We ate here on a Saturday evening before a performance of South Pacific at the Lakewood Center For the Performing Arts. There were five of us. Upon arrival I was struck with the decor of the dining area, it was open and interesting, but not really welcoming. It seemed crowded with large chairs and heavy tables. However it was a nice that we were seated at a table large enough for us. We ordered wine and some appetizers; two orders of risotto fritters (essentially balls of risotto rice breaded and deep fried) and a cheese plate. There were s risotto fritters on each order with a small sauce. The sauce is needed, because otherwise the fritters lacked any taste whatsoever. I had two and that was enough for me. The cheese plate was a joke. There were five of us and the appetizers were ordered for everyone. The cheese plate had two pieces of toast and 12 teeny tiny pieces of cheese. We had to ask for more toast, which they brought, but ultimately charged us for it. I opted for the stuffed rigatoni special. The server kept telling us about the sauces with the heirloom tomatoes. He kept talking about the fresh heirloom tomatoes. I think he referred to them at least 20 times. When our meals arrived, I was a little aghast at the quantity. The PLATES were enormous, but the serving size was small. The presentation helped to make the portion look even smaller than it was. I wish dining establishments would stop using dinner plates so big. It seems the more expensive the place the bigger their plates are. I could have used my plate as an umbrella in yesterday's rain! As I took my first bite, I was hoping for something to melt in my mouth and justify the price of the dinner. I was disappointed. The pasta was a mix of over cooked and undercooked giving the dish an uneven palate. Oh, and those heirloom tomatoes, well I couldn't find them anywhere in my sauce because it was so pureed that there was no way to tell if there was heirloom in there or just Safeway hothouse romas. Now, I know this is Lake O and I guess I should have expected to pay three times what I would anywhere else. If you are in Lake O and want to pay too much for too little, this is the place to go. A well put together restaurant. More upscale and very good food. First, let me say, they have the best Lemonade I have ever had. No need to get the mixed drink when the Lemonade makes you feel so good. I had the pizza and it was delicious! For dessert we had chocolate cake and it was awesome! Consistently good food, good service, and a fantastic happy hour. Not a stand out restaurant but we visit often because it has a great atmosphere and its reliable. The wife and I stopped by here for the first time a week ago for a 5:30 dinner reservation. This is a very low key, relaxed vibe Italian style restaurant, which we both tend to prefer after a long work week. My wife ordered the gnocchi dish while I ordered Pappardelle. While I wouldn't call the quality mind blowing, we both thought our dishes were delicious and well prepared. Portions here are sizeable, and we both had left overs to bring home. We also ordered the Calamari as an appetizer, which I thought was just OK. Flavor was fine, but I thought the dish a bit greasy, which detracted a bit from our enjoyment of the dish. Service was pretty good we thought. We didn't have to wait too long for our orders to be taken, for our wine to be opened, or for our orders to arrive. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly. Prices struck me as a bit on the high side for what we ordered, but about what I was expecting given the location of the restaurant (pretty much smack downtown in affluent, expensive Lake Oswego. Frankly, I would likely have just given this restaurant 3 stars and left it at that, were it not for one other factor. Tucci's corkage policy. Not only do they not have a corkage fee, but they're located right across the street from an excellent wine store (Wizer's). As a result, my wife and I were able to enjoy an excellent bottle of 2009 Barolo that would have cost us at least $100 (and probably much more) at any other restaurant, at the wine store's retail cost ($50). So essentially, this restaurant has the best, most well priced "wine list" in the city (Yes, Ringside has a better selection, but you'll pay through the nose for most of the wines they have on offer). In my mind that definitely is worth at least one additional star in my review rating. Given that this restaurant is only a couple miles from our home, it's now become part of our regular rotation on Friday date nights. Just as a reminder... Wizer's is only open Tuesday through Saturday, and they close at 6:30. So don't make your reservation for dinner too late if you plan on dropping by before heading over to dinner at Tucci's. Tucci's does have a wine list, but it's pretty modest and you can do much better over at Wizer's. read more

Ordered takeout for holiday dinner last night and it was amazing! We ordered a variety of pasta dishes with additional meat and seafood and every dish exceeded our expectations. The portions were very generous and all were ready on time and piping hot. We will definitely be back. read more

I met a friend for Happy Hour at Tucci a couple of days ago. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 items from their menu. Calamari and Pizza. The calamari arrived way before the pizza. (We had asked for them to be served at the same time). It was soggy, and almost uneatable, and the aioli sauce tasted rancid. When the pizza arrived it looked as if it came straight out of a freezer bag with 4 slabs of mozzarella cheese half melted, and what tasted like canned tomato sauce slathered over the crust. I have eaten there before, and found the food to be quite tasty, so I dont know what happened to the chef since then. read more

I went here with my parents over the holidays when it snowed in Lake Oswego. There were very few people there and the service was wonderful. I recommend the scallops, delicious and filling. My boyfriend tried the quail and while it was great the portion was a little small, but that would be my only compliant. The wine list is nice as well as the assortment of cocktails. read more

