Recently moving away from my beloved tattoo shop in Las Vegas, I was weary about finding someone new, but I absolutely made the right choice stepping foot into True Fit tattoo. From my initial walk-in consultation, the atmosphere was friendly and helpful. Kyle at the front desk is really down to earth, friendly, and is a great introduction to True Fit tattoo. I was paired up with Chris Sellers for a consultation about a cover-up I wanted to get done and he was very likeable from the start. I gave some ideas I thought might work and he took photos of my old tattoo, fired off some thoughts he had and then I put down my deposit. We didn`t set a firm date, but Chris and I were in contact via text about his progress, further thoughts on the cover-up, and what the scheduling was looking like. When we settled on a design(which I was really excited about), we worked out a date and that day was yesterday. Again, super friendly and awesome vibe upon visiting the shop a second time. Chris was ready to roll and while he set up, I was able to explore the shop a bit. There is A LOT to look at and it is set up as almost like a really cool and carefully procured museum. The bathrooms are even super fun. I got to talk to Tomas a little bit and he obviously takes pride in his shop, his work, and the artists that work at his shop and it shows. Chris blew me away with the finished product. I am really very happy with the quality, thoughtfulness, and artistry of my cover-up. Chris is really easy to work with, funny, and caring about whether or not his clients are in pain(he sprayed the area with some numbing spray mid-way through and that took the edge off). Overall, a very "pleasant" and great first tattoo experience here. Would definitely go back for more work by Chris or any other artist here. 10/10 would recommend. Quick note: I did notice the artists do prefer cash/cash based app for payment, which is totally fine. Just a heads up in case you're looking to charge it. Save your money, kiddies, and get a new tattoo! You'll be glad you chose True Fit. read more

hands down THE BEST tattoo shop in the area! Everyone is very very very pleasant and friendly as soon as you walk in. Everyone speaks and is super helpful. Easiest way to go about wanting to get a tat is to come to the establishment and talk to them. They have a handful of amazing artist who will hook it up. If you're looking for black and gray def go and see jovan! He listens, very attentive, asked questions, gives his advice, and executes! Very pleased and happy with how it turned out. My family and I decided to get tattoos as Family Christmas Experience. For our two youngest boys (who are 18 and 19) this was their first tattoo but not for my husband and I. Our initial introduction to one of the the artists was a bit rocky. He didn't seem interested in completing the art work that was being requested, even though images of the art were submitted weeks prior to the appointment. Luckily for us Kyle and Vanna stepped up and worked it out and we were on track keep our Christmas Experience as scheduled. My husband and I got to work with Vanna who was/is AMAZING! We got along great and found lots of topics that we had similar interests in, which made our time in the chair that much better. My husband's original idea was for the cartoon /game style version of The Eye of N'zoth (from World of Warcraft). Vanna took our idea and customized it for our consideration. My husband liked his vision and we went with it. The boys worked with Jovan who was the PERFECT fit for them! The boys are more quiet and reserved and didn't really converse much. Jovan, was great for them because he seemed to work well with the silence and it made the boys feel more comfortable. Both their tattoos came out great and they are very happy with their first experience. Overall our Christmas was huge success because of the guys at True Fit Tattoo Studio. This past year I got a Vegvesir tattoo from my girl Brooke at True Fit tattoo. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left I really enjoyed the experience and I will continue to go to her for years to come. My husband got his first tattoo done here and he loves true fit! Johnny Rose is super talented! My husband wanted a lion and a sunflower on his chest and he got an amazing piece done in about three sessions! They charge per session and depending on how much work they end up doing. This piece ended up being $1,000 total with the tip. We will be back here! We trust these artists. They know what they're doing and they're talkative and friendly read more

Brooke is THE BEST. She pays attention to detail and what YOU want. She designs based off of your body curves and physique. She's patient, soothing, and has great conversations if you want them. The guys in the shop are patient and encouraging, which hasn't been a normal experience for me in the past with other shops. Just went to Tru Fit Tattoo to inquire about a spine tattoo. A Cross that says "The Lord is my Shepherd " in feminine script. Humm, the gentleman said I have to bring the script myself. WHAT??? Isn't he the artist? I tell him what I want and they draw it out??? I have the idea but the artist should put it on paper for approval. Poor Customer Service. I need to find someone who knows what their doing. read more

