Our waiter was decent, and the food was great. My family and I were seated in the back because there were more than five of us, and no other patrons were dining in that area. Everything was going well until an employee began sweeping directly in front of our table while we were eating. She continued sweeping aggressively with no regard for the fact that we were in the middle of our meal. My father politely asked her to stop, and she responded in an agitated tone that she was "just doing her job." Her response was rude and inconsiderate. What made the situation more frustrating was that she was not sweeping near any of the other patrons in the restaurant. We are so lucky to have 3 Silver Diners in the Tysons/Reston/Merrifield area. Our Tysons Corner store is very well managed by Ali and Niron and great servers like Roza and Johan and sweet take out team led by Natalie, supported by Valentina and Aly. Silver diner always seems to be a hit or miss for me. I think I've cracked the formula for myself though. Whenever I go now I always get the tomato basil soup and so far I've been happy. This time I also got the bruschetta, I didn't care for the cheese it came with but the rest was delicious. We arrived 15 minutes before closing, and all we wanted was a little dessert. Instead of telling us to kick rocks, they sat us at the counter and sated my late night sweet tooth. The chocolate cake was a little on the sweet side, but beggars can't be choosers when it's close to midnight. 5 stars for friendliness and service. The best part of this visit was the service. Samir did an awesome job taking care of my table. I was seated quickly and had high hopes. The diner has a cool retro interior and was well staffed. I ordered and quickly had my shake, I got the S'mores flavored one and it was tasty. I got the Smash Burger and it was very disappointing. First off, it's not a smash burger. If it was, they need to do a better job of training the kitchen how to smash it. It was just a small burger. The bun was way too dense, and the fries were limp and undercooked. I would just like to start with this is 100% my bad. I hail from New Jersey... The land of diners... So I went into this diner just ordering my usual not thinking much of it. That was until I got the bill and saw that two eggs bacon and breakfast potatoes with a side of fruit cost $19 lol. And that wasn't including tip yet. In Jersey that would've been an $8 breakfast, maybe $10. I'm not knocking the establishment, I'm more so knocking my naïvety not realizing where I was and that things are just not priced normally in the area haha. So that's not saying I'll never come back. For years having resided in Northern Virginia, my wife and I have been frequenting many of the Silver Diner locations and even have meals there when visiting family and friends in the NoVA area occasionally. Silver Diner has got to be one of the most consistent eateries in the country. The locations stand out with their bright and shiny semblance to 1940s and 1950s chrome laden and neuville/retro resemblance to railroad dining cars of the day. Once inside you projected back in time where you find yourself facing that good old fashioned multi colored Art Deco-style, with materials like nickel, copper, chrome trim, ceramic tile, Formica, glass and of course, jukeboxes - both a floor model, and table top versions, built by the legendary Kullman Industries of New Jersey! But what really takes the cake at Silver Diner, is the food... oh what food it is! Over the years we've acquired favorites but just about anything you pick out of their extensive menu whether breakfast, brunch (all day), lunch, snack, dinner, the (good old fashioned) blue plate specials, their cocktails, beverages, wine and beer, we're certain you'll be amazed. We've experience the likes of the fab Black Angus Meatloaf: with a 1/2 pound, nicely sliced, with tasty brown gravy, along with crunchy onion straws, delicate mashed potatoes, along with fresh vegetables; one of my personal super fave, real tender Calf's Liver with Onions and tasty and delicate mushrooms: aided in wonderfully smoked bacon and caramelized onions, also served with served with their fab mashed potatoes, gravy, and sided with fresh veggies; their incredible rendition of Cod Fish & Chips (yum) with an incredible home-made tartar sauce, coleslaw, crispy fries seasoned with Old Bay and malt vinegar - Wow!; and last but not least, an incredible rendition of their Country-Fried Steak and Eggs breakfast of perfectly (not overdone) seasoned breaded steak, smothered with just the right amount of, and fabulously tasty sausage gravy, along with Amish eggs (any way you want them, but I prefer over easy), some crispy outside and tender inside home fries covered in smooth perfectly caramelized onions, a buttermilk biscuit; and then last but not least, their Corned Beef Hash and Eggs: again, with Amish eggs any style you want, the home fries with caramelized onions, buttermilk biscuit. This waters my mouth just thinking about it. And it's amazing that with every visit, each item ever ordered is consistent to the previous visit. You order what you want, and you know it's how you've had it before, if not better. Kudos to owners, founders and cooks Bob Giaimo and Ype Von Hengst, along with your staff and management for coming up with