So after much debating my mom decided to get her Mink fixed by Tsontos Furs. Of course I came with her to a fitting and started eyeballing some coats. Who doesn't love a beautiful fur coat?! I mean c'mon. Their soft, luxurious and warm. So I wound up buying a grey short Rex Rabbit coat. Yes Rex Rabbit is a thing. Google it. I absolutely love it and have already gotten a plethora of compliments on it. Bill and his staff certainly know their coats and Bill did a beautiful job revamping my mom's Mink. So will I be back? Had my mother's old long fur coat made into a current jacket. It was a bit expensive but recycling the old fur and using it seemed more ethical then just throwing it out. Additionally the new fur is so stylish, my daughter has already claimed it and this new jacket will have a long life ahead. My mothers initials from the original coat are inside and mine as well. The entire process was smooth and the folks at this establishment are delightful and professional. I am very glad I read the Yelp reviews and had this coat changed into a jacket while my mother is still alive. When I was about 16 my mother bought me a leather coat. So when my daughter turned 16 I wanted to get her a leather coat. We went to Tsontos furs because our family has had a long relationship with Bill Green, owner. He showed us options and then my daughter gave her opinion. We realized she had specific requests. She then collected photos, gave her comments and designed her own black leather moto jacket. She is now 21 (still wears her moto jacket), but now graduating from college. We have returned to get her a new coat for this landmark occasion but there might be fur on this one! My younger daughter turns 16 in a few months. I purchased a poorly made B-3 bomber style leather shearling on Amazon, and when it arrived I saw how low quality the jacket was, and decided I should visit an expert. Having lived in Mineola all my life, Tsontos Furs was first in mind for advice. I had never purchased a fur coat before, and was a little hesitant, but owner Bill Greene and his team at Tsontos Furs made me feel so comfortable and confidant throughout the entire process. Bill didn't have the bomber style shearling I had in mind in-stock, but gladly ordered the jacket from his supplier for me to try on, touch and see with my own eyes. He also showed me a collection of swatches for me to choose which color fur I would prefer. Upon immediately falling in love with the jacket, Bill took my measurements, and we planned the alterations for a custom-made B-3 bomber style leather shearling. Very glad I decided to visit Tsontos Furs considering, I have never owned a fur before, let alone a custom-made jacket entirely fitted to me. Bill also added for me a larger fur lapel to the jacket, as this was a desire of mine, and he was happy to oblige. I had my grandmothers mink coat remodeled into a small jacket and vest. They both came out beautiful. They even sewed my grandmothers name from the original jacket into a pocket in my new jacket, which was a really great personal touch. The owner was also so helpful and knowledgeable. OK, I am a bad "fur-mommy". When I moved to Silicon Valley 25 years ago, I threw my fur coats into a garment bag, stuck them in the back of my closet and forgot all about them. When the circumstances of life brought me back to New York, 25 years later, I unzipped that bag expecting to see bald cots and a bag full of loose fur. WOW - they were just sitting there.
