We tried Lefort's Seafood today (Friday the 13th) and had an awesome experience. My husband and I…read moreshared 3 pounds of crawfish with corn and a catfish platter with fries, and everything came out hot and fresh. The service was phenomenal, especially for a new restaurant. You'd think the staff might still be learning the ropes, but our server was incredible. There wasn't a single moment we needed anything and had to wait. She checked on us multiple times, and we were only there for about 30 minutes. The food came out really fast. The crawfish hit the table in about 3 minutes, and the catfish platter followed about 10 minutes later. Everything was piping hot. The crawfish has a little spice, just enough to taste it but not overpowering. Honestly, if they put any less spice in it, it wouldn't have any at all. I saw some reviews saying it's way too spicy, but those people obviously haven't had truly spicy crawfish. The fries were amazing honestly like homemade Popeyes-style fries. The catfish was fresh and flavorful. I would have liked it fried a little harder, but the menu says it's lightly battered, so it was exactly as advertised. They also had us in and out quickly without ever feeling rushed, which we really appreciated. This is definitely a great spot for families because there's something for everyone. The prices cant be beat! This was our first time trying Lefort's, and we will absolutely be back.

I told them showed them and the said sorry and claimed it was fresh and brought out a new plate but it was the same double boiled crap. The corn and potatoes were room temperature and the lobster was like peeling an armadillo. The red beans had a terrible after taste like it was days old. The 5lbs of crawfish was so-so and we didn't eat but half since it was weak on seasoning. A West Bank local suggested it and after he admitted it went to hell since Sal sold it. It I based my New Orleans food experience off this place I would become a vegan. Save your money and gut buy a lighter and eat out the canal. I am truly enjoying having another grocery store down the road. This one moved into the old Laborie…read morelocation and has quickly landed on our list of top choices for grocery shopping. The price on the shelf is their price, PLUS they add a 10% surcharge at the end of the checkout (before tax) for their profit. I'm used to this concept so it's cool with me. The inside has been totally remodeled. The bakery and deli have been removed and a large wine/beer area, dump bins for deals, floor space for pallets of special buys and large purchases (like patio umbrellas), and clearance items. Produce is fresh and looks good. You never know what you might find in the front bins of "while they last" items. For example, I scored a great deal on cheap reading glasses, 25 sq ft of parchment paper ($1.39), next to a bin with chocolate covered cherries and another one with children & women's t-shirts for 91 cents. They carry brands we have had to go out of town to buy (Skinner pasta) and other local items I haven't seen. They don't have everything, but they have enough that I don't have to cross Lapalco or the GNO to get what I need. Hours are 7A-9P 7 days a week. When they first opened there was an abundance of cashiers; now they've pared it back to a reasonable number and the manager steps into a register as needed. No baggers; bag your own. There is a rewards program and digital coupons you can load on your phone. They focus a lot on their generic brands (Best Choice), which so far has been just as satisfying as the name brand. Our fav finds are the Pork Stuffing mix (compare to Stove Top) which has more flavor and is currently 85 cents/box. They also have an inexpensive brand of chip with a German-Style flavor - SO tasty! We also enjoy their brand of soda, which seems to have more carbonation. The only drawback so far is they haven't figured out what's selling and what's not, so it's a what's staying and what's going game right now. I also haven't figured out how/when they are restocking, but I don't think they have either. But we're a new state for them; they'll figure it out. Wide aisles and friendly staff. Their pharmacy is open 6 days a week and they were quick to answer my questions as well; they take most insurance. It's worth a visit - you might even get hooked. :)

Sal's Super Meat Market is exactly what it the sign says it it - a Pickled Meat Center…read more The next time I make some tasty red beans, I will grab some pickled delicious from here to toss in the mix. The meat counter is impressive - they have just about any part of any animal in there, nicely pickled pink. A lot of the selection is from the swine, and appears to be done in house. The butchers are knowledgable, and know their way around a pickled piece o' meat. The first time I swung in this joint, I picked up a twenty pound case of the $23.99 Spare Ribs. They were about exactly what one would expect from spare ribs that cost a buck a pound. They were very lean, very bony, very frozen, and very imported from Denmark. Will enough love and a good pitmaster, they were serviceable. Since then, I discovered the glories of the meat markets at Restaurant Depot and Costco - but they hardly carry any pickled meats. The rest of the store is just a small grocery store, with nothing at all exciting going on, especially with Casey Jones about 300 yards across the street. If you're headed to Sal's Super Meat Market, you're headed their for the largest selection of Pickled Meat that I know of in the Greater New Orleans Area. Four stars for the Pickled Meat niche.