My friend and I called to make an appointment. They responded for us to come in and get a legit consultation instead. I like that level of dedication to standards and quality of work! We came in the same day. After a brief discussion and a picture of the designs we wanted, it was decided to get tatted on the spot! Thanks Brooke and Vanna!! We will be back! I shopped around on yelp to find someone who can do clean portrait tattoos of my grandparents and I was happy to come along True Fit Tattoo. Tomas Archuleta was so amazing! He truly exceeded my expectations as the portraits looked so real and beautiful. When I initially stopped by the shop for the first time I was able to meet Tomas and tell him what I was looking for and I scheduled an appointment on the spot. He let me know his pricing right away which I think was fair considering his work. I also feel like he did the work fast where it did cost me more than I wanted. He was a little booked out however his work is definitely worth the wait. The overall atmosphere of the shop was so cool. It had great music, great set up, cool artwork and furniture. When I came in to get the tattoo started Tomas made me feel super comfortable and was very personable. He also was super quick which amazed me considering the quality of his work as he completed it in three sessions. There was even times I was so comfortable I took a nap lol! Besides Tomas I have seen some of the work of the other artists there who were also cool and they work is just as amazing. So I feel no matter who you work with you will not be disappointed at this shop. I don't care if I even move, I would drive down just to get my work done here. read more

I first met Johnny Rose on the first day of the convention (8/18/2017). My wife and I had been walking around checking out all the different artists. On our way out we came across the True Fit Tattoo booth. They had 3 Sailor Jerry books out on their display table. Immediately I was greeted by Johnny and his vibe was really cool. He greeted me with "What's going on brother! Looking to get something done?" as if we'd known each other for some time. I replied with "Actually I am!" I began to tell him what I was looking for and his response was nothing short of positive and enthusiastic. I first told him I wanted a traditional bulldog on the inside of my bicep. He began to tell me how much he digs the traditional style and that his dad, also a former Marine, had a traditional bulldog tattooed on him so he was beyond excited to do that piece. Then I told him about my chest piece (Homer Simpson) and how I'm picturing it in my head, as if he wasn't stoked enough already, his energy completely went into over drive, his feedback and eagerness to do the tattoo was what ultimately made up my mind that he was the artist that I had been looking for! Unfortunately it was pretty late in the evening and he explained he didn't want to rush anything so he asked if I could come back the following day to get things going. I agreed. That night I went home and I was so excited I couldn't sleep. I showed up the next day at our agreed time and I walked up to the booth as Johnny was finishing up the drawings he came up with. I was completely stoked, he took my vision and made it come to life on paper. It was really cool watching him get down! So he had the bulldog and Homer drawn up, then he asked about a 3rd piece which I had mentioned the night prior, a traditional pinup. He didn't hesitate and started drawing it up as well. From minor changes and small details, Johnny was very attentive, was not rude at all and completely understanding. At the end of the day, my pieces came out amazing!! People kept walking by and admiring the work, and Johnny even invited people in to be able to look over his shoulder. I didn't mind at all, people's reactions to my chest piece was really cool. I love my overall experience with Johnny and at this booth. A quick shout out to James and Jenna who were there as well, both are very talented artists and their personalities alone would definitely have me coming back to this shop in the near future. I just got my very first tattoo today (at 52 years old) and I LOVE IT! James Rader was my tattoo artist. Not only did he design what I was looking for, but added a few artistic touches to it and it looked better than I expected. He knew it was my first and kept it simple so I could see how I'd sit through it. I was afraid if the pain, but James has an amazing touch and the pain was minimal. On top of that, the entire shop has a great vibe and at one point the whole shop (customers and staff) were all in the same conversation. I'm so happy I had my first tattoo done here! Such a warm and welcoming environment!! I got my first and second tattoo days apart from each other because I couldn't wait to go back and have a conversation with Vanna! Such an awesome and talented dude all around. So today I am getting my second tattoo from this shop, but I have only ever sat with one artist. Tomas is the artist I work with, but I have heard that they are all amazing for different techniques. I have waited a little over a year to start the second one & when I went to book my appointment I was not surprised that he was booked out over 6 months. They still have sooner appointments but Tomas does not normally unless someone cancels. There is a nice vibe and music playing, but I tend to keep my head phones on. Everyone is very friendly, clean and presentable! The shop is decorated with tons of fun stuff that keep your eyes searching and discovering. I also love that their bathroom is clean and so cute! I'm all about a clean bathroom & clean floorboards, it tells me so much about a place. If you are looking for a walk in appointment you might not find it, but if you are looking for amazing art work and attention to detail and honesty then you are at the right place! read more

