Three years ago I left a glowing review for Cat Care Professionals but unfortunately I can't recommend them any longer. We have gone to Cat Care for almost thirty years and always had top notch care for our kitties. Dr Cornwell was amazing and the staff outstanding. Unfortunately Dr Cornwell retired and sold the practice. My understanding is a corporation purchased the practice and as with most acquisitions like that profits out way service. Our last check up for our three healthy cats cost over $1000. Before the sale the cost was less than $400. Luckily we found one of the Cat Care vets that started her own practice and have transferred all kitty care to her. read more

I cannot in good conscience recommend Cat Care Professionals any longer. They will not treat my almost 14 yo indoor diabetic cat because she has not had a rabies vaccine. I can understand needing precautions, but they denied a prescription cat food through Chewy and won't even do a blood glucose curve and let me send it via email as we have done three times previously in the past 3 months. They saw her in clinic about 6 months ago and missed that she didn't have the vaccine. Once they found that, they cut all care. Oregon Secretary of State registration shows the Authorized Representative for Cat Care Professionals as Peter Jacobson. Per his LinkedIn page, Peter Jacobson is the CFO of Western Veterinary Partners (also noted in the Oregon Secretary of State registration) which, "is a private equity backed company that acquires and manages veterinary clinics throughout the U.S." The care shows it. I'm sure the staff cares, but they were happy to take my money and drop my cat who needs care. I would give a zero if I could. (They were a 5/5 about 10 years ago.) read more

The best thing about Cat care is Dr. Kris Ellingsen! She has been thoughtful caring and brilliant in treating my cats. Unfortunately she is leaving. The downside of what's happening at Cat Care is that a private corporation has purchased the clinic and the fees have gone up drastically since we first started coming here. I realize that's happening across the industry yet even the fees at other corporate owned clinics are less than here. I'll miss working with Dr Ellingsen and I appreciate the care she's given to our tiny tribe! read more

Another successful Cat Care Professionals visit that my cat loved. While the trip to the vet was a bit stressful for the humans, Potato had a good time at his kitty annual. We needed a general checkup and a vaccine, and Dr. Sanders and team were amazing. My little guy purred throughout his exam (in all my life having cats this never happened!), he got a ton of treats and churu as well. You can really tell all the staff loves cats. read more

We established care for our two senior kitties approximately two years ago. At the time we established, the care was acceptable, mostly because they were in a convenient location. Since that time, the care has consistently declined until we needed to establish at another vet. CCP has cancelled appointments on us multiple times and are extremetly hard to get a hold of on the phone. This is likely because of staff turnover. Each time we visit for the nail trims, there are new vet techs/receptionists at the front desk. Just last month (Dec. 2022), CCP cancelled on us twice to have one of our kitty's nails clipped. When I called this morning to confirm the third appointment, no one answered. I took our kitty to the appointment anyway, and even though in his chart it asks the vet techs to wear gloves, they needed to be reminded. They clipped his back nails and then said we'd need to come back to complete the front because he was too upset. Four appointments to complete a simple nail trim is unacceptable business practice for a vet. When I asked if they had a veterinarian on location, they said they did not. This time it was because the vet had called out sick, which seems to be consistent with the staff turnover. When I called in to speak to a manager about this issue, my call was not returned. Given there is not a vet on duty when they are open, they consistently cancel appointments, they are very hard to get a hold of on the phone, and the constant staff turnover, I would suggest getting your kitty's needs met elsewhere. 1/5 stars. read more

