Short version: My cat got poked in the eye, her eye was cloudy and red. Took her to TrueCare and the vet told me (after 3 hours of waiting in the car) she either has leukemia and is going to die or it's nothing at all and will go away on it's own. Said there was "no way" the eye irritation could be from the fact that she got poked in the eye while playing. These people are con artists, emotional manipulators, and only want your money. This place should honestly be shut down by an animal protective agency because they do not give a shit about your pet. They also do not give a shit about you and are wildly uncompassionate with their delivery of information. Do not ever go here. Long version: I wish that there was an option for 0 stars. I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews but I'm really doing this for the sake of other pets and pet parents because I don't want anyone to have to go through what my cat and I experienced. My young healthy cat was playing and got poked in the eye which lead to some redness in her eye. Everything else about her behavior and demeanor was normal, happy, and healthy. The next day I noticed her eye was a bit cloudy and got freaked out and took her to True "care" for pets. First off they completely lied to me on the phone telling me they would be able to see her in about 20-30 minutes and that we'd have no problem getting in. We waited in the car for TWO HOURS for them to see her. Using Covid as and excuse not even to bring her inside (I get that I can't come in but now you're forcing my cat to sit in the car for that long with no litter box or water) this is not like a dog that I can go take out to go to the bathroom. Every time I checked in with them about the status of when she'd be allowed in they were always pushing it back. 20 more minutes. 30 more minutes. You'll be soon. I felt totally forgotten about and like my cat didn't even matter to them at all. But I was desperate to have her seen because I was worried about potential long-lasting damage to her eye and this leading to blindness (she's only 2). When they finally took her in, multiple people kept asking me the same questions over and over like they were not keeping track or communicating with each other about what the problem was. They kept her inside for at least 45 minutes to do very basic tests, never asked for her medical history and then proceeded to tell me she "MOST LIKELY HAS LEUKEMIA...or that it's nothing at all and will go away on it's own." WTF?! Never asked if she had been vaccinated against Feline Leukemia (which she had) and other feline infectious diseases (which she had) this uneducated con artist of a vet told me there was "no way" this eye irritation could have been from the poke in her eye from playing. Well turns out I took my cat to a feline ophthalmologist and guess what! The poke caused the irritation in her eye. We got a bunch of testing done to make 100% sure that there were no underlying causes and she is fully healthy. So thanks, TrueCare for pets for making me spend $1300 for no reason! You guys suck and I hope you go out of business. read more

I brought two of my dogs here on separate occasions, both during emergency situations. The check-in process is always quick and efficient, and they were great at keeping me updated on the condition of my pets. I can't say enough about how genuine and caring the doctors are. They each spoke to me personally and kept me in the loop every step of the way. They even followed up after my dogs were released from their care. Thank you Dr. Leonard, Dr. Soto, and Dr. Lottati for taking care of our CoCo and Puki. They are both doing great because you and your staff were thorough and quick to diagnose, and provided them with the proper care. I've been meaning to write this review for years now. Every time I want to sit down and do it, I think, "don't waste your energy on this." But today, I'm feeling just petty enough to sit down and tell this place how I feel about them. Too Long Didn't Read (TLDR): F*#K this place. They don't care about animals, only care about that $$$, and will euthanize your pet before carefully weighing all options. Apathetic nurses and soulless staff made the whole experience something I never forget. Still makes me sick when I think about it. The Story: I had to bring my cat to this vet due to an emergency situation where he had crystallization in his bladder which was blocking him from being able to pee. (Pretty common in male cats). They proceed to administer a catheter, and ton's of other stuff he DID NOT NEED! The female nurse/doctor told me that my cat would have to undergo expensive surgery (over 10k between overnight and anesthesia, etc.) or be put down. Luckily my fiance was there with me (because I was having a meltdown.) She calmly found another vet in the area that performed this specific surgery that is COMMON FOR MALE CATS. We went there and spend less than 1k and my cat is still living to this day because of that doctor. In summary, this place will take your animal, make you sign a waiver, and begin siphoning your money up until the point where they either kill your animal, or gut you for over ten thousand dollars. By the way, I still owed them about 5k for the overnight and