They checked, rechecked and guaranteed me the contents were exactly what I purchased! Unfortunately, they were closing in 30 minutes and forced me to eat a 562-mile round trip in order to return Monday with a larger transport or be in serious trouble for not getting to my contractor in time. I called Shakira who is based at HQ in Indiana to help me ship it via a currier since the dimensions my install team obtained from the "Surplus web site" should have easily fit my hatchback. She was not allowed! I repeated the 281-miles drive to Grape obtaining a larger truck...... only to be loaded with a coil unit 1/3 the size of the incorrect oversized box load before. Tim in sales, warehouse reps, etc...None are allowed to fix any wrong once you've paid. They are taught to delay, deny or banter until you give inn, or have to be referred to their most gifted grifter, "Brandon". His only goal is to obscure truth and win the argument, not the customer. That call will cease the moment it becomes blatantly obvious that Surplus City has grievously erred and he'll need to get right back to you with a solution...... He never will.

Daniel Eckerle, the owner, acknowledged his workers mistake and offered a refund and to make the repair the following day. Daniel informed me he was giving me his personal number to reassure me he would remedy the situation personally. I reached out the following day directly to Daniel to find out it was not his personal number. Daniel called me later that morning saying it would be a few days before he could complete the repair. He knew it was an emergency and strung me along. His company is now refusing to provide the refund after I chose to have a timely and competent company complete the repair. Do not fall for this company! Daniel, the owner, will feed you whatever he believes is needed to take your money and get the job. I highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs.

Anyone considering Airy Time Heating and Cooling should probably reconsider…read more When our new heat pump suddenly stopped working, we were assigned Airy Time through American Home Shield to come fix the problem. After looking at the system, he said that we were about 1lb short on r410a coolant. We were verbally told that the cost for the 1lb would be $478 (this does NOT include labor, as that is billed separately to AHS). We were pretty surprised and asked if there was any way we could cut costs. We were told that this was actually cheaper than the older kind which would have been a whopping $1,000. This is our first time having a Heat Pump since we just moved here and are used to Swamp Coolers, so we aren't familiar with the average cost for coolant. We were still shocked, but thankful that we didn't need the REALLY expensive stuff. We signed on the dotted line and that was it. We were never informed that this was a flat rate for between 1-3lb of coolant. Had we known it was on the low end of the flat rate, we would have tried to get other quotes. I called Company "B" who originally installed the heat pump, and was told that they only charge $85/lb. I felt physically sick. Company B suggested I call Airy Time and try to get some of my money back. The woman I spoke with at Airy Time was very rude and kept telling me that their price was "industry standard", and that I agreed to the price. When I insisted that we didn't know it was a flat rate and that their competitors charged so much less, she told me that Company B "wasn't their competitor" and that they had the professionalism and expertise that other companies didn't, which evidently justifies their 5.5x cost increase. When I told them I would be leaving them a bad review, I was told that I was being threatening. She repeatedly kept talking over me and asked quite condescendingly what she could do to make me a happy customer. I told her I would appreciate if they would price match Company B's $85 quote or at least give a partial refund, and she insisted that they wouldn't price match because they are far superior to Company B. When I was still obviously unhappy, she said that she would refund me all of my money, but I wouldn't be their customer anymore and would have to seek future service elsewhere. I said that would be fine with me, and her response was, "You're so not our customer, you just got yourself some free coolant, congratulations, but you have to sleep with yourself at night". I tried to speak again and was hung up on. Since their visit, the temperature in our home has actually gone up and the problem remains unsolved. I let them know this in an email and moved on. This morning, however, I have been alerted that a Home Advisor account has been created in my name, with my email address, my phone number, and my home address. A service request for Heating and Cooling has been created on this account, and I'm being relentlessly spammed with phone calls, emails, and text messages from these vendors thinking I'm looking for help. I also have been receiving countless spam calls for health insurance quotes, car insurance quotes, Quote Wizard, etc. All starting this morning. If anyone else wants outrageous prices and childish behavior, Airy Time has your back.
