This is an old school, small group of friends, traditional barbecue place that is being eclipsed by chain fast food similacria. It's not the same thing, and once this echo of the past is gone you'll only have reviews like this and some sort of past tense FOMO. From the fading menu on the wall, to ordering through little windows, to the screened in dining area, all of this screams love from a time gone by. The service is as good as you make it, because you are picking up the food from the other little window and bringing it over to your table. Every time I get a baked potato with chopped bbq on top, it is always consistently delicious! The pea salad is incredible! Be prepared to wait a few minutes. There is no voice box in the drive thru. This little place doesn't look like much but the service is great and the food is good! They offer a daily special and you can call in an order for pick up, which is super convenient. All my orders have been ready for pick up within 15min! Outdoor seating available via screened in porch. No "indoor" seating. I've eaten here a few times, the food is good. Great serving sizes, they will pour the bbq sauce over you meats and the sweet tea is always on par. The brisket isn't the "best I've ever had" but it's pretty good. The baked potatoes are huge and they don't skimp on toppings. The ladies are great at offering recommendations and super sweet people in general. Dogs on leash are allowed. We ordered the baked potato with chopped beef. 2 meat plate with sausage and chicken. Added a sausage wrap. Cherry and Peach Cobbler. The 2 meat plate had 1/2 servings of meat and was pathetic. The baked potato was the best thing we bought but it was NOT great. Also, hardly any meat! "Sausage wrap" means sausage on bread with spoiled bbq sauce. You would expect that a BBQ restaurant would make their meat the showcase. Here, the meat is like an after thought. Now let's talk about the cobbler. The person who took our order hyped it up 100%. Great salesperson. However, what was served is better to be described as canned pie filling. There was no crumble or crust in it AT ALL. I'm not being dramatic-- it didn't exist in either container for either of the flavors. If I could rate it a solid zero, I would. Save your money and drive further out somewhere else. Kind of exactly like you think it's going to be from the name "Hut"! You walk up and order at the window and they also have a drive thru window so orders can take a while since everyone is there for take out. The ranch potatoes were the best side but still not wonderful and a very small portion (4oz cups) the green beans were okay, and the Mac and cheese was almost flavorless. Let them know that I was bringing food back next day and wanted a refund. Also placed another order at same time for over $50.00 for chopped beef sandwiches which were served squashed and soggy. You have to be looking for it but it's just west of 1488 & 1774 intersection on 1488. Just go down two stoplights. I get the Link & Chopped or Sliced Beef with pickles onion and jalapeño. Blackberry cobbler heated up. Extra BBQ sauce, I like it wet and a pink lemonade. They also have a Burrito Supreme that's very yummy. Everything is good. They serve quality meat here - ribs, sausage, ham, chicken, and beef are always delicious and the sauce is at the top of my BBQ sauce list. A sliced beef sandwich overflowing with sauce and fresh onions is my heaven! That being said, we have been shown the reluctant or annoyed attitude that other reviewers mention the very few times we have needed to knock on the window for a forgotten item. Sliced beef sandwich for $6 is the way to go - My husband always orders a two meat plate $12 and my sandwich is usually a larger portion of meat, even though it is just beef. I dig their macaroni salad and baked beans, but twice I was disappointed with the green beans. They sometimes come out mushy and greasy and I end up tossing them.The watergate salad desert (see menu for description) was way too sweet for me, but I definitely had to give it a try. Stopped by here on a quiet Sunday and received our orders in about 5 minutes. The food was pretty good and the prices are fair. I had a loaded baked potato which came with plenty of toppings. The skin was good and not dried out, which is always the chance you take with a baked potato. The BBQ beef sandwich was great and had just the right amount of sauce. The drawback was having to eat in the truck because it was 100° and the only dining option is outside. I would like to go back and try some of the desserts. We really enjoy their loaded baked potatoes. Potatoes are freshly baked and whatever meat we add is always tender with good flavor.

This remains my favorite bbq in the state. Historically they haven't ranked high in customer service, but that tide seems to have turned on that metric. Tonight's service was incredibly polite, even though they were obviously closing soon. The chopped beef sandwich remains the sandwich by which I measure all others. Moist beef, tasty but light sauce, large bun, and the obligatory two pickles and some onion. My wife enjoyed the baked potato, which is incredibly large, and covered in a half-pound of toppings. I can't imagine what it must look like of you actually get bbq on top as they suggest. And finally the pièce de résistance, a pound of the state's best smoked brisket. Moist, but not too fatty. Burnt ends, but from a pitmaster who doesn't subscribe to the 'char' is a flavor trend. Just a wonderful meal in the cool, open air porch in the country. read more

Nasty, oh my! I have never ever had sweet barbeque sauce poured on my baked potato, I mean really sweet. The only thing that was tasty about my potato was the potato itself, the sidings added to the potato didn't taste well due to the sweet sauce being poured over it. Will not be revisiting this place, it is exactly what its name says it is a Hut. Driveway into, around, and through out the grounds is dirt and mud, full of deep holes from big heavy vehicles and trucks, meaning you have to drive extremely slow. The biggest set back for this place is the rudeness for most anyone that has ever worked here. Once again today. Dipshit dude inside stares at you for a minute or two until he finally opens the window to take your order. Today when it's ready he opens the window, plops the order on the counter and closes the window. No thanks, no nothing. I haven't been here in awhile, not remembering why I didn't like this place, but last night quickly jogged my memory. Decided to go for the chopped beef sandwich. I had the opportunity to watch them make my sandwich from the window to see them pull the chopped beef from the fridge out of ziplock bag. No big deal, they never claimed to serve fresh BBQ I guess. Finally got my sandwich to bite into the nastiest, sweet, Sloppy Joe-like BBQ. On top of the awful taste, the outside of the bun was completely hard and stale, indicating that it had been microwaved along with the chopped beef. The only reason this review didn't get one star was because the mac & cheese was good after I stirred in the remaining BBQ mush droppings. However, last I checked, I was going to a place that specialized in BBQ, hence the name of the place, not the Mac & Cheese Hut. On top of that, service was incredibly slow despite the obvious use of a microwave. Now I remember why I've only been going to Reveille BBQ down the street. I've tried out this place several times, so those of you that are saying that "this is the best BBQ in the state" are either nutty or are working for them. read more

I Apparently went to the wrong window to order my food when the cashier came to the window clearly upset that I chose the wrong window I lost my appetizer.
