I would like to extend my deep appreciation to Dr. Ghitea and his staff for the wonderful care that they provided to my cats and dogs for more than a decade. Dr. Ghitea's veterinary services were always excellent and reasonable. I always walked away feeling that my animals were well taken care of without it costing me a bundle. One time, Dr. Ghitea pulled some rotten teeth from my dog without even charging me. He took excellent care of my Samantha (cat) over the years, and I believe she made it to 20 as the result of his care. When my beautiful Samantha was on her last days, Dr. Ghitea comforted me and told me the truth that it would not be long saving me from spending money that wouldn't prolong her life any longer. Sadly, Samantha passed away about a week later in my arms although she had a wonderful life. I moved to No. Idaho this past year and will greatly miss Dr. Ghitea and his staff along with the memorable conversations that we had over the years. An extremely high-quality vet clinic. We've been taking our two small dogs there and they have received nothing but the finest care. All the vets at this clinic are top-notch and very compassionate, as all vets should be but often aren't. I'm most impressed with their pricing compared to other clinics we have used in the past. When the pricing is fair it is much easier in these tough economic times to give our pets the care they deserve. And this clinic does not constantly "upsell", encouraging more expensive and unnecessary tests and procedures. They fix your pet up, make recommendations for future care and you are out the door. Worst Vet Clinic we have ever been to!!! Office Staff is rude and has serious attitudes!!! Staff actually asked us what vaccinations we would like to give our dog... How would we know since we aren't a vet. After we responded "how would we know?" they were rude and short with us. Completely no customer service. From our experience Tualatin Animal Clinic runs their clinic with inexperienced and unprofessional staff!!! They have too many patients and it shows in every element of their business. We know many families that have left this clinic!!! In addition, Dr. Art Ghitea joked to us several times about our family members dog that had stomach issues. Every time we mentioned her name he would laugh and joke about how often they were in his office. As if it was humorous. It was extremely unprofessional and after the third time we left this clinic. Worst of all, besides Dr. Art's unprofessional side comments, Dr. Art misdiagnosed our little angel. For years he brushed off her illnesses claiming they were food related. Come to find out she had a much bigger health issue. Because of his extreme negligence we lost our precious fur baby at a young age!! Our new vet believes that Dr. Art was extremely negligent and at the minimum could have caused her extended suffering with his misdiagnoses and incompetence! I have really struggled to write this review. For the most part this clinic did what they could for my baby. My cat Sofi had a mass slowly growing on her side and when it became a serious enough concern I contacted this clinic due to the mostly positive reviews. They were extremely booked so we had to wait a month until we were seen. If your companion has a serious and immediate concern don't schedule here as they are extremely booked for new clients. The initial check up was very positive. The vet that saw us was very thorough and explained every possible outcome and potential treatments. I never saw that vet again... After that first visit and after her surgery to de-bulk the mass is when the care took a nose-dive. She was left with a large incision that easily became infected. She went on multiple rounds of various antibiotics. Every time I came in with her again after her initial surgery there was very little information given as to her aftercare. I was never taken into a room to talk about her progress. She was continuously getting reinfected despite my own efforts to research how to keep it clean. The infection became so severe a tube had to be placed to drain the wound. Something that probably should have been placed to begin with. On her last visit to have the drain removed they removed it but didn't remove her original stitches, though the removal was long overdue. I asked before leaving and they said they had been removed. When I got home I realized they were still there and had to bring her back. I was given no medication or aftercare after that. And the lady at the front desk could not be bothered. That was the last time she came to their clinic as she passed suddenly in my arms about a week later. The cancer she had was aggressive and I genuinely think her time was limited to begin with, but the entire process was traumatizing and could have been handled so much better. They rarely called to check in on her recovery. I know they are extremely busy and stretched thin but I felt abandoned and left to fend to my myself and her life. I wish this wasn't the case. I was hopeful but when I reflect on my experience I cannot say it was positive. Rest In Peace, my sweet Sofi. read more

