I stopped here based on the recommendation of a friend. Wow, what a great spot. The inside looks great. My server was friendly and knew the menu. The menu was large and has many options. The food came out in a timely manner, was hot and the vegetables were fresh. Everything tasted great and I will be coming back.

    Sushi is so good!

I love this place! I think the sushi is excellent! I have also gotten some Thai dishes that I liked as well, but sushi is the best. Service is always great and the place is big so even when it's crowded, there's usually a seat. I love the decor! I find it incredibly charming that they didn't change anything from the previous restaurant. Very happy to have Tsunami around!!! You can count on them to serve good food with good service.

Authentic, quality food, at the right price. Bigger space inside than you'd think from the outside. Family-friendly.

Had read good things about this place but the orange chicken was tough and gristly and the Lake Region IGA has better sushi.

Shh. This place is a secret…read more Or, so it seems. No website. No listing anywhere. Google it and you find almost no mention other than an announcement months ago in the River Reporter. Walk up to the door and there is only a small sign that lists an email address (sushibar@barveloce.com). No hours. No phone number. Just Tiki 182, "reservations required," and the email address. And an invitation to ring the doorbell. Which I did, although it didn't seem like anyone was there. But as we left, someone came out. They were open and yes, we could be seated. One party was at the bar. They had to be, because the room is all bar. A large bar that wraps around the room and in the center, another bar. The place was empty (at 5:45 PM on a Saturday) except for us, the other party, and three staff. I'll give the bottom line: Top notch sushi and modern Japanese small plates, like you would find in Manhattan--at Manhattan prices. We had two appetizers. The first was a trio of vegetable plates ($14). If I describe them, I don't think it will sound great but it really was. One was okra wasabe, one eggplant and string beans, and one komatsuna (a Japanese green vegetable), all cold and with various marinades. We are not eggplant or okra lovers but we loved this. The second appetizer was goma saba ($16), cured mackerel with sesame sauce. Mackerel is fishy if not expertly prepared and this was perfect. The sauce was flavorful and thick. We had 7 pieces of sushi (nigiri. they don't serve rolls, $37) and a couple of hand roll (temaki, $12 each). Beautifully prepared, extremely fresh, top quality. Service was excellent. The server was new but absolutely knowledgable and clearly loved her new gig. Pricey for upstate, but excellent.

It won't surprise me if you say "Where's a Tiki 182" when you're in Narrowsburg next. It's not…read moresigned, and not particularly obvious as to where it is. Not sure if that's by design, or by chance, but it is. To find Tiki 182, you need to look for the old Narrowsburg Inn, a former hotspot for Trump fans and stolen election conspiracy theorists. Tiki 182 is right next door to Bar Veloce, and it in fact shares the same ownership. Still lost? Look for the Narrowsburg Union and look across the street. Parking is easy thanks to a big lot behind the building. Parking at the union might be a bit iffy at certain times, so you might be mindful of the parking signs there. Not that I've seen a tow truck in Narrowsburg, but one never knows. Tiki 182 seems to present itself as this confused mashup of American interpretive Tiki pop culture mixed with Traditional Japanese cuisine. An odd mix to be sure. The beverage selection leans heavily on a curated sake list with a wide range of options from mass market through to craft junmai dai ginjo variations. Beer choices skew Japanese (shock), and the somewhat unusual to find Orion from Okinawa. Now, the cocktail side of the house is, I guess, where the tiki is. There seem to be 3 or 4 daily cocktails that all lean in to that genre. Over a string of several visits I tried three of the four on offer that weekend. Honestly, stick with beer or sake. These cocktails will be enough to make you question life choices, and if good cocktails really exist because they seem not to at Tiki 182. Nothing like a terrible cocktail for $17. YMMV. For food, it's a collection of raw fish presented as either temaki (hand rolls), maki (rolls) or nigiri. We ate our way through a lot of options here so you don't have to. Are you REALLY needing sushi? Like, that my life can not go on unless I have some salmon or tuna, need? Then stop in. If you're thinking, hey, the restaurant scene in and around Narrowsburg is pretty dope with great chefs and quality ingredients, I'm sure Tiki 182 is in that same space, you probably aren't going to find what you are looking for. While the fish was all fresh, the slices were anemically small for the price. The quality was about on par with fair grocery store sushi. Most fish was a bit lifeless (no pun intended), clearly had been frozen, thawed, frozen, thawed again, and the rice was just bland white rice that had not been seasoned. Tiki 182 is perfectly serviceable if you want a beer, or grab a sake or wine - you'll definitely find some good (but very pricey) options. Looking for cocktails or sushi? I think your money gets you far better quality and value at other businesses aroud town until Tiki 182 can fix their cocktail game and bring in fish that is worthy of the proximity to Manhattan.
