Dumpling and scallops from deep fried menu

I've been wanting to try Tsukiji since they opened. I heard great reviews from friends and family, and finally I got the chance to try! The wait was about 40 minutes, however, you are able to "check in" online, we looked them up on google and it asks if you want check in, this puts your name on the list and then you get text messages about your spot! You can also check the link that is sent with the first text message to see where your spot is. Beautiful cherry blossom decorations All around and a unique ceiling embellishments. Made it a unique look. Service was awesome, and food came out fast, especially considering the place was pretty full. Our server was Clayton and he did a great job explaining how the restaurant works and answered our questions about the food items. He was also just attentive enough, that we didn't feel like we were waiting too long to ask for something else and also didn't feel like he was hovering. We came on a Saturday afternoon at a weird time. We were seated around 1:50pm. We knew they closed for lunch from 3pm-4:30pm, but we figured that they wouldn't "kick us out", however we were wrong. Haha. They do close to folks at 3pm. So Last call for dishes is around 2:30pm, and while we made our way out around 3pm, I don't know if they actually kicked anyone out. But beware that if you want your full 2 hour time limit here, don't go after 1pm. Now for the food- we tried so many things! My absolute favorite though was the Beef short Ribs. The sauce is so delicious!! Like a sweet sesame sauce. We had a few different rolls- Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, and a couple others. Dragon roll does have a sriracha kick to it. vegetable tempura, comes with pieces of broccoli, mushroom, bell pepper, sweet potato and taro. Taro was super bland. Next time i'd just order a broccoli or sweet potato tempura and skip the mixture. Shrimp tempura had lovely flavorful coating. Beef udon was delicious and I loved the flavor and noodles. I think I'd like to try the soup next time. One of the things we tried last second that was not what I expected was the fried scallops. They tasted fine, I just wasn't impressed by them and their little dollop of mayo. Overall, we enjoyed the concept of trying new dishes, next time I'll probably try some more hibachi meats, and some nigiri and maki rolls as opposed to the sushi rolls. Oh and get the ice cream to go!! Oh and keep in mind they will charge you for excess food waste, though we didn't ask what exactly that meant. Our meal was right around $90 for two, a soda and tax. Honestly, we felt that was reasonable.

Make a reservation otherwise you will be waiting for at least an hour to get seated! I tried twice to walk in. Didn't know what to expect because it's an "all-you-can-eat" restaurant. Once in, the server guided us through the menu and explained the "turns". 1st round you order and order comes. 2nd round you order more and then a 3rd round. By the third you are full and order much less. Ice cream is served in those cute plastic cups with a wooden spoon. Raspberry, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavors and very refreshing after all that food. Sashimi, sushi and rolls are limited to 5 per person, per round because they don't want any food wasted. It's definitely worth it. I didn't pay so I don't know how much it cost, but I believe someone previously posted it was $35 per person. That's a great price since you tend to pay over $100 for two anywhere else. I ordered sashimi, nigiri, a roll and teriyaki salmon. The rest of the family had fried rice, asparagus, shrimp and clam tempura along with their rolls and sushi. Everything was delicious and our server was attentive, experienced and explained every section of the menu. For reference, we were a party of 11 on a Sunday for lunch. Reservations at 11 am. It got packed so fast. By 12 there were no open tables. Loved this place and plan to go back often. This was the old California Pizza Kitchen next to Lazy Dog.

The sushi rolls was nasty and hella big

Came here hungry. Left so full! I like that this place is a AYCE sushi spot and the fact u can be seated and not even have to get up cus they will serve you is great. The decor was nice with the ceiling having the fake cherry blossoms. Coming in, the wait time wasn't too bad. We got seated at a booth. The service was excellent. Our server did good with taking our orders. It was my first time there. Literally while he was taking the orders, some of the food was already coming out. That's cus the tablet they use, it already sends them a notice in the kitchen once he taps on his tablet. So service was fast and quick. It was pretty busy in there for a Tuesday night. We ordered a couple of things. Most of the food we ordered comes in a single order, not pairs. Like the sashimi, nigiri or hand rolls.. we stayed away from what would make us full and tried to eat our moneys worth since it was like $35 a person for dinner.. don't quote me on that but I think that was the price. I didn't do any rice bowls or udon or ramen bowls. You'll see in the pics what we ordered. I thought the food was okay. Some stuff we ordered I did not like. And the spider roll was deceiving cus it said it came with crab meat and "soft crab" so one would think soft shell crab cus what's soft crab if it already came with crab meat which we knew to be imitation.. it only came with imitation so we told them the problem and they said they wouldn't charge us the fee for not finishing the food.. the sushi rolls are way too big with hella rice and don't taste good. The scallops are fake like imitation scallops.. the shrimp tempura was good but first bite was nothing but the breading.. the sashimi was good. We had tuna, escolar, salmon and yellow tail. The unagi was decent.. miso soup came out luke warm.. big disappointment. Also wish they had more sauce options. They only have siracha, eel sauce, teriyaki, spicy mayo and tempura sauce. Oh and sweet n spicy sauce for the cream cheese wonton things which I did not try. They do have soy sauce, ginger and wasabi as well. The hibachi steak was probably one of my favorite bites there and also the short ribs. The mayo fire torched nigiri was gross. It had no taste and the torch taste on there tasted like it was torched with a Bic lighter. At the end when he asked if we wanted ice cream, we all opted for strawberry. Opened one to try and that mf was soft serve like literally soft fuckin serve as in it was already melting and not frozen! We asked for him to take the other two back cus we didn't even finish the one we opened. I don't think I will be returning but if I ever, ever do it'll just be for the hibachi steak, short ribs and sashimi..

