Came here for the first time and picked up takeout. Let's start with the rice house rice is brown not white never had that before. Egg foo yong good but the gravy is the consistency of soy sauce and taste a bit like it as well so not gravy. Before my Husband passed we visited often. We are "bar people" The food is very good! The drawback I see, now dining alone at the bar, the staff has very little interaction with customers. The bartender put down my drink, I said thank you and she walked away with no comment. Even when I try to engage in conversation, I get one word answer and walks away. No smiles and no English. I don't understand all the 4 and 5-star reviews unless they're for Chinese dishes, which might be better than the sushi. I moved back to Plymouth after six years away and have been searching in vain for a good sushi place without driving to Wareham. Sushi Joy and New Tokyo aren't especially good sushi places, IMHO. So after three take out orders I can say as much as I really wanted it to be one, neither is Red Tea Garden. Maki rolls are mostly spicy so options are few for us but between the non-spicy choices and the sushi entrees there was a good selection in each order. And each order over the past 6 weeks got more tired looking than the last one. Yesterday's order of sushi had fish that was brown around the edges on four pieces out of ten. I think it reached the expiration date 3 or 4 days ago. There's no sushi Chirashi on the menu so twice we've ordered the Sushi Deluxe - 10 pieces of fish on unseasoned rice and a California Roll on the side that's mostly cucumber. Three maki rolls had some spicy pink sauce dribbled on them, so that involved paper toweling the unexpected sauce off the cucumber-filled rolls. On the Chinese side of the menu, the lo mein is really dry, unusually so. I like a non-drippy lo mein as much as the next person but these seemed like they might be leftover noodles pulled out of the walk-in and recycled for another day. The chicken wings appetizer was good-not great but good. Very simple, chicken wings and 5-spice seasoning, deep fried and crunchy. Three times wasn't the charm but that's my limit to test out a kitchen so - the great Plymouth sushi search goes on! read more

I think we have a new favorite Chinese restaurant. Due to COVID they are take-out only right now. When we arrived home with the food our dining companions quickly determined "this is better than Sushi Joy" and noted that the price point was substantially lower. We were very happy with the pork fried rice, the Singapore noodles, the egg rolls, and the pork strips. We had a few Thai dishes as well for those who had a hankering for those flavors and weren't in the mood for more standard Boston/New England Chinese-inspired dishes. Candidly, the Thai dishes were just OK. But we weren't ordering from a restaurant specializing in Thai food, so there's nothing to complain about there--they were certainly competitive with what ones gets at other non-Thai restaurants in the area and at a more competitive price than the leading provider in West Plymouth. read more

Get the take out. They give good portions inside and the staff is very nice. The takeout is great! Call ahead and give them time. You won't be disappointed. Remember it's Asian takeout. Last year this was a 3 star, today it is 2 and secured my decision not to return. They were open on January 1, 4 of us had dinner around 5:30. Other than ourselves, there were only 2 other tables occupied on the restaurant side. The Lounge side appeared half full. SERVICE: Almost comical it was so awful. We were not even seated at our booth when the server asked us what we wanted to drink. We let her know we needed to take our coats off and sit down before we would be ready to order. Her manner was distracted, little eye contact and more than once requests for refills were forgotten. We ordered water for the table and got one glass and had to ask again for waters for everyone. As the food arrived, she would place dishes on the table such that her sleeve was dangerously close to touching my existing food dish, reaching over rather than attempting to scoot dishes. At one point there was not a lot of room for additional entrees coming, and it was our problem to make room on the table, she would just sort of leave them on the edge rather than asking if there were dishes which could be taken away. The additional waters were delivered not on a tray, but one was actually in the crook of her arm while she held the other 2 in her hands. When I requested another wine, she brought out the nip style bottle, cracked it open and poured it right there. So not classy. At this point I chuckled as I was beginning to understand her style of "service", which was Medieval Manor like. Not exactly matching my own general expectations. At the end of the evening, she brought the check and one of the fortune cookies fell on the floor. You guessed it, she picked it up and chucked it on the table with the others. I have more examples but you get the idea. FOOD: Now, in some cases, I can overlook less than stellar service if the food is amazing. Sadly, the food matched the service. The crab rangoons were luke warm, however the duck sauce was tasty and had a home made quality. The lo mien was ok. The fried rice lacked flavor. The Mongolian beef was chewy and the orange chicken was poor quality meat and a few were tough to eat. The spring rolls were ok. ATMOSPHERE: It felt a little like a cafeteria, as this is where the employees would hang out and sit when they were not needed. That, coupled with the fact it was relatively empty, left little in the way of atmosphere. The lounge/bar side was better. They seem to do a decent take out business, however, the sampling of menu items I have tried, twice, left me disappointed and wondering what folks were ordering that was good. read more

I've given this place soooo many chances, maybe cause they are so close to my house. They consistently get my takeout order wrong (I try and order salmon roe and always end up getting a salmon roll). I just got the salmon lovers dinner, which is supposed to have 6 pieces of sashimi. I only got 4 pieces. The only reason I give this place a 2 star is because the sushi tastes good. The food was terrible, the soup was really salty. The service is slow, the meat was overcooked, the noodles were also really salty.

