Lack mold growing by the ventalation.
    Joe H.

Came back after a year to check out the boat house and I was greeted with the fresh smell of the bathrooms when entering pure urine. Ok moved on past that to be seated after standing waiting for someone to appear. Ok moved past that and looked up to see black mold growing on the ceilings now it's time to go bc I can only imagine what the kitchen must look like. Never again they should be ashamed but take advantage of people.

The restaurant is large, it has outdoor & indoor seating, as well as a bar area. Unfortunately the outdoor seating doesn't really have a direct view of Lake Paupack. We sat inside at a large booth. They have a full cocktail menu. The women sitting behind us ordered a pumpkin cocktail. Their menus is big, lots to choose from. Appetizers included wings, eggplant stack and more. Entrees include salads, soup, burgers, and full entrees. My aunt had the eggplant stack and liked it. I had ahi tuna on salad, the tuna was fresh, delicious and came with a homemade ginger dressing. My uncle enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana served on a large bed of spaghetti. The serving was quite large

There are a lot of terrible reviews for this restaurant, but I don't think the one and two star ratings are warranted. Service is a little lackluster (it took us almost 10 minutes to get seated on a slow Tuesday afternoon). Food is fine but not gourmet (our buckhorn sandwich was under salted and a tad bland, though improved with mustard). And the setting is not as "waterside" as I expected (technically you can see the water from a couple of tables on the patio, but the water is pretty far away and mostly obscured by trees in the summer). All that being said, once our waitress noticed us, the service was quick, and the food was inoffensive, which is three stars in my book (and for the record I consider myself a pretty tough critic). They also have a nice area where you can play Cornhole and rings while you wait, and dogs are allowed on the patio.

Great service - staff were attentive and our food was bought to the table quick. We ordered fried calamari appetizer, Wally sliders, fish & chips, and two beers. Calamari was amazingly delicious with the pickled peppers. The Wally sliders and fish & chips were good and portions were just right. Best of all, The Boathouse Restaurant is dog friendly!

Waiters were nice but rest of staff is rude. Food is marginal diner food which they overcharge for. You can do better for same food

Ask the Community - The Boathouse

Is there Boat parking/docking for lunch?

Yes, but only a couple available for boathouse customers.

    Quality of food and service?

Service is good, food is inconsistent, one time I went there and loved it and the second time I wanted to puke.

The child that was serving us did not tell us that the kitchen was closing at 7:30pm on a Thursday and we could not order any food past this time. We tried to order an additional round of food at 7:40 and were told we could not. Thankfully, at that time we asked how to order takeout beer and they told us we better hurriedly go up to the main counter since it was last call for takeout beer as well. When we went to order crowlers of the beer that was not available for takeout in cans, the "bartender" audibly sighed before telling us each one would take 5 minutes to complete. Again, beer was great, food was great - shoutout to the kitchen for the curry ketchup specifically - front of house is hurting your business.

The lady came over and she said she was gonna comp my meal. I told her she didn't have to do that because I did eat the spaghetti, or atleast my son ate the spaghetti, so she gave me twenty percent off or at least she said she did, on my receipt, It says fifteen percent off. $2.70 off. Yeah, I don't think we're coming back here. I should have took the full comp off the meal. I was trying to be fair but in the end, I feel it wasnt fair at all. There was a whole piece chicken that wasn't cuttable or chewable. I posted on my facebook and people replies that the food wasn't so good here. I'm actually shocked at my own experience. Because usually when a parking lot is always packed. It's a good sign.

We came to Cocoon for a quick bite after visiting the shops in The Silk Mill. From what I…read moreunderstand, this building was the nursery for the silk worms back when the Silk Mill was an actual Silk Mill, thus the name "Cocoon". This area is rich with history, and to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, this site (right outside Cocoon) was chosen as one of the places in PA that would get a dedicated liberty bell replica. It is dedicated to the very young (mostly immigrant) women who worked in the Silk Mill and largely went unnoticed during their time. The staff at Cocoon was friendly. Their latte machine was out of service when we visited so we opted for smoothies. The smoothies were delicious, might be a little too sweet for some, but I enjoyed my Pina Colada flavor! I am not sure how "healthy" it was considering the vibrant flavor and sweetness, so if that is your goal I would suggest inquiring what goes into it to make sure it meets your needs. The Mac and cheese was exceptional, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his grilled cheese. He enjoyed both so much that throughout the rest of our time in the area, he kept mentioning them. I, however, was disappointed with my selection. I ordered the Caesar sandwich on focaccia. The menu mentioned "crispy chicken" and "romaine" but my chicken was completely "naked" and bland and a bit rubbery, and the "romaine" definitely looked like iceberg lettuce to me, it was yellow rather than green. The Caesar flavor did not come through. A few bites in I was completely grossed out and only ate half, I wouldn't have even eaten that much if it wasn't for the intention of keeping me sustained until our next meal. I would recommend they take this item off the menu, if it wasn't for my husband and son's amazing meal, I would have a very bad impression of their food menu.

I'd mistakenly booked a week before we were actually visiting and Kevin called me about 9 to see when we were arriving and helped me rebook for the correct nights. The on-site restaurant was five stars, too, both for breakfast and dinner. Well worth the trip off our direct route. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely return.