What a wonderful homey vet clinic!!!! We took our 11 year old mixed dog here because we just moved from California and we wanted to establish a new dr for Dante. We had a few concerns on the list (who am I kidding we had a novel of concerns, I'm a worried pet owner with an old dog). Dr Audrey Nelson addressed all our concerns and eased my anxiety. Dante has also been on meds for arthritis and thyroid issues and Dr Nelson said she would refill his meds no problem. Dr Nielsen and her tech were outstanding. We have an extremely stubborn and "bucking bronco" type corgi at the vet. He absolutely hates it and gets sooooo nervous. He had an ear infection and we had no wait, the vet got the ointment in (with her assistant and me holding him down with a muzzle) and outlined plan of care within minutes. Caveat up front of this review is that I'm a first time pet (dog) owner. My experience with the Tualatin Animal Clinic to establish care for my pup was a great experience. My pup saw Dr. Ghitea who seemingly did a pretty comprehensive wellness care visit for her (in my limited experience), including vaccines and getting microchipped. Dr. Ghitea was personable and interested to getting to know his patients (clients?). The prices are reasonable and I did not once think he was price gouging me for everything. The process of making an appointment was pretty easy via phone, though they were booked out 4-6 weeks. I'm not sure what the wait time would be for established patients. It's great that they are open Saturdays! One thing I wish there was was more opportunities to ask questions, particularly being a new dog owner, and establishing care at the clinic. It's not that I wasn't able to see Dr. Ghitea, but the conversation did not yield enough opportunities for all my questions. Despite this, Dr. Ghitea seemed interested enough in the health of my pup, and I left satisfied with her care. I'll likely stay with the clinic. read more

We took our 1 year old cat that we adopted a few months ago to the vet for the first time, just to establish care, and we are so glad we chose to go to the Tualatin Animal Clinic. We met Dr. Art Ghitea, and he was amazing! Dr. Ghitea was very friendly and knowledgeable; he answered all of our questions and was gentle with our cat, Delaney. We also needed to get her claws trimmed a little, but wanted him to show us how to during this visit. Not only did he show us, but he didn't even charge us for the claw trimming because it was our first time, and chalking it up to a "learning experience". I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! My Blue Girl needed emergency spay surgery for open pyometra (an infection in/on her uterus). I literally called 26 different vets/clinics/animal hospitals in the Portland-Vancouver area and was quoted between $1200 to $6000 because it was "high-risk", and some places couldn't even get her on their schedule... Then, I found Tualatin Animal Clinic. They not only did the surgery for only $535, which included the collar and medicine she came home with, but they made adjustments in their schedule to get her in the very next day! THANK YOU!!! Randy, Courtney, Kim, and a couple other ladies (but I didn't catch their names), were all very polite and professional, but more importantly, they were genuine, understanding, and empathetic to our emergency situation! THANK YOU!!! Dr. Arthur Ghitea is clearly an animal lover! It was apparent as soon as he started touching and talking to Blue that he was connecting with her. During our pre-op appointment, he was direct, comforting, and very detailed as he explained everything to me, which made me feel completely comfortable. Overall, I'd enjoyed our experiences here for several years with two different dogs until our last dog developed an aggressive oral cancer and needed to be euthanized. We arranged for Dr. Ghitea to come to our house with a helper to end our girl's pain. After Dr. Ghitea had begun to administer the drugs, he pulled out a pair clippers that he then used to cut our dog's ankle to, as he said, make sure that the drugs had begun to take affect. Guess what? They hadn't. Our girl felt pain, she flailed wide eyed and scared, her ankle bled, and her final moments were of anxiety and fear instead of the peaceful and relaxed death at home with her family that we'd intended. I was so stunned at what had happened that I was left speechless. I'll never forget this experience and the look on our dog's face. I'll carry that forever. We've since found another vet for our latest dog. read more

I have two cats that we take here. All of the staff are so nice and you can tell they love animals. I really like how they try not to charge you too much. They really want to make sure they only do what is necessary for you to have a healthy pet. As someone that is on a budget I really appreciate that. The new location, is also really great. Please Think twice before taking your fur baby to this clinic. I took my 3 1/2 year old, 11 pound dog for general teeth cleaning. I was informed he might need some extractions. When I picked him up I was told they removed 14 teeth. WTH 14 teeth? I was horrified my poor little dog had this done. Of course I wished I'd never taken him there. I was visibly upset and the vet never came out to discuss with me or did they offer to get him. I am still sick to my stomach about this and question was it really necessary? What kind of vet doesn't talk to you after this drastic of a procedure? The clinic has never called to check on him. I've always had a call from other clinics even after general shots. This vet has no compassion for his clients or their pets. The reason I went to this vet in the first place was because of their reviews and pricing. I was quoted $200-250 for teeth cleaning. My charge was $610.00. That's a BIG difference. I hope my dog recovers from this trauma I don't think I ever will. Not a happy customer. read more

Terrible customer service! I made an appointment that was booked two months out to bring my cat in for a minor surgery. They called and canceled a week prior, and said they'd call me soon to reschedule, and that'd I'd be put back first on the list. Two weeks went by, and they called back to reschedule, of course it was going to be two more weeks before they could get her in. Literally less than one hour prior to this second appointment, they called and left me a voicemail saying they had to cancel AGAIN, and they'd call me soon to reschedule. After two weeks, I got irritated after not hearing back from them, so I called in. Not only was the receptionist extremely rude, but she said they would now need to move me to the back of the list, and couldn't book me for the surgery for TWO MORE MONTHS. I'm sorry, but that is absolutely absurd. I understand if someone gets sick, and has to reschedule, but waiting 5 months, and being treated so terribly isn't my idea of a good company. read more

