We have been coming here for two years. I came here because Dr. Utsey is a Fear Free vet, but have stayed as much for the staff as Dr. Utsey. I have two reactive springers who needed a lot of patience when I got them. There was so much compassion from the folks here. Eileen especially was so great when I needed a human touch - I was in tears about the dogs, who were fighting, and she went out of her way to make sure I had what I needed. When I first started going to crossroad in 2019 they were on top of their game. Super friendly and great with my shepherd. But then things really started going down at first I thought maybe covid but there was always some confusion as to what they were doing. To the point they would ask us what shots they needed. Then we got another new female puppy and we were going to get her fixed when we brought her in they had her down as tilly needs to be neutered. Sorry but my female dog does not identify as male Today they broke the camels back. I was scheduled to bring in tilly for her 1 year shots they told me I didn't have an appointment. I showed them the email that showed I did and they told me they might be able to fit me in. I called BS on that being I took time off work to bring her in. The girl at the front desk was extremely unfriendly with no customer service. Made me feel like I was inconveneincing her because of their mistake. This review is for the staff and Dr. Kerri Jackson. Allie and I moved here a few years ago and I had to find a vet for her care. She was a geriatric kitty and every visit was well organized, fairly priced, and the service we received was so positive. Everyone we met worked with us to find solutions to any health concerns she had, and they were so kind to go over pricing every time before any procedure was done. Today, we took Allie in to urgent care as she stopped eating and was very lethargic. It turns out, she had cancer. Dr. Jackson went over our options in detail and spent so much time answering all of my questions. Unfortunately, while at the vet, her health declined and at the age of 16, we had to say goodbye. The staff made accommodations for us and allowed us to stay even during their closed lunch break hours to say our goodbyes. They honestly made such a difficult situation so much easier and I cannot thank them enough. While it will be some time until another animal enters our lives, I am certain that I will take whatever future animal I am blessed to know to everyone at Crossroads for their care. Having just listened to an interview regarding the high rate of suicide among veterinarians, I feel compelled to write this positive review of the doctors and staff at Crossroads. I've been a client for many years and my cats have always gotten great, thorough care. I've seen how hard they work, even more now, not being able to have pet parents in the clinic. It looks to me like they are working their tails off every day for long hours. It must be thoroughly exhausting! I am SO grateful to have such wonderful people to turn to when my cats need care. The one star is because 0 stars is not an option. In my past years we have taken our 11 year old dauschund and 7 year old cat. We used to have a decent experience. Nothing personable and nothing outstanding but it was good enough. ( although, the price was not decent at all for the service you're getting) After having a very horrible experience with her microchip being poked in her WITH THE PLASTIC covering on, and no apology no nothing, and no questions or check ups after an injury she had. I had to go out of my way for the vet to stay in the room more than 5 minutes. After hearing good reviews for "Guardian Veterinary care" just down the road, I decided to make the switch. Within 10 minutes of my arrival I felt a severe difference. Not only did they get her previous records their self, they asked all sorts of questions regarding previous injuries, shots, etc. INCLUDING apologizing for her previous microchip experience at her last vet (crossroads). They spent over an hour with me explaining their "fear free" training required by every single vet tech. I can hear them reassuring my dog in the back room with praises and the upmost respect for their animals. My point in this, is if you're looking in the area. I have been with Crossroads for the last 4 years. My husband and I moved from Hillsboro where we had been going to another vet who went from being a small vet when we first started there with our pug, to a business that was more concerned about the money than the care of my beloved fur babies. From the moment we started, the vets and staff have been nothing but amazing. Covid has put strain on all businesses and It hurts me to read negative reviews during a time when we are all trying to navigate something that NONE of us have ever had to navigate to before. This is a world wide pandemic! try to be kind! During the 4 years we have been with them, I have lost two dogs. My sweet little Chester from a fast growing cancer and most recently, last week, my sweet 14 year old pug. It appears that he may have had a stroke and when I called to tell them it was time, they cleared their schedule and put us on the schedule in an hour. We recently switched from another vet to Crossroads and we could not be happier. Our old vet had a very narrow treatment plan for our diabetic cat. Our old vet was also not open on weekends which make a huge difference for people who work Mon-Fri. Although cost should not be the only determining factor when picking a vet, they also cost about half as much as our last vet for similar services. I began visiting Crossroads Vet in 2011 when I moved from Bend to Portland. They came highly recommended from my