The restaurant is large, it has outdoor & indoor seating, as well as a bar area. Unfortunately the outdoor seating doesn't really have a direct view of Lake Paupack. We sat inside at a large booth. They have a full cocktail menu. The women sitting behind us ordered a pumpkin cocktail. Their menus is big, lots to choose from. Appetizers included wings, eggplant stack and more. Entrees include salads, soup, burgers, and full entrees. My aunt had the eggplant stack and liked it. I had ahi tuna on salad, the tuna was fresh, delicious and came with a homemade ginger dressing. I'd like to start off by saying the wait staff is terrible. Every time i've been here the waiter/waitress was extremely inattentive. Food is always cold, the portions are small for the cost, and they aren't good. Our waitress was mostly attentive, didn't know the menu but checked in. Our food on the other hand was disgusting. The bisque was straight from a can. The entrees were skimpy. And cold, we all ordered hot entrees and they all came out cold. It was gross. Such a shame because it's a nice spot. I ordered the teriyaki bowl and honestly, it was very disappointing. The rice was watery and had no real texture or flavor. I also paid an extra $8 to add chicken, and the portion was extremely small -- definitely not worth the price. What made the experience worse was the lack of guidance from the server. I would have appreciated a recommendation, especially since what I ordered clearly wasn't one of their better options. On top of that, the service was lacking. There are a lot of terrible reviews for this restaurant, but I don't think the one and two star ratings are warranted. Service is a little lackluster (it took us almost 10 minutes to get seated on a slow Tuesday afternoon). Food is fine but not gourmet (our buckhorn sandwich was under salted and a tad bland, though improved with mustard). And the setting is not as "waterside" as I expected (technically you can see the water from a couple of tables on the patio, but the water is pretty far away and mostly obscured by trees in the summer). All that being said, once our waitress noticed us, the service was quick, and the food was inoffensive, which is three stars in my book (and for the record I consider myself a pretty tough critic). They also have a nice area where you can play Cornhole and rings while you wait, and dogs are allowed on the patio. read more

Great service - staff were attentive and our food was bought to the table quick. We ordered fried calamari appetizer, Wally sliders, fish & chips, and two beers. Don't waste your time dining at the boat house. You will be much better off somewhere else. Anywhere else. The food is, well, meh ? The service is the WORST, when compared to every other place anywhere near by the lake. The prices are higher than average for an area restaurant. We recommend that you try another restaurant, maybe Cora's, maybe the promised land Inn, or even the boat house if you need to be close by. Sorry, wish we had better feed back. We do retry the boathouse every 6 months or so, hoping for a positive change, but that has not worked out in the last 3 years. Maybe 2025 will be the year of wonderful change? Maybe? We went to the Boathouse for dinner on a Saturday evening. The outside music was very pleasant while we waited for our table. We waited over 20 minutes for a party of 6 which was hard to understand since half of the restaurant was empty. They seemed severely understaffed. Our server was very friendly when he took our order but never asked if we needed any refills. My son finished his water and was thirsty the rest of the meal. The food was ridiculously overpriced and not worth it. I ordered the chimichurri steak for $30. The chimichurri sauce was not good and the steak was so chewy I could barely cut it. The rice that came with it was watery. I got a side Caesar salad and it was so overdressed it was completely inedible. Sadly, we will not be back. read more

Took over an hour to get our food. Didn't even get the drink order until 25 mins of sitting. Was not busy, plenty of open tables. Waitress was nice and kind just SLOW. Everything was SLOW. Food was okay, my sandwich was fine. But pricey for what you get but it's near a huge lake so tourist experience is expected. My husband and I stopped at The Boat House, Hawley PA, for a late lunch today. This is one of our favorite venues in the area since it consistently offers great food and service. Julie was our server today who was very efficient and always with a smile. We both ordered the Buckhorn sandwich (with coleslaw sides) which as always was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is just a lovely venue, inside and out. The outdoor covered porch has ceiling fans to keep you cool and help keep the bugs away. You won't be disappointed stopping at the Boat House for lunch or dinner! read more

