    Birthday surprise
    Yaya G.

We decided to celebrate my mom's birthday at this teppanyaki restaurant and made the drive out to Fresno. It was our first time visiting, and overall we had a wonderful experience. One word of advice: if you're planning to join the waitlist, I recommend calling ahead for a more accurate wait time. The website initially showed no one ahead of us, but after joining the waitlist it indicated several parties were waiting. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 45 minutes, which wasn't ideal with a couple of hungry kids. Thankfully, we were seated within about 10 minutes. Our server, Patrick, was fantastic! He provided excellent customer service, took the time to explain the sushi rolls, helped us navigate the kids' menu, and was attentive throughout our meal. Patrick, thank you for helping make my mom's birthday dinner so memorable. Khasey was our chef, and the food was absolutely delicious. He made sure we had every sauce we asked for. The teppanyaki experience for the children was engaging and fun. To top it off, the staff brought out a cute birthday dessert and sang a birthday tune for my mom, which made the celebration even more special. The location is another huge plus. It's situated in a great area near Fresno State with plenty to do before or after dinner, including ice cream shops, boba spots, VR gaming, and movie theaters. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to come back!

Hino Oishi is a solid spot for teppanyaki. I ordered the chicken lunch special, and the food was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The teppanyaki chef was entertaining and did a great job, which made the experience enjoyable. The only downside was the service. It took a long time to get a refill on my drink, and it didn't arrive until I was basically finished eating. Other than that, the food was excellent, and I'd definitely come back for the teppanyaki.

Had a marvelous birthday dinner for my sister here and all of us had a lot of fun! We don't normally go as big as we did but I had a really nice coupon and they were having a dinner special so we also ordered an appetizer and a drink to share. Everything came out of the kitchen and bar promptly and our chef for the evening was a DELIGHT!! There were two special events at our table so they got sparklers as a part of the show which was so fun! Not only did the chef have all the tricks of a fun teppenyaki up his sleeve but the food was immaculate! Moist flavorful rice, crisp veggies and meat done to everyone's preference. I was here one other time where we just got sushi and that was fun too! Overall I very nice experience and good food.

My coworker and I stopped by on a Friday afternoon for lunch, hoping it might not be too busy since Fresno State's summer break had just started. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was already a large crowd waiting, and the estimated wait time for Teppan was over an hour. We decided to leave and head over to Dog House instead. The very next evening, I brought my family in for dinner. Even on a busy Saturday night, we only waited about 35 minutes, which wasn't bad considering how crowded it was. We decided dining room instead of Teppan but were told the wait was the same. We were seated around 9:30 PM, just 30 minutes before closing, but our server, Crystal, never made us feel rushed. Crystal was excellent from start to finish. She did a great job keeping our drinks filled and checking on us throughout the meal and even chatted with us for a few minutes. The food came out quickly, and everything was prepared perfectly. My kids all enjoyed their meals, and there was more than enough food for everyone. As always, the bacon fried rice and their spicy sauce hit it off. Their spicy sauce is my favorite in town, it has a great kick and a unique flavor that sets it apart from other teppanyaki restaurants. Overall, it was another great experience. The customer service was outstanding, the food was high quality, and everything was full of flavor. I'll definitely be back again. Thank you, Crystal!!

We waited about 40 minutes. It was a weekend plus the restaurant seemed popular according to Yelp, so the wait was understandable. After waiting, we were seated in a nice spot, which I appreciated. However, the first thing I noticed was that there were no napkins on the table, which was a bit disappointing. The drinks were another downside. They weren't very tasty, and the glasses were filled almost entirely with ice. I usually don't do this, but I tried to remove some of the ice because it felt like we were getting more watered-down drinks than actual cocktails. That said, the food completely made up for it. It was amazing. We had chicken katsu, pan-fried vegetables which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. We also tried a ceviche-style salad, which I had never had before, and it was surprisingly delicious! Overall, the food alone makes this place worth visiting. I'd just recommend asking for less ice in the drinks, though I'm not sure how much that will help.