We sat in the dining room and were the only customers there. The other bar side was full. Server was incredibly rude from the moment we arrived as if we were inconveniencing her by being there. We ordered over $100 worth of food which suspiciously arrived in literally 2 min yet oddly was room temperature and extremely dry. I have had the The LoMein and beef teriyaki before which is why I returned and they were the only good items so disappointed we asked to take the rest home. Server never asked if food was ok and came with flimsy styrofoam containers that were too small and would definitely have leaked all over my car. She again treated us so rudely because we asked for the regular to go boxes. We hardly ate anything so these containers were a joke. Reading the bill she changed $15 for a small child who wanted a side of broccoli. Never again will I go there. I still gave her the tip she did not deserve but after reading the multiple reviews all complaining of rude customer service I wish I didn't. I thought maybe she was having a bad day when in fact this is their regular way of treating paying customers. I will never go there again. read more

The pork fried rice and pork egg foo yung are fantastic (can you tell we like pork?) Their customer service is great too. Have a nice combo restaurant and a bar/lounge area. The lounge is always packed on weekends but you might be able to squeeze a spot in if you arrive early or late. Besides "The Ming" down on the waterfront (not sure what the name is now) i used to eat at Happy Garden in downtown Plymouth. Well i wasn't driving there and with COVID i just wanted to eat at home. I was told about this place so i gave it a try. Service was quick k and friendly. Price was good. Got home and realized they forgot my lo mein which i also was not charged for. We just moved to the area so we are trying everything close. I was surprised by all the great reviews. First shame on me for not checking my receipt before I paid for my takeout. I was wondering why are bill was so high, we had an extra order that we didnt ask for. First the Bad: sesame chicken= way too much breading making it feel like you were eating a soft ball off fat. Taste was unremarkable. General Gau's= taste not remarkable and not remotely spicey ( I did not ask for non spice or to ensure it was spicey) also not much texture. Beware of getting takeout here. This is the second West Plymouth Chinese Restaurant that charged me for an item, didn't give it to me, and was unhelpful when I called to let them know. Everyone makes mistakes but the true customer service is when someone fixes an error. It is too bad because the food is good. I won't be back and if you go I would suggest you check your bag in the restaurant before you leave. I guess I should have done that but when the ChinaPilgrim was open, this never happened in all the years they were open. We order takeout from here occasionally and it is notoriously difficult to call in ahead of time, it seems a little bit unorganized and I would recommend just going there. The menu is pretty extensive as they offer sushi, Thai food, and Chinese food. A select few healthy options as well. To the left of the restaurant, when you first walk in there is traditional restaurant seating. To the left, is the bar. My sister and I usually order takeout and while we're waiting we enjoy a drink at the bar. It usually comes out pretty quickly. Prices are affordable and there is parking in the front lot. The food and drinks are amazing, the unfortunate trade off is the rude and inconsiderate staff. I was ordering takeout on the phone and was yelled at by the employee for accidentally repeating my order. Then when i went to pick it up I asked for extra hot mustard I was shooed away, ended up not getting any. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by a restaurant. I called in a takeout order at around 9:45. And the man who answered was extremely rude and rushing me to place my order. Said it would be ready in 10 minutes however the website said the restaurant closed at 11 (multiple websites say this) and so I was in no rush to pickup my food. Driving there I get a call at 10:20 from the same man aggressively yelling at me. Asking where I am and how come I'm not there and that the restaurant closes at 10:30 and his employees need to go home. I apologized and said I didn't realize this but he continued to shout at me because my order was ready in 10 minutes but I wasn't there in 10 minutes to pick it up. I was honestly afraid to pick up my food because of how aggressive he was being. I told him to cancel the order and he said get here soon we close at 10:30. Knowing that the employees were waiting I went to go pickup the food anyways (arrived at 10:33). I never do this but I really recommend you do not support this restaurant. Always been good drinks and food. sitting at the bar great service, sitting at the tables not so much.. waited 20 mins for a waitress to appear. food as normal were good and so were the drinks, however we noticed a few things. last time we were in they reused our glasses.. this time they tried the same thing only this time they removed our straws with their hands until my wife "said excuse me but we want fresh glasses and straws!" also as we walked in, we saw that someone had been ill near the entrance ( less than 5 feet). kinda a turn off but more importantly we saw the bartender go out twice to have a smoke and never did anything about it. might not have been her job but i'm sure she could have passed it on to the manager... this place is not the same as before the pandemic.. read more

This restaurant has been a number one favorite in the past but today the food and service was so bad that it is now on the bottom of the list! It has truly gone down hill! How unfortunate, my friend and I couldn't wait to enjoy a meal here today. The waitress obviously didn't want to be there, she was short tempered, rude and uncaring. Took our order and got it wrong. Pork Egg Foo Yong had one piece of pork in it and was burnt! Soup was cold. Egg roll was old and lame. Waitress was snotty when we asked for anything, and when she returned with it, she she just threw it on the table! Never asked us if everything was OK until she brought me my change and saw me putting it in my purse. All in all a horrible experience. I know that times are bad and restaurants are short staffed but there was only 5 people in the dining room. That shouldn't affect the food. Brand new very comfortable and clean restaurant. If only the food were good! Pretty mediocre pan asian food. Thai noodles---flat rice noodles with boiled strips of chicken and a few crushed peanuts sprinkled on top served with an enormous bowl of duck sauce. Ok fish sushi. Vegetarian sushi with way too much wasabi. No vegetarian appetizers on combination plates and no substitutions for vegetarians. The wait staff are kind of rude and pushy. They charge for thin bar soda refills. The staff is Chinese so the Chinese food might be the thing to get here and might actually be ok. If you're tempted to go, that would be my recommendation. read more