catheter which did nothing but torture and scare my cat even more. Conveniently they have their own credit which they were happy to sign me up for. Luckily I was able to pay it all off before getting hit with interest charges. I went to TrueCare in an absolute panic late last night when my cat nearly suffocated himself trying to get his collar off. The care we received was immediate, the staff was so kind, and after cleaning up the blood and having 3 vet techs check him, they did not charge me since the wound didn't require serious attention past the cleanup. My Samoyed's stomach had turned in on itself (Bloat) and he had hours to live and we were rushed to TrueCare from another vet and once we pulled in to their parking lot there were fantastic, once they concluded it was Bloat, they were in surgery within the hour. They cared for my baby so well, calling me twice a day and sending me text updates with pictures and messages about how is acting. They quoted me a range and it ended up costing a bit less than expected, giving me financial updates through text, which was really nice. Dr Fontes and Dr Soto did the surgery and after care as he was there for 4 days. The techs were awesome and really caring, especially Gretchen. They did not tell me until I waited for over 2 1/2 hours that I had to sit in my car with my seriously injured pet for another 6 to 8 hours. If I left the parking lot then the time would start all over again. My pet needed water and I had to use the restroom but this made no difference. I saw three very feisty happy looking dogs walking via leash who all were admitted and all of whom came after me. The reason I was given is they were critical and my pet was stable. I tired to get at least an estimate of time but got literally several different stories. A good friend told me to go immediately to Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group. She assured me they would treat me well and as importunely my pet. As I signed in to SOVG, I told one of the people who worked there what had happened at True Care, the woman next to me who had her pet in hand said, True Care is just horrible but you'll like it here, they really care. There is one Internist Medicine veterinarian that tops all veterinarians.  Her name is Dr. Myna Lottati of True Care for Pets located in Studio City.  My dog has been under her care since October 2020.  No matter what is wrong with my dog, Sissy, I always turn to Dr. Lottati for advice.  Sissy is under a neurologist care, but I do not give her any medication without asking Dr. Lottiti's advice.  No matter how many times I email her or what time it is, she always responds back to me rapidly.  I don't know what I would have done this past year, as my dog had seizures and has inflammation of the brain, without Dr. Lottati's advice and care.  Anyone who has her for their animal is very lucky.  She is one heck of a veterinarian and person. I found True Care through another vet that had no openings. My baby Spotty had been missing and when he came back, I noticed he had an infection in his mouth. Long story short, the doctor informed me that he has a lot of chronic issues that I didn't know about because he came to my backyard as a stray 7 years ago. They estimated Spotty's age to be around 12 years old, so he's lived a long life for a kitty. Unfortunately, I had to make the difficult decision to put Spotty down because he had no quality of life anymore. The entire staff was so comforting and patient with me. They provided me a private room to spend time with Spotty before putting him down. This was Wednesday April 19th. Today, I came home to a hand written letter from the clinic with their condolences. It was the sweetest thing I have ever gotten from a vet clinic. I appreciate their kindness and patience with me as I had to make one of the hardest decision a pet owner can make. My poor puppy apparently swallowed a sock, blanket tag, and some stuffing from inside a plushie toy... Our regular vet referred us to TrueCare and we rushed him in after a solid 24 hours of vomiting and no eating/drinking. The staff at the front desk was prompt, friendly, empathetic, and informative. Our dog was examined immediately and a detailed outline of procedures and costs were given to us very quickly. They gave us options, but our mind was made up to go with the best option for our situation. Surgery. My friends husband and my sister-in-law are both vets in different cities and they both agreed with the TrueCare vets medical opinion. Dr. Soto performed surgery that same day and my dog stayed over night for 48 hours. I might have called 25 times within those hours and the staff was still very quick with responses, empathetic to our situation, and informative with Dr info, and status of our pup. Desiree and Ari took especially great care of our baby and answered all my questions during his discharge to come home! The facility is very clean and inviting. There's an awesome coffee machine in the lobby. The entire staff is super friendly and prompt. I hope we never have to go back LoL, but if we do, there's no other place I trust to take as good of care as TrueCare for Pets. read more

