Second visit here and it's still a wonderful experience! This time we came a bit earlier and enjoyed items on the breakfast menu. Hubby had the breakfast sandwich. The egg was fluffy, focaccia bun was delicious, and the prosciutto cotto balanced it out. My Serrano ham toast was yummy as well! The fresh salsa verde was so good! I had a latte and hubby had a flat white. They use Sister's Coffee Co. beans, and our coffees were beautiful with a smooth taste. Service was personable and efficient. Great experience overall!

Popped in to Allez cafe today! I got the pumpkin chai latte iced and the chocolate espresso cookie. Both were amazing. The chai was not too sweet or artificial tasting it was bomb and I would definitely get it again. The chocolate cookie had big pieces of flaky salt on it and it was obviously delicious. My friend got a slice of their banana bread and it was also great. The staff were friendly and we got everything super quickly!

Casual cafe in a central spot. We had a good experience here. Everyone is super friendly and the food was great. The interior is well decorated and there's a good amount of seating. Great for get-togethers or a solo work session. Would definitely recommend!

I tried the Cubano and the Italian. These two hot sandwiches were the perfect meal on a cool spring afternoon. Allez Cafe has the chill atmosphere everyone looks for in a cafe. The focaccia was light and airy, containing a fine balance of ingredients inside. Stopping by Allez Cafe for a quick lunch might not do it justice. Next time, I'll stay a bit longer and have a coffee too.

Always a line but always moved quick. Everyone who works here always seems like they enjoy their job. The food is so good and the inside is light and airy on a sunny day. And anywhere that serves Hen of the Woods chips gets a thumbs up from me

Artisan bread is a catch 22. By itself, you can really appreciate it. As the bun for a sandwich, it can often be too tough to bite through. Unfortunately, that's the experience that I had at Allez. Fortunately, I ate the Italian sandwich open faced and it was all good. The baguette was even tougher on the Jambone Beurre, but the toppings on the inside were even better. The open faced technique on this sandwich isolated the layer of bread and helped me taste the herby butter that lined it. This hipster-vibed interior and clientele fit the OTR neighborhood. Could be worth a visit if coffee and/or artisan breads are your version of a good time.

Allez cafe is AMAZING! The barista who helped us was so friendly and kind. The pastries and toast we tried were delicious, and the honey oat latte I had was perfect! The space is bright and clean, and smells amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Breakfast sandwich with cheddar scallion biscuit in the background.

First time there and we walked in and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Asked us about our day and weekend and answered any questions we had. Noticed that the staff knew many regulars by name and had easy conversations with everyone. The light and airy atmosphere and smell of coffee made it a great atmosphere for others to work. Ordered and sat and got ourselves some water and munched on a biscuit until our coffee and food arrived. The cheddar scallion biscuit was delicious, and the coffee was good, not too sweet. We ordered the breakfast sandwich and the ricotta and seasonal fruit toast. Both were amazing, but the breakfast sandwich on focaccia was really exceptional. Left feeling full and energized and will definitely be coming back for lunch!

Small French restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. Excellent homemade French bread. My wife and I had the Cuban sandwich and my son had the ham and cheese (Jambon). We also tried the Sausage Hungarian soup. It was all very good. They also have pound cakes for dessert. Only has a few tables or a bar or window ledge. You must order at the register which they didn't tell us.

Stumbled upon this low-key gem after making some holiday purchases at nearby Al's Delicious Popcorn and Macron Bar. Corner location with lots of windows letting in the sun. Low key in terms of atmosphere with a very clean minimalist look and in terms of service. We seated ourselves and waited for a good ten minutes before realizing that menus were not coming with the standard glass of water or an explanation of the menu, or any specials. Finally, I went to the front cashier and saw some simple one-page printouts of the menu and asked how ordering worked. (You order at the bar.) Once we got that sorted, a server brought our iced brewed tea and, later, our soup and sandwiches. Water was in a self-service container with glasses at the bar, which we discovered on our own. Many people were working behind the counter, so it was not a lack of service opportunity to greet us and explain how things work. Instead, I think it must be the low-key vibe. Or maybe we were mistaken for regulars that knew the secret code to ordering! Never-the-less, the food was exceptional! Our meals came out quickly and were artisanally presented. I had the Hungarian Sausage soup, which had wonderful, unique flavors with large chunks of spicy sausage and peppers and a dollop of yoghurt. The Cubano sandwich was uniquely flavorful, with a sweet pickle slice instead of the traditional dill. So good! The bread that came with the soup and the Cubano were both phenomenal. While the menu is very small, you should still be able to find something to try for brunch or lunch. Lots of nearby parking on the street and at the Salvation Army around the corner.

    iced london fog
    Ray B.

