Needed a last minute acrylic set and I decided to take a chance on this spot because it was super close to where I was running errands. Im glad I gave them a chance! Julie was super nice and understood the assignment of how I wanted my nails to look. I really get weary when I try new places being that it often ends in disappointment & a Freddy Kruger nightmare lol. Ladies I know you feel my pain. Anywho I highly recommend Julie if you are looking for perfection. However if you are looking for a "spa" atmosphere this isn't gonna be your cup of tea. I was getting a haircut next door and decided to get my pedicure near by. It's a tiny shop and you might miss it if you're not looking for it. I had to wait a bit, but that was my fault for stopping in on a busy Saturday afternoon. Anna did my pedicure. She was sweet and friendly and made my feet look and feel amazing. I will be back. They don't post signs up so they can charge you what they want. Told me one price then tried to change me extra at the end. They did honor the first price but that was not without a super coming in and the nail tech lying and saying she did not tell me the first price. Will never go again.... And one of my nails broke after one week.... read more

I got a pedicure & manicure both shellac. I love it, amazing quality. Honestly, it did take a lot of time for the service to be done, but I 100% much rather have someone take their time & do the job well over a rushed job. The 3 ladies were super sweet and were genuinely happy to have me there. The place wasn't super fancy, but seriously rather be here than an over packed place trying to rush through customers. read more

I will be back had a great experience. Went right in no wait around 9:40 AM wanting a basic color change on my feet and a overlay. Because of the previous reviews I asked for Natalie and Nancy .... They both were there. Natalie did my overlay and Nancy did my toes. If you want something quick no extra and on the cheaper side this a great place to come. My total was $63 and I left a tip of course! (No drinks served here) - So I came back the very next day at around 3pm & still no wait. Nancy did my gf nails and we were out by 3:47pm. I've been here several times now. Typically pretty quick and friendly with affordable prices. I just get the regular manicure. $15, not bad at all. They were busy with a full house when I got there. It was a Friday afternoon. I was done in maybe an hour, perhaps a little less? I was going to watch the Astros later so I got my nails done to show my support. Took a little longer. I was happy with them, though. I also get my eye brows done occasionally. $6 or $10 for brow and lip. Sometimes I have to go back and pluck a few strands from my around my eyebrows that got missed but they get it mostly cleaned up and the shape done. read more

I called ahead to make an appointment a day in advance and when I arrived I had to wait 10 minutes. I didn't mind, but noticed that once the woman began my nails she was rushing the entire process. She only used water to clean my cuticles and didn't file my nails at all. Per the photo, my French manicure looked rough and botched up. My cuticles were not even pushed back and they looked like I did them myself. The woman was very kind, but I will not be going back. She had walk ins and was more eager to finish my nails in a hurry to attend to them, which defeated the purpose of me even making an appointment. read more

Tu Nail & Spa is located at the crossing of Fairbanks N Houston Road and Highway 290. It is within the same area as the McDonald's. Parking is easy in the private lot. Be careful though since the area is shared by many businesses. In addition, construction is going on throughout Highway 290. My experience here was decent overall. Staff is friendly, and the salon is relaxing due to the classical music playing in the background. I would recommend this place for its pedicure. They have four different pedicure services, and I chose to do the second option, Sea Salt Spa Pedicure $25. My technician took her time and was nice about everything - asking what I wanted specifically and less of. The procedure aside from the painting was fantastic! Felt so good. The paint on my toenails were okay though. There were a few spots of nail polish around my toenails that she did not clean, and a part of the nail polish was smeared on my big toe. I didn't even notice until I was about to walk out but didn't mention since I was short on time. Eyebrow service was a big no no. This review would have been four stars if it wasn't for the eyebrow wax. My eyebrows came out uneven in shapes and way too thin. I told myself I would never come back for its eyebrow service. In addition, the chair for waxing services is in the open, near the manicure area, which was kind of surprising. Apparently, they have an eyebrow service reward. If you spend $20 or more per visit, you get a stamp of some sort with a date. I believe after 8 of those stamps, you get a free eyebrow wax. For your information, eyebrow wax costs $5 here but would not recommend. Lastly, you get a 5% discount if you check in Facebook or Yelp. Only available Monday to Thursday though! read more

