I took my wife to Tucanos in Orem yesterday for her birthday, and even though it was an incredibly busy Valentine's weekend, the experience was solid. The restaurant was packed, but since we made a reservation, we were seated quickly -- and I was glad we did because the wait without one was well over an hour. It was a nice touch that they offered Brazilian lemonade to guests waiting to be seated. We were informed about the holiday price increase due to additional meats being added, but the service made up for it -- the gauchos came around faster than I've ever experienced. The shrimp and teriyaki beef were standouts, the bacon-wrapped steak was flavorful, and my personal favorite was the grilled pineapple, which came around often and was as delicious as ever. This was our first visit to Tucanos. We love Brazilian grills and have been really looking forward to trying this place out. I like the other Brazilian grills/steakhouses out there that have a very calm and quiet atmosphere, Tucanos is very vibrant with the perfect themed music. Not too loud but, definitely a different vibe from the more laid back restaurants out there. Each staff member that we spoke with were extremely friendly, welcoming, helpful and attentive. We really appreciated the server asking what temperature we like our meats which is something we've never been asked or offered before. We went during lunch and the meat selection was fantastic. The flavors were so delicious and met our expectations (some even surpassed). The salad bar was probably one of the best we've seen with a variety of gluten free options which I require. I wish I took a photo of my plate because the colors and food selection were stunning but I was too excited to dig in This was one of our better dining experiences in a while! read more

We came here for a little celebration and this is a normally a favorite of mine and my daughters. This place is normally great. We came in and were super rushed. We were rushed through an experience that you shouldn't be, ever. I didn't feel like a valued customer and my daughter kept getting her plate taken she had to keep getting up and replacing what was taken from the table. We kept getting well done cuts and we asked for medium rare. We didn't get pineapple after we asked a few times, so on. Mind you this was a special dinner for my daughter doing so great in school. The service here is spectacular! They do not let a cup or plate stay empty and they work together like a well oiled machine. It's a beautiful restaurant and is a great place if you have a group to take out. The decor is classy but not pretentious. I can only speak to the vegan options. The grilled pineapple was my favorite. Absolutely mouth watering deliciousness. The salad bar was well stocked and clean with more options than one person could try in a sitting. Food bar was a mess. Pasta bar was empty. The menu was so faded that you could not read it including prices. Cocktail ordering was complicated. I ordered a glass of red wine with an appetizer. It was a measured 4 ounce pour at $12 per glass. I asked to buy a bottle to share with guests that we were waiting for. Was told no because they weren't there yet. I asked for a 2nd glass of wine and requested 6 ounce pour. They said no. Completely frustrated, I paid another $12 for 4 more ounces. The atmosphere was crazy chaotic as it was busy at 4:00pm. Great atmosphere and delicious food. I've been a big fan of Tucanos for years. It's an experience and one that we normally save for special occasions. The buffet is a great way to start. I'm typically a big veggie eater so I load up there first. Then comes the meat! Various skewers every few minutes. The atmosphere is lively and friendly. The only problem is that I always leave stuffed. The grilled pineapple, bacon wrapped turkey and the garlic sirloin are my favorites. I'm also a big fan of the honey glazed chicken and the mango glazed fish. While the meat is the highlight, the buffet is one of the best around. I tried a new spicy chicken in coconut curry over rice today that was phenomenal. You won't regret a visit to Tucanos! Just fast the day before and plan for a nice nap afterwards. read more

I remember coming to Tucanos many years ago and having a pleasant time, but this time was not the case. We were sat right next to the server station (which wasn't an issue because we did not have a reservation), but many of the expediters would skip our table. When they didn't, the meats were way over cooked and it felt like chewing beef jerky. Even when I asked to have more medium rare meats, it would take sometime for them to come back and serve us and many times it would still be overcooked. As with the meats, our drinks were also overlooked and it took forever just to get a refill of ice. With a purchase of the cheese cake and lemonades, I spent $119 plus dollars to go home hungry. If not for one of the food expediters (I wish I would have remembered his name), I would have given this place a 1 star. Save your money and go to Rodizio Grill instead. read more

We went as a couple at 3pm on a Saturday. The meats were all luke warm, and the servers continually started with the largest tables, we were left waiting and watching for much of our visit. We did not get our money's worth and we left disappointed like a few other vocal customers. The meats that we did have were fairly tasty but temperature and crispiness is a key component. I was disappointed that your sweet and spicy chicken thighs are bone in unlike your competitor. You have an absolutely fantastic location, but I would much rather drive the few extra minutes to the Riverwoods to Rodizio where things seem to be better executed consistently. read more

Tucanos is a staple here in Orem. How could you go wrong with lots of amazing cuts of meats? We've been coming here since it first came to Provo and won't ever stop. Amazing is an understatement. As others have noted, the food is very good-- especially if you like tasting various kinds of meat, poultry and fish. I couldn't eat there regularly-- I had more meat in one evening than I typically eat in two weeks-- but it is very good. I have eaten in high-end Brazilian restaurants in Las Vegas and other places while on business. The food in those was a bit more nuanced and the pace slower, but on the other hand you're there for meetings or after-hours socializing and not dining with your family. Tucanos seems a bit more family-oriented, which we like now-- we'll bring our grandkids there next time. A solid hit! read more

