I had gotten 2 other quotes for replacing my 12 year old carpet prior to randomly finding Truewest Carpet while driving down Canoga Avenue in Canoga Park. First, I was greeted by a very friendly associate. I apologise if I get his name wrong but I will call him George. I was impressed by the spacious showroom and samples. I perused some of the hardwood and carpet samples and he was very proactive and helpful in answering my questions. If he didn't know something he got on the phone and found out the answer. I noticed right away that the per yard prices for the Shaw carpet I was looking for were reasonable and less then my previous two quotes. George said I could take home samples and he helped me to my car with them. He gave me the owner's cell phone number and Joe came by my house later that day to measure my house and pick up the samples. Joe gave me a written quote a couple days later and it was less than I had previously gotten from other places. I had picked out a white Carpet and Joe asked if I really wanted a white carpet? It got me thinking that maybe I didn't because I have black cats that shed and the white carpet would've been a big mistake. I'm glad that Joe had shared with me his opinion from his experience. I went back to the showroom and decided on a more expensive Kane carpet which had a pattern. I researched the prices online and asked Joe if he would meet another company's price. He agreed to reduce the price per yard which included materials, installation, padding and tax. He sent me a revised written quote with an additional charge for a waterproof padding that I requested and a charge to remove some tile. Both additional quotes were reasonable. It took a couple weeks for the carpet to come in, but once it did George called me to set up the Installation. The first day the installers arrived right on time and there were 4 to 6 people there that day to remove the old carpet on the stairs and on the second and third floors. The owner also was there as well. The job took four days. I was very impressed with the high quality work. The installers were friendly, polite, and worked diligently, moved heavy furniture, (e.g. I have a Sleep Number bed and I was worried about the disconnect and reconnect but it was done properly. They were also very careful with my large screen TVs). The installers cleaned up prior to leaving each day. One day they were 10 minutes late. I called George and he was on the phone with the installers right away to give me an ETA. They arrived 10 minutes later. The owner stopped by the job every day to make sure it was progressing correctly. Because it was a patterned carpet there had to be expert matching. I told Joe the carpet in my closet was loose and he had them fix it. I questioned one of the seams that appeared to have some space on the floating stairs and when they came the next day they re-did that stair. All in all I highly recommend Truewest Carpet, they are ethical, have reasonable and fair prices, excellent customer service and attention to detail from the owner, the showroom associate and the installers as well as the delivery people. After looking at all of our options, we decided to have Yossi replace our carpet in 4 bedrooms, hallway, loft and stairs. Yossi visited our home, made recommendations regarding durability, color and direction the carpet should be laid. From the extensive selection of carpet samples in his showroom, we were able to compare carpet options and either take home samples or order free samples delivered directly to our home so that we could compare and decide. The process was very easy and simple. The installation took one day with professional installers who stayed as late as need be to get the job done. I've probably gone to about 5 different carpet stores in order to have them measure and give me quotes but I have to say that my interactions with Joe and the TrueWest showroom employees was my best experience by far. Not only were they friendly, but they were knowledgeable and also NOT pushy. I really appreciated that. When Joe came to measure my home he was very detail oriented. Besides new carpeting upstairs, I want a runner for my stairs and other companies did not give me the time of day to care about the result of what it would look like. Joe actually took the time to sit on the staircase and study it in order to come up with a plan for how to do it correctly and elegantly. I'm very happy to say that even though I haven't gotten started on my carpet job yet, I really felt like I was dealing with people who cared about the quality of their work. read more

We are going to be remodeling our bathroom soon and getting new vanities, tile etc. They answered all of my questions and then some. Their selection was large and I found them to be very knowledgable. I am comfortable with them because they have over 20 years of experience. I asked them why I should use them instead of Lowes or Home Depot and I was surprised that they could answer.. they gave me VERY good reasons to stick with them. read more