Yellowtail W/ Scallion, Golden Philly Roll, Spicy Garlic Edamame
    Priscilla M.

I came into their business to enjoy some light bites and drinks during a busy happy hour. The quality and fish-to-rice ratio of the yellowtail w/ scallion roll was perfect! We also enjoyed the golden Philly & spicy edamame--kudos to the chefs for getting everything out with good time. However, I was greatly dissatisfied with the service. I understand the majority of staff may be college students, but that is no excuse for lack of professionalism. Our server made an inappropriate comment, forgot two items that I requested when we placed our order, and did not come by to check until we were after done eating. As we were about to check out, I noticed we were wrongly charged for an item. We kindly asked her to remove it and go ahead and charge our card. A new itemized receipt was never returned, however I noticed later (on the Lin's app) we were charged a higher price than originally. I have enjoyed all of Lin's restaurants and was looking forward to returning for a hibachi experience. Unfortunately I do not think I can overlook this poor experience.

My family, companion, and I had plans to grab dinner. My family member suggested we try Hino Oishi. My grandma had never been, so she was hesitant at first, but I worked to convince her. Glad we were able to dine here! We came on a weekday in the early evening. We sat outside since we brought my pup. Outside seating is pretty casual with a nice covered area. There are several tables for diners. Inside is extremely spacious, with the restaurant sectioned off for the teppanyaki area and the bar and dine-in area. Service by all of the wait staff was great. However, food took a while to come out and was extremely staggered. We were initially provided the teppanyaki menus, but also received their regular dine-in menus. My Grandma and I both got rolls, mine being the Arctic Roll and hers the Caterpillar Roll. My companion and my other family member got the Bai Bento Box. I felt the rolls were just okay for the price and quality. Maybe I have higher expectations, but I felt like they were a bit messy, and flavor and freshness didn't hit. The bento boxes were a great deal, and I enjoyed nibbling on theirs! The portions were huge! Overall, I'm always happy to expand my Grandma's awareness of other restaurants. Hino Oishi was good to bring our pup and fill us up. Quality and good service were okay. Find them at Campus Pointe, with plenty of free parking nearby!

This place gets really packed on the weekends so I'd suggest making reservations. I opted for pick up and there was still a line just to get my food. The hostesses was kind and got my order promptly. I ordered the steak and chicken teppanyaki and a kids chicken katsu. My order came with soup and my sons came with a salad. The portions were huge. It was so much I shared with my hubby. The steak and chicken were cooked perfectly. You can never go wrong with bacon fried rice and theirs is yummy. I was surprised my soup was still hot when I got home. My son said his food was yummy. The portion was really big too. I couldn't believe it was a kids size lol. The fries were big crispy and I think battered with something. My boys liked the coating a lot. I've also been here for happy hour. They serve some delicious drinks and appetizers.

Well, where to begin on this cold rainy day. Walking in the door.....should have called and made a reservation! The girl at the desk was kind and had a smile, but she was slammed. The entire entry room was wall to wall people! Kindly she took my name and said it was a 45 minute wait! I was 30 minutes early, that was fine. We were meeting my daughter for her birthday. Let me tell you the wait was worth it! We chose Teppenaki. Once we had all arrived we were swatted at one of the cook tables. Our server greeting us was Patrick! He was charming and explained the program clearly! Every cook table was full in both rooms. Very cozy and they made us feel welcomed as we looked over the extensive menu. We all decided on the lunch special, chicken, shrimp, and steak, veggies, rice, bacon and eggs. $19.99. Our drinks arrive and then the show begins. Meanwhile, you can smell bacon and eggs cooking throughout the room, then veggies, and meats of all kinds. You get more hungry. They serve Miso soup, warm deliciousness in a bowl! Then our cook master arrives, Kassey, he gets right to work setting up for the main performance! Preparing the spicy sauce/teryaki sauce mixture, then the fire show, the bacon and eggs, twirling of the knives, adding of the rice, and soy sauce the butter, smells so good! The fried rice is placed on your plate. The chef strays grilling the veggies right away adding butter and spices, slicing and dicing all the time, then placing them neatly alongside the rice on your plate. (I like to wait til I have all my food). Immediately placing the protein on the grill. Chicken, shrimp and steak! Smells are intoxicating! Finally our plates are full! We can eat and enjoy! Since it was my daughter's birthday they rollout the drum corp and deliver a fruit boat with a candle and the drums roar! Amazing! It was a wonderful lunch! We will go back again I am sure ! What a fantastic lunch we had.