this eatery, making it a community place, its smart regional expansion as well as keeping your offerings to patrons both tasty and consistent. For the longest time, my son refused to come to Silver Diner. Maybe it was the service or the food but now he is older, his tastes are much more refind & adult-like. Don't get me wrong, he still likes some kids foods but he is appreciating what the adults eat. That's good and bad. Good that he is trying new and more complex meals but bad, it's more expensive. We were greeted and seated within a couple minutes. The server was attentive and efficient with our drinks (water) & our order. This evening, my son iis having Surf & Turf (Scallops & Tenderloin medallions). I am having the Flat Iron Steak. Mine came with a soup or salad and I opted with the salad. When it came out it had tomatoes along with different greens, croutons, parm cheese and caesar dressing. It was good. Our food came out later. The Flat Iron steak was ordered medium rare but it was more rare. I won't complain cause at least it isn't over cooked. See photo. I opted out of bleu cheese butter. The steak was seasoned well on the outside. The mash potatoes, spinach and heavenly fried onions were delicious. My son's tenderloins were a bit overcooked (ordered medium rare but it was more medium-medium well). They were still good. He ate it without fuss. The scallops were not cooked enough so they were on the rare side which was disappointing and tasted fishy. Oh well. He loved the fries and spinach. Overall, the items on the menus are more expensive and fancier than traditional diners, but Silver Diner isn't a normal diner. It's got upscale items and of higher quality. I was pleasantly impressed with our breakfast dining experience here. It was a Saturday morning and I was a bit worried it would be slammed. We were immediately seated by a welcoming hostess. Our waiter was prompt and full of smiles with a friendly personality. Our food service was timely and everyone enjoyed their food. My eggs were cooked to perfection and as ordered. It's locked! Then you have to go down the steps and walk ALL the way around to the front of the restaurant. Very discriminatory to elderly. Does not promote mainstreaming the elderly. They also offer plenty of delicious plant-based dishes and entrees under 600 calories. During our last visit, the Philly Steak Omelette with cheeses and mushrooms completely satisfied my hunger. The combination of delicious ingredients made it a savory and healthy dish. The Bay Benedict was also fantastic, with generous portions of crab cake and tomato salad with corn, spinach, and basil, served on English muffins and accompanied by fresh fruits for a nutritious and balanced breakfast. The Oat Milk Protein Pancakes were outstanding - healthy, moist, and flavorful, unlike other dry pancakes we've had. You cannot do reservations ahead of time, it's only walk-ins. Despite the rest of the restaurants in the area having 30 to 45 minutes wait, this place seated us immediately around noon on a Saturday. Clean, comfortable and the wait staff were friendly. Good brunch selection, even at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and the food was delicious. I have never been a fan of the Silver Diner. This location was more of the same. The server was fine. She was attentive with refills of iced tea or soda. The food was subpar. I had a tuna melt for lunch. I guess you could say the fries were fine. Interior was the same as all others and actually gave an extra star as this was somewhat cleaner than some others I've eaten at. Over the years, it has grown to include more than 20 locations across the Mid-Atlantic region. I recently visited the location off the east side of Porter road in Falls Church. This particular location has parking in front and larger lot behind the site. It is located in a stand-alone building. Inside, it offers a nostalgic yet modern dining experience, blending classic diner charm with a contemporary twist. They have a diverse menu catering to various dietary preferences, including vegan and plant-based options. The interior combines retro aesthetics with modern comforts, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all. You enter and are seated by a host at one of the many tables and booths. We got a booth. The restaurant was clean although the shiny surfaces showed a lot of smears which took a little bit away from the great look. The server was efficient and pleasant. I ordered teh special of Waffle, eggs and bacon. The food came out quickly and was excellent tasting. The prices were reasonable for the location and economy. Overall, it was a pleasant experience fand I would recommend this as a good place to get a great meal in a old time but pleasant environment. read more

The Silver Diner has come a long way. I used to have all my networking meetings here when I worked in Tysons. Looking at the breakfast crowd, it's a good networking place. I love the menu choice with a lot of options. I didn't notice if they still had the Senior breakfast special which is a bargain. I love the bottomless coffee you get here. I chose the Oaxaca Omelette and it didn't disappoint. Service was great. They also use the mobile payment right at your table which is a good convenience except I am not sure how they calculate the tip. read more