TrueCare has done an awesome job adjusting their business to ensure safety for their employees and patrons due to COVID. They have a text message/phone call system and come out to the parking lot to get your pet, all paperwork and payment is submitted online. Dr. Ruppe was very kind and stayed on the phone with me addressing all my questions and concerns about my dogs injury and aftercare. We have been a few times before for after hours emergencies, and have always been treated respectfully and had a great experience. Our poor girl needed to have surgery on her ear from a dog attack and they did an amazing job - you cannot tell she had a significant ear injury. Yes, they do ask you to pay a deposit of the highest possible cost estimate upfront, which is stressful and can be a jarring number. I totally understand why that is necessary, they cant always predict what the final cost will be prior to assessing the animal. We have always received a reimbursement because the cost ended up being less than the estimate. I find their prices to be fair based on the emergency services they offer and the care they provide. I know not everyone gets the outcome they wish for when dealing with a sick pet. My deepest condolences to anyone who is suffering a loss, or has need of an emergency vet. I had a very sick 14 y/o cat. She had an infection, and high fever. My vet had her all day trying to get her fever down to no avail. My vet doesn't have 24 hour care. It was Friday night at 5:00, and I had to find a 24/7 facility. I drove from Glendale to Pasadena and was turned away because the Dr. there felt she needed a specialist. Then drove back to southern Glendale only to find that facility "at capacity". TrueCare was the next closest, and last hope without driving an hour; it was already 8:00pm. Dr. Wu called after my cat had been taken in for assessment. She was very clear in her communication, and very kind and understanding. They took her in, and the next morning I heard right away from Dr. Sibrian, who was on for the day shift. She called me every few hours with updates. We decided to bring our cat home that night. She still wasn't eating, and was still pretty sick, but I knew she'd be more comfortable. We brought her home with a giant bag of meds. On Sunday, we made plans to call the at-home euthanasia dr. on Monday morning. When she seemed to be feeling a little better Monday, so we decided to call on Tuesday. Well, it's Saturday, and I still haven't called. She has been home for a solid week. She continues to improve. We are baffled that she has recovered so far. She is eating normally, we have her on just the antibiotics. She isn't truly out of the woods, but she is very close to being herself. We might have her 6 weeks or 6 months or?? We are so thankful for extra time while she is feeling good. I know that cost is a huge factor when our pet is in need. I don't believe that ANY vet (or vet tech or vet assistant or vet receptionist) goes into this field to make a million dollars. They do it because they have an affinity for animals. You have to take into consideration a few things here: 1) this is a 24/7 emergency care facility. To be there for you at any moment. There's a price for that, just like your local hospital for people. 2)Location, location, location. Studio City has some of the most expensive real estate around. They have to pay rent here. It's not cheap--but I don't know of ANY emergency facility that is any cheaper. I do feel that I got the care that I paid for. 3) Every case is different. It will not always be the outcome you hoped for. This is what we silently agree to suffer when we bring pets into our home. Vets are human beings. They are trying to help. TLDR: I was so thankful that TrueCare was able and willing to help. My cat had good care, and doctor communication was timely and clear. Bindi is on the mend! No one expected her to live. TL;DR - In short, Dr. Soto/True Care sets the global gold standard for vets hands down. We live in Central LA but it was well worth the commute to get the level of service and empathy that the True Care team provided, specifically: Dr. Soto and her teammate Brando/Hema as well as Dr. Ireifej (my apologies if there were other staff members involved behind the scenes that I did not know to mention). For a tragic situation - our beloved dog diagnosed with cancer - Dr. Soto and the True Care staff really helped to offset additional stress in finding a solution through consistent communication, empathetic tone, patience, and generous value add service. Before discovering True Care (via a fateful recommendation), we had visited 2 other allegedly top notch hospitals in Los Angeles. None of their doctors or staff had left us with a feeling of confidence that they had upmost ambition to save our senior dog or were paying close attention even. Frankly, it seemed they couldn't be bothered to fake it and they all had this polished McVeterinary millions-served vibe. Those other doctors' flippant and unreliable style of communication, cut-and-dry style of billing, left us feeling like it was more about maxing an ROI on our dog's situation. None of them really demonstrated that they understood the plight of a seriously sick dog parent - both financially and emotionally. Perhaps this is par for the course and if it is