This place seriously never disappoints. We tried the brisket bbq for the 1st time and it was great and at the end our server asked if we wanted to make fried rice with the leftovers. That was the finale of the meal and it was so delicious.

There is a lot of love about this place but the flavors are inconsistent. The vibes and decor are great. They have the call button and do respond quickly if you press it. The banchan and complimentary fishcake were great. I ended up finishing my rice with just the banchan as my pairing. The pupae soup was an adventurous move for me. It wasn't bad, met expectations. Crunchy shell some hot soup. Had very earthy tones. Not sure if the soup method boils out the pupae too much. Might be better as a fried pupae dish. The beef intestines hotpot was disappointing. I let the soup reduce as much as I could but no flavor ended up in the noodles, radish or intestines. It seemed to lack salt. The soup mostly tasted of chili that didn't have depth. The biggest issue was with the beef intestines themselves. Difficult to chew and absorbed no flavor from the soup. The worst part was that there was a bitter aftertaste. I personally love getting intestines in various forms but this dish showed minimal preparation of the intestines. It seemed like the ingredients were just added raw to this pot and hoped that it would come together. The waitress did say the intestines usually don't absorb much flavor but I couldn't get over the bitter aftertaste. Seems like a poor choice to put intestines in a soup if it doesn't absorb flavor. The inconsistency comes when you compare the intense flavors of the banchan with the salt lacking hotpot and pupae. Shouldn't food be more salty if it's intended for people who are drinking soju?? I wasn't drinking and the main dishes tasted bland to me.

I was told by a friend of mine that the food was pretty traditional and came here with my Korean girlfriend to try it out. Unfortunately, it wasn't traditional. We had corn cheese, seafood soup, and the spicy chicken and rice cake dish. The corn cheese was as expected, but the spicy chicken dish had no flavor. It didn't even have the spice that was in the name. All I could taste was cheese. We were very disappointed in this because we make similar dishes at home the way my girlfriends mom and grandma make it. The seafood soup had an okay flavor, but there were only 3 tiny pieces of seafood inside of a huge bowl of soup. It was far overpriced for what was received. The restaurant was pretty empty, so service was fast, at least, and they even were nice enough to lend us a charger for the ports at the table. I understand that this is a Korean bar, but I've had much better experiences and food in Korean town in LA at Korean bars. We will not be coming back.

Love coming here for some good Korean food. I love their Korean fried chicken, unfortunately I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of that! But I'll try and add a picture the next time I go, as I think their fried chicken is one of the best compared to other Korean chicken places in the area. Also ordered their squid oyster and pork belly dish which was delicious. The combination of those 3 work oddly well together and everything was cooked perfectly. The service is always on point as they have a bell system which makes it so much easier to get your servers attention without having to wave anyone down. Everyone is always really nice and welcoming. Love the decor here as well, reminds me of some of the small places I would go to when I lived in Korea as well.

I don't know much about Korean food, but I can say that I know what's considered good. And this place seems legit. There were a lot of Koreans here, which makes me think it's authentic. We got off on a bad start, as I stood there, with the staff paying no attention to me for a few minutes. Other customers came later, and the staff acknowledged them with their order. Until I spoke up, I may have stood there even longer. Finally getting a seat near the back, we were told that we couldn't grill, as the designated spots were taken. We ended up ordering a couple of orders of bulgogi and Spicy Rice Cake with Seafood. Overall, a solid 4 out of 5 meal. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located, well, right next to us, the bathrooms are hidden behind a main door. Go to the right, and you got your mens bathroom, which consisted of a urinal and toilet. Somewhat cramped, but it got the job done. Sit or squat? Squat.

First time here and I'm still learning more about Korean food overall. Came with a party of 6 for a friends birthday party. I really liked it, lots of food on the menu and this is street food from my understanding as its not the typical Korean bbq spot. Best to come with a group to really enjoy different dishes. Lots of unique items on the menu, not for the faint of heart if you aren't into different animal parts or spice. Otherwise, def recommend if you want to go outside the norm and try something new and different, Korean food is the way to go. Come with a group since portions are large and its not a cheap menu, runs from avg $12-$30 per item, so its meant for sharing. Reminds of the last time I was in LA having Korean street food. Get the beer and soju since it pairs well with everything. Nice and efficient wait staff. Small spot, so you can expect to wait when its busy. Probably seats no more than 3 groups of 5 then smaller booths for 2-3.