I got a gel manicure and pedicure with design for $40! Great attention to customer service. Plenty of parking. Takes credit cards. Cons: we were there for a really really long time. The lady who did my nails kept trying to insist I go square shape not my usual round. She kept telling me to try it or that she'd do a sample nail and I'd love it. This salon is tucked away behind the McDonalds off of 290 & n Fairbanks rd. I drive by there often and figured I should check them out. I'm really glad I did! The staff there is super friendly. The salon itself is very clean and relaxing. They have a great selection of colors and powders. Alex did my nails and was wonderful. He was very detailed and quite the perfectionist. The customer service here is amazing. Their pedicures are sooooo good. They give you the greatest massage ever and leave your legs and toes feelings amazing. It makes you feel so good and relaxed. Update: 9/3/17 I'd request some of the younger staff if you want good work. The man and the older women don't really care about the way they do the job & when you tell them what you want fixed they don't seem too happy. read more

Had a great experience in here for my first time. I have been going to other nail salons in the area for a while now and decided to try this place out. (Sidenote: the spot I usually would go to let me down with a horrible acrylic overlay/shellac mani which ended up breaking after a week and a half) I find Tu's on Yelp and decide to give them a try. An hour and a half later, I am glad I did. I got the acrylic removed and opted for just a shellac mani and a pedicure to which everyone who worked on my nails took their time and really did their best. I wasn't rushed out of my seat and I got 3 coats of shellac because the nail tech says it always looked better. I didn't catch names, but the young girl who worked on my feet did the BEST! I will definitely come back to Tu's for the princess treatment! read more

I have been to this place several times and the guy does the nails really well. Today a lady did my nails and she was pathetic at filling all my nails look differently. Some are over-filed on edges and some are straight. when I told her, that she overfilled some of nails she was super rude and blamed it on me..then kept blabbering in her own language. Would never go back to this place again. read more

WORST PLACE EVER!!!! I came to do Shellac on my nails, which the lady said is $15 dollars. After I checked my bank she charged me $28 and didn't want to refund me my money back. She offered to do shellac on my toes and when I got there she said she couldn't do shellac only Gel. The whole time she was doing my toes, she was rushing and roughing up my foot. My toes was literally bleeding after she finished filing my toe nail. Avoid this place! read more

I can honestly say this is a wonderful hole in the wall salon, I need a emergency refill for my Acrylic nails, they were nice enough to take me in regardless of having a appointment and being so close to closing time. They didn't rush me the owner took the time to really match what I was looking for and got it completely. They even fixed my originally done nails that were actually crooked on two fingers, and shaved down the thickness on it to make it look more natural. And took into consideration that I type on a keyboard all day and match my nail length appropriately. I must say that this has been impeccable customer service that I've seen in a while. I made an appointment for a gel manicure and pedicure and had to wait 30 min until they got started. They didn't have enough staff to work on both hands and feet at the same time so the whole appointment lasted 1.5 hours. My gel manicure turned out sloppy and looks like a mess. Only used water for cuticles and didn't even do my cuticles correctly. On top of all that, the place didn't feel clean. Towels were so old and dirty. And instead of using her tools, my manicurist was digging her nails into my fingers - didn't feel sanitary or professional. NOT COMING BACK HERE read more

