Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten! Chicken fried rice had very dry chicken with under cooked rice. Chicken with pea pods had more vegetables than chicken and tasted like nothing but ginger. Pork egg rolls were nothing but bulky cabbage, no meat, and no flavor. Crab rangoon tasted spoiled. Pork egg foo young also mushy cabbage, no meat, burnt and no flavor!! Don't even think you'll get your money back, they can't understand English language, and for some reason they think their food is good. I didn't even want to rate this place at (1) be ause they are horrible and should be shut down!! read more

Good Chinese-American food. I like that it's a family run business in a repurposed old I-Hop. I like that she has her kid there at work rolling through the restaurant in roller skates. I like that they serve pressed duck, and that they have the big greasy egg rolls I sometimes have a taste for. Good egg foo yung. I've always liked what I get here. I do like that they aren't fluent in American English. Portions are generous, prices are good. And whether you're here or another Chinese-American restaurant, never eat at the buffet, that's neither smart nor safe. read more

It was Valentine's Day. I was working all day and into the evening, as was my Valentine. Chinese food is one of his favorite cuisines so I thought getting some delivery might be a nice ending to a busy Valentine's Day. Tsing Tao offers delivery and while I was a bit apprehensive given their star rating--decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did! I ordered crab rangoon, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein. The serving sizes were incredibly ample (6 huge crab rangoon and two cartons packed full to bursting of chow mein and fried rice). Everything was tasty. The crab rangoon had ample filling (possibly slightly more cream cheese than crab) and came with the usual sweet dipping sauce. The chow mein was incredibly flavorful and they packed the crunchy noodles separately so they stayed crunchy! The fried rice was tasty and they provided soy sauce and spicy mustard packets, which was appreciated. And, of course, we ended with a fortune cookie. Mine said: Let reality be reality. A fortune? Not sure. But, solid advice none-the-less. Get to it! read more

I stopped here for lunch today because I was craving Chinese food and I wanted to try a new place. This is take out or delivery only because the dining rooms are closed. The place looks like your typical Chinese restaurant and it's decorated with an Asian theme. The menu has all the typical items but I like to get a lunch special for the fried rice so I ordered the pepper steak lunch special. The lunch specials are limited so I ordered the pepper steak with fried rice which took about 15 and I was off to eat in my car because I can't eat in the restaurant. I was surprised that the lunch special was the main dish and fried rice only when mostly everyone else gives you at least a small spring/egg roll. The lunch special didn't look all that good because the fried rice was just rice with a few scraps of scrambled egg and looked nothing like fried rice. The fried rice was super boring with little flavor that I just threw away because it's not worth eating. The pepper steak was ok and tasty with veggies that had some crisp left in them and the beef was somewhat tender but a little chewy. Overall I thought that the lunch special was less than average compared to the competition around town and I hardly ever throw leftovers away but today I did. read more

Chicken fried rice had no chicken in it and was pretty unflavored. Pork chop suey was super watery and again had absolutely no flavor. Egg rolls were fried in old oil. Disappointing as i was looking forward to trying this place. read more

Mostly Veggies, which isn't a problem. But whole onions and peppers. No chicken or beef in the Mongolian Beef and it didn't taste like Garlic Chicken. It tasted like sour and starch!! I ordered a quart of combo fried rice which was supposed to have shrimp, chicken and pork. The food was awful. The fried rice was extremely dry and hard. There were 3 tiny shrimp in the entire quart and tiny bits of pork and chicken but not enough protein to taste. The Mushoo Pork was all vegetables. I would NEVER eat here again. I spent $27 on carry out and it was a huge wasted. 75% of it went to the trash. Don't eat here if you are hungry and want good value for what you spend. read more

