Philadelphia Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll

This sushi experience was satisfying and filling. I went for lunch on a Sunday after researching lunch specials in the area. For 13.99 I got: -Spicy Salmon Roll -Salmon Avocado Roll - Philadelphia Roll -Miso Soup The Fish/filling to rice ratio was great! The fish tasted fresh and clean and the rice was perfectly seasoned leaving that good umami taste in your mouth. The staff were pleasant and welcoming when I came in, and ordering on the phone was seamless. I definitely will be coming back!!

    Beef Teriyaki

Ordered the beef teriyaki and beef fried rice. Both were delicious. I love the teriyaki sauce on the beef and the texture of the beef was perfect. The rice was good as well - pretty standard fried rice with a lot of beef pieces. However, I got the chicken teriyaki a different day and the lettuce in the salad was so soggy. Chicken teriyaki tasted great though. I'll be down to try something else next time.

When I walked in and asked for a table, my husband and I were greeted with, "We have no bathrooms." This is not a welcoming way to be introduced to your restaurant! I also found the menus to be dirty, and the table was not thoroughly cleaned before we sat down. Luckily, the food made up for the appearance. We ordered the Alaska roll, shrimp tempura roll, California roll, and the bimibop. The sushi rolls were fresh, and the vegetables and shrimp were crispy. The bimibop was bursting with flavor and was too spicy for me, but my husband loved it. Osaku is a great place for a good Asian meal. Just make sure you use the bathroom before you come.

Small but mighty, Osaku Asian Kitchen serves up delicious Asian food in a small restaurant that does mostly carryout (but has 2 tables for dine-in, no washroom available though). With low prices and a varied menu, I was inclined to check this place out and was glad I did. I did opt to dine in on my visit here and had quick and friendly service, as they spent time between fulfilling pickup orders checking in for water refills or additional items needed. In terms of decor, there's not much here as the dine in area is the same as what you'd generally get from a waiting area in similar restaurant. I tried the bibimbap here and was quite happy with the portion size and meat provided. It was a good mix of spicy and sweet with rice that was a bit wetter and a good amount of egg provided (to make it extra rich). The vegetables tasted fresh and the overall flavor was good. I also tried some simple maki options, the california roll, alaska roll, and shrimp tempura roll. The vegetables and fish tasted fresh, with fairly generous sized portions of the seafood. The rolls could have had a bit more textural contrast, particularly between the shrimp tempura and vegetables, but i did like the colorful and neat presentation of the food. Overall, a solid choice for Asian food in the area with fairly good prices, good portion sizes, and yummy flavors.

Great little sushi spot! The Mango Milk Cloud drink is a mango lovers dream. It's like a mango milk tea with some mango jellies and purée of some sort. Loved both the Fujiyama roll & Godzilla roll. The combination of smoked salmon, spicy tuna and cream cheese is my absolute favorite & the Godzilla roll had a good crunch between the shrimp tempura and crab meat crunch. People that work there are super nice as well, will definitely be back!

We were skeptical but glad Yelp rating/reviews convinced us to check this place out for lunch. Divy interiors, more of a takeout than dine-in, though they have 2 tables if you opt to dine in like we did. Food was delicious and well-priced. Sushi was as fresh as any other $$$$ area without the price tag. Hubby's miso ramen was flavorful. I appreciate their broth are on the lighter but still flavorful side. I didn't have to drink gallons of water coz some ramen broth was overly salty and thick. Ramen is cooked al dente as well! We got the strawberry cloud boba drink. Boba was cooked right which is hard to do :) Def will be back!

This place is a wonderful hidden gem of Arlington Heights / Prospect Heights. The sushi is very fresh and filled with ingredients, not all rice. We love the sashimi (no rice) and the shrimp tempura avocado roll. The rainbow roll has a nice assortment of fresh fish on the roll. Our kids like their rice dishes like the bibimbop and teriyaki beef. Their drinks are creative and tasty, not packed with ice. Friendly service always by the owners. They're accommodating and always greet their customers with a smile (I waited for my order). I hope they continue to do well!

To clear things up about their dining area, they have 2 small tables outside and 1 small and 2 big tables inside. Small tables - 2 chairs. Big tables - 4 chairs. On weekdays, you don't need to make a reservation. On the weekends due to their limited dine in area, I would recommend a reservation to be safe. You can make a reservation through Google/Yelp or phone call. Parking is easy since it's in a strip mall. There is also a 3% charge if you use plastic. Just a note, I tried looking at their food pictures on their website, but it kind of runs slow. Sometimes it would freeze. I think they need to fix it. I would return here to try other items. I would highly recommend ordering off their Malaysian menu instead of the miscellaneous. Don't order orange chicken or General Tao's chicken. Very cringe because you can get that literally anywhere. Get the Malaysian food because it's hard to find in Illinois. The owner is very sweet and the service is attentive. We ordered lor bak, nasi lemak, Hainanese chicken rice, hokkien mee, and kuih talam. Just a FYI, the portions are very generous. For 2 people, I would recommend ordering 2 dishes. Prices are reasonable for what you get. A pot of tea is $6. -lor bak 5 - I highly recommend this appetizer. It has crispy pork sausage with shrimp fritters, beancurd, and cucumber. It comes with two sauces. Everything was delicious. -nasi lemak 5 - I love the chicken rendang. The meat is very tender and it has a deep flavor. You can taste the spices that went into it. -Hainanese chicken rice 3.5 - I gave Penang Malaysian Cuisine a 4 because the rice was delicious. HD's version, the rice was not as moist and flavorful. The chicken was not bad, it's about the same as Penang's. It could be a bit more succulent without the sauces. -hokkien mee 4 - this won't be as tasty as in Malaysia. I liked the big pieces of shrimp, an adequate amount of sliced pork and hard boiled egg. The broth is still very good. If it's your first time having this, I still recommend it. -kuih talam 5 - I would suggest this if you like pandan. It's not sweet. It has a soft and bouncy texture.

There's a kind of "night out" vibe here, even if you're just grabbing dinner on a random weeknight. The menu is creative, with specialty rolls and fusion-style dishes that feel a little more elevated than your standard lineup. When it's on, it's really on. Service is iffy to be honest. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the whole experience feels polished. Drinks are well-crafted, and the patio (when open) adds a whole extra layer to the experience. That said, this is where the missing fifth star lives. Shakou can be a little inconsistent. Some visits feel like a five-star experience, others land closer to "really good, but not unforgettable." A few dishes might lean a bit too sweet or not quite balance the flavors, and during busier times, things can feel a little rushed or loud. But even with that, it's still an easy recommendation. This is a great spot when you want sushi that feels a little more upscale without going full fine dining. It's stylish, flavorful, and usually delivers a really solid experience. Four stars, comfortably... with just enough flashes of brilliance to make you keep coming back!

We had to stand in the lobby for 5 minutes without much information, while other groups who came in without a reservation after us were seated before us. Furthermore, the reservation was for the "Patio" and while technically we were seated on the "Patio", I would say it was the bottom rung of the patio. Sat at the first table outside the restaurant, underneath the awning with a bird's nest overhead chirping the entire time. Essentially in my opinion, when you make a reservation somewhere, you don't really expect to be seated in probably the worst location they have to offer. Food was pretty decent. We had two bowls basically. Both were okay, like any Sushi style restaurant, prices were a bit high, especially considering their location in the heart of the AH downtown. I would come again, but for a first try it wasn't anything special for sure.
