We went here because of the positive ratings and it was a huge mistake. We ordered Japanese dishes that were absolutely dreadful. The service was not great and we waited a very long time to get the bill; and the ambiance for a rural Chinese restaurant was standard. Perhaps the Chinese food is a better option, but it is not an establishment for Japanese cuisine. Overall, it was horribly disappointing and we can't recommend it. read more

I love this place! I think the sushi is excellent! I have also gotten some Thai dishes that I liked as well, but sushi is the best. Service is always great and the place is big so even when it's crowded, there's usually a seat. I love the decor! I find it incredibly charming that they didn't change anything from the previous restaurant. Very happy to have Tsunami around!!! Definitely some good food! Usually when you get Thai food from a non Thai specific place, it's not great, but since I was craving some, I got the pineapple curry, I asked to make it spicy. Went back for another meal while visiting friends! The restaurant is still cute and roomy. The restaurant was more crowded and people were waiting for tables and pick up. It appeared that there were only two servers which made the whole experience here very long and drawn out. Until we were seated, and got some drinks and our order taken, was 20 minutes. Our waiter, while friendly and nice, had difficulty explaining some of the dishes we asked about. He just couldn't describe them. Tables that were finished remained un-bused. Drink refills were lagging. Clearly the two servers had a lot of tables but they didn't seemed rushed or panicked. They'd walk right by all the tables and never stopped to ask if anyone needed anything. The kitchen staff was clearly understaffed as well, as the food took over 45 minutes to be brought to our table. The food remains excellent. We ordered sushi, basil fried rice, lemon grass vegetables, and general tso chicken. The basil fried rice is amazing and worth coming here weekly. The sushi was fresh and served in a fun and enjoyable way! The rest of the food was very, very good. The price was extremely reasonable as well. The lowered star represents the service, not the food. They just need more staff and then they will get their star back from me. read more

Our dentist, who is Asian, recommended Tsunami shorty after they opened. Have eaten they well over a dozen times (wife's favorite restaurant) plus bunch of takeouts. Never disappointed in the food, their pleasant staff or service. Prices are reasonable with very satisfying portions. Taken friends and family who've all turned into repeat customers. Not many places can prepare and serve all those Asian cuisines successfully like they do. read more

We have dined here many times. Tonight we ordered takeout. It was terrible. The Lemongrass soup was extremely salty and not edible. Also, the orange chicken seemed to be leftovers from lunch. The chicken pieces were hard as if they had been sitting around. Very disappointing. read more

Great Asian fusion restaurant. The staff is very friendly and gave us great service. The sushi rolls are delicious. I had the Tsunami roll and my husband had the Black Dragon roll. Both were really good. We also ordered the chicken skewers with peanut sauce, golden tofu and dumplings . . . All three were good. They don't have a liquor license so it's byob for alcoholic beverages. This restarant is definitely a keeper in our "restaurant rotation". read more

I've been going to Tsunami for a couple of years and it has been consistently excellent regarding the friendliness of the staff, the quality and quantity of food and the reasonable prices. The menu covers a lot of territory with sushi and Japanese dishes as well as Chinese and Thai. I think the sushi stands out most, as far as quality and variety, especially considering the small town location. I particularly like the Dragon Roll, the Sweetheart Roll and the Tsunami Roll. I've been there with Asian friends and they haven't been disappointed. The Thai curry dishes are great as well. read more

I had to send back the General Tso Chicken. It tasted like it was made with the cheapest grocery store sauce you could find. Nothing was good. I don't have crazy high standards, but I've been eating Chinese take out my whole life all over the country and there is a standard, of sorts, that isn't crazy high, but this food was just flavorless and cooked by someone who doesn't get it. I would not recommend the sushi. We give the sushi a C, but the overall restaurant, service and other Asian foods a B+. The spicy tuna was gross, like the put it in a food processor, it had no texture, no crunch with an overall mouth feel of baby food. Rolls were so so. Ambiance is very nice and the service was good. So, if you check it out stick to Chinese or Thai cuisines. We had several appetizers and dishes that were good. read more