Doctor Cornwell is by far the most kind and thorough vet I have ever worked with. Working in animal care myself, I am very sensitive to the types of professionals I use for my own pets and my experience yesterday was 10/10 phenomenal. I brought my 2.5 year old female cat in for her first annual exam and she was very nervous. Dr Cornwell did the entire physical in a way to allow Rosie to stay hidden and comfortable under a blanket. Her language and movements reflected how well she understood cats of all natures and her deep respect for her clients and their experience. Rosie had the most positive experience she could have. I'm beyond disappointed in the care that my beautiful cat received at Cat Care Professionals and I will never bring my other cat through your doors. I don't know if having faster treatment for hypertension would have meant that my cat, Lexi, would still be alive; I do know that the vet said hypertension could cause her symptoms a week before Lexi died. However, when I asked her if she was going to check Lexi's BP she refused, stating something ridiculous about the cat possibly becoming aggressive (there was a note about Lexi showing her claws on a previous visit but she never actually hurt anyone). Instead, the vet prescribed prednisolone and an antiviral. Within a few days Lexi was breathing faster and not eating or drinking and I was able to get her in for a BP check and for blood work, five days after the first visit. That was when she was diagnosed with hypertension and I was told she would be prescribed a medication for it. Two days later, and after trying repeatedly via phone and email, I still didn't have that treatment. Their excuse was that they weren't sure whether I wanted pills or liquid, which is ridiculous because they knew Lexi wasn't eating and I had been calling and texting for two days Later, on that 2nd day, when Northwest Compounders called to say her pain med was ready, I asked about the hypertension med. He said they never even mentioned it so he called Cat Care Professionals on my behalf. Over 48 hours after diagnosis I finally got that hypertension med, thanks to him, but the next morning my cat could no longer stand up or breathe and I had to have her put down. They had no problem charging me for tests, and telling me what they thought might be wrong, but did nothing in a timely fashion. Now I wonder if my cat had a stroke, as she started getting wobbly in the legs like my grandma did before her stroke. Her blood pressure should have been checked on that previous Thursday, over a week earlier, the day the vet said that hypertension could be causing her problem. She should have been treated then and there. And when I took Lexi back in on Tuesday and mentioned that she was breathing fast, that didn't seem to phase anyone. And there she had been, all that time, with a hypertensive issue that was completely brushed off until I pushed to have it checked. I'm just gobsmacked and I am so angry. This has been one of the most stressful and utterly painful times of my life. The fact that Lexi had severe hypertension makes me look at the vet who saw her initially, suggesting that hypertension could be the culprit but denying a test for it at the time because she was worried about getting scratched, as irresponsible, uncaring and incapable. read more

I had never taken my kitty to a boarder before, so I was definitely nervous to leave her somewhere. But this place had fabulous reviews, so I figured she would be okay. I called halfway through my trip and they provided an update, which I really appreciated. When I picked her up she was happy, smelled amazing, and her fur was so soft. Not sure if they bathed her or brushed her or what, but I appreciated it. The staff is super friendly, and I would happily leave my old girl with them again (she's 16). For reference, she stayed in a kitty condo and I could easily fit her bed plus one of the long/narrow scratchers from petsmart. My kitty also requires a decent amount of medication, and that was no issue, just a small fee per med. read more

When your kitty is sick, nothing matters more than CARE and compassion. Laura was with me and my first kitty that I lost last January, when we said goodbye. She was SO kind and so supportive. Her words stayed with me, even to this day when she said "there will be a relief you feel because you no longer have to worry "when" it might happen or if he is going to be in pain." I had an urgent situation with another kitty and we brought him in, Laura met me at the desk, and as usual explained EVERY bit of what would happen. The staff was wonderful about updating us on his progress and how he was doing. Then I got a call from Dr. Barkley to walk me through everything. I am SO thankful to say that he isn't just doing a little better, he is thriving again. Happy, hungry and back to himself. Because Dr. Barkley fights for these kitties and loves them almost as much as we, the owners do. I cannot say enough about the care and compassion she and Laura have offered to our family of kitty cats over the past 2 years. I am SO very thankful to have found this wonderful vet's office. I was absolutely shocked to receive a call on Friday from Dr. Barkley, JUST to follow up and check on my kitty boy. She sent an email detailing his condition, care and follow up. Then she called to make sure it was all understandable and clear to us. THANK you all, because without you, I am not sure another vet would have diagnosed him properly and helped us to have a kitty home and healthy again. I can never express my gratitude. read more

This place is fantastic. I wish I had known sooner that there was a place that catered only to cats. My senior arthritic diabetic kitty was seen by Dr Cornwell and she is excellent. I didn't realize that I had been overdosing my cat with insulin injections because I was not able to obtain blood samples from home I was only able to get her readings when I was at the vet. I also was unaware that I could obtain her blood glucose from urine strips and samples. This is how I am monitoring her blood sugar and am reducing her insulin intake. This knowledge has made me and kitty feel better already. Although my precious kitty appears to have a heart condition at least I know what to expect and what I'm dealing with. The entire office staff is friendly helpful and very professional and they always return your emails. I have been to many many vets over the years and Dr Cornwell is by far the best when it comes to cats.. I will be going here from now on and in the future when I have other cats. read more

