The rooftop with the best view of the St Pete Pier & Tampa Bay. It was a Saturday and we ordered champagne flutes. I got the Bellini and it was only $6.95 until 4 PM. I also ordered my all-time favorite espresso reposado and it was so delicious. They make the drinks here really good and strong. I can't wait to come back here. The only downer part about this place you could hear other people's conversations as the tables are very close together, but I feel like it's just probably the type of people that come here they're very bougie and very loud and obnoxious. There was a table behind us and the woman there kept asking us to put our purse at her table so that she could save her table to go look for somebody that was supposed to be meeting her, I mean, how obnoxious can these people be?! We will not be leaving our anything on anybody's table to save it for somebody else. Our server seemed to be very busy. Our first day celebrating my birthday week in Saint Petersburg saw us stay at the Birchwood Inn, where the restaurant Birch and Vine is on the lobby floor and the Birchwood Canopy is on the rooftop (aka fifth floor). As soon as we were settled in our hotel room, we went straight up to the roof top where we engaged in a number of drinks such as the Pom Garden, the Sour Solider, and the Birchwood Old Fashioned. The view overlooking Beach Drive and Tampa Bay is quite a sight whether it is during the day or at night. At night, the skyline of St. Pete illuminates, and it's quite amazing. Just be mindful that if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, you will most likely encounter the bar in club mode where tons of people show with whatever DJ playing dance/r&b/hip hop tunes. At the Canopy you can either grab a bar stool underneath the actual canopy or sit at one of the tables by the railing of the rooftop or around the fire pit. There are also several canopy tents that you can reserve for you and your friends. At night, the tents illuminate in pink lighting. On most days, you can find them having live music performed either acoustically (usually during the daytime) or in DJ-mode at night. For my money, the Sour Solider is very tasty, made with Horse Soldier Straight Bourbon, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Fee Foam, Orange Peel shaped like a lip, and topped with a cherry. The Pom Garden also serves as a refreshing choice for the warm weather of St. Pete at all times of the year, served with Hendricks Grand Cabaret, Pomegranate Juice, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Club Soda, and Lemon. The Barbacoa Wontons, while very deep fried, were very savory and filling with beef and manchego, served with a serrano ranch sauce. And if you want to be classy, the Birchwood Old Fashioned is a solid choice. read more

1) horrible service, it took someone at least 40 minutes to clean off our table and take our drink order. We asked (3) three separate employees for assistance w/o receiving any. It wasn't until we caught a waitress walking by we asked her to help us. 2) we ordered (4) four drinks and the waitress asked for a credit card up front to place the drink order and the part that upsets me was another waitress took an odor at the table next to ours and they ordered (8) drinks and the waitress didn't ask them to pay for their drinks up front. In conclusion our table wasn't cleared off at all, it took 30+ minutes to get someone to place our drinks order and they pay before we get your order really was a slap in the place. This is the second time this has happened to us at this location. It just so happens that there is proof of racial discrimination. You can say that it was a mistake or misunderstanding but when it happens more than once it's not a mistake. Minorities are not allowed here so don't give them your hard earned money. All the high tops along the railings (best views) were taken, but we found a spot on the couches for our party of 4. Our server quickly brought us our menus. Any glass of wine $10 or less is half off, as well as half off their signature cocktails. We ordered wine and mango margaritas. Of the appetizers we ordered, my favorite were the barbacoa wontons. Came for happy hour, stayed til the sun came down! This was my first time at Birchwood Canopy, and it's safe to say I've found my absolute favorite spot to bring friends to for happy hour. Signature cocktails were $8! I got two rounds of the Pom Garden, and it was so delicious. Drinks were strong but you could hardly taste the gin. 10/10! The views were perfect, and even though it was busy we got our drinks fairly quickly. We ordered the Beef Pizzette and the Truffle Fries to snack on. Both were really yummy, but I do think our food was sitting for a bit because it was kind of cold when it got to us. Otherwise, had a really vibey experience. I've been to Birchwood during a bustling night of bar hopping and lazy day drinking, and both times were pretty rad experiences. The intimate patio space with rooftop views make for a desirable drinking atmosphere. During my day visit, my gluten-free PIC and I craved an appetizer to pair with our delicious cocktails. Our lovely bartender recommended the poutine and let us substitute with tots, which turned out to be amazing. I highly recommend trying it this way, maybe they'll add it to their menu. During the night visit the crowd was hot, music was loud, and there was barely any space to move yet people were dancing. The canopy seating was roped off for the fancy groups. The rooftop view is incredible and the cabanas around the perimeter are such a vibe. You can rent a cabana if you plan to go with a group. About a year ago we tried to come here on a weekend around 8:30 and it was not super busy but bartenders seemed swamped. Waited at the bar for over 25 min and no one even looked at us or said I'll be with you soon! Nothing! Ended up leaving without ever being able to even order drinks!! Terrible service! My friend and I are visiting our friend that moved down to St.Pete and it was our last night here so we decided to get a drink at this place and we showed up at 11pm and when we walked in the bartender already seemed upset and I work in the industry so i get it but take out your anger out back or at home. My friend walked up and we were talking about what drink we wanted to get and the bartender heard us saying something about getting a cocktail and he goes "yep nothing i'd love more" with attitude and then checked his watch. My friend felt awkward after that so he ended up just getting a high noon. My other friend and i decided to still get what we wanted cause it's our last night in FL and so she got a mango margarita and i got the cucumber on over. When the mango marg was ordered he looked over to his service station, sighed, and went "yep" with yet again more attitude. We almost turned around and left twice because we were so uncomfortable and thought the drinks were gonna be made incorrectly because of the apparent anger he had towards us walking in an hour before close. THEN at the end we were checking out and my friend complained (to me) that 2 drinks were $37 but i was like well they were $14 on the menu so wtf? and she ended up looking at our receipt and we realized he added 20% gratuity which is fine, again i work in the industry and i understand it but he never told us about it so we gave him cash tip on top of that and he never once told us about the added gratuity. insane. he didn't even deserve a tip never mind a 40% tip. (btw the high noon was paid for separately so the tab we're talking about was for the two cocktails). on the receipt it says the name is john paul so idk if that's like a random name or his actual name but it was the brunette man bartender that worked tuesday 3/24 closing shift. read more