then it further attests to the distinguishing caliber of service and accommodating attitude that True Care provided. In hindsight, I daresay that this same level of flippancy is probably how our dog's cancer got to the level it did. We our vigilant dog parents that take our dog at least twice a year for checkups, if not more, and for the amount of money we have spent on tests and diagnostics it blows our mind that smoke to a fire was overlooked. While our dog was in-patient, Dr. Soto knew that we would be holding our breath waiting for updates. During the peak of it, she proactively reached out to us twice a day and always welcomed us to check-in as much as we needed to. She was also highly responsive by email well outside regular business hours and you could tell that she had a passion for her work. There are a good deal of other attributes about True Care (e.g. open 24 hours, err on the side of caution, patients are hand fed and closely monitored, waived fees for followup procedures that other hospitals would definitely have charged for, accommodate you visiting to spend time and feed dog while it's in-patient, etc.) I could probably drum up half a dozen more examples. In closing, four paws and two thumbs up for the live saving Dr. Soto and the True Care hospital. read more

Our 7 year old mastiff stole a 3lb pot roast that was wrapped in about 3ft of cooking twine and ate the whole thing before we even knew it was gone. We were obviously panicked because twine can cause major a obstruction in her digestive track. We took her to TrueCare so they could medically induce vomiting before it was digested. First, I would like to acknowledge that their COVID procedures were incredibly professional. They had us wait outside in the car, which was to be expected, but they were able to send us all of the forms and payment info electronically. It was seemless. They communicated via text and phone calls while we waited in the car and truly did a fantastic job at keeping everyone safe. Dr. Marino evaluated and administered the procedure on our girl. She was professional, knowledgeable, and really great to talk to. I was impressed with her patience with us at 11pm on a Sunday night. Christopher was the vet tech that explained the procedure and kept us updated on the phone. He was awesome and was also knowledgeable, patient, incredibly friendly and able to answer all of our questions to keep us at ease. Dave was the vet tech that took care of our girl while she was at the hospital. He went so far to search through her vomit to make sure that all of the twine came up. Talk about going above and beyond! Dave brought her out to us when she was discharged and he was also incredibly friendly and you could really tell that he truly cared about the well being of our girl. This was my cat Dr. Gonzo's second time here. First time he was not doing well and then given maybe 9 months to live. You rescued him and extended his life, but alas, 3 years later he was back. Dr. Heather Madden was incredible. He was critical when we arrived and she was so kind and thoughtful for those who realized what the option was. I'm so grateful to Dr. Madden and all the staff. Even though they deal with this on a daily basis, we felt so welcomed and made our mourning process so much easier. First of all they charge $350 for X-rays which is entirely way too expensive when you can get X-rays at a decent dental office for $200. Go to kinder 4 Rescue or gateway animal Hospital for $150 X-rays, unless you need them done on a Sunday, and that's unfortunately when you'll need to go to a place that charges over double. Oh, and they charge $100 for a doctors visit vs the average $50. Their crazy prices weren't even my issue after my cat Chunky's vet visit... it was the fact that the vet came in for literally 3 minutes, just to tell me that my cat would need to have surgery after breaking his leg. They quoted me 5-6k or 6-8k by two different staff members, instead of waiting for their surgeon to make a proper assessment as to wether or not he would even need surgery, vs scaring the hell out of me and giving me misinformation. Chunks broke his leg at the end of 2018, right around the holidays. This was a nightmare because I was pregnant and due at the beginning of January, and also because there weren't surgeons around because most were out of town visiting their families. I was in a panic because the price was so expensive, and TrueCare told me I would "have to get him surgery with pins, or amputate his leg". Anyways, I finally spoke with a surgeon at the Sam Simon Foundation (they're amazing by the way), and he told me the most amazing news! He said that if Chunks was his cat, he would give him a chance to let his leg heal on its own. He said he's seen some incredible broken leg recovery's. He told me to give him 8 weeks of supervised care and if it didn't heal, he would amputate his leg. Needless to say, 9 weeks later, my cat could literally jump, run, kick, and stand on his hind legs again. It's a little crooked, but at least he has his leg back AND I don't have to pay 8 grand to a company that's largely in it for the peso. I finally had an honest surgeon that had nothing to gain by being honest with me, unlike TrueCare that