If you really cared someone would have called to tell me my appointment was cancelled so I could have gotten proper care for my cat elsewhere. I am so thankful to have been referred to Cat Care Professionals by a family member because they have been nothing short of amazing! I took my sweet 12 year old cat to them (for the first time ever) on Monday after coming home from vacation to find that she wasn't eating or drinking at all, and from the very first phone call they put me at ease and gave me the best advice. They have since diagnosed my cats issues and set us up with a plan that we feel comfortable and confident with. They did not try to push any treatment on us, and were very open about all of our options which is something that I have not always found at our previous pet clinics. I took my kitty here for an emergency vet follow-up, new patient, could not have been more pleased with their care. From the very beginning, you can tell they love cats and care about their wellbeing. I had to make the tough decision to put my boy down, they were right there with me with sadness. Recently moved to the Lake Oswego area and needed to find a vet nearby ASAP for my older kitty, Oreo. She was experiencing mouth pain and it needed to be remedied. I have had nothing but positive interactions with the Cat Care team so far. The staff is friendly, professional, compassionate, and completely upfront about pricing. They were able to perform an evaluation and a tooth extraction on my cat within just a couple of days. I scoured yelp and citysearch to find a stellar vet for my cats. I was pretty confident going in that I had found the right one, and much more confident going out! The office was comfortable, clean and well-lit. The receptionist seemed like she got things right and didn't leave anything out, which is more important and rare than I used to think. Even though I was 20 minutes late, they got me in after about 10 minutes. It was clear they wanted to educate me about everything and give me options on every level. The girl who helped me at first was very bubbly and sped through all my options. I was able to decide exactly which vaccines I wanted, instead of them just being given all four. The vet who examined and vaccinated my cats, Dr. Teresa Cornwell, was my favorite of all the vets I can remember having seen. Ever. She didn't seem at all rushed. She treated my cats gently and was happy to answer any questions. She even stayed and talked with me about dry vs wet food and the issue of overweight cats for maybe 10 minutes. The website was spot on about the vets focusing on,"What we would do with our own cat," and I heard something very similar several times. I didn't ask, but Dr. Cornwell allayed my fears about my small cat getting spayed. This vet is not afraid to take time with you or discuss the details of their work. I have little doubt they would have given me a tour of the office if I asked. My usually-spastic cat was like putty in their arms! This wonderful vet's prices may be slightly higher than the average vet, but not enough to make me choose a lesser office. A "complete physical exam" was $50 and the vaccines were $22 each. The spaying will be $198.63 + $38.16 because my cat has already had her first heat cycle. If you love your cats, take them to this professional, kind, and quiet office. PS They even called me two days later to make sure my cats were feeling OK after the vaccinations! When I returned to pick up my little spayed kitty, they told me how great she had done and said she hadn't eaten quite so much as they'd like, and had adorably spent much time hiding under a blanket they'd folded in for her to have a hiding spot. Clearly they had monitored her closely and again, will call in a couple of days to check on her. She's home again and acting like nothing at all happened. Again, this vet is GREAT!!! read more

Four years ago, when we moved back to Oregon, we were looking for a vet. Cat Care had such great reviews that we decided to try them out. We were blown away by the compassion, kindness and professionalism of the staff. Two years later, we decided to add a stray to our family. We took him to Cat Care to be assessed. The news wasn't good. He had FIV and was missing some teeth. Despite having a diagnosis that many would write off as a death sentence and recommend euthanasia, Dr. Cornwell reassured us that he could live a long, normal life. She patiently explained the ins and outs of his condition. A little while later, he started developing a skin condition as a result of his illness. Dr. Cornwell continued to work with us to figure out what was causing it and together we came up with a plan for a special diet and medicine. The medicine was expensive, but she called around and found the cheapest place for us to get it. Throughout our ups and downs with our FIV kitty, we could always rely on Cat Care for excellent, prompt attention to his health. Several times, I was unable to be there for his visits due to my schedule, but they allowed me to drop him off for assessment and pick him up afterward. Several weeks ago, our FIV kitty's health took a nosedive. Again, we turned to Cat Care. Dr. Cornwell made time for us, ordered tests to figure out what was wrong with him and patiently made do with the tests that we could afford. They were inconclusive and we couldn't afford the more involved tests, but she wrote up prescriptions to help us keep our kitty comfortable and treat the secondary issues he was dealing with. Last week, we knew the end was near for our kitty and we again turned to Cat Care. Dr. Cornwell and her team gave us prompt attention and compassionately talked with us as we decided to put our kitty down. They explained the whole process to us to it would be less overwhelming. Even though she was booked solid, Dr. Cornwell stayed after hours to see us for our kitty's final visit. When we arrived, they had all of our paperwork ready and arranged payment before the service so that we could leave immediately afterward. Before proceeding, Dr. Cornwell spoke with us and tried to answer any remaining questions we had. Her compassion and empathy was evident as she teared up with us, after all, she'd been with us on the beginning of our journey with our beloved kitty. Before administering the first injection, she advised us exactly what our kitty would be aware of and what he wouldn't be aware of. She gave him the sedative and then left the room, so he would have our scent and our presence as his final memories. She quietly checked in on us and asked if we were ready for the final injection. When the time came, I slipped out because I couldn't handle it. Again, her compassion showed through as she reassured me that my choice was perfectly okay and to not have any guilt. After administering the final injection, she came out and very quietly let me know it was done. She offered me the opportunity to see him one last time, but I couldn't bring myself to go in. Again, there was no guilt or judgment, just compassion and genuine empathy-the same amazing and kind service I've grown to know and expect from Cat Care. Cat Care has earned our business for life. Cat Care Professionals helped us through a very hard time near the end of the life of one of our cats. They clearly cared very deeply about our two cats and offered both professional expertise and emotional consolation as we dealt with the decisions we had to make regarding the suffering of one. Their office is clean, bright, and comfortable, and every member of their staff that we dealt with was polite and caring--and knew our cats' names without asking from the very first visit. As I indicated above, we were very frustrated with the lack of positive answers about the health and happiness of one of our cats, but eventually had to admit that all along we had known that there really wasn't anything we could do. We asked for their recommendation for at-home euthanasia services and were provided two options; that recommendation alone made the worst part of the process a little more bearable. Only once did we not get a prompt response from the clinic, but the fact that the one incident stands out is an indication of how rare it was to get a slip in their very conscientious customer service. read more