Not sure if it was because I was uber hungry just having completed Ragnar Chicago but when my friend and I were looking for someplace quick to grab take out and then go back to her place and crash - the Yelp gods led us here. You might be thinking "Anne C. this is a standard Chinese food restaurant. There is nothing fancy about Tsing Tao and the food is what you can get at 1000s of other take out restaurants across the US." Yes- that might be true and yes - there is nothing adventurous about their menu but we were in and out of there in 15 minutes, our orders were correct, and the food was hot, well seasoned and just plain good. We were given ample portions of food and although they do not have a brown rice option - I survived. In reality I normally would have given Tsing Tao 3 stars (because the menu was pretty standard) but after consuming my standard chinese take out option - Won Ton Soup - a 4th star had to be added. They asked me on which website I had placed my order. This meant they didn't even know that they had received my order. She told me delivery driver had just left lol. I called a half hour later, and still had not received my food. I finally receive my food two hours after placing my order. I asked the driver (THEY DELIVER THEIR OWN FOOD) what happened, and he said no BUZZERS on my building. Ordered this for dinner through postmates but felt strongly enough about quality that I had to leave review. Our food was delivered missing the rice to all the main dishes bit I want to mention the nice guy who delivered after the fact. The problem is the quality though. $59 for dinner and nothing tasted fresh. The 3 dinners, all digggerent were unmarked and with exception of protein were all served in essentially the same sauce and shouldn't have been. They gave us crab Rangoon that you could tell were made prior and reheated either by re-frying or another method. They were chewy. My husband ordered a dish with pan fried noodles and they brought him essentially a pint of beef chop suey and some homemade crunchy noodles for the top for $15 and some cents, which is not how the described it. We have been looking for good Chinese delivery to Bayview and we may have finally found it. We ordered egg rolls (huge), pot stickers (deep fried), and small orders of General Tso's and the chefs special Dragon & Phoenix. Everything came hot and delivery took about an hour (ordered at 7:30 on a Saturday). The generals breading was crispy with an excellent amount of sauce. The only minor complaint is that it wasn't that spicy but they have an option online to order extra spicy. My wife loved the Dragon and Phoenix. We didn't see an option for steamed dumplings unfortunately and if you order them ask for extra sauce. This is going to be our new Chinese food spot and we are excited to try other things on the menu. If you live in their delivery area, give them a try. read more

Local business, fairly quiet at lunch. I enjoy coming here for their lunch buffet. Food is good, prices are reasonable, service is friendly and attentive. Lunch buffet is ran from 11 - 2. Best to come earlier than later, they do stop putting out food around 1/1:30ish. But very tasty! read more

We ordered from the online ordering app last night. The food is always fresh and hot. The hubby always orders the sweet and sour chicken and it comes with an huge quart of sauce. I had the shrimp ding which is normally spicy but was tame this time. It had tons of huge shrimp and veggies. You get a free item of choice or a price discount. We got the barbecue pork fried rice. They deliver to Bay View which is a plus. The only downfall is it takes a hour. The delivery man is always very friendly. I have now learned to ALWAYS look at the buffet BEFORE you say that you will order it. We stopped in today around 12:30pm because I really wanted some Chinese food. I thought we would get the buffet because of the variety, etc. well we should have ordered off the menu. What little the buffet did still have available was overcooked and not that flavorful. I understand that it is a Monday after the lunch rush but this was ridiculous. The only thing that was brought out fresh were pork egg rolls which were not that great. Over half the buffet trays were almost empty. We ordered out from them two years ago and it wasn't that bad but this experience was just horrible. I don't have high expectations from a Chinese buffet but this was really NOT good. I just had the worst chinese food in the history of chinese. This was the second time I ordered fro them. First time it was good. Last night it was terrible, no taste, no meat, just bland. I'll say that my ordering experience was positive; everything was accurate and a special request was fulfilled. And they even called to verify. The delivery was quick and the driver was polite. Now, the negatives: 1- The garlic chicken was a miss for me; I did not enjoy it. It was overall disappointing. 2- The fried wonton was the 3/4 crunchy breading and a very small amount of meat. 3- It would be nice to have descriptions on their website which stated exactly what was in each dish. I have to say this restaraunt is my new favorite for Asian cuisine! I used to drive all the way over to Brady Street to Emperor of China, but Tsing Tao has definitely outdone them in my book!! Everything we ordered was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The first time we ordered we were pleasantly surprised with not only the amout of food we got, but everything tasted amazing as well. Placed an on line order to be delivered. Delivery time was 45-65 minutes. It was close...70 minutes or so. I ordered chicken fried rice for next day lunch, chicken Hong sue and pot stickers. It came with dipping sauce, soy sauce and fortune cookies. Unfortunately the food was cold. I heated the food in the microwave but it wasn't very good. Fast forward to lunch - chicken fried rice in the microwave. It was flavorless and greasy. For dinner I heated the chicken Hong sue. It wasn't very good. Maybe I'm the exception based on some of the past reviews, but as a Chinese person who lives in the area Tsing Tao did not disappoint. I didn't venture into a lot of dishes, but the Orange Chicken while a little bready was piping hot and tasty reminiscent of mall orange chicken I used to eat as a kid in the Midwest. First time ordering from here tonight. I opted for delivery and they were on time from which the online ordering stated. Friendly delivery driver too. I ordered a quart of beef peppersteak and some pan fried noodles. I had made special requests for no peppers (I'm allergic) and no onions (just in case they did add them, I wasn't sure) and my order was 100% accurate and delicious. They didn't skimp on the beef and it was super tender. It is really hard to find places that carry a side of pan fried noodles so that was a huge plus. Usually, I have to order chow mei fun in addition to my entree at other restaurants in order to get my noodles. I spent over $10 and received a free egg drop soup, how awesome! I had the option of that or an egg roll. Who doesn't love free stuff! Plus, there was a free 2017 wall scroll calendar in my delivery bag! Thanks so much, that was a nice surprise!
