Lunch stop after seeing sign outdoors for $9.95 lunch special. Having had plenty of lunches in Thai restaurants in many locations, and having had a general good experience, went in. Overall, the place is very clean, modern, contemporary decor, even a slab of glass embedded on the wall to show the original stone wall behind it, very courteous and professional service by three individuals (server, appetizers person, bus boy). So why the "just ok"? I think the food could be better. In appearance, it was fine: it presented well and looked great. But in terms of food quality, it could (and should) be better. For appetizers, the restaurant serves for the lunch special a small dish of iceberg lettuce laced with lines of some creamy unknown salad dressing and topped with deep-fried rinds of some kind. My advice is to replace this iceberg lettuce with something else, like a cup of soup or a spring roll or a stick of sate' chicken with peanut sauce. The curry is served in a small circular ceramic vase that must have been 4 inches in diameter. I understand the recent trend in downsizing portions in awareness of the obesity epidemic, but then lower the lunch price from $10 to $8, if you are going to serve a curry in such a small size. The cashew beef/pork/chicken dish was abundant in meat, almost twice the size of the curry, so it seemed a better choice, but the cooking oil and grease was evident. Have been in other Thai restaurants where the philosophy is towards healthier farm-fresh ingredients, where the flavor comes from the natural aromas of the plants, and not from a cooking aromatic sauce/grease that is used in fast-food Thai. So, again, human contact and service was excellent, the place is super clean and contemporary, and the food presented itself beautifully, but I know the food quality wasn't great. So I had been a regular customer for some time . . . mostly for delivery but always tipping at least 20% on top of/including the delivery fee and usually more . . . not that theirs is the best Thai around, it's not, but it was convenient. However, after trying to order from them recently and being told off 3 times for a variety of reasons that made no sense based on their hours and previous deliveries, I was at a loss and figured that after the third time, I couldn't find much of any reason to recommend them. I am a Thai food lover, unfortunately, the best Thai is not that close to me, so I happily settled with Try Thai for the time being, but as I said, their dictates of their delivery rules make no sense at times and as such I have given up on them. If you are near them and really looking to satisfy a Thai hunger, they aren't bad, but not worth going out of your way for and their delivery system is so inconsistent and the excuses so mind boggling at times that I've begun to settle on other foods even when I really have a craving for Thai. So again, if you happen to be walking by and have a hankering for Thai, it might be worth a shot, though by no means is it spectacular, and what made them really worth my time anyways, they have regularly failed to deliver on both in the figurative and literal sense. read more

On Saturday night after seeing that the restaurant was open until 10:00, 4 of us decided to stop in for dinner at 915. Upon entering the restaurant it seemed to appear that they were closed as it was mopped and the chairs were all up. When we asked if they were open we were informed that they were but that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. We sat down and out server John got our drink orders and gave us menus. After returning with our drinks he informed us that the kitchen was closing in 5 and that they were only able to do to go orders- which we were not informed of when we entered the restaurant nor when we were seated and asked for our drinks (which was also messed up) we promptly left the restaurant as it was NOT ok that we could only get food to go after being informed that whole the kitchen was closing in 15 (so at 930) the restaurant was indeed open until 10:00 still. This was not good service and while we have enjoyed the food in the past this is a very large deterrent and we will be keeping this in mind next time we are looking for a place to eat- this will not be the place. read more

Myself, my husband, and two or our friends decided to do dinner Saturday night, and while looking for a place to eat that was open, decided to come here- according to google the restaurant was open until 10:00 pm. As we got to the restaurant we discovered that it pretty much looked like they were closed- floors were mopped, and all the chairs were on top of the tables. My husband walked in and asked if they were still open- which they confirmed that they were BUT, that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes (we went in at 9:15). We decided to still go in, despite how uncomfortable we felt with the restaurant appearing closed. Our waiter John came, and took our drink orders after we were sat. He also confirmed at this time that they were indeed open to 10- they were just closing the kitchen at 9:30. After he got our drink orders and gave us menu's, our he returns with our drinks only to tell us that due to the kitchen closing in 5 minutes, we are only able to do to-go orders. At that point, we were all furious. We were sat, handed menus and given drinks before there was ANY mention of only being able to take our food to - go. More than a half an hour BEFORE the restaurant even closes. If you are going to close the kitchen a half hour before the restaurant itself closes, that needs to be advertised. Or just close at 9:30, but don't seat people and give them drinks before even mentioning that. We eat out frequently, and wanted a change of scenery from our normal stop, but we will not be adding this in again any time soon. This was utterly unacceptable, and just bad business. On top of the drinks being screwed up when they were given. You shouldn't be closing your kitchen a half an hour before closing, or even remotely looking closed 45 minutes before your closing, especially on a weekend when people are out and about on Main St. That is a HUGE deterrent for guests. We have had good food here before, but that is not enough to redeem the service we got on Saturday. read more
