What a true Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky gem. We were there when they opened at noon on Saturday and were grateful we decided not to wait! The inside is small and within a short time there was a wait for a table. I did note that they had an outside "Biergarten" which would add space in warm weather. Now for the food-- utterly fantastic and true to traditional German cuisine. We ordered the pretzels with Düsseldorf mustard. They arrived warm and yummy and the mustard provided a great tangy balance. BTW they are made in house. The pork schnitzel was excellent! They also offer a nice array of German beers on Draft or in cans. Service was efficient and pleasant. Can't wait for my next visit. read more

I've been reading about Tuba Baking Co for a long time and reading reviews and talking with friends about how amazing it is. So why did it take us so long to get here?! As a part-German Cincinnatian, a foodie and a 50+ year vegetarian, everything about Tuba Baking Co. screams to me. I was not disappointed. My husband enjoyed the Cincinnati lentil coney, I had the spaetzle with sauerkraut, cheese, dill and crispy onions and we shared the golden beet salad. Highly recommend! First time trying this, can't believe it took this long! They have the best patio for an outdoor hang with plenty of beer and vegetarian options. I am not a huge fan of German food most likely because I have not had much experience aside from a trip to Berlin and Austria.. but this establishment has good German food. How do I know? Because we went here with one of our friends who is from Germany and he LOVED it here. It reminded him of home :). Anyway, I ordered the Schnitzel (pork) with the cucumber salad and it was tasty! You can tell that everything is made in-house and just fresh. The quality was great. The currywurst was also legit - HUGE portion too. Our friend really loved that they had legit German beer. First, I want to start off by commending one of the staff; I believe that her name was Carly. She was one of the most attentive and pleasant servers we had ever been around. She also took the time to answer our questions; she was very knowledgeable about German foods. It was a great black beer. I wish the temperature were a little lower. However, we'll talk more about that later. My spouse had the dark cider. It was excellent. The perfect amount of sweetness. We start with German cheese and pork schnitzel, with spatzle and asparagus served as our main course. Very delicious. I had the wurst plate with kielbasa and mettwurst, accompanied by a potato salad that wasn't exactly German. Although a tad dry, the sausages were delicious! The only negative thing I could say, and there is really nothing they can do about it, is that the restaurant is very small, and if you have to wait for a table, you need to wait outside, and it gets very cold. Why haven't we come here before? We started with goeta filled pretzel. While not spectacular, it was worthy. I suspect the meat and cheese took away from pretzel. Next time, just the pretzel. We also had a local schwarzbier(?) and cider. The dark beer was excellent. I wish it were a little colder. But more on that a little later. My wife had the cider. It was very good. Just the right level of sweetness. Our entrees were spatzle with asparagus and Germancheese with pork schnitzel. Super tasty. I had a wurst plate with mettwurst and kielbasa, served with a not quite German potato salad. The sausages were a little dry, but tasted great! The place is small, I mean 4 tables small. Alas, it's been super hot outside and the AC could not keep up. I suspect the heat played a big role in my beer getting warm too fast. The service was excellent. We were served by the proprietor who had just the right amount of friendly and service to be attentive without being intrusive. We'll be back in the fall when we can either eat outside in the biergarten or when the inside temperature is more conducive to a meal. read more

The food is authentic made from scratch and the owner is truly care about the authenticity of their food and the way it's prepared it's in their blood. Don't get me wrong, everyone is super kind and helpful but taking 20-30 minutes just to take my order is so frustrating every single time I am there. This place is great! The owner was super welcoming and friendly and the food was outstanding. The inside is small but cozy. There is also a large biergarten on the side of the building that is shaded and has a fan. It was the perfect spot to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. I want to start out by saying I'm not the biggest fan of German food. However, my partner is, and he was drying to try out Tuba. We stopped by for lunch on Saturday and were greeted by "Mrs. Tuba" behind the bar. She was absolutely lovely - she walked us through the menu and gave us some recommendations before we sat outside. The pretzel bites are made with rye and sourdough, so they were more flavorful than your average soft pretzel. They were great, and the beer cheese was an excellent pairing. We also got schnitzel sandwiches, which were HUGE! The potato bun it came on was homemade and tasted great. The fries tasted like fair fries and came with curry ketchup. I saw another reviewer say this place is "small but mighty" and I couldn't agree more. They pack a large punch with great food with what appears to be a small operation. German food is one of my favorites, and being in Cincinnati, I'm surprised it took us this long to find a restaurant that serves some great German food. We visited at the suggestion of my cousin, who said it was exemplary. We arrived around 5:30, and were surprised at the size of the shop (only about 16 chairs), but luckily were able to get a couple seats at the bar right away. Within 30 minutes, the whole restaurant was full, and there was constantly a couple people waiting for a table (this was exacerbated by cold weather, which meant they didn't have outdoor seating available). The whole menu looked very tasty, and we absolutely had to try a pretzel in addition to our entrees. I'm not a big Goetta fan, but my wife wanted to go for the Goettabrezel, which came with cheese. I wanted to try a couple of the sauces they had, so we ordered a side of the spundekas and spicy mustard. For my entree, I couldn't say no to the classic Schnitzel Sandwich. It was made with chicken, coleslaw, and a potato bun. The schnitzel was crispy, flavorful, and juicy. The bun was fluffy, but firm enough to hold the sandwich together. It was absolutely delicious. My wife ordered a flatbread covered in potato, cheese, and speck--can't remember what it was called. It was quite tasty, though a little underseasoned. As for the Goettabrezel, this was probably the best pretzel I've ever had. It was hot, a bit chewy, well-seasoned, and went perfectly with both the mustard and spundekas. Still didn't love the goetta, but the pretzel itself was delicious. We don't usually opt for dessert, but decided to get some on this occasion. I think it was like an apple cranberry cake of some sort, with a cream sauce and little cookies sprinkled on top. It was super tasty. Overall, the food was delicious, the best German food I've had in Cincinnati, and we will definitely be back! read more