parents who live in the area. Sherwood from Beaverton can be a long drive, but the service and prices make it all worth it. They do a great job with dental surgeries. I have recommended them to many friends. We originally decided to find a vet closer to our home in Portland, but they vet gave us a $1200 estimate for a teeth cleaning with 2 extractions. When I went to Crossroads, the same cleaning and teeth extraction estimate came to only $500! So I called at 5:45pm to ask if I can please come in because I have a very sick cat. The lady on the phone said "as long as you get here before 6" I said "okay we are on our way right now." I arrived at 6:01 and knock on their door. The lady said "too late the doctor left". So, I understand that I was late and I didn't get there at 6:00pm. But, a little grace would have been nice. My pet sitter recommended these guys and I've been very pleased. The staff is very friendly & concerned. I've worked with Dr. Utsey, Dr. Smith & Dr Jackson - all have been great - very upfront and clear their focus is the animal. My dog needed to see a specialist for something going on with his toe - Dr. Utsey and the clinic worked with the specialist & me to get Max back on his feet with the best care for the money. My cat has a auto immune disease that attacks his teeth and means he basically ended up with most of them pulled. They took great care of him & good care of me - and followed up promptly to make sure he was doing ok after surgery (and I was doing ok giving him meds). The only thing I wish is that they had someone that specialized in pocket pets - I take my Guinea Pigs to Beaverton. Its so much easier to get to Sherwood. read more

My mother mother has been going to Crossroads Veterinary Hospital for almost 10 years, she has been bringing her pets there for everything from eye removal surgeries to basic shots,and has spent thousands of dollars there!! On Thursday May 3rd,2012 my mother who is almost 70 yrs has a 12 year old Papion "IZZY B"my mother called Crossroads Vet to get an emergency appointment for little IZZY B, because she had been vomiting and not even able to drink water,or keep it down, she was very ill, dehydrated and not doing well, they told my mother they wouldn't see "IZZY B" until she had cash in hand, my mother explained she would get paid on Saturday May 5th,2012 and it would not be a problem, nor had there ever been a problem in the past paying 1000's of dollars ON DEMAND,EVERY TIME !! They told my mother to GO AND GET A LOAN, they turned her away and said there was nothing they could do to help little "IZZY B"!! Despicable PEOPLE !! On Friday morning May 4th, at around 8 a.m.,my mother called me from her work crying, she told me of her situation after having a very difficult night of watching her little baby laying there in pain and not knowing what to do, when she called me and told me, I immediately went and got "IZZY B" and when I arrived Izzy B was laying on the kitchen floor with her legs stiff and she couldn't move, her eyes were able to blink she was totally dehydrated, I bundled her up in a towel and rushed her to Campanion Pet Clinic in Hillsboro, I am in tears right now while I am writing this,Sorry,they took her in an hooked her to fluids,gave her pain medication,a simple blood test showed her kidneys had begun to fail,VERY PAINFUL, unfortunately little Izzy B had to be put down,Companion Pet Clinic was Incredible, they were understanding,they showed empathy,and they cared about the ANIMAL!! They took me basically as a drop in and not only was the vet tech kind, thoughtful and sweet, but the vet who saw us spent some quality time listening to me talk about my dog's special needs and discussing what our options were. Excellent outcome. Second time we went down there (I'm from Portland) was for an emergency tooth extraction - same dog - fractured his tooth late Sunday night. They had an opening for surgery first thing Monday morning and not only was their price very reasonable, but the vet (different one) was very attentive and extremely competent. Visited the vet once and was very impressed. I've gone to Banfield in the past and our dogs have been misdiagnosed there with issues so i was referred to this vet from friends, i wanted to try something new. Our dog had eaten something and had symptoms associated with it. I called to make an appt, and based on our issue, they suggested we just come in -- we took our dog to them and they were able to squeeze us in between appts. Based on the symptoms, they didn't push expensive xrays on us, which was nice. Overall, i was happy with our experience and will definitely come back. Since i only visited once, i didn't think i could put 5 stars quiet yet, but overall, very happy with our visit. read more

Very happy with our first visit here! The vet was knowledgeable and friendly and didn't try to up-sell us on anything. She told us exactly what we needed, what was optional but recommended, and what was not really needed but available. I had my toddler with me when I took my dog in and the waiting room was kind of crowded. My dog doesn't do well in large groups. The woman behind the counter noticed my dog was a bit tense and she was able to get me into a room ASAP to fill out the paperwork so I didn't have to wrangle a toddler and a nervous pup. Crossroads Veterinary Hospital in Sherwood Oregon Best Bang for your Buck. Quality care at great prices, 7 days a week, they treat feral cats, they take emergencies. I think of them as a doctor/urgent care for pets. I can't say enough good things about this place and the staff are superb. They go out of their way to help you help your pet, and to be nice when you are worried about an illness or