I own a Granada Hills Townhome, and when the current tenant recently moved out, my Real Estate agent recommended replacing the ceramic tile hallway, living room, guest bathroom, and kitchen, with wood grain laminate. Visited a few flooring places in the valley, but decided on Truewest on Canoga Ave, after meeting Yosi (Joe) and David. They were very nice and took the time to show me the various quality levels, colors, and styles. When they notified me that the sample we picked out would take 30 days, and I needed to rent the property out ASAP, they offered me a better grade, available right away at the same price quoted, which was nice of them. Anyway, fast forward to installation day. Yosi told me that the job would be completed Saturday May 6th (old tile removed, floor prep, laminate and base board, all completed in in one day). Great, I trusted Yosi when he said the job would be competed on Saturday, so I scheduled my Real Estate agent to take her photos on Sunday. When I visited the condo Sunday, the installers had removed the toilet to install the laminate, but didn't put the toilet back. They left the toilet drain exposed, and the toilet disconnected. What a disaster, dust all over, refrigerator in the middle of the living room and the disconnected toilet sitting on top of the new laminate. I received a call from Yosi on Monday, telling me the job was completed, and I should check it out. (Apparently he didn't inspect it himself, but wanted me to). I told him I was there yesterday, and the job wasn't completed, as the appliances weren't put back, and the toilet wasn't re-installed. Guess what his reply was: "I'm not a plumber.' He said it wasn't part of the job (can you imagine a flooring professional saying that)? My agent wasted a full day, because Yosi expected me to re-install the toilet, which was removed by his installers. Anyway I shamed him into doing the work, but he wasn't happy about it. Later, I had my handyman clean up the unit, move the refrigerator back, and re-scheduled the photo shoot later in the week. Truewest has a lot of 5 star ratings, and if you check my ratings, I give out a lot of 5 stars too, but only when they are deserved. In my opinion, based on my firsthand experience with them, they are a 1 star operation. Also, I cancelled a future pending job I had with Yosi at another condo I own, based on my poor experience with Truewest Carpet, and I won't use them again. Very unprofessional company. read more

Went in today to look at carpet for our new home. We met with Joe. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They have beautiful carpet, tile, granite, and wood. If you're looking for cheap apartment-type carpet, go to Home Depot, but if you're looking for beautiful, unique carpet, I highly recommend this store! They had carpet that I wouldn't choose for myself, but I admire the beauty of it. We found everything we needed! So easy!! read more

Definitely go somewhere else. Although they have decent selection to choose from, they do not adhere to good business practices, unethical. When purchasing tile needed for kitchen product asked point blank that if I do not use it all, would they take back, they said sure. So now project is completed, I have a box and half of subway tiles left over. I load the, up, take trip to valley to return only to be told at first their would be a 25% restocking fee, fine, whatever, they will rot in my garage anyways, I'll,take the hit. So guy at desk wanders to back office, comes back and says no returns, seriously? Does not say that anywhere on receipt, just make it up as they go along, because companies like this will slowly go out of business due to this type of service, Home Depot, Lowe's, Tile and Floor Center, they all take back returns with zero issue, so K my A True West, never again will i EVER recommend either of your stores to ANYBODY read more

I cannot say enough good things about Joe, David & the TrueWest installers. First of all, Joe came out to measure my stairs and entire upper level for carpet because a small flood in the master bathroom had caused damage to the carpet in our master bedroom. Al of this carpet was high-end, patterned and less than a year old. But, the insurance company (and every contractor who came to bid the job) insisted it all had to be replaced because it would be impossible to match. Joe went above and beyond by hunting down the exact carpet we had and recommending that we only really needed to replace the bedroom. He assured me that his installers would match the pattern and create a seam so invisible that it would look original. I am so pleased that I trusted him! For a fraction of the price, my master is re-carpeted, and it looks like it was always there. In fact, it looks better because the transition they did to my tile bathroom is perfect. David made the whole process painless, and the installers - besides doing an amazing job and taking their time - cleaned-up so well it was hard to tell they'd been there. If you want great pricing, great product AND great workmanship, TrueWest is the only place in the Valley to choose. read more