Found the restaurant on open table, decided to give it a try for a special occasion. Made a reservation on line. Showed up on time, they seated us initially near the open kitchen about 10 feet from the wood fired oven which was really hot. I was not clear why they seated us there when the restaurant was pretty empty inside and it was almost 90 degrees today so the patio was full. The host agreed to re-seat us which was much more comfortable across the room from the oven. Tucci is billed as an Italian restaurant but most of their really enticing dishes were more American or Continental. Just a brief commentary. If they wanted to have more of an Italian flare, perhaps adding two or three more pasta dishes such as some sort of a seasonal ingredient lasagna or cannelloni to keep things gourmet. Initially the service was really slow but once we got going, it got better and a little more attentive. I was a little disappointed by the rather weak cocktails as was my wife. We wound up switching to a very nice Chianti. The complimentary appetizer of buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes was great. You could really taste how fresh the ingredients were. The salads that we had for our first course were good, not overwhelmingly good. I had the Cesar which was decent but not quite garlicky enough for my palate. My wife had their house salad and she said it was quite good. We ordered a New York steak and pan roasted Halibut for our entrees. The steak was perfect as was the Halibut. However, the halibut fillet was very skimpy, considering that the entree was 25 dollars. I would estimate that it was maybe 4 ounces or so. That would be my only critical observation on things that the restaurant could control. Dessert was quite good. Another Yelper recommended the chocolate polenta cake and it was really good. We shared it and thought that this place would be worth returning to at some point in the future. As far as uncontrollable things were concerned, there was a really cute baby wearing an Oregon outfit, that was annoying and at least he was cute. One cannot help who ones parents are. read more

He was sour, inattentive, standoffish and very unwelcoming. Never smiled, didn't talk to us at all, and didn't make us feel appreciated or welcome. I'm visiting from CA but my aunt lives here. I am so surprised at the response that I just received from the host at Tucci. I tried to make a reservation to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday but was told that they cannot accommodate a party of 8 (and I was making the reservation 3 weeks in advance). I understand that the restaurant has many booths for smaller parties but they also have tables that can be reorganized in the main dining room. So much for customer service! read more

I took my husband here last night for dinner, he had not yet been. We both had a wonderful time, great waitress and excellent food. I ordered the sazerac cocktail (well, two actually), it was delicious! We shared calamari and the hot cheese plate - both were done perfectly and the cheese plate came with a tasty fog jam which complimented the Gorgonzola in the meaty cheese mix. For dinner my husband had the linguini Alfredo which was perfectly seasoned and not at all over cheesy. I had the wild boar pappardelle with the addition of some calibrian chilies- this was the best boar pappardelle I have ever had. The flavor was complex, ranging from slightly sweet to tangy. We had enough left over for a meal again tonight. I highly recommend. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is quality and I like that the cocktails are a little on the strong side. read more

I went years ago and was disappointed because the fettucini had jalepeno in it that was never mentioned in the description, but decided to try it again. Glad I did! Really nice happy hour with some interesting choices and not just the standard HH grub. Wait staff was accomodating and helpfu. Now I'm excited to go back for dinner one night soon! read more

We've visited Tucci over the years and we've found the ambiance, service and food to be very consistent. The level of performance is: AVERAGE. Example: we order a bottle of white wine, the correct bottle is served at ROOM temperature. Appetizers included beet salad and risotto fritters. Salad was soggy and fritters were dry. Entrees were shrimp scampi and ragu pasta. Both were good with adequate portion size. Be forewarned that this establishment is one of the few Italian restaurants that does not provide complementary bread with your entree. Too bad as what they charge for menu items could easily cover the expense. Nicoletta's Table, Ricardo's and Bugatti's (West Linn) are better options for those seeking Italian cuisine in Lake Oswego. read more

This place always impresses me. A fancy atmosphere with out any stuffiness. Really great service and the food is amazing. Full bar, great wine list and no corkage fees. Summertime has outdoor seating. Not really a place for young kids. I love this place for date night or dinner with the whole family. read more

After complaining to the manager about the poor service and the lack of Proper sanitation during covid As far as social distancing the tables, and just wiping the tables off with bleach water.. I believe that's a regular practice in most restaurants. Not spraying the tables down or anything else just using a wet rag.The owner told me if I didn't like it to get the fuck out. I cannot believe this would happen in any establishment during the crisis that were all living. read more

Went a few months ago and had a wonderful experience. The Scaloppine di Vitello (veal) was unreal and it might have been one of my favorite dishes of all time. One thing I must admit is that I had a bunch of cocktails prior and also someone else picked up the tab (those two variables might make any meal a lot better). I'm surprised that Yelp says "Good for Kids: NO". No, Tucci does not boast a children's menu, but when you look at your waiter and say "Hey, do you think you can make something simple and fabulous for the little blondie right there?" And the waiter says looks at your child and says "Miss, what would you like the chef to make for you?", I would say that I'm happy to take my (very well behaved) children to this neighborhood gem. With that said, out came the most beautiful, crispy grilled cheese dinner and sides, that I was tempted to reach over and snatch a bite. If you have little ones under 5, it's iffy, but if you have well taught "restaurant" children, it's great place for their budding palates. Working in the Pearl district, close to a plethora of great restaurants, I rate Tucci an overall good Trattoria in the Portland/Lake O area that beats out some popular NW Portland restaurants. The food is excellent, the service is good, and it boasts a small feel in a large space. It's not cheap (pricing between $19-$30 a plate), but one of the things I noticed in my last dining experience with 6 people...there were NO left overs, and everyone had to have a bite of what the other had ordered. read more

Had their seafood pasta...I'm forgetting the name as take-out when family was in town. Definitely a special occasion place, but so, so good. We're looking forward to dining in at some point. Service was fabulous, decor was stylish and fun. I had great hopes. But the food - meh. Lacking flavor. I had the roast chicken which was prepared well juicy etc but flavorless