saw a way of pocketing a good chunk of cash for their new renovations. You guys have NO idea how scared AND hopeless it made me feel by giving me a half ass diagnosis, that wasn't based off any real fact from a professional surgeon. You shouldn't speak with such conviction to someone in such a vulnerable position, regarding something you aren't for sure about. Oh, and thanks for noticing the road rash my cat had on the leg that wasn't broken, after he was hit by the car. If you'd spent just another minute on my cat you would have seen that the skin on his leg was raw, and that you should have mentioned it to me, or disinfected/wrapped it up. It's the least you could have done for charging me a $750 bill that got me a 3 minute visit with a doctor, some pain meds, and an X-ray. I was referred to Dr. Soto at True Care For Pets from my veterinarian due to a large fatty tumor on my dogs (Bizzy) chest. Dr. Soto was very nice and answered all my questions during our consultation. I was able to schedule Bizzy's surgery for the following week. Bizzy came through the surgery very well and was required to spend the night. Dr. Soto kept me informed of her progress and put my mind at ease. Although I hated to leave Bizzy overnight, I knew she was in good hands. When I picked Bizzy up the next day Ari met me and explained the medications and discharge instructions for my little girl. Ari gave me the opportunity to ask questions. I did not feel rushed or that the staff was in a hurry, in fact, everyone I came in contact with from the front counter staff to all the people/techs (Brittany, Tiff, Chris, and Josh) involved with Bizzy's care were caring and a pleasure to deal with. After getting Bizzy home I noticed she was having difficulty with one of her medications. I emailed Dr. Soto the next morning and within a half-hour she returned my email with her recommendation(s) and she reassured me not to be too worried and if I had any other concerns to contact her again. True Care for Pets truly cares. My dog Buddy is 15 years old had an emergency yesterday and I couldn't get a hold of my vet. I was panicking and looked up emergency vet services on Yelp. True Care came up. I live in West Hollywood and wasn't sure about the drive. Something in my gut told me to go and I couldn't have been more pleased. Everyone there was so helpful and caring. Molly and Austin at the front desk, Dr. Yamamoto, and Chris the doctors assistant were all awesome. Dr. Yamamoto checked out my little guy and informed me of what she thought was going on. Amazing!!!! So glad I took notice of where this 24hr pet clinic was, as they saved my 6 month old puppy who was choking on a piece of a stick she had found in the backyard. It was a Sunday afternoon so my regular Vet was closed and I was obviously panicking. She was gagging and writhing in pain and the stick was so far down I couldn't get it. I remembered seeing this clinic and ran in. They took my puppy straight in, and within two minutes they brought her out happy and smiling. The staff could not have been more friendly and supportive, and they didn't even charge me anything!!! This is definitely my go to place for both of my dogs from now on. Originally I gave TrueCare a one star rating. I've learned that they were following Covid protocol. That's why I couldn't be with my kitty during her examination. She definitely was upset by the experience unlike her experience with her normal vets. Since I wasn't with her I have no idea why she reacted the way she did when she got home. Like an infant she can't tell me what's wrong. She hissed at her sister and everything near her sister. She had to be close to me for a couple of days. Typically she would be upset with me for a couple of hours and seeking out her sister for cat sympathy. The price of the visit and medication was very reasonable. read more

My dog was referred here because her liver was failing and her regular vet did not have the specialized staff and equipment to work with her. Dr. Lottati was patient and informative and her assistant, Kat was prompt and kind at every step. It's about 5:30 am and we just got back from TrueCare for Pets. My neighbor's senior kitty started having age-related issues over the last several months. Late last night, Puppy (the cat) had an urgent situation and my neighbor took Puppy to a nearby vet that's open late. My neighbor was upset so he was getting confused by the information he was receiving there. When he called to update me on Puppy I decided to run down to meet him at that vet. We talked some more with the staff there and my neighbor ultimately decided to wait to see Puppy's regular vet first thing today. Then my neighbor called me in the middle of the night in a panic about Puppy. Puppy had taken a turn and I said I'd take them to TrueCare right then. We arrived around 4:45 am. It's so clean and quiet, and calm but efficient. They took Puppy to be seen by the doctor who, when she came to speak to us, was clear and prepared and kind and honest. Letting our pets go is such a hard decision to make to begin with and having professional, honest, best-for-pet guidance is so very helpful. My neighbor chose to let Puppy go; no heroic measures. They immediately made Puppy comfortable and then calmly and serenely helped him pass. My neighbor is missing his best buddy really bad right now but is both very relieved that Puppy is out of pain and very grateful for the treatment both he and Puppy received at TrueCare for Pets. If you need serious off-hours pet care from a knowledgeable, supportive, honest team then you should go to TrueCare for Pets. They were the help my neighbor needed. read more