I originally found Cat Care Professionals because my cat, Bear, was very freaked out going to a clinic that served both dogs and cats. I looked for a cat only clinic because I thought the calmer environment would be better for him. I was right. Since that first visit, we've taken all our cats to see the folks at Cat Care Professionals, 5 cats in total. When Bear was diagnosed with cancer, the staff was amazing. I really appreciated that when I asked "what would you do if this was your cat", I got an honest answer. It may seem silly, but it meant a lot to me that the tech teared up with us on Bear's last day. When we adopted our next kitty, our first stop was Cat Care Professionals. Once a month or so, I go pick up cat food at the clinic. When I go in the staff is always friendly and professional. I highly recommend this clinic. read more

I have been taking my 3 kitties here since 2016 when I moved to Portland. The staff are so caring and compassionate, and the facility is spotless and so calm. My kitties always calm down once they get in the exam room (the Feliway is a nice touch!) and my boy Zeus even flirts with the staff because he loves visiting! They are very knowledgeable and will take the time to write a detailed email with advice when I'm unsure of something with my cats. I'm so grateful for all that they do. read more

I have taken a couple of my cats here for the past couple of years and the care is very good. The doctors are straightforward and take the time to explain the situation and options with you. The people who work here are compassionate and seem to care about their patients. The care is quite expensive, although they are clear on the costs upfront. If you just need a low cost spay/neuter or other basic service, this may not be the most economical place to take your cats. read more

I began taking my cats to Cat Care Professionals when my currant vet misdiagnosed a problem and my Birman show cat nearly died. Even though I was not, at the time, a client, when I explained the problem they saw him immediately and recommended the appropriate treatment. Now all of my cats see them on a regular basis. I cannot say enough good things about the compassion and level of expertise I see at the clinic. The staff and my cats' vet, Dr Cornwell, make the cats and myself feel comfortable and confident that they are getting the best of care. They are probably a little more expensive than some and are an hour's drive from my home, but well worth both. read more

The boarding facility next door had a client's loose cat in the ceiling when I went in to see about boarding there!!!. the cages were small, and the cats looked miserable. The staff did not seem to know what was going on,either. The B&B is separate from the clinic, but owned by the same Vet, but that does not mean your cat will be looked after by the vet in an emergency. The Vet (Cat care) recommends over vaccinating cats..even my own elderly, indoor only cat!!! And they push spending $$$ on un neccessary tests and shots! I will never be back! read more

By far, the best place I have brought my cat to! I have brought my 11 year old Siamese here since he was a kitten. We have seen Dr. Cornwell the whole time and her and the team are absolutely amazing. I can tell that she genuinely cares about my cat and she treats him like he was her own. The nurses are amazing as well, they call or email to check up on my cat after every visit to ensure everything is ok. My cat is very anxious going to the vet and they do a great job of working with his anxiety and making him feel more relaxed.
