It was my first time going to Tu Nails today and I was not impressed to say the least. The salon itself looked very nice and seemed pretty clean, but the staff was unfriendly to me and were very unprofessional. Aside from that, my biggest complaint is how I did not end up getting what I asked for. For reference, I attached a picture of what I asked for, and then what I got. Throughout my appointment, I was moved around the salon 3 different times because I think they wanted someone who could do what I was asking for. I'm not a nail tech, but I don't think what I was asking for was super complicated (you can judge for yourself from the pictures). When I was checking out, the nail tech got into a heated argument and was yelling at one of her coworkers for about 5 minutes when I was just trying to check out and leave. I originally came in on Friday after work and had a spa gel pedicure and a regular manicure. It was a great experience. However with the regular manicure (not gel) my polish was chipping by that evening. I came back on Monday less than 72 hours later. All of my nail polish was coming off on my hands, I was told by two of the employees that this was because I did not do gel. I only do a clear polish or light pink polish (regular) as the gels damage/thin my nails but I've never had the issue of chipping so fast. She seen very inconvenienced; took my nail polish off and put a clearcoat on in less than three minutes She than told me to go sit in the back. I had to ask for a dryer, I then tried to explain that I was made to feel guilty that I didn't do a gel set. They even told a family next to me the reason mine chipped was because I did regular not gels. I attempted to talk to the person who did this who I thought was the manager but she raised her voice and was defensive. read more

I went to pay with a two-year-old gift card, and they tried to tell me gift cards expired after two years. They took it after I informed them that by law gift cards do not expire. The nail tech who did my dip mani acted like I was putting her out by having to take the appt, she cut me, and was annoyed when I was asked her to remove the polish that was all over my skin. She said she wasn't feeling well which I can understand, but it's no excuse to treat a paying client the way she treated me. Just received the worse nail treatment service from Tu Nails in Woodbury! The lady that worked on my nails got upset because I decided not to get gel nail polish. All throughout the nail service, she kept saying over and over how the regular nails polish doesn't last and I should get gel. If she wants to state her opinion once, that fine. The problem is that this carried on throughout the service. She also did the worse job I ever had. The shaping is off and the color was lightly applied. She also tried to push me to use their ATM so I could pay with cash. I had to repeat a few times that it was fine for her to charge my credit card as I was willing to accept the additional 2.5% credit card processing fee. This was a horrible experience and I would advise that people go elsewhere for their nail service. Getting my nails done should be an enjoyable and relaxing experience, not a time to be nonstop lectured and pushed to decide or do something I don't want to do. read more

I tried Tu Nails again tonight for a peppermint pedicure, and I am much more impressed with the overall experience from the last time. I was greeted upon entering. I had to wait 15 mins, which is reasonable without an appointment. I had Helen as my nail tech, and she did an excellent job. I chose the peppermint pedicure, and it was luxurious in terms of the scrubs, length of massage, peppermint mask, and hot towels. Not to mention the care of my toenails were shaped very nice and the polish application was excellent. The salon manager even stopped by to ask how things were going with my pedicure, which was nice. 3 hours after my pedicure service, and my feet still feel tingly and "minty". That's really amazing. I am a super picky person with my nails, but I've received unbelievable results in the past therefore my expectations are of that anywhere else I go. This review is for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. PROS: - super clean place - very chic vibe - owner and managers are very nice - lots of bonus services - good hand and foot massages - they do a nice job cleaning up any polish that's out of line - they take their time and don't rush you out the salon CONS: - personally, I don't like my gel polish to be thick and it's always applied thick here - my polish never lasts as long as I feel they should. After 1 week, my nails chipped even with the gel still on top. After a week and a half my polish already started peeling. My pedicure also only lasts about 2 weeks. - I'm very particular about the application and like my gel polish to be applied all the way to the side of my nails - I can't stand when the polish is applied up and down, and then the nail tech goes sideways to ensure the nail tip is colored. I appreciate the want to be accurate, but my nail tech didn't go over it again (up and down) so in the end you could see the different strokes. I had a dark red polish. - The last time I went, the nail tech was on her phone the entire time which I did not appreciate. I choose to not touch my phone or talk on it when I get my nails done out of courtesy and I wish my nail tech did the same. She did use headphones, but would stop sometimes to change or select a new YouTube video. She also took a call while doing my nails which I found a bit rude. Overall, for the price I would say it's not worth coming here unless you have no where else to go. Most of the staff is very kind and the place is ridiculously clean (which I love) but the results could be better for the price you pay. read more