Such a great experience at True Fit yesterday! My best friend and I went in for "matching" tattoos. John and James took such good care of us when it came to getting the sketches just right. (Even with our many requests!) The shop is small, so you really feel like you're hanging out with friends the whole time. Justin the shop manager was very helpful in setting up our appointments as well. James did the Mickey, and I've never seen a cleaner black and grey tattoo. That black is solid! And worth every second of it! John did the Minnie with such vibrant colors, and my best friend loves hers as well! Thank you so much guys!! Such a great experience, and absolutely worth every penny. 100%. James did my tattoo, and I'd recommend him to everyone! But that said, everyone at this shop is truly an artist. Let me first start by saying I don't have a lot of ink as the idea of putting something permanent on my body is/was a big decision. There's no turning back and there's zero margin for error without spending a hell of a lot of money. Any fear/anxiety I had was instantly erased when I walked into True Fit. James, Sara, Tomas, etc., etc. were nice as could be and that bedside manner goes a long way when you make this kind of decision. James was thorough and helping me decide what to do with my idea... where... and how to do it. He gave me professional guidance/advice, not "this is what you should do..." Throughout the process, he took his time and was a consummate professional. The end result was better than expected as was the path to get there. Because my last tattoo was in '96, and because I'm not a price shopper, I don't have much to compare too but it was far less than what I expected to have paid. I will be going back to True Fit Tattoo as soon as I get the next idea. read more

5 stars isn't enough. We had been looking for some time for a tattoo artist to get a portrait of our pup. We unfortunately lost our girl in August and yet again started a desperate search for someone to tattoo us. After happening upon Tomas page at True Fit Tattoo and speaking with him over the phone we were finally relieved to find someone with a love for Pittys like our own and he could tattoo them! My husband went first because I was honestly afraid of the tattoo not looking like Stella. Now I'm jealous and can't wait for my appointment in December. read more

I was incredibly lucky and was able to get a walk-in. Zac, my tattoo artist, spent a lot of time helping me design my tattoo since I only had a very rough idea of what I wanted, and I am incredibly pleased with the result. Have about 40-50 hours of time sitting for tattoos at this shop. They are a great group of artists in a really cool shop with reasonable prices. Never had an issue with a tattoo from this shop. I've seen multiple people come in looking for a coverup for some messed up ink they got at other shops. Highly recommended shop for those new to ink or for experienced ink/pain junkies. read more

I never Yelp but after my experience here I had to. I've known about this shop for a while always wanted to stop by, and I'm very happy I did . Established in 2014.

Bought by Tomas Archuleta October 2013 for the first 5 months the building was completely gutted and remodeled by the crew here at True Fit Tattoo. We opened earlier this year in march and things have been going great.Come by to check out the shop anytime, it truly is a hand made custom shop.

Meet the Business Owner: Tomas A.

Coming from Grand Junction, Colorado, Tomas was brought up to believe in small town camaraderie and a true sense of familia. Familia is the defining word for Tomas. It was this that led him to become the artist he is today. Influenced strongly by his father, uncles and grandpo's interests in classic cars and motorcycles, Tomas studied low-rider bikes, paint jobs, pin-striping and "cholo" imagery.With time, Tomas found his calling in the tattoo industry.Starting off in small street shops in Denver, Colorado, he soon moved on to custom shops, working around the country at conventions and guest spots in states including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Utah, South Dakota, Idaho, Michigan and Nevada, to list a few.Soon after, California called to him and Tomas found himself working next to another great artist, Bill Canales. Tomas is now on his new adventure, True Fit Tattoo, With a Hand picked crew of Great artists and shop employes Tomas has finally found his true home in San Diego

The tattoos were not great quality either. My artist which I believe is the owner or one of the main guys gave me attitude when I asked if he could make my tattoo half and inch small. Then I asked if he could rotate it as in physically turn it before placing it and he got annoyed again, said I'd have to pay extra if I'm going to be asking for all that. I explained it wanted it at 90 degree angle vs how how was going to place it. He wouldn't need to make any further changes. Obviously it was a misunderstanding but the way he spoke to me was not friendly at all. But the real issue was how bad the tattle was, didn't look like what was on the flash sheet at all. On the sheet it looked like fine line and well. Just look at my picture to see the issue. You can hardly read the inner part which was supposed to say Veneno. Overall it just came out sloppy and I'm genuinely embarrassed by it. I lie to folks and say that it's supposed to look like that to give spooky vibes but in reality that's not how the tattoo was portrayed on the flash sheet, I think they tatted a little too deep too.

He was quick to respond and asked for a $200 deposit, which I sent via Apple Pay on March 5 to the shop owner. We booked for March 16. Leading up to the appointment, he would send random updates on the design, but nothing was finalized. I gave feedback and stayed patient, even knowing they had a Friday the 13th event going on. I didn't hit him up again until March 15 (the day before my appointment) because we STILL didn't have a finished design, which is wild. He tells me he'll have it done that day. Cool. Then a few hours later, I get a generic email saying my appointment is canceled. No explanation. Nothing. So I reach out to the number I sent my $200 to asking for a refund, and instead of handling it like professionals, they get confrontational and start acting like I'm the problem for asking for MY money back. They try to hide behind a "no refund" policy... even though THEY canceled on me. Make that make sense. I added my conversation with the artist, since the owner wants to claim harassment. Judge for yourself. No policy was ever clearly shown to me, and communication was trash the entire time. Instead of owning their mistake, they blamed me and got disrespectful. I only got my money back after I told them I'd file a chargeback with my bank and take them to small claims court. Go read their bad reviews--you'll see a pattern, especially with how the owner talks to customers. Super unprofessional. Save your time, save your money, and go somewhere else.