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE EVER!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG! My boyfriend brought our dog in for neurological issues. She was walking in circles and did not know where she was. We did not know if she fell and hit her head. I was working and my boyfriend called me saying they needed my credit card to run some tests on her. The doctor told my boyfriend that this breed (Boston Terrier's) are known for having brain tumors so now he was even more worried. They said they needed to do some X-rays, urine samples and blood work, etc (which she just had a full blood panel done prior from her vet). My boyfriend gave them our dogs blood work but they said they needed to check it again. $1700 dollars later he left with a pill for her ears. My dog still has the same issues so I decided to look at the bill to see what they did. I wasn't sure why they took an X-ray of her so I called to speak to the doctor. The girl who answered was very rude from the beginning and said the doctor is very busy and she does not know when she could call me back. She asked me what was wrong and I said I wanted to know what kind of X-ray was done? The girl said the X-ray was to check her stomach. I said why did they check her stomach and not her brain when the issue is neurological. I told her I would like to leave my number to have the doctor call me so I can go over these tests performed. As I was giving her my number she just put me on hold without saying anything so I continued to talk until I realized no one was on the phone. So I waited. I kept waiting until I finally hung up. I called back and got another girl named Carla (who seemed to be very pleasant) I explained to her what just happened and she told me the doctor was there and she will put me on hold and have the doctor speak to me. Then a man gets on the phone. I was confused because Carla referenced the doctor as a she so I asked the man if he was the doctor. He said no, he's the manager Josh. I asked to speak to the doctor. He said the doctor is right next to me but she is too busy so I would need to talk to him. I started to explain how I felt the first girl wasn't very caring and I was concerned with my dog and what tests were performed. Before I could say anything else Josh was going on and on about how I am making assumptions about the first girl. I said well I can explain why I felt that way. He would not let me explain. I started getting frustrated. I said I don't care about that girl. I just want to talk to the doctor about my dog. Josh kept still talking about the girl and how he's trying to help. I let him ramble on and on and I said if you let me speak then I can tell you my concerns with the tests. Nope this guy would not stop with his comments and not letting me talk. I finally lost it. I told him if he would just be quiet for a second he could help but he would not shut up. Then he hung up. Honestly I have never taken my dog to an emergency or a vet that was rude like this. They were not trying to help. You can't speak to the doctor and the staff is not caring at all. They ONLY care about taking your money. I started to look at the reviews and so so many people have had similar situations with them. I wish I had looked at these before I had gone. Never again!!! read more

I know there is soo many animal care centers. Truely very grateful and thankful I went to you guys at TrueCare for pets. Duke is such a huge part not just in my life, but that of my family. I cannot express my full appreciation of Avery, Ari, and of course Dr. Soto. Thank you for helping me out during this time with Duke's surgery and post surgery. I love this place. Last year on Easter Sunday I had to take my two dogs because we went to a house and my dogs ate rat poison. The owner of the house had noticed that the rat food was missing. I had no idea which dog or when they had ate the rat poisoning. I was so hysterical looking for an open vet when I stopped at a Petco. The cashier had recommended TrueCare. I rush over there and they took my dog in right away. The girls in the front were very calming and understanding of my situation. The doctor even spent time with me outside to reassure me my dog would be okay. I was well informed and not once felt like it was BS. One of my dogs only ate the rat poison and he lived because of these loving people. If it's hard to find an emergency vet, please come here. Even if the drive is further than expected. These guys really helped my cat out offered a injection for antibiotic which is great because my cat is so picky with meds. They gave me a great price I believe. I'm thankful they were there late at night for my cat who had a ruptured abscess. These people are working during this covid 19 pandemic so big shout out to them for taking care of our pets! read more
