    Texas Torpedo!
    Marie B.

Pretty good!!! The brisket was on the greasy end and had no flavor on its own (I prefer not having to drench my BBQ in sauce), but the ribs were excellent and we really appreciated the more unique items on the menu. The buttery Burnt Ends and the (pepper-jelly glazed?!) stuffed Texas Torpedo are definitely some reasons to come back! The prices were quite steep but comparable to any decent BBQ spot with the economy these days lol ($50 for a somewhat filling lunch for 2 people)... But it's certainly convenient and surprisingly good for a grocery store!

Pretty good barbecue. Good but not great. They can't help that they're inside a grocery store, so the vibe is a little odd. The people working there could not be nicer though, clearly trained to be energetic and positive and pulling it off nicely. Overall I'd place this ahead of the chains like Dickey's or Rudy's, but not quite to the level of the best on this side of town like Corkscrew, Tejas, or Bar-A.

Great service! Great prices! The food was good! Overall if I'm in the area I'd stop here again! Ordered the brisket baked potato and was not disappointed! A huge loaded potato with moist brisket that should've been two meals! The sausage was ok, but would pass next time. The only downside was I ordered the peach cobbler, but did not receive it. Also my fault for not checking my bag before I left... Overall would return!

incredibly expensive for the plate. I got the three meat plate (supposed to be $21 but was $32 in surprise surcharges) and in the end, I received less than a pound of meat. the cashier was also unhelpful and stated that the Texas torpedo was legendary, however it turned out to be a SINGLE lukewarm soggy jalepano popper. save your money and go elsewhere. heck even, just buy the ingredients from H-E-B and make it yourself for a 1/10 of the price. Raw hamburger meat feels like a good, affordable, and tasty option after this experience.

The BBQ is amazing, and so close to home. The meat is tender and tasty. My favorite is the Mac and cheese. It tastes home made. Their cobbler is pretty good as well. If you sign up with True Texas BBQ you can get periodic texts for specials of money off or special deals. It's worth a try to see if you like it. It's in an HEB store and conveniently located at Tamina road (2978 area) and 1488.

Now- you listen up. I drove an hour for this bbq as soon as I found out it was that near me. I've driven 2.5 hours for it in the past to Austin and eaten it outside in the Texas sun. This in my humble opinion is so damn underrated. Easily top 5 bbq place in Texas. Brisket was amazing. Burnt ends terrific! The Texas torpedos fantastic! You gotta try it.

BBBQ, what's the extra B for? BYOBB. Apart from the Red River way down in League City this joint provides the most reliable and best (easily accessible) BBBQ I have found in the greater Houston area which makes it an easy favourite for repeat visits. Similar to Rudy's as a no frills, fast-very-casual order at the counter type experience; but overall better in many ways. And doesn't require canceling all plans, packing a backpack of road trip snacks, and telling your children you love them in case you don't come back just so you can stand in line for seven hours at that one over in Pearland everyone is always going on about to justify spending an entire day standing in line to get (if they don't prematurely run out of) meats. There are meatheads, and then there are meatheads the way that term was used in the Back to the Future films. The True Texas has two types of sauces you pump yourself into those little plastic cups next to the soda fountain: one is a derivative of Rudy's hot (the redder, thinner looking sauce) and the other is a much thicker sweeter type distantly reminiscent of Stubbs' sweet heat but even thicker than that one. The two types of sauces are wonderful offerings to complement whether it is chicken, brisket, or other. This joint is located just inside the HEB beyond the main entrance in the front of the store, which depending on the path you take in you might have walked through the patio with all of the BBBQ grilles outside already to get you in the mood for a trill taste of Texas. There are posted instructions to leave your cart outside of the queue to order but you will still see nearly all people with their cart inside the queue if they have shopped first before ordering. You order and pay once you have the pole position in the queue then you swing over to the "interior" of the resto to git your own sauces, drinks, etc. and wait for your order to be up at the side window. Minor complaints include them running out of chicken all of the time (gurrrrrrl, if it is that popular just make some more and then you can sell more!) and the lean brisket not always being as lean as you would believe the word indicates, although since this is the suburbs of Houston perhaps they mean "lean" as in you know, how the rappers use it these days. If true, you should also pick up some Sprite, styrofoam cups, and give soundcloud rapper codenamed Lil Marco a call for the other thing. But, a taste of this BBBQ is a taste of Texas, trill (true) Texas in fact. Especially the chicken. They really had to do it to the chicken. Which makes the few rare times you are early enough to grab one a win in any book so it is your turn for the tasting. Apart from minor complaints everything else is aces down at the True Texas. The teens working the "order's up" window are always incredibly polite as they double check everything you ordered is there as it is supposed to be before you are two towns over realising they forgot the last B in the BBBQ order. Me as a cowboy: [reads smudged writing on hand] Yeee-huh?

However, there were very few bean sprouts, but plenty of basil. There was such a small portion of the rice noodles. When I placed my door dash order I noticed that there was an option to add extra noodles for $4. Extra veggies (bean sprouts, lime, jalapeño and basil) is $3. That's on top of already paying $21 for the large Pho because I add "extra beef ball" that is $4. And this round, there was a huge chunk of gristle in a piece of the meatball. The brisket was also fatty and had hard pieces that cannot be eaten. It is frustrating that they reduce the portion and charge you extra to actually get the portion you're paying for. The broth is still very good. I was in such a rush yesterday preparing for the freeze that's coming, that I failed to take a picture. Consistently disappointed with the food delivery. I'm going to visit in person and see what's different. Because there shouldn't be any difference.

I rarely ever write reviews unless I felt very strongly about my experience. The ambiance was nice,…read moremy family and I came in sometime after lunch rush, so there really wasn't a big crowd and we ordered immediately. we ordered a pretty simple meal of the farmer spring rolls, popcorn chicken, and a banh mi with a milk tea. As takeout, we expected better timeliness on our food coming out and ended up waiting about 30 minutes (after asking the workers twice) for everything to arrive. Other than the popcorn chicken, everything else is a food that can be assembled right at the front-- yet we saw none of that happening for a really long time. We're viet-- we know how spring rolls and banh mi are made and these are very simple, fast foods to assemble. There seemed to be only three workers in the front but were scattered and walking around without clear direction of what they needed to do. Also, they ran out of receipt paper but didn't tell us anything about what our order number was until we had to go in the front to ask after a while of our food not coming out. When we asked a second time about the status of our order they finally started on making our milk tea. As for the spring rolls, i could tell the person assembling them might be on the newer side since she was rolling and wrapping a little slowly. However, i was disappointed that when i opened my order, the rice paper wasn't even wrapped all the way around and ingredients spilled all over. it was quite a messy lunch for the amount of time we waited. ALSO, they didn't have my peanut sauce. The food was genuinely very good and i'm decently satisfied with the food quality, but I'm pretty upset about the lack of attention put into a meal that my family and I were waiting all this time on. especially since there was so little customers in the store at the time. Note for the workers that typically takeout orders should be one of the quicker orders to come out. we were heading to the airport and came in to a spring rolls place expecting a quick and simple lunch to bring in. I recommend coming for the quality ingredients and food. it was enjoyable and not bad if you want authentic Viet. However, you might also have to expect supppper slow service and workers that won't really pay attention to you unless you speak up.