We ordered fried chicken wings, fried dumplings, rice cake, knife cut noodles, and seafood knife cut noodles. Overall food is not tasty. Fried chicken wings just taste old. Knife cut noodles broth is very thin. It's not tasty at all. We paid over $80 and felt not satisfied. Would I come back again? Probably not.

My Korean friend found this place and suggest me for the street food style restaurant. Free Fish cake soup offered. Spicy chicken is my must order. Fried chicken is crispy outside and juicy inside. Ohh, don't forget the ~ Friend made me a fully covered cheesy spicy chicken.

I loved this place!! I hadn't eaten dinner and didn't want to cook so decided to see what was open on a Monday night. Thankfully this place came up and seeing all the good comments made me feel like it was a solid choice. It certainly lived up to the precious experiences from y'all. I walked in and was immediately attended to. They were packed on this Monday night, and the staff was so apologetic for the wait, which was barely 5 minutes. Once I was seated, they gave me a complimentary rice cake (??) for having to wait. I found this so endearing, especially considering that a barely 5 minute wait is nothing compared to other wait times. It really set the mood and the appetizer was delicious and warm. The banchan came next and had green apple soju alongside it. Always a fan of the banchan and that they restock it if asked. I ordered the Korean army stew since I had seen some great reviews for it. And when it came out, I just knew it was going to be a great dinner. The stew was hot hot hot so waited a bit to start on it, but golly was it delicious with the right level of spice to clear all my nostrils and maybe even depression, and to combat the chilly night. Huge shout out to the waitress that attended me because she was always so nice and sweet, would check in with me at the right times, and having gone there by myself, made me feel so welcomed. Will definitely come back sooner than later!

My friends and I went here after the SUGA/AgustD concert in nearby Rosemont. It was such a wonderful experience and the server was great. The food was amazing. The restaurant is on the small side but that is what makes it so wonderful. Would go again,

But meat just tastes better bbq'd on charcoal, y'na mean? It honestly had been a decade and a half since I went to a proper charcoal KBBQ, so this was super exciting for me. The place had an old facade that was reminiscent of the "old days" for me. Not to say it was run down or anything, but everything from the floorplan to the old tables with charcoal pit installed tables reminded me of the KBBQ era of the 90's and beyond. Loved it! My family went inside way past lunch hour, so the place had cleared out and owners seemed to have been having lunch. The two gentlemen eho greeted us gave out father and son energy, but I couldn't be sure. There was a life sized photo of the oldtimer in a marathon getup hanging on one side of the shop entrance, which he explained was taken a decade ago. I could tell he would have been around my father's age, but seemed super healthy. A pleasant man for sure! It may not necesaarily be a good thing for owners, but I love it when there aren't too many patrons around, because it means that I'll get all the attention I need from them, when I need. It was certainly the case here. They were super attentive when we needed something. To be fair, we knew exactly what we wanted, so it wasn't like we needed to call them every 5 minutes, but it certainly was easy to get their attention when I needed another bottle of beer. :-D My family of three order two servings of marinated galbi, contemplating on whether or not to order my wife's favorite pork belly. In the end, we were too full and were glad we stopped with only two servings. We'll just have to come back to try other meat later. This is ALWAYS a dilemma for my family. All three of us each have our favorites, but none of us can eat a whole serving. We usually end up going with my daughter's favorite every time, unless my wife and I are out by ourselves, which these days is not as often as I'd like. We'll just have to wait a couple more years for her to graduate.. Galbi (short ribs) was GREAT! Not much else to say about it, other than the fact that any meat will taste better when grilled on charcoal. With so many other KBBQs around town with more "hip" and "modern" atmosphere, I don't know how well New Seoul is doing these days, but I certainly hope they do enough business to continue to be around. More and more Korean restaurants are moving away from their traditional way of doing things in order to cater to American audiences. They may not be huge changes, but these subtle changes make people like me and my wife a bit sad because it eats away a little bit of our nostalgia each time we experience some. I hate to sound like an old man about it, but I guess it falls to people like myself to continue to support more of the traditional places like these over the young ones. Anyway, based on just the marinated galbi my family had, I must give them 5 stars!