This is a very unique restaurant and Bellevue one of the few restaurants in northern Kentucky that really serve German food. They had a special of sauerbraten which I find is very difficult to locate, they do not have it as a writer on the menu. It is a special, but it was excellent looking for the next time that they serve it we ate in the beer garten which was a unique experience the only reason I gave it a four star instead of a five star is it not handicap friendly there are two steps to get into the restaurant with no handrail therefore we did not have a choice. The beer garden was right off of the sidewalk, but I definitely will be going back again to try some of the other items on the menu the staff was very friendly. what I understand. The inside was very small, but very unique and very clean. But like I said, it is not handicap, friendly and I use a walker but as long as the weather is good, the outside dinning is excellent. read more

I've heard and read a lot of great things about Tuba Backing but because of scheduling conflicts I could never seem to have my stars align with theirs. That is, until this last weekend. I absolutely love the people runnning this little gem. The atmosphere is really cozy and unique due to its jewel-box size. I stopped by hear a couple weeks back for a carry out order. The staff were amazing and the food was ready faster than I expected. Even after a 10+ minute drive home the food was incredible. I caught myself thinking about the food days later and couldn't wait to go back for a proper visit. An agonizing week later, my wife and I stopped in for another meal. She ordered the Schnitzel with sauerkraut and I had the Schnitzel sandwich with frites. The frites came with a side of curry catsup that was super tasty. We also shared a pretzel with Düsseldorf mustard sauce. Neither of us typically like mustard so we asked for recommendations and Mrs. Tuba suggested the Düsseldorf and it complimented the pretzel perfectly. The restaurant itself is incredibly small. If you think you don't like German inspired food, it's because you haven't eaten at Tuba! Do yourself a favor and get there. The food was delicious - so very good. The beer and pretzel appetizer is a must. It's so much better than any pretzel I've ever had that it's criminal to call it a pretzel. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Tuba is a gem and I only wish they had more indoor seating because I don't want to eat outside in the courtyard when it's snowing (but I will!). That's how absolutely yummy this place is. read more

Took off a star because this place seems to have grown quickly due to promotion by Cincy IG food bloggers however they're unable to efficiently serve customers. I would suggest a better process to take orders & check people out while serving as well. If this demands holds consider growing into a larger space as well! I also took a star off because the inside is extremely warm as well which isn't pleasant to eat in during the summer. Looking forward to re trying it in the fall. Awesome new addition to Dayton, KY! We stopped in on a Sunday evening for dinner and staffed off with the Kolsch. They have a wide variety of beer options including some German beers in bottles and on draft. The staff was super helpful in helping us navigate the menu and providing us with recommendations. Of course we went with the pretzel-delicious-and my favorite thing was the variety of sauces provided to our with it! For entrees we went with the Spatzle and Flammkuchen. The vegetables in the Spatzle were so fresh and the sauce had a great flavor. I also really enjoyed the Flammkuchen because the wood fired flavor really came through. Friendly staff and great German food. We sat at the bar and had the Seabanatian, their unique take on Cincinnati chili, with a few twists. First, in place of spaghetti is their spelt spetzel. Best pretzels ever! We did a Saturday pickup today and the pretzels were so good that we are already planning a trip next weekend. My family actually devoured the pretzels as soon as we got to the car. I love that there is a great business in this spot on Pike Street and am looking forward to also enjoying more of the German beers they offer. The staff made it easy too - I ordered the pretzels ahead on Thursday afternoon and let them know when we were on our way on Saturday afternoon.