don't believe the reviews. this place is not good. i am asian. i feel like this food was Americanized. but i feel like Americans (i'm American too) really like authentic asian food. i go to my favorite places and see people of all colors there and love that they enjoy authentic food. we came here on friday arriving 6-7. this place had few guests. strange to be asian restaurant that serves asian food and it's decorated like quaker state and lube restaurant. but i can overlook this if the food was good. food : shumai- no better than microwave frozen shumai from a grocery fried calamari- served cold. not fresh. it was overcooked, tasteless and rubbery like french fries from mcdonald's that have been sitting there for a long time. you know it's only good when served hot and salted right away. this was flat. green curry- labeled as spicy. this level was one out of 5. but i'm used to spicy. thai iced tea- watery. tekkadon- fine. chicken tempura- unsalted. california roll- fine. no better than your grocery storesushi salmon roll- no better than grocery store sushi we eat asian food a lot. this is not a good representation of different foods. tea is in bags and not served in pots. sorry. i really wanted to like this place because it was new and i like supporting local business. but we will not be returning. service was fine. read more

Granted, it's Honesdale but even by local standards, the food was hardly acceptable. Hot and Sour soup was neither and was not improved by zucchini. Yeah, zucchini. The Pad Thai was also served with zucchini. Sensing a pattern? The soup was not a broth and as for heat, there was chili oil over hot water and what may have once been a tomato. Tsunami is our go-to restaurant. The sauces are not bottled, the orange chicken has actual orange slices in it. The sushi is not only delicious but made with such care. A decent place to get your sushi craving in a small town without having to drive far. Some of the items on the menu was just okay. For example, we ordered the sesame scallop, the scallop was overcooked and bit chewy with this batter that I can only described as similar to a mochi texture. The menu has a decent selection, both Japanese and Thai. We've also tried the pad thai and singaporian noodle which was also decent in taste. The place is clean but the decorations does not match the restaurant theme. Overall, if you're craving for sushi without the hassle of driving, this place is decent for that quick fix. read more

The food was terrible. Had chicken teriyaki which was like thick slices of lunch meat. The teriyaki sauce was tasteless and broccoli was almost raw. Also the eggplant dinner was so mushy it barely kept together when you picked off the plate. My wife's egg foo Young was not horrible. Not accomodations as we tried to get a lunch size portion of the eggplant as a appetizer but we're told it dinner time and that's the only size well serve. Never again. read more

I am pleased to have a good sushi restaurant nearby. On my first visit, tonight, the sushi was fresh and tasty. The ambience is anything but Asian and the music, while mostly pleasing soft jazz, was, strangely, at least 50% Christmas music (in August). On this Monday night it was not crowded and the service was fine. By the way, there is no outward indication but the waitress told us they do allow BYOB. read more

Returned to Tsunami big mistake crab racoon, all cream cheese with specs of crab Beef w broccoli, beef was cold, had a raw cornstarch taste, broccoli was big tough stalks.. Wow, what a surprise in this Route 6 strip mall: Tsunami is the real deal. We had three dishes for dinner from three cuisines: a sushi roll, a shrimp pad Thai, and a Chinese basil shrimp. All delicious. Friendly service, great prices. The restaurant doesn't serve drinks, but had no objections when we asked to BYO. Some odd Americana-diner decor that I guess was left over from the previous restaurant on site, but that didn't detract from the meal. read more

Was in the area and saw this restaurant, wanted to give it a try. There were countless people waiting over an hour to get seated. The lady who was doing the seating was rude, avoids eye contact, and just shouts "next" for the next people to get seated. Amazing Asian restaurant tucked in the new tommy gun range complex near the Walmart. Food was amazing ! So fresh and absolutely delicious plenty of seafood in the rolls not just rice. So many food options all look delicious. We had a sushi boat mixed rolls and the basil rice with beef. Can't wait to come back and try more !! I've traveled the east coast and seldom get Asian food because it usually is too Americanized for me. Because of this, I didn't expect much. It looks like a basic strip mall Asian restaurant when you pull up. Boy were we surprised! Wonton soup with a nice brown broth (the way it should be) with delicate wontons, Pad Thai that wasn't just rice noodles with premade sauce.... but an actual homemade pad Thai sauce, and sushi was beautiful and tasty!