Tsukiji is one of few spots in Fresno where you can get AYCE sushi. They have an extensive menu with plenty of options for nigiri, maki rolls, fried noodles, soup, hibachi meats, fried rice, and other fried foods. Personally, I think you get the most bang for your buck ordering the nigiri and maki rolls. You can order up to 5 nigiri per person per round, so we definitely stock up on that. I also enjoy their rainbow roll. Obviously the complexity of the rolls is not the same as you would get at a made-to-order sushi spot, but still solid. I went here when they first opened up and the service was not great. We were not attended to often, and some of our orders would be forgotten. However, I've gone back about 3 times now, and they must have done something to change that. The waitstaff is nice and attentive, and everything comes out relatively quickly. The shop itself has lots of Japanese-inspired decor, which adds to the vibe. I'd definitely recommend coming during lunch--I'm not sure how busy their dinner hour is.

I have gone here two times for the weekend (it's Dinner menu) with my parents and enjoyed it. My parents come during weekdays for lunch and rave about it all the time. The fish is great, especially the sashimi, as I really hate sushi rice at most AYCE due to inconsistent flavors (IYKYK). The menu has a huge selection from teppanyaki to tempura. You pretty much have a Japanese buffet delivered to your table. Service is 100! Friendly staff that ensures your table is cleared off from empty plates and ready to start the order process.

Tsukiji offers excellent all-you-can-eat Japanese food. The four stars are for the fantastic value and the quality of their main dishes--the sushi, rolls, and hibachi steak are consistently delicious and fresh. I deduct one star because the wait times can be significant, and some appetizers are clearly just filler. Parking can be a problem at times.

My top choice for all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi in Fresno. This city has limited AYCE choices, but I think Tsukiji is on the right track. I have dined here multiple times, and it has mainly been consistent. From the service, drinks, and food we have always been content. The menu features a mix of appetizers, maki, sashimi, nigiri, and much more. They have several various items and options to choose from, especially if you are not a fan of sushi. What sets this restaurant apart from others is the availability of sashimi! Having that choice by itself is fantastic for sushi enthusiasts. Please remember that sashimi is available only during dinner, not at lunchtime. I've sampled the hibachi and appetizers, and they all taste quite nice. Tsukiji tends to be quite crowded at dinner, so anticipate longer wait times, particularly on weekends. Surely worth attempting. Remember, that this is good for Fresno and cannot be compared to other AYCE restaurants in California.

Wow. Just wow! Waiting for the newness to settle, but that was a bad call- don't wait if you haven't tried them. Okay let's get some newbie disclaimers out of the way: (since I made the mistakes for you, lol) 1. Join the waitlist- be ready for 2+ hr wait. - not a big deal, but don't walk in thinking 20-25 min. Give yourself time. Our wait was 2hr20min and we were 63 rd in line. We did the online waitlist and some shopping until we were 10 th in line. - catching some shade for this but this is not a big party place. Go to teppan for that. Think 4 ppl party, this will ensure you fit at a table and don't get bumped trying to clear 4-5 tables for your party. Just don't do it imo. - also, the shade is here: as a mom ( I'd totally only take kiddos 9 and above who can eat their weight or fully appreciate the raw fish side. This will make end of table space easier from high chairs etc. Nice night out, get a sitter. 2. Walk the shopping center while you wait. So many neat stores- surprised at how many folks huddled outside in the cold (albeit lazy dog had great music on you could hear) - B&N is right there in the least. 3. Go hungry. Saying less here. 4. Service batting 1000%. Couldn't have been better. In fact- let's train everywhere else the hospitality and ethic of these folks ( front hostesses were nice but their dealing with the goons of walkins didn't quite match what the servers dedicate to you). 5. PEPSI PRODUCTS. They're a . 6. Recommendations: *escolar, octopus, clam, tuna ( fired and every way they have it) * hand rolls- tried a few they were all fantastic * hibachi and teriyaki: shrimp, steak, beef, short ribs, chicken! * cheese won tons but caution the cream cheese is temp hot inside! 7. Bathrooms are busy and (both were wet floored) they try to upkeep but humans need to do better too. 8. Yes you get a cup of dairy full ice cream. Nice touch! Can't wait to try lunch. They have two services lunch and dinner, we went for dinner. Ate so quick as things arrived forgot to take more food pictures!