If you love Japanese culture, food, and want to visit a neat place and kind of feel like you are…read morevisiting Japan, you need to visit Mitsuwa! Not only is there a food court of different Japanese restaurants to try, there is also a grocery store, bakery, bookstore, and stores that sell ice cream, traditional desserts, as well as crepes and boba tea! My family and I visit here often every year and we like to try the different foods and desserts and then check out the bookstore and grocery store afterwards. My favorite foods so far have been the beef udon soup with a soft boiled egg, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, and Japanese curry with rice, beef, and vegetables (carrots and potatoes). My son always gets the chicken and beef on a stick and my daughter usually gets a garlic pork dish with white rice but I forget what this dish is called. My husband also enjoys the beef udon soup like I do. I swear that whenever my food is finished, I am legit sad! The crepes are good, there is a variety of boba teas to try, and the ice creams are delicious! Lychee has been my favorite so far but I have yet to try the matcha, red bean, among others! You can get a small sample of different ice cream flavors too, which is nice! I sampled the red bean flavor so that will be my go-to next time! At the grocery store, I love buying Happy Turn snacks which are like a sweet and salty crunchy cracker (maybe it is made of rice?) that are individually wrapped and mochi from the fridge area. Finally, I usually like to buy mochi from the store right next to the bookstore. The mochi from this location is the best! I usually buy multiple flavors to take home and eat at a later time! You must try these! My kids love checking out the bookstore and they usually pick something out for me to buy for them - whether it is a book, keychain, etc. There are magazines, anime figurines, soft plushy toys, pens, and stationary, etc. It is interesting to browse through the things they have there! You cannot bring food or drinks inside but they do have a shelf at the entrance where you can place your drink there if you like. The first time visiting here, the majority of the customers were Asians and as the years have passed, there is now more of an influx of non-Asians who simply love the food and appreciate the culture, which I think is neat! The first time I visited here was with my college roommate who was from Japan and she recommended this place back in 2009 perhaps? I have been visiting ever since with my family. We travel more than an hour from Wisconsin to come here but it is 100% worth the drive! Also, the cashiers and workers there are quick, efficient, and friendly. I have even been able to practice a few of the Japanese phrases I have learned with a couple of the cashiers too (I asked if they spoke Japanese first)! Overall, Mitsuwa is my happy place! Great food, interesting finds, different culture, and everyone there looks excited to be there. This is as close to visiting Japan as I can get until I keep learning more Japanese and save up enough money to go visit Japan someday! This is my dream! In the meantime, we will keep visiting Mitsuwa!

Even as I'm writing this review, I'm struggling between two and three stars.. It's got the hole-in-the-wall traditional Korean look and feel to it that I usually love. The old, faded wallpapers, the run down tables and chairs, the stacked up supply boxes that are folded in all over the place, etc. I usually love these aesthetics. But at the end of the day, the food has to be good to make people like us imagine that the owners cared only about honing their crafts and serving good food to customers and they just didn't have anything else like updating the interior to be more modern in mind. Well, I don't think that was the case. Based on my research, this place must have been one of the better places a little while ago, for it belonged to many people's list for offering a few very specific items that stood out of the menu, mandoo (dumplings) being one of them. Mandoogook (dumpling soup) was introduced as a must-have because of their house-made mandoo. My family and I ordered a few different things from the menu including steamed mandoo appetizer. I honestly can't remember what I ordered for my main and all I can remember is that mandoo was disappointing. It not only wasn't as good as the hype, but some pieces contained bit of an "old ingredient" taste. This visit was only a few weeks ago, but I don't remember what else we ordered. In my book, not making an impression is just as bad as making a bad impression, if not worse. All I can say is that everything else was just average. Not good, not bad.. I did hear in passing, the owner speaking to someone perceived to be a regular patron that she's retiring in a week or two, and that the place has been sold to someone else. This explained the lack of enthusiasm and the drive to serve your customers good food. She must have put the good years behind her and ready to move on, and I happened to catch her at the tail end.. Either way, my experience was what my experience was. I didn't have a great meal and I must give it 3 stars for it. Maybe, just maybe I'll revisit once it's changed ownership. We'll see..

However the food we ordered was just okay. The japchae was good but nothing special and many other Korean places do it better. I really did not like the mul naemyeong. It was so bland with no flavor. It's usually one of my favorite dishes to get so I was very disappointed. I was also not a huge fan of the selection of Banchan. However the service was good and before our dishes came out we were served some nice and warm hot soup since it was storming outside.