Well, we went for my 65 th birthday and decide to do teppan lunch this time .The chef was very entertaining and thought it was the best show at the table .The dishes we order was Teppanyaki Steak and Teppanyaki Korean beef , Teppanyaki shrimp with vegetables plus fried bacon rice.Everything was good till they forgot about my 65 th birthday celebration which was a bummer.Just a take out of mochi ice cream. since they forgot ???

4- Hino Oishi is a solid go-to for teppanyaki in Fresno, especially if you're already hanging out at Campus Pointe. The vibe is always loud and fun, and the chefs usually put on a good show that doesn't feel too scripted. You have to get the fried rice--they put bacon in it (but I went without b/c I don't eat pork) which sounds simple but honestly makes the whole meal. The filet and shrimp are consistently good and never skimpy on the garlic butter, which is basically all you can ask for from a hibachi spot. One suggestion: I don't like all the seasoning they dump. The only real downside is that it's gotten pretty expensive lately, so it's definitely more of a "treat yourself" spot. Sunday is dinner price and their special is $35. If you add scallops, that is $50 for a lunch. If you tip the chef ($5) and the waitress (18%), it is definitely a lot of money to spend one a lunch meal.

    Chile Matcha Rita
    Helen T.

Been awhile since I been here and decided to come here with the bestie on Saturday night and we hung out at the bar. Bartender is so cool and gave good insights on the drinks and ultimately decided on the Chile matcha Rita which was perfect. Not overly sweet like most places. If you like the real matcha then this is the drink for you! We later decided to dine-in with a 30 min wait for party of 5. We ordered a lot of apps to share among us and they were all delicious and didn't disappoint a tiny bit especially the salmon tower and lettuce wrap with the beef! So yum! Our server Dino was so so attentive, funny, and just made our dining experience fun. He constant topping off our waters so we never had to ask him much of anything. We left super duper happy and full!

Kids chicken katsu! Comes with salad or soup. Katsu was big portion and lightly crispy! Loved the seasoned fries texture too.

Whether you're craving sushi, teriyaki, or ramen, they really have something for everyone. The sushi and sashimi are incredibly fresh -- honestly some of the freshest fish we've had at any sushi restaurant. It tastes like the chef went out and caught it that morning. The 14-piece sashimi platter with a couple of rolls was more than enough for two people, and everything was excellent quality. The ramen is also fantastic, but fair warning: the bowls are HUGE, so definitely come hungry. The moment we walked in and sat down to our table, we did't feel welcomed. Our server was very short with us and seemed annoyed. Initially, they were pushy on having us order assuming we have been there before. It was our first time and we didn't even get a chance to look at the menu yet as we just sat down. Throughout the service, our server never offered us water or came to check up on us. It was an off vibe like they were having a bad day and it resonated to us. The food was a big letdown. We ordered the agedashi tofu, earthquake roll, big boy, fireball roll, and a sashimi appetizer. Each item we ordered had an issue. The agedashi tofu was super bland and the broth didn't pair well with it. I've had this dish several times at other locations and this wasn't up to par. The rolls were drowning in sauce and ruined their texture. The rice was also overcooked and very soggy. Soggy rice drowning in sauce is not a good combination. Lastly, the sashimi appetizer was served lukewarm. Each piece of fish had a mushy texture instead of being firm, and it didn't taste fresh. Perhaps serving them on top of ice to keep it cold would help. Plus, the miso soup was very salty. Overall, it was a very disappointing first visit, and unfortunately, I don't see myself coming back.

