We started the evening on a high note -- great spot right by the entrance, lively atmosphere, good first round of drinks. Then things went sideways. After I placed a food order, we were abruptly asked to relocate for a musical act -- no advance warning, no apology. I tried to cancel my food order before it was prepared, but it came out anyway, leaving us stuck with a meal we had to eat outside at a table that simply wasn't set up for dining. I ended up boxing everything up and taking it home. What frustrated me most wasn't the inconvenience itself -- it's that management and the host offered absolutely no warning that this would be happening and nothing in return. A comped drink, a discount, even an acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, nothing. We live two blocks away and would love a neighborhood spot to return to regularly. Right now, that's hard to imagine. Here's hoping management takes customer experience more seriously going forward. read more

The food and drinks were amazing. But hands down, our favorite part of the evening was Heather our bar tender! She made our trip. She is such a wonderful and kind lady! Another great time at Tryst!/ We went late last Saturday night and the food tasted sooooo good. For the first time I tried the maple buffalo chicken wings, and WOW! The flavor exceeded expectations. The sweet maple flavor paired curiously well with the buffalo heat- super savory and dynamic. Was walking by and the music was so good we decided to stop in. Located on Beach Dr it was a quick walk from our hotel in downtown St Pete. Nice outdoor seating with a walkup outdoor bar. Inside features an upscale, inviting, chill vibe and a great place to grab a drink and food. Plenty of beer on tap and they even have Tito's on tap. Mediterranean Platter was the perfect shareable - Roasted Garlic Hummus, Tzatziki, Tabbouleh, Artichokes, Sun- Dried Tomatoes, Pickled Carrots and Celery, Greek Olives, Feta Cheese, Dates and a side Grilled Pita. Tryst wasn't far walking distance-wise from the Birchwood where we were staying for the week. We stopped there for a drink or two at one of the high-top tables while a musician outside of the entrance played a variety of 80s, 90s, and 00s songs. If I heard correctly, she just learned "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode, which she had never heard of before, which was insane to me because she was also playing a bunch of songs that were also released in that era (late 80s and early 90s) that were popular on the radio and on streaming today. But I digress. The velvet booth seat was very cool, situated along the wall with the green lighting, which was a common theme around the bar and the establishment itself. The Bees Knees was a good drink, which I ordered a couple of times. The bartenders were pretty busy with customers, given that it was a Thursday evening, so I had to flag the bartenders down and motion them we were either ready for our next drink or our check. I went here last Saturday with four other guys. We are all middle age and fairly well dressed. I say this qualifier because we have money to spend and I wanted to spend it at this bar. I like that they have a DJ. Unfortunately, the service is really bad. I stood at the bar for 10 minutes with money in my hand while workers swirled all around and no bartender made themselves available. I really wanted to love Tryst Gastro Lounge, but unfortunately, the experience fell short -- mostly due to the service and atmosphere. From the moment we were seated, the service was disappointing. Our waitress seemed uninterested and rushed. When we asked for a moment to look over the menu (though we already knew our drinks), she simply never returned. It was hard to get her attention after that, and overall, the staff came across as inattentive and unprofessional. The environment didn't help either. The air conditioning wasn't on -- or wasn't working -- and the dining room was uncomfortably hot. Add to that the open door in the middle of a Florida summer, and it led to bugs, including roaches, making their way into the main dining area. Not something you want to see while eating. The biggest shame? The food was fantastic. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, and the flavors and presentation were top-notch. But great food alone isn't enough to carry an experience. This place has potential but is in serious need of better management and customer service. Until that changes, they lost us for sure. From the empty tables I would say we are not the only ones. read more

Great location, waitress was nice enough and always nice to have live music, but.... A simple gyro and fries took 40 minutes to arrive and the restaurant was probably at 10% capacity at the most. The solo musician playing outside was a little loud so we decided to dine inside. Barely functional air conditioning and the live music playing on the indoor speakers was louder than outside, so much so that I had a hard time carrying on any type of conversation with the person literally sitting next to me. I may go back and enjoy a drink; however, there are better places on the strip to spend your money IMHO. read more

We sat outside for quite a while without a single server approaching us. I understand it was a busy holiday, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. We stopped in at Tryst Gastropub for a quick dinner before our show. Dinner honestly left a lot to be desired. It was only 7pm and they had already run out of chicken and that was the one gluten free entree on the menu that I wanted. So, I just ended up having a salad because I did not want pasta or the fish of the day. The salad was so not all that great. The fried chickpeas had to be removed so it would be completely free of gluten. The chopped carrots were soft and not crisp. And it came with cucumbers (no cheese) and lettuce. It was supposed to have bacon on it and honestly it looked like less than half a slice of bacon which was a rip off. The salad was 12$. My salad basically cost as much as each of the two meat dishes my husband ordered and my salad didn't even contain a full slice of bacon... Everything else was my husbands food which contains gluten. He is a lot easier ro please since he has no dietary restrictions and was pleased with the wagyu steak kabobs and his fried chicken. I did not even order a drink because a lot of them contained flavored vodka (which is more likely to not be gluten free) or was made with stuff I don't drink (whiskey, Gin, Boubon etc). Qhile the restaurant was nice, they had nice decor, the location is good because it's right next to Flute and Dram and you can listen to their live jazz. We wont be returning just because the menu is kind of limited for me (gluten free options). But we did have a nice time and only spent around 50$ and parked eight out front so everything was super easy. read more

The beet and spinach salad was fresh and the goat cheese spread was generous and tasty with just the right amount of salt and herbs. The blackened mahi tacos looked street size but featured huge portions of fish. The harissa spread had just the right amount of heat to counter the pickled red cabbage and roasted corn. The space has strong lines and contemporary drop lighting over the bar giving the restaurant a sharp, modern esthetic. Overall, Tryst was worth the visit. Food we tried: shishito peppers, parm truffle fries, shrimp tempura, pulled pork sliders, chicken wings.