I have been coming here for almost a year now and they have the best service in town! Each and every technician is always professional, consistent, and thorough. Yesterday I went in and showed Hai a picture of a nail color I wanted and he was able to make suggestions and achieve the look I was going for, which was a nude iridescent color. It's going to be hard to put in words how wonderful this nail salon is. First of all, I easily requested an appointment using Yelp outside of their business hours and received a prompt and friendly response the first time I went in August! Second time I went was just yesterday, the day after Christmas, and again I easily made an appointment but I called an hour ahead of time. The nail salon itself is very clean... the pedicure chair was very comfortable. They worked on my hands and feet at the same time both times I've been. I love the polish selection and the products they used for my pedicure. Prices are great as well. I seriously love this salon and don't want to go anywhere else in Houston for nails! read more

Since they have been under new management I've had no issues, I would come in on occasion for a pedicure or manicure. The most recent time I came in I got a pedicure and it wasn't that busy, a lady joked around with my boyfriend saying his eyebrows needed to be done, my boyfriend asked if it was free and she said yes she practically forced us into getting a wax done. We only intended on getting my toes done. She did both of our eyebrows and he made sure to ask if it was free. Then when we went to pay they tried to charge us an extra 25 dollars for the wax, and then said they were joking when they said it was free. They ended up only making us pay 55 for my pedicure but they made us pretty uncomfortable by telling us something was free and then crowding us when we went to check out. Besides for that mishap the pedicure is beautiful and everyone was super friendly and it's very quiet, I've loved coming here growing up.

No problem--we sat in the pedicure chairs and waited. But instead of helping us, they ignored us for 15-20 minutes. We even watched another woman walk in after us and immediately start her pedicure. There was zero urgency, zero professionalism, and zero respect for our time. If they didn't want to work on a guy's feet, they could have just said so. Instead, the rude indifference and sexist attitude ruined our experience. I will never return, and I'll make sure others know to avoid this location as well.

I have never in my life paid that for NAILS. Basic nails at that with no fancy designs. My shellac pedicure (which I thought) was $50 but they failed to explain to me that adding shellac was an ADDITIONAL $20. So $70 for a pedicure?! No ma'am, no thank you. The best he said he could do was give me a 10% discount next time I come in and I told him that I wouldn't be returning. I'm really disappointed. They should have communicated better.

There's no rushing you from station to station to get you out the door. My nails curve naturally and they take time to shape and protect them from breaking. My natural nails are super long and strong--people always ask if they're fake! The products they use don't leave dips in my nails and my nails are so protected that they survive at least a month of daily typing, furniture assembly, and playing with my energetic dog. I had an incredible experience at this nail salon! Natalie did an amazing job on my pedicure--she was so detail-oriented and made sure everything was perfect. Anna did an equally fantastic job on my boyfriend's manicure, leaving his nails looking clean and sharp. The staff was friendly, professional, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. When you enter, there are several attendants ready to assist with your service or you can enter your phone number in the small screen on the counter and input your requested services there. We were quickly taken to our chairs to start our pedicures and offered a menu. At Popular, cocktails are included (one of the reasons it's my friends favorite). Warning - the pink panther is strong and sweet! The technician giving my pedicure was kind and attentive to me throughout my process. I decided on both colors for my mani and pedi; I noticed for the color I chose for my pedicure that they gave me a color that was very similar but not the one I picked; it was a different number. I asked about it, but if I hadn't asked, they weren't going to tell me. For my manicure, the gentleman wasn't very friendly. He got polish under my fingers and cleaned them with a nail file once I showed him, but didn't acknowledge it. I also wasn't offered a cushion for my manicure, so spent the duration with my hands pulled to my right side on the arm rest, which made my neck hurt by the end. I didn't think anything of it until noticed everyone around me with one except me; not a big deal if I didn't hurt my neck, but it did. As part of the package we purchased, it came with an 8 minute leg massage for the pedicure and 5 minute neck massage for the manicure. The technicians asked me if I wanted the massage together or separate, which confused me. I thought they meant both at the same time. I told them together, which ended up meaning I received a 13 minute leg massage and no neck massage. I should have asked more, but felt this was misleading. I would definitely give Popular another chance, but this particular visit was not 5 stars for me.