Sure you have to wait a few mins for your sushi to be done, but that just means it's fresh, well prepared, and I got plenty of time to find a movie to watch while I chow down!!! Thank you Mr C and thank you for the extra soy sauce I needed. Really appreciate this business and I'll be back to support them some more

I went with the dragon roll and rainbow roll, and they were spot on. Dragon rolls had just the right amount of unagi sauce. We also grabbed a Thai tea, which alone makes this my favorite drive-thru spot. The wait time is reasonable considering the sushi chef makes it fresh to order. 4/5 for good sushi and the drive-thru convenience

She was patient, kind and very good at explaining every single answer to any questions I may had. The food was also amazing! Everyone was very kind and helpful even if they were not our server. The restaurant was clean and peaceful. And even though they were busy, I never felt neglected or forgotten. We will definitely be returning to ichi Shabu the next time we have a taste for hot pot! Oh did I mention Hailey our waitress? She was seriously amazing!!!!

Our server was Marina, she went about and beyond for us making sure every dish was delicious for us. She even broke it down to how we should cook each dish, she was so attentive and kind. She checked on us multiple times and served us really fast. The Shabu shabu for two was more than enough food for my lady and I. The lobster was worth the extra 25 bucks, it was sweet and fresh. The corn, omg was really sweet too. Marina told us how to cook each cut of meat and it was really delicious. This place is bougie and I love it. They even have floss and mouthwash in the restroom for you after you eat. I am fat, happy, and sleepy as I write this I apologize if it's a sporadic review. I couldn't afford to take my lady on a first special date until two years later, this was the perfect spot for us to celebrate. She's really picky with food and she said it was awesome. This is now our go to restaurant when we're in the area. Such a beautifully decorated restaurant. P.s. whoever is the hiring manager did an awesome job hiring Marina, she's the goat!

Great tasting ramen!…read more My family and I made this place a pit-stop for dinner on a Sacramento to Los Angeles trip. Our original target was the Fresno location, but due to a GPS entry error, we ended up at their Clovis location! It was a little longer drive than usual, but still well-worth the drive. And besides, we were on a family long weekend break so who cares about distance... Our orders were quickly taken on the counter and we were off to find our table. A lot of places to choose from inside and outside seating was also available. And the place was nicely decorated and well-lit! Feels comfortable to dine inside! The menu was quite expansive. And you even have the choice of minor changes to the regular menu. I ordered an Oxtail Ramen...a first of this kind for me, so I just had to have it. And it passed with flying colors! Weird ingredient...but absolutely tasty! And at a really affordable price range! You just have to try our this place when you're in the area! You will love it!

Good amount of tables and seats. Simple, minimal decor and it was clean, from what I can remember. He got the Shoyu Ramen (#2) and I got the Spicy Miso Ramen (#4). We both agreed the broth wasn't as hot as we'd like and could use just a touch more flavor. Both were okay, but I preferred my broth more. I wish I paid attention to the fact that mine came with THIN noods though... I feel like I would've enjoyed my dish way more with thick noodles. To be honest, I should have done the build-your-own Ramen and selected everything I wanted myself... now I know. You live and you learn. The Wontons were good but we didn't eat much of it, as it came out the same time as the ramen. Once the ramen was served, our main focus was on that and that filled us up! Packed the rest to go. For this being our first time, it wasn't bad but it didn't wow us. If I'm being honest, so far-- the best Ramen we've ever had was in a small little shop we found while in Thailand back in March (yup, Thailand!). Unfair to this rating maybe? But-- every ramen I try will be compared to that now (sorry, it was THAT good). Until next time, which there will be a next time (just unsure how soon that will be)... they get a middle placement.