SCARY CARE. Don't bother with this place. This is my clients vet. The called in because a couple of weeks after they got their pup from me it had diarrhea. This vet never even asked to see the dog or get a fecal sample. He should have done that first, plus he didn't even know the state the dog was in. Then the vet "prescribed medication without even seeing the dog." The medication did nothing to improve the diarrhea. I called in to speak to the doctor after the owner left permission with them to speak to me and "they lost the permission." FRUSTRATING....there are better vets out there than this. read more

It's unfortunate that such a reasonably-priced, caring veterinary clinic has to be given such a low rating, but I really want readers to understand before they set up care with this clinic how VERY difficult it is to get an appointment when your pet is sick. Once you've established care, one would think that you could call when your pet is ill even with common problems like an ear infection and get into see a doctor. No matter how urgent or simple the issue, they are always 2-3 weeks out in scheduling and have often said, 'your welcome to see the emergency room'. Who can afford emergency room prices for non-emergency care? I have been with them for three years, and it's been an uphill battle to get my pet seen for any sickness or ailment that comes up -- outside of a 2-3 week horizon. I really need a vet practice who is reliable and consistent....the same thing I would want for a family doctor. When I am sick with a cold or flu or stomach ailment, I don't want to be referred to emergency care and PAY emergency care prices. Rather, I want to see my regular doctor. It should be the same way for my pet!! I hope this review helps others so they can ask the right questions up front about how this practice triages appointments. It's worth looking into. read more

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. The staff is warm, friendly and they carry themselves in a professional manner. I can't stress the latter enough. When my dog tore both of her ACL's they referred me to an excellent ortho surgeon after I had a bad experience with another veterinarian in Tigard. They weren't even our regular veterinarian, we went in for a second opinion. Now I am sold because my experience with that referral was excellent. The reason I am writing this review is because a veterinarian saw both of our dogs after hours for an emergency vaccination for boarding purposes. If we didn't get the proper stuff done that evening, we were going to be screwed out of boarding our dogs. Except for the aforementioned referral, my two dogs had never been examined or treated here. They went above and beyond to help us out - the veterinarian was already done with his shift and no longer on duty but he was willing to come back into the office and meet us. Not only that, they were willing to trim my dog's nails even though nobody else who grooms him has been able to do so. My dog is a 90 lb Shepard/Chow mix so he is not easy to deal with when he feels threatened or afraid. They got the job done and my dog was happy as can be at the end of the session. I have two dogs that have been seen by this clinic for many years, there have been multiple errors in their care and diagnosis. I've waited extra days for a diagnosis because tests were sent off wrong. One of my dogs had a horrible skin issue for over two years, he was miserable, he was treated with antibiotics/steroids/allergy medicine multiple times from this clinic to the point where his skin was completely covered in a rash. He just got worse and worse. I took him to a different clinic who immediately did a skin culture and sent him off to a vet dermatologist who immediately diagnosed him with a antibiotic resistant bacteria and treated him and cured him within weeks. He hasn't had another episode sense, was continually blown off by Tualatin Animal Clinic with medication after medication actually causing the issue to get worse. My other dog was fixed by this clinic, and started feeling ill after they fixed her, was told to call if issues, I called to get her to be seen, and they said they didn't have any appointments, and I would need to go to emergency, which I did spending hundreds of dollars and keeping her there overnight because of an infection. Totally Tualatin Animal Clinics responsibility. Every time I call it's almost impossible to get an appointment, even when my dog is ill, and the reception area is not accommodating or truthfully very caring. I've since moved and I'm much happier. For years I loved this clinic, but it has gotten way too busy, and frankly it seems now like they don't care about your pet or business anymore. read more

Best vet I've ever had! Where do I begin?! They have wonderful appointment availability that has always worked well with my schedule. It probably takes me 25 mins to get there as I live in North Portland but it's worth it. The office is inviting- gives off living room vibes and even has a keurig and fun books to look through The entire staff is exceedingly nice. Dr. G is extremely thorough and explains every step of his thinking, helpful tips about what to look for in regards to health indicators for your dogs as well as what you can do about managing their health. His advice is pragmatic and he you can really tell he cares. He asks good questions about the dogs' health that I don't recall other vets I've had before asking. Also, he is not trying to bleed you dry. He explains what things cost, what your options are and finally what he thinks is and is not necessary. Even if it is a little bit of a drive, it's worth it for the excellent bedside manner. Thank you and please keep doing what you're doing, Tualatin Animal Clinic!! read more