Brought my adult disabled son for pedi while I got a full set. Felt a bit insulted as nail tech kept commenting on my "wide nail beds, man hands and how she didn't want me to look like an animal". Wow. Then when my son's pedi was done I am pretty sure she was gossiping about him to my nail tech right in front of me. Not going back, I don't like places that treat paying customers so rudely right to their face and can't be polite about a person with a disability, my son is actually a kind and friendly person and he has much more tact and common sense than to treat people this way. I didn't look through the pictures before going here, so when I walked in, I was very surprised! This place is not your typical nail salon! Definitely the nicest salon I've ever been to. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and fast (but still so precise). I was a walk-in, got seated right away at one of their many nail stations and got a gel manicure. Almost two weeks later, it still hasn't chipped. I think it was the owner, or manager, who greeted me at the door. Such a kind man, and asked me at the end how my service was. I really liked this place--they were clean, up to date, and did really well with my seven year old niece. I picked this place because they offered child sized pedicure chairs, and I was not disappointed. They weren't pushy at all--they would ask the basics like, "Do you want your hands done too?" or "Do you want a flower?", but they never pushed it if I said no. I didn't give it 5 stars for a couple of reasons--it was very cramped in there, and both at check in and during the drying time, we were just kind of left with not much explanation as to who/when/how much to pay or how long to leave our feet under the dryer. The nail selection is limited with any quality nail polish. What they have looks like it was picked up at the 99 cent only store. This should have been my clue to run back out the door! I visited Tu Nails & had to wait over 1/2 hr before being seated when I was never told of a wait in the first place . Once I was FINALLY at the station it took another 15 minutes for an employee to come there to BEGIN working in my nails. I went here for about 3 months and strongly advice people NOT to go here. A couple months back I noticed some slight discoloration at the base of one of my nails. Not being a nail expert and this being the first time in my life upkeeping an acrylic manicure, I trusted my technician when she said it just looked like I had dry nails and it was nothing to worry about. Last week I had my acrylics removed because I was worried about the health of my nails, namely the one that was discolored. I went to the doctor after fully being able to see how gross it looked with my acrylics removed and turns out, I had developed a slight fungal infection at some point! Lucky for me, the affected part of my nail has now grown to the middle of my nail and the new nail is looking healthy, so the doctor said I have nothing to worry about. BUT SERIOUSLY!! Nail technicians are supposed to be trained to recognize nail conditions. Now I have a 3/4 of a fingernail that wants to completely peel off and it looks disgusting! Infection aside, I had called ahead the day I got them removed to double check what their procedure was for removing acrylics, as this was the first time I'd be having them taken off. They assured me they'd soak them in acetone in order to safely remove them. NOPE, my technician started popping them off with the edge of an acrylic tip and had removed two of them in the time it took me to ask "Aren't you supposed to soak them in order to take them off safely?" To which she replied that it would take too long, like half an hour to do so. I pulled my hand away and said I didn't mind how long it took, that I was more concerned with the health of my nails. She went and got a bowl for acetone and proceeded to NOT TALK TO ME the rest of the time she removed my nails, even after I made an attempt to say thanks for taking the time and that I was just being a worry-wart about my nails. She didn't look at me or speak me the whole rest of the time. Thanks to this experience, I'll never be getting my nails done EVER AGAIN, much less going to this establishment. Aside from the nice receptionist, my nail tech (Nancy) was never warm to me, always talked to other nail techs while doing my nails and I could never understand her. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I don't normally write these types of reviews but...this was by far one of the worst experiences at a nail salon. First, don't give a pedicure with cold water, don't forget the water is running then come back with a trashcan and try to remove the "cold" water before the client takes her feet out of the water scratching her with the plastic trashcan, do not ask the client to pay before her toes are dry. These are just a few big no-n0's. I explained this was the first time I had been to the salon, didn't seem to matter. Sloppy, rude, unprofessional-no thanks. I will not return. I get my nails done when I'm out of town quite a bit. It's something to do with my non-working hours. I like Tu Nails. They took my friend and I, who was having her very first pedicure ever, on a walk-in. The place is very nicely decorated with a relaxing spa theme. It was also very clean and hygienic. I mean, they line the pedicure tubs with a fresh plastic liner each time. The prices are based on what kind of pedicure service you get, but overall seems to hover at around the $40-50 mark. It is more than I am used to spending, but it was worth it considering all the little things that make up the pedicure. I certainly didn't feel cheated. My friend who was having her first pedicure absolutely loved it. I would definitely come back here. read more

The salon is beautiful however, the service was not. The woman doing my nails continually stopped to answer her phone or text. She was not paying attention to what she was doing and cut my finger. My nail tech did an AWESOME job with my gel manicure - she was super thorough and made sure I was happy every step of the way. I'll be back! *Note: Bring cash for a tip if you're using a card. Definitely not a big deal, but there was no where to tip on my credit card slip and the cashier asked if I had any cash. First, the woman who was doing my nails - Hannah is what she told me her name was- said she couldn't do the nail color and design I wanted a simple white nail with gold.. I already saw the colors so I know she was lying and she made my experience feel rushed. Secondly, not only four days later one of my nails broke off. So quick it was a shock that it happened. I'm giving Tu Nails 2 stars instead of one because she did apply nail polish. I requested a French manicure. Nail tech tried to upsell me to gel nails 5 times; I politely declined. She ground off my polish even though it wasn't gel polish (is this how it's done?); it left my nails rough looking. They were filed too short and unevenly. White tips too wide despite my repeated requests to make them thinner. She took a call on her cell phone while doing my mani. I've had good mani/pedis at Tu Nails in the past.