worse, saying goodbye ;-( The Doctors are caring and I have observed animals saved that no one would have guessed would survive. The staff are lovely and quirky. One nice lady at the front often has a different hat every time I am there and everyone acts like they love helping clients. The staff are always nice and try to help in any way they can. Its a well run place has a family helpful feeling. I have been involved in animal rescue for over 30 years, Crossroads is the best hospital for a rescue or a person who is of modest means to get high quality great care for their animal. I currently work with 2 rescues that bring their animals to Crossroads because of the quality care at very low prices. (One president of a LARGE rescue told me horror stories about some discount vet hospitals in the region and said Crossroads is cost comparable with the lowest cost but gives tremendously higher quality high care, and they give it consistently!) Crossroads will always fit in an appointment or emergency though the last minute add on cost is a whopping $13. (so low!) Their appointment cost is $32 their drop in/emergency cost is $45, this is insanely low and they give great care in a kind way. All the doctors are great I just don't remember their names. I do remember Dr Utsey was recommended to me by the Veterinary Eye specialist as being very competent to do a foster rescue cat's eye surgery at much lower cost than the specialist herself could provide . Dr Utsey worked wonders. On another occasion she came in on her day off to do surgery on a terminally ill rescue kitty patient to get him more time and quality. In part from her help he got adopted and has a few years to live when his life was almost over. Thank you for saving him. I know the staff were paid, but the staff went out of their way to help in unscheduled difficult ways on urgent rescue pet visits multiple times. The staff are always healthful, always polite, and seem to genuinely care about having a nice place for pets to seek care and are good with each other. If you need a specialist for a specific problem your pet has then seek the appropriate specialist, but for general care of GOOD QUALITY AND GOOD PRICE and a nice atmosphere for your pet and yourself Crossroads is tops. I am recommending Crossroads to everyone in the Sherwood, Newberg, Tigard area. I have been going with my cats and puppy there for the last 3 years. I recently moved out of state, but they helped me out so much before I left. I couldn't believe how considerate and thoughtful they were when I had to take my old cat Cali in to be put down. She was sick and just barely able to move, ready to be at peace, and they helped me through it. They made it easy for me physically, and then they made me feel it was the best choice for her. I did not want her to suffer any more, as she was slowly deteriorating. So, I moved after that and got on with my life, missing my kitty. 3 weeks later a card was forwarded to me, the sweetest card I have ever seen. It had a hand written sentiment, with Cali's actual paw prints on it. Then it was signed by all the Drs. and assistants that were there. I was beyond words when I got it. This by far was the worst veterinarian clinic experience I've ever had. I decided to try Crossroads since it came highly recommended by the Sherwood community and from the reviews I saw on yelp. Boy was I disappointed. From the second I walked in the door there was no "Hello or welcome". I told the receptionist I was there for a new patient appointment and was just given a clipboard to fill out with no explanation and no "welcome in! Glad you chose us!" or any greeting. When I was finished I handed the clipboard back and was completely ignored. Then proceeded to sit in the lobby without being acknowledged. My mom took my dog outside since she was a little nervous and when she came back in asked the receptionist if she had a garbage since there was none outside for waste bags. The receptionist looked like a deer in headlights and said nothing, while another lady from the back room sent my mom across the parking lot, by the side of the highway to some trash can instead of offering to throw it for her. We were then called back to the room by the vet tech. I was already skeptical and was shocked at the lack of welcome and asking about my pet when we entered the room. The doors to the exam room were left open to the lobby and back room (where other vet techs were talking and laughing loudly) which of course caused more stress on my already stressed out dog. The vet hardly asked any questions, told me I needed 2 shots for my dog and didn't even ask if I needed any flea medicine or anything. Was very vague and short. She showed me a different way to clean my dogs teeth and was half ass and only did one side of my dogs mouth when I had explained I was concerned about her teeth. When it came time for shots I was shocked that the tech whipped out the medicine and did it right there, not bothering to ask if we minded or anything (other vets take the animal in back). After, I was sent out to the lobby back to the rude receptionist who didn't say a word or make any eye contact for about 5 minutes while on her computer and then proceeded to tell me my total. Never explained what I was paying for or anything. Then was handed my papers and left without a goodbye. In her defense the receptionist, Kellie, had an "in training" sticker on her name tag, but even then that doesn't excuse the lack of greeting or even basic customer service from her or anyone else in the clinic. I will for sure not be coming back. Was highly disappointed and am mad I wasted my money for a "vet visit" if that's what you want to call what I had. read more