You need a reservation to eat here! Highly recommend calling at least a couple days in advance, especially if you're planning on coming on the weekend. We made a reservation for Saturday evening and were seated right away. The decor and tables seemed a little outdated and all they did to accommodate our party of 5 was put two small tables together, making the person who sat in the middle of the two to have an unbalanced surface. They should invest in some tables to seat bigger parties specifically. However, it was fine - just kind of annoying for some in our party who had an uneven plate the whole time we were there. Our server, Omar, was kind and attentive. He brought us our drinks right away as well as silverware and plates for the meat. The salad bar has a lot of great and fresh options. I was pleasantly surprised! Loved the Alfredo, mashed potatoes, and cheese bread the most. The sushi roll wasn't bad and the fried bananas were pretty good as well. I liked the variety of the salad bar. There was a lot we all wanted to try but had to be mindful of all the meat we would be getting! The meats came out fast and hot. The top sirloin was always so tender. I loved the crispy white fish and the mango sauce on top of it as well. The grilled pineapple is incredible! They had some great options and varieties of meats and veggies. We asked Omar for refills and he didn't bring them out so we had to ask him again. Other than that, he was on top of things. The restrooms were kind of dirty and the floor was a little sticky so just be mindful of that. Overall, we all had a great visit and I am looking forward to coming back soon. My first time at Tucanos was at this location with a group of 14 family members. There were great options at the salad bar and the hot food bar. Everybody found food they enjoyed. We kept all the meat coming and I tasted just about everything. At first you don't think you are getting a lot because they slice very thin portions on the sirloin but there is so much to choose from that you will get full. The salmon was a nice treat, didn't expect to see that and it was delicious. The service was great. We had a great waitress who came by as much as we needed her to and the meat options came fast. We enjoyed the whole experience. We have a Tucanos in Boise where I am from and I look forward to going there soon! read more

I went here to take my dad out to eat for his birthday because we were visiting family and it was really good!!! The chicken especially was my dad and I's favorite. It was nice of them to still accommodate us even though I forgot a reservation (). One thing my dad said is he wished the portions were a little bigger and the wait was a little shorter but to be honest I was just fine with that. Everyone was very nice so that was great. The service at Tucanos is really good most of the time. The salad bar is very good. The meat offerings this time were not as good as we have had in prior times- too salty and very overdone and dry on some. But some of the meat was very good too. The pineapple is excellent. They were quite busy when we arrived but they served us promptly. The atmosphere was ok. It was nice and cool inside on such a hot day outside. 4 stars is an appropriate review for Tucanos. I've probably been here 15-20 times throughout my life. I think the salad bar.. ahem, I mean salad FESTIVAL is underrated. I'm certainly a carnivore at heart, so I love the meat. But the salad bar, as the cool kids say, slaps! All the ingredients seem fresh and tasty. I don't think I've ever had a negative experience with said festival. The meat is great, too. I just wish they'd change up their options more often. The food does get old pretty quick. But maybe it's just cause I've been going here my whole life. Overall, I'll keep coming back once or twice a year (birthday redemption, obviously). And that's plenty. read more

After we were done eating, they came with the bill and it was $5.00 more per person. I pointed them to the menu which they acknowledged, but they refused to honor their own posted price. I usually love this place, one of the best buffets around however I was really disappointed when I went for Valentine's Day. I wasn't able to get a reservation till 9:30pm which didn't bother me because I knew being a holiday it would be very busy, but I wasn't informed of the price being $44 instead of the regular $35, when the waitress told us about the special she made it seem like it was an option and not the actual price for the night. Spending over $100 for two for "special" meats we didn't even get to try, and the meat we did get was very disappointing you could tell it was what was left from the busy dinner rush and the servers were just done by that time too. We barely got service and the main girl was too busy playing on her little device to even get us refills for our drinks. And it took her over 20 minutes to bring me my receipt at the end, she only did when she noticed me complaining about her to another waitress. At the end we should have at least got a discount for how unsatisfied we were especially for that kind of price, makes you feel taken advantage of. read more

Don't bother if you don't have a reservation. They do not welcome walk-in guests. Even if they have tables available and there is a snowstorm with most likely cancellations. They will have cancellations/no-shows but will still not consider walk-ins as an optional costumer because they "may have" other reservations show up. ALSO super deceitful!!! Their website has a wait time showing that there is only a "15 min. wait" and to "sign up for a reservation now". Extremely poor customer service at the check-in desk with rejecting guests and they can't even explain why their website communicates differently and just as poorly as they do. Even the manager was a loss for words. Used their bathroom before we left and they had no paper towels. Very disappointing and distasteful to say the least. read more

Really can't go wrong here unless your wallet is light! It was the day before Father's Day and they had a special which was the right option, came with all of the meats, shrimp, salmon and salad bar. Didn't do much with the salad bar except some peel ur own tiny shrimp that I normally avoid but wanted my monies worth. Also had some mozzarella balls. All of the meats were great including chicken and the teriyaki beef, did not care for the salmon. read more

Tucanos has had a large fall from the top where it used to be. The pineapple was was the best part today and that's disappointing when they're charging the prices they are. The food was over cooked, stale, and recooked by the time anything ever got to us. And we spent more time waiting for things to come by than we actually did eating. I don't know if was being on the patio or what but it was a pretty disappointing that the service while pretty friendly was a big miss, food was bland and dry, and overall just a really disappointing visit.
