Can't say enough good things about Steve. A true professional. He showed up early and started before I arrived. We started from the bottom and worked our way up. Steve took his time and explain things that weren't up to code. Gave suggestions on how to fix it. Gave suggestions on how to improve things that didn't need to be repaired. He was able to explain things so my wife and I could understand. If he did use a technical term that we didn't understand he took the time to simplify it. He went over the plumbing, electrical, heating, the roof, etc. I don't think he missed a thing. the report we got was concise and easy to read. We had a great experience with Steve as we looked to buy a Manhattan co-op. We are first time home buyers and decided to have an inspection done on a co-op potential purchase. My broker gave me 2 contacts for home inspection. I contacted both and decided to go with Steve, even though he was slightly more expensive. This is my first house purchase and I had concerns about it being so old. He showed up on time and ready to take his time to show me everything about the house. He seemed to find everything I did not notice, from cracked tiles, to wood rot, and water damage. He checked the roof, the crawlspace, all the windows, garage, etc. It was 20 degrees outside, but he took his time to look at the entire exterior. After his inspection, I felt that I had learned so much more about what I was purchasing and was able to negotiate more money off the price for all the repairs I would have to do. I am very happy that I hired Steve to inspect my potential home! He was very thorough, starting as soon as he arrived with an external inspection of the home, the garage and then moving systematically throughout the interior of the property. My friend originally referred me to another home inspection company (also had amazing Yelp reviews) but upon contacting the owner, he was not available himself and was going to send out one of his partners. I decided to do my own research and found Steve and asked for a quote via Yelp. Steve responded within the hour and was actually a little cheaper than the first company. He would be doing the inspection himself versus sending a contractor. This was a huge plus for me. I was able to schedule an appointment for a couple of days later. Throughout the whole scheduling process, Steve was very quick to respond via email. On the day of inspection. Steve was on time and well prepared with all of his tools. As first time home buyers, my husband and I really appreciated the time Steve took to point things out to us and give us advice. He's a retired fire fighter so is familiar with building structure and has so much knowledge! We received a written report with comments, photos, and advice the next day. He uses a great system online where you can view your report and easily review each item and sort them by how you want to handle it. Steve also had referrals available (electrician, plumber). I do trust him so I am inclined to trust his referrals as well.