Can't recommend this place. Food took about an hour from the time we sat down. Most of the food was not good. Steak was cold and flavorless, fish and chips looked inedible. Brussel sprouts were raw. I had the only good dish which was the Wally roll sliders. However, they were quite small. The fries were cold and didn't have enough Old Bay on them. The coffee was cold and didn't come with cream or sugar so we had to wait until the server came by again. Cole slaw was spoiled. Really wanted to like this place but today wasn't it. They did have a huge party coming later that night so I'm sure they recouped their tips then. Bathroom was clean thank god. My husband and I was really looking forward in checking this spot and realized they had high ratings. Well I'm not sure what happened but this place is really overrated and hyped up for no reason. Let's start off with my family and I were placed near a window and it was beyond freezing they didn't turn up the heat [ which is a huge turn off since it was raining & cold outside ] . 2nd we decided to order appetizers and I usually always go for the French Onion soup well it was a little bit too salty , and the Calamaria tasted as if it was frozen and soggy. 3rd we ordered our entress : My husband asked the waitress if the burgers are made fresh or frozen patties . We were advised that they were homemade there well when Mt husband and my father received there food yes it looked amazing but they were frozen patties and burnt as well and barely had any flavor. I decided to order the chicken picato dish & I didn't really care for it , the chicken was really hard & the string beans tasted as if it came out of a frozen bag. CAUTION MENU CHANGE!!!!!!!! We've had a house up here at the Lake for 20 years. This was our favorite restaurant we would frequent 9-10 times a year. We will never return!!! If something isn't broken, you don't fix it. The new menu is absolutely terrible and crazy expensive. App of Calamari-17.00 all breadcrumb, no calamari Chicken Parm- 29.00 This one is the best... chicken n waffles witch is a chicken finger on a waffle with syrup......24.00 We asked our waitress about the new menu and she said because the restaurant is called the boathouse, they wanted to put more seafood on the menu. Food was very poor. Some how worse then the service which was also terrible! Chicken was raw for every dish and 3/7 people at my table ordered it. Not to mention the waitress was either high, stupid, or had zero training. She asked my cousin (13) what he wanted to drink and he said apple juice. She then came back with Hi-c cranberry and said there was no apple juice. Then before that while we were ordering she walked away from us half way threw. It was super busy so I'm sure the food is good. We get there walk inside all the waitresses or hostess staff are standing there. Nobody greet you or talk to you. I waited a few minutes. Our server was pleasant and the wedge salad was passable. Everything else was an epic failure. The caesar salad was made with unseasoned rye bread croutons with seeds. The French onion soup was made with the same seeded rye bread croutons. The fried calamari was inedible. The chili was unexpectedly sweet; and not in a good way. The piece of salmon on top of the Cobb salad was minuscule and dry. The table behind us had similar complaints. I'm hesitant to give a small business such a thumbs down rating, but until the food coming out of the kitchen is reconsidered, dining here is a complete waste of money. read more

I've dined at the Boathouse for years and it's been a great spot for lunch or dinner in a great location. I stopped in this past weekend and was shocked by how much it's changed. The entire menu is different, and not for the better. I ordered the nachos which I've eaten plenty of times on past visits. It was not half as busy as I've seen the restaurant previously and yet they took a half hour to come out as the appetizer. I'm vegetarian and asked for the chili on the side but it was on top, we sent it back and waited again for them to return. I wish I had canceled the order altogether and gone somewhere else. They used to serve a generous portion of nachos, enough for the whole table to share with all the good stuff- salsa, guac, jalapeños, lettuce etc. Apparently the new menu charges $14 for a ridiculously small plate of nachos drowned in sour cream and cheese. They were overpriced and just awful. I can't imagine anyone thinking this is an upgrade. I also ordered the rutabaga fondue with pretzels. I expected the fondue to be a hot cheese sauce but it was ice cold and clearly just came out of the refrigerator. My boyfriend got chicken fingers and fries which were burnt. We left hungry and confused. We ordered such simple items and they took forever to make, we're overpriced and were terrible prepared. Who thought it was a good idea to trash the menu??? My family and friends, 8 people in total, had a wonderful experience at the Boat House after being treated very poorly and neighboring Silver Birches. I got married at Silver Birches a few years ago and like to visit there during our annual Labor Day weekend vacation. This year they rudely turned us away (even though they had a table open- the same one they accommodated us at last year but wouldn't this year unless we paid $100 to rent the room- there were no parties waiting for the table/room that night). We called over to the Boat House, since we had no other plans for dinner and 3 hungry children and they accommodated us right away. They were friendly and the food was delicious. I guess we know where we will head for dinner instead next time. read more

We frequented The BoatHouse since they opened. The BoatHouse was a Lake Wallenpaupack gem and well known and enjoyed by all when Woodloch owned it. Since Covid and taken over by new owners it has not only changed the food choice's drastically ,the quality has also gone down drastically! We gave it a chance for a while hoping they would improve over time.Unfortunately we left so many times disappointed we finally stopped going. We haven't heard anything positive since we left and know of so many people that have stopped frequenting The BoatHouse and are disappointed just as we are. Don't waste your money. read more
