The "chef" didn't pay attention to what I ordered, missing some core ingredients listed in the Pub Burger and in my own add-ons. Hungry in the morning and stopped by to grab a quick burger before my flight. I got the Brekki Burger for $16.27 after tax and had the lowest expectations possible as it's just airport food. They have two ordering pads set up for customers to order, but the UI was unintuitive and gave me strange errors, so I asked the guy behind the counter for help. He proceeded to treat me as if I didn't know how to operate a tablet lol. I ordered and he dismissed me (for lack of a better description). Service was meh / nonexistent otherwise. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($9.99) and Cheese Fries ($6.49). Even though you get unlimited toppings and sauces, they're very skimpy and basic. The burger was smaller than a McChicken, so don't expect much. In addition, the additional cheese fries is just a side of cheese sauce for an extra $1.50 more, so totally not worth it. They have a nice automated system where you order food on the tablet but the waiting time for the food is pretty random and customers were getting upset that their numbers have not been called. Waiting for my flight at JFK airport, I decided to get burgers. I ordered a cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. The only downside was they didn't have lemonade for my drink, so I got water instead. Pretty long service with about 12-15 minutes waiting for my food, but there were a decent amount of people in front of me. The fries definitely needed salt but were crunchy and tasty. Maybe it's a problem when your main airport is PDX in Portland, where the food is good and the prices are street prices, because then the stark abuse of other airport food offerings is even more insulting and depressing. Dishonesty and rapaciousness are as much a part of the culture as anything else, and True Burger today clearly decreed they are part of the scammers, the muggers, and pickpockets of a Dickensian nightmare scene. I watched one of the two "cooks" take out a bag of frozen fries. I saw him drop them into the fryer. I waited the 10 minutes (that part was fast, thus earning half a star). Yet perhaps there was no oil in the fryer? There would not have been sufficient time for even an undercooked fry to become as cold as what they handed me. This was an impressive feat of prestidigitation, replacing hot cooked fries with yesterdays pallid remains. What is the good news here? Well, the toppings were adequate. Sort of. The grilled onions were really nothing more than something which had maybe been microwaved to remove the raw taste, then left to cool down to below room temperature. But there was lettuce. Two pickle slices. A tomato. Lots of condiments. Yup. I would say run far away, but in Terminal 7, it's all a hustle, so it really comes down to this: who do you wish to be victimized by? Date: Saturday, March 25th, 2023 Time: around 6:30pm Meal: First Dinner I was flying out of Terminal 7 and wanted to grab some food before my flight. There weren't very many options, so I decided to try True Burger. I ended up grabbing a Cheeseburger Meal with Fries and a Diet Soda. This was the busiest food stall type establishment, so there was a line. Ordering was pretty simple. They have electronic kiosks to order from. My total for the meal with tax (and maybe tip? I can't remember if I tipped.) was $18.49. After ordering, I stood in the pickup area and waited. You get a receipt with an order number. Shortly after waiting, someone shouted out Cheeseburger Meal. There were a bunch of people in front of me, so I figured there's no way that is mine. Plus, number wise, they were well behind my number. And I saw someone else order a cheeseburger meal before me. After waiting a while, they ended up calling a number after mine, so I went up to check in. I told him my number and he said, "I don't know what that means. What did you order?" I told him a cheeseburger meal and he's like, why didn't you come up when I called this out? I just replied, "I didn't know that was mine as there are many people before me who hadn't gotten their orders." Anyways, he handed me the bag with the burger and fries. I had to ask for my beverage as I told him I got a meal. You also have to ask for condiments as they will not ask you. The burger was fine. A little cold due to the wait time, but I was hungry so it fed me. It was missing some of the toppings I asked for, but after the service I received, I wasn't expecting much. The fries were very plain. Needed salt. Glad I asked for ketchup. A very disappointing airport meal. And I wasn't even expecting much.