I finally got to try Tsukiji!! To think that we were about to go to Red Robin! There is so much to choose from in this shopping center, which is across from River park. You MUST pick Tsukiji at least once and I'm sure you'll keep coming back. We came in early before dinner started. It was kind of awkward at first because no one said anything to us but we just sat in the waiting area until dinner began. Which is at 5 or 6 I think. The staff blasted the coolers and dinner was set to begin. We were seated and met our waitress right away. We had never been there but without skipping a beat she explained everything to us. The way it works is you have access to the entire manure for a flat price. They bring you out small portions of all you ask for. This gives you the ability to try everything. We really loved it and were so impressed by how the staff worked together to make our meal magical. Food was fresh and got to the table fast! I do have to say, I am a big fan of cream cheese Rangoons and the ones here are way too bready or doughy. That's my only gripe. Everything else was so delicious! I can't wait to go back!

Our party of 9 had a dinner reservation, and they were seated fairly promptly. (I was late.) Nika, our server, was spectacular. And the food, of course, was never ending deliciousness. First time visitors for 5 in our party, and they were surprised and delighted with service, menu, portions, and everything they ate and devoured. Definitely have plans to return soon.

Updating my rating to a 4 star. If you're craving sushi and on a budget, this is the place to go! Their service is still exceptional for being an AYCE sushi place. Their cooked to order foods like the hibachi, fried rice and fried udon noodles is delicious and still my preferred food choice when I come. If you're craving a high quality AYCE place with service, this is the place to go!

My girlfriend and I love this place, service is always great the setting is nice and calm, we really love the hibachi, cheese wontons, and crazy roll I do recommend showing up early because the line gets insanely long but it's so worth it you'll leave happy and it won't hurt your pockets!

I am not much of a sushi snob but have a few key indicators of quality; how spicy is the wasabi?, how fresh is the fish? And how are the Nigiri fish portions? This establishment scores low on all three. I was tasked to pick out our rolls after we got a rainbow roll for our granddaughter. Nearly all of their "specialty" rolls had cream cheese or "spicy tuna". First, I am never going to eat cream cheese in a fish roll. Second, chili powder is often used in minced fish to cover up off flavors. I ordered another rainbow roll, an Alaska roll, and a Shadow Bridge roll. We never did receive the 2nd rainbow roll, the salmon on top of the Alaska Roll was small squares with a sesame oil that tasted a tad rancid, and the Shadow Bridge was a HUGE pile of fried onions with a roll underneath so it was heated. Needless to say we ate what we could and just agreed we would try a different place with her next time.

I was immediate greeted by the two Sushi chefs behind the counter as I walked in. Not long after, the host greeted me and handed me a menu for me to select my order to go. I considered a poke bowl, however, their sauces were pretty standard. So instead I opted for their seaweed salad that came with a number of protein including tuna, edamame, shrimp, avocado, and masago. It was $19, so it wasn't necessarily inexpensive, however I figured a poke bowl with a couple proteins would run me right about there as well. The sushi chef got right away to work preparing my meal and I was in and out within 5 minutes. When I got home, I opened up my box and was a little underwhelmed with the presentation. The protein is cut up into small pieces and mixed in with the seaweed salad. In addition it is not pure seaweed as it is also mixed in with a bunch of other greens such as sprouts. So while the presentation was not what I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the flavors and textures. I will definitely order this again.

The…read moreseating at the sushi counter is pointless, they are regular chairs and the top of the counter is at least 5'4". Basically you can't see the items in the cooler nor the chef prepare the food. It seemed like they were cramming a lot of stuff in the entrance, ice cream freezer, a drink cooler, a huge wheel to spin on your birthday. They had no diet soda available either. My customary roll is the caterpillar roll, which is cooked eel, cucumber, avocado and some crab. So, I had to order the upgraded version to include all those pieces, where other sushi restaurants have them as standard. The reason it's called the caterpillar roll is because is is normally covered in avocado so it looks bright green like a caterpillar. I've had chefs use cucumber to make antennas too. Upon receiving my roll I could not figure out if it even had eel inside it. I had the server take it back and ask a chef. The chef even had to examine the roll to see if there was eel. You'll see in the picture it is mostly crab and there's a minuscule dark section which is the eel. There was a single piece of cucumber (string) in the whole roll, I would randomly find it in one bite of my pieces. You can't see in the picture I pulled it out of the end piece so you can't see the thickness. Lastly, as mentioned the caterpillar is usually bright green, this roll had slivers of avocado on top. VERY disappointed and will never come back.

Huge menu with a lot to choose from - I usually go for the bento boxes. The tempura isn't greasy but it's crunchy. Gyozas are good and fresh. The sushi I've tried has been tasty too. There's another side to the restaurant that I believe is the teppanyaki side. Haven't experienced it yet since I've only come for lunch. I'm wondering if they get a lot of business since it's so barren when I go. Hoping they get enough business because I do enjoy this restaurant!

Once we walked in we noticed it was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon, but nonetheless we weren't bothered or worried. We feel our experience will be all the more better with just us 2 in the restaurant. Either way, we're good, the food will speak for itself. We decided to sit at the sushi bar and glad we did! Great music selection and the sushi chefs were a blast to talk with. Their humor made our lunch even that more enjoyable. We definitely made some friends and looking forward to come back another time.