I stopped in here to get some breakfast before work, and it was so good! The staff are sincerely nice, and they made the best iced london fog I've ever had. I'm really not exaggerating! It was creamy, with balanced lavender and vanilla flavors alongside the taste of the earl grey, and it wasn't overbrewed so the bergamot came out really well; I was very pleased with it. I additionally got their breakfast sammy, which was also amazing. The egg was light and fluffy, not rubbery at all; the cheese was melty, and the ratio of ham to egg to cheese was perfect. Great bread as well. Really nice light from the big windows. I will be back!

LOVE ALLEZ - you can't go wrong with anything you get. The service is also great- the staff is warm and welcoming! It's a neighborhood gem, a true place where there are regulars. The turkey pesto sandwich is probably the best I've ever had! The Cubano is rich and hot for those who love a hot sandwich. They have rotating specials and even sell their lovely loaves and pastries too. Wish they opened on Sundays to get to go more often! (Also plug they bring back the awesome dinner series - soup + a glass for $17!)

have been here multiple times recently for lunch. the lattes are great, the sandwiches are excellent with fresh made bread, and the staff is always so kind and inviting. the space is bright with high ceilings and has the most stunning quilted piece hanging on the wall by the order counter, overall a very welcome environment to draw you in with the food and drinks to make you keep coming back

But what I remember most of all is the food, particularly ducking into a little shop off a piazza somewhere to grab whatever I could buy and eat while we walked to our next sightseeing destination--a pastry, a slice of pizza, or a sandwich. At Alveo, I almost feel like I'm right back there. The restaurant is small and lively, not a place to linger exactly but a place where you can tell you'll be taken care of. Just as many patrons are ordering to go as they are to stay. And the sandwiches? Good enough to power many, many steps of sightseeing across cobblestones, or just get you through the afternoon at your home or office in Cincinnati. They've absolutely nailed the ingredients on every sandwich I've tried, with high-quality components selected specifically for how they go together. (Like those little sandwich shops in Europe, there are no substitutions here--unless you'd like gluten free bread.) The bread? Unreal how it can hold these constructions together while being soft and delicious. The meats? Perfection. The cheese? Incredible. That pistachio stuff? I see it in my dreams. The one area where Alveo definitely deviates from its European brethren is portion size--these sandwiches are huge! They come in a paper wrapper, inside a to-go box, and believe me, you will probably need it. Each time I've been to Alveo I've ended up eating about half the sandwich for lunch and the rest for dinner, maybe with a snack in between, and felt perfectly satisfied for the day. So, yes, the $20+ price tag might discourage you, but don't let it. It's a $20 investment in a very, very delicious day.

Jordan greeted us with a glass of Prosecco and directed us where to sit a long table that seats 20. We introduced ourselves to our seatmates and then our first dish arrived. Chef does explain the food before we had each dish, however we wished there was more background and history as to how this place came into being. So expect fantastic food without a lot of details. The first dish was a salad made with all local ingredients. It was so fresh and the dressing made with fresh dill was fantastic. The second dish was a ravioli with northern Italian cheese on a bed of butternut squash puree and brown butter. The pasta was SO delicate and the flavors complimented each other so well. The third dish was a 6 hour braised pork shoulder with ricotta gnocchi in a sauce with Calabrian chilis and I don't know what else. We have been to Italy and all the Italian restaurants in Cincinnati and never had anything like this. It was truly phenomenal. Dessert was a apple upside down cake served warm with whipped cream...fantastic. You bring your own wine, and Jordan is on it by never letting your glass get empty, pouring water, and clearing dishes. Service was so great and she is so friendly and accommodating. The cost was a very reasonable $100/pp and SO worth it. There is no menu, so you go in just devouring what Chef has prepared.
