Tiki drinks, pool tables, and sushi?! This place has everything I'm obsessed with in one establishment, but the service we received was soooo slow. We were barely checked up on, and we saw our sushi sitting on the sushi counter for a while waiting for our server to bring it to us. I would usually chalk it up to it being busy, but there were maybe 4 tables of other people enjoying dinner so it's definitely not that. We ordered the Shortboard (9 rolls where you choose ANY 3 and then the chef chooses the 6 other ones). The sushi itself was really good! We ordered the Cori, Red Dragon, and Papa Sali. The other rolls the chef chose were an eel roll, volcano roll, California roll, yellowtail roll, spicy tuna roll, and downtown st Pete roll. All the chef chosen rolls were great but we were a little disappointed that they chose to give us a California roll and volcano roll which are somewhat the same thing. The Cori was our fav with a slice of filet! It's free to play pool here which was nice after dinner! But our dinner took 2 hours because the server was not attentive at all unfortunately :( we had to get other servers to get her attention. I've been a regular at Lure for years and have always loved coming here, especially for the Tuesday sushi special, which I would come for 2-3 times a month. I was really disappointed to see that it was discontinued without any notice and replaced with a taco special. I understand that restaurants change their specials, but replacing a sushi special at a sushi restaurant with tacos feels like a strange direction. If I wanted tacos, I'd go to a Mexican restaurant. It is topped with eel sauce and spicy mayo. This was a happy hour item. It was good! I also ordered The Onolicious, which is birria style cooked beef and chihuahua cheese in a fresh egg roll. It is served with a chipotle aioli. This was $12. I ordered That's Amore Roll, which is spicy tuna (I swapped for regular tuna), cream cheese, cucumber, topped with eel and avocado and drizzled with spicy mayo and eel sauce. This was $16. This was excellent! I also ordered The Hunter Roll, which is shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber. We started with two appetizers and then ordered some rolls to share afterwards. The Onolicious Plate was a birria style beef served in egg rolls with a chipotle dipping sauce. It was good and probably would order something else if I came back. The Ike was a bacon wrapped jalapeño shrimp served over rice and beans. We were all fighting over this dish it was delicious. I recommend ordering two if with a larger group. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll, spicy yellowtail roll, red dragon roll, and some tuna nigiri to share. The rolls are big and filling. We were full and just able to eat all of ours. The fish is fresh and well worth the price. The only downside of the Lure was the two individual bathrooms in the back of the restaurant. The food was really good...this is the first place I've been where I could really enjoy both a burger and sushi, which are two of my favorites! The burger was well-seasoned and cooked just right, and the tater tots were crispy and amazing. The sushi tasted fresh and was a great complement to the meal. Service was good and attentive. I just stopped in for a quick lunch but there's a nice-sized bar and pool tables, and it looks like a fun spot for adults hang out and vibe. What a fun and fantastic place. On a recent trip to St Pete we wandered around for awhile before deciding to give "The Lure" a shot. Boy were we happy with the choice. It's essentially a Bar / Restaurant but unlike many bar / restaurants, the food is fantastic ! We had the nachos with carnitas, the bire stuffed Onoculous egg rolls, the tinga chicken tacos. We were looking for a good local sushi place and this one was highly recommended. They even had a large sushi roll menu to choose from (the entire back side of the large printed menu was specialty sushi rolls). But overall, the sushi was just average. Not to say the sushi tasted bad, but it wasn't anything special. We have had some grocery store sushi that has compared to the rainbow roll. When the rolls first came out, I was surprised to see how small they were. I have paid for $15-$17 sushi rolls before, and they have always been a bigger size with more quality fish added to them. These rolls were much smaller than I would have hoped, and the rainbow roll was topped with extremely thin pieces of fish. This surprised me especially because the price tag was $18.50 each. I would have thought we earned a little more fillings in our roll. And again, the flavor was nothing special so this meal ended up being a very expensive yet average small meal. Looking beyond the food, the inside of the restaurant very clean and welcoming with an upscale interior. Service was decent, and we got our food pretty quick with no problems. We most likely won't come back here as I am sure there are MUCH better sushi restaurant options in the area at a MUCH more affordable price. read more
