.96/gallon, TTP was $2.50/gallon. That is a HUGE difference, especially when you have a 800 gallon tank. So while I recommend Ferrell - good prices and customer service - I highly recommend NOT using TTP. read more

I've been with this company for about 20 years, back when they were Bi-State. Several years ago I caught them overcharging me by over $1.00 per gallon (200 gallon tank). I was on a service agreement where they come by periodically when IT'S CONVENIENT AND THEY'RE IN THE AREA to refill my tank. They promise one price, and then bump it up more and more over time under the assumption that the client doesn't know the price of gas. After I caught them doing this the first time, and getting a sizable refund and a promise of a fair rate in the future, I've now realized that they're doing it AGAIN!. When I called to complain they said that they "have to make a profit". When I asked their price, they said anywhere between $1.80 and $4.20 per gallon. (Charged me 3.59 -- guess I'm lucky.) Quite a spread. So I'm done. Out of there. Going with Ferrell gas, whose price today 2/5/19 is $2.29, plus a $20 delivery fee. And the woman who answered the phone was nice! I am stunned by the total lack of follow up by Tahoe truckee propane. They took three months to come and remove their tank from my property after I canceled their service. And they only came to get it after I was very persistent and pretty much had to get rude. Then they had the nerve to charge me tank rent for those three months and a $40 service fee to come and get it. Totally unprofessional. read more

Just wow, and not in a good way. Consistently, the worst customer service from the office schedulers to the management. This past winter we called to request a refill and were scheduled. We live on the Summit so we paid to have a small mountain cleared on the scheduled date. I called to confirm that they would be by because you have to pay a small mountain to clear a small mountain. They never showed. They promised to have a small truck to come by the next day to fill while the tank was cleared. They never showed. I called and requested to be filled the following week. My husband drove up late in the evening (and cleared another small mountain by moonlight) to clear the tank for the next day. Guess what? They never showed. I was going to arrange another propane company in late spring with the now close to empty tank. Guess what? They showed and unexpectedly and filled the 500 gallon tank to the brim with overpriced propane. Now I have to wait another year to change companies, because guess what? They charge a huge price to pump out propane. Great. read more

In the last 12 months TTP has let my propane tank run empty three times, twice in the last two months. TTP has negligent service and rotten managerial supervision. My tank ran dry and manager named Joel said service is not perfect but if you don't like it take your business elsewhere. I am in fact doing just that. Buyer beware. read more