I'm working with Brooke on a full sleeve and, she is amazing. I came to her with the vaguest of ideas for the tattoo, just the main figures. At the consult she roughed out a design, added elements to make flow properly, and was able to show me how it would look on my arm. By our first sitting, she had produced an entire piece of art to tattoo. Brooke's linework and shading is immaculate. She has an excellent eye for detail. Honestly, Brooke is one of the most dedicated, hardworking craftsperson I have had the privilege to encounter. The shop has an excellent vibe in general. It's a very mellow atmosphere in which to get tattooed. They're always willing to change the music to suit the customers. If you've been tattooed before, you'll know that a lot of shops are kind of sticky about music. There's no crappy attitude towards tattoo-newbs or in-jokes about the customers. During the 20 hours of sitting for my sleeve, I have never heard any of the employees bitch about other customers or the other artists. If there are office politics here, they do not spill out into the workspace. I, for one, very much appreciate this aspect of the shop...professionalism is so good to see, especially in the rather casual environment of a tattoo studio. Kyle, who does the scheduling for many of the artists at True Fit has never failed to answer his phone or texts when I've had questions about scheduling. Whenever I'm there getting inked, he's answering the phones, dealing with walk-ins, and working on his drawing skills for when he starts tattooing people. Vanna, another one of the tattoo artists is also amazing. During one of my 4-hour sittings with Brooke, Vanna was tattooing a young man's ribs. Vanna's technique is so strong that the dude was actually able to sleep for a little while, while he was being tattooed...ON THE RIBS! The work done was top quality too. I have not met the owner of the tattoo studio, Tom; however, he seems to be the kind of master tattoo artist that any apprentice would want. The other artists at the studio talk about how he takes the time to mentor each of them one-on-one. From the sound of it, he is always willing to give of his time and expertise to any of the artists that want it. Lasty, I have social anxiety disorder. It's generally very difficult for me to sit in a business for any length of time without feeling uncomfortable. This studio has never made me feel under any pressure, discomfort, or the need to "get out now" that comes along with the disorder. Seriously, True Fit is a great tattoo studio. As I noted in my Google review, I never thought I would describe a long tattoo session as "enjoyable," but this was my experience with Zac Chaffin yesterday as he patiently completed a tattoo I had long been contemplating (bonus: it's also a cover-up). I went to Zac with a concept but no artistic vision of my own, and he brought to life my request in ways I couldn't have imagined. He is extraordinarily talented, and I especially appreciate his eye for color (and most notably, contrast and gradient). I gave him free reign to design and color this piece, and I honestly could not have envisioned a more stunning outcome. If you have a vision, describe it, then let this man do his thing. As noted, it was also the most pleasant tattoo session I've experienced. Zac is a relaxing presence and funny (as is his fellow artist Vanna, who was working on a beautiful piece on another client during my time there), and he deeply loves the work he does. I came in today for my first tattoo ever, a palm tree on my forearm. I had blaze as my artist and he did a great job sketching out my changes I wanted done to the original image we found, after about 70 minutes my tattoo was done, then he gave me a car letting me know how to take care of my new tattoo so it wouldn't get infected. This is a solid shop here in SD. This shop is around some good food options if you get hungry. I have been tattooed here by Francis and he is a gentle giant with a light tattooing hand. Francis can give you a clean, bold, and legible tattoo that will stand the test of time. He has tattooed me and I got a rose that is drawn-to-fit. See picture. Anyone who offers to draw a piece on without a stencil is worth the time. Francis has tattooed myself little brother as well and I don't send my family to just anyone off the street either.

Ginger worked with me to make sure I was happy with the placement, checked in with me throughout the tattoo, and always asked if I needed a break. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable at all. The guy who did mine was on his phone (touching his phone too) while he was doing mine. Several calls, I want to say 5. When I told him the tattoo didn't look right (multiple times) he grumpily said "it's exactly the art you gave me". No it's not. It's a disaster. The tattoo became so infected 24 hrs after that I got a fever. Just a guess but maybe bc the guy was touching his ph while he was doing the tattoo? He was wearing gloves to protect himself but he didn't care about me. Another note: we were the only ones there and it took HOURSSS. Sure we should have left, but it's a little hard when an angry guy has a needle in your arm. It's like a bad haircut, you don't know what to do/say when it's happening. Except this haircut won't grow out.
