Waited 45 mins for my food ( that I don't mind ) but not to tell me they didn't have anymore chicken salads when I went to pick up my order was bad ! I gave them a great tip witch I regret now ! I ordered half & half of the Yang Nyum chicken, a small side of rice ($3.50!!) and a small side of kim chee, (also $3.50!) This came to $25.00 before tip. $25.00!!! Listen... chicken, cabbage and rice are ALL cheap and readily available so $25.00 is inexplicably high. And my "wings" weren't even whole - they were just drumettes. What happened to the other half I paid for?! I may return once-in-awhile but I'll frequent eateries that give both good food AND good value. read more

The chicken wings are very tasty and can be spicy if you want. The last time we ordered a take out meal they gave us two of the same orders rather than the separate jalapeño wings and Gal Bi combo that we selected. This place is a must if you are in the area. we ordered to go as their outdoor seating is limited, we got the bulgogi plates ( beef and pork ) which includes a healthy portion of steamed rice and slaw, we also ordered a half order of the Yang Nyum Chicken with their super delicious sauce, everything was better that imagined, even after a 15 minuted drive, it was truly a feast that will need to be repeated, Service was great they were busy but still very nice, food came out just as expected within 15 minutes. Ttobongee's fried chicken is so incredibly tasty that when I have it, I can't stop eating it, and when I don't have it, I can't stop thinking about it. Given our tighter food budget during these trying times, we've had to restrain ourselves from getting it every week. So, last night was our third take-out, which is always packaged really well -- surprisingly, very few of our favorite, pre-pandemic, eat-in restaurants seem to have given their take-out containers much thought for their particular food offerings. My top three in order of all-time favorite to still really great: #4 soy sauce and garlic chicken (it comes with perfectly crispy/creamy whole cloves of garlic), #5 green onion chicken with mustard sauce (the sauce has a bit of kick of Chinese hot mustard to it, eh-hem, not Dijon), #1 ttobongee original fried chicken (oh, so crispy and juicy). My husband's top three are: #7 maip dak (his tongue burned, but he kept eating it like it was going out of style), #2 yang nyum chicken with sweet & Korean chili sauce, #5 green onion chicken with mustard sauce. I think he likes the soy sauce and garlic too, but I don't usually let him have more than one piece. Ha! I should mention that we experience food heat differently. He's more pain on the tongue; whereas, with the mere mention of heat, I start sweating profusely from my scalp and nose which is embarrassing in public, so I'm happy to eat this yummy chicken in the privacy of home. We have liked everything we have gotten so far, but we have more flavors to try! ps - Ttobongee's kim chi is priced fairly at $2.99 for a container. We ordered the half and half chicken for dinner. The chicken is well-spiced, well-cooked and nicely executed. And with no other competition in the area for Korean fried chicken, it does a stellar job indeed. Two problems: When you order a whole order of chicken, it's actually not a whole chicken cut up into all its parts, but a hodgepodge of parts. Our dinner had no breasts, no thighs, just some wings and six drumsticks (the one part we both dislike the most.) This is not how it's done in any authentic Korean fried chicken joint. It should definitely have been advertised as such in their menu. We had a disappointing surprise for sure. Secondly, the price. OK, I'm from SoCal where Korean food is abundant and delicious everywhere but our order of chicken with missing parts costs 30-40% more than in SoCal. Just beware the little price shock. read more

The chicken here is absolutely phenomenal. I discovered this place on DoorDash after a long distance friend was telling me how good the Korean fried chicken at a restaurant near his house was. I didn't know what to order at first, so I started at the top and over the last week and a half I've been working my way down the list, trying every flavor. I've found my favorites and least favorites, but please keep in mind that every single flavor is completely delicious. What follows is my ranked order of flavors as well as my impressions: 1. Yang Nyum Chicken: It's sweet and has just a little bit of heat to it. It's a perfect balance. 2. Gal Bi Chicken: The flavor is savory and complex, almost a little like miso but with a barbeque flavor. Might be tied for my favorite. 3. Jalapeno Chicken: Spicy but not overly spicy, very enjoyable. 4. Soy Sauce & Garlic Chicken: Very tasty but nothing about it really stood out. A good option for people who don't know what to get. 5. Maip Dak Chicken: Probably the spiciest thing I've eaten in a while. Their menu lists this at 3 chili peppers level of spiciness but honestly it's way spicier than the Jalapeno chicken. The flavor is like a tangy savory barbeque sauce and was so tasty that I still ate every bite, just with a glass of milk to help with the heat. 6. Green Onion Chicken: I don't like dijon mustard, like, at all. HOWEVER, even though this chicken comes slathered it so much dijon that my sinuses were screaming it was still incredibly delicious. If I enjoyed it, someone who likes dijon will love it. 7. Ttobongee Chicken: The plain unsauced chicken. This is what I started with, and honestly, it was still really good, you can taste what makes the chicken here exceptional in just the batter alone. I just had to add my own sauce cause it was kinda dry without it. Whatever sauce you add probably won't be better than what this restaurant has though. I've been recommending this place to everyone I know who lives in PG and Monterey, incredible stuff. It can seem a bit pricy but the quality absolutely reflects the price. A hole-in-the-wall. Small place but very delicious dishes and very friendly and very courteous staff with fast service. We were a total of 12 guest and ordered almost 2 rounds and ate all of the items in their menu including the drinks. No left overs. We also even ordered some "to-go" for our breakfast. Service was fast, friendly. Delish food to go with watching 2nd game in the World Series. Holy crappppppp. These wings are INCREDIBLE. We will miss these when we leave. The rice and noodles are also really, really good. Try all of the wings. However if you don't do spicy do not get the spicy because it is SPICY. My husband was crying that's how spicy it was for him but he keeps going back for more. I highly highly recommend this place. I've been here for carry out (unfortunately that's all we can do right now until this virus situation gets better) several times over the past month. The owner is incredibly friendly, and the chicken is cooked to order, so it's always juicy and fresh. As someone who just spent 4 years living in Korea, this chicken is legit. The Yang Nyum chicken is spot on, best Korean chicken I could hope to have on this side of the Pacific. Wow! Talk about a trip down memory lane. This fried chicken took me back to my childhood when my mom (from South Korea) used to make fried chicken for potlucks. I got the ttobongee chicken wings and my husband got the soy garlic combo. Both tasted amazing! Customer service was truly spectacular too, Adam was amazing with taking our order and bringing it out for pick up. My only disappointment was that we did not get the pickled radish it should have come with, but obviously I'm not too miffed about it. Yuuuummm! We got the half and half. The original chicken has a very nostalgic taste for me, I couldn't stop eating it,so flavorful and crispy. The other chicken tasted really good, but I'd be curious to try the other flavors along with the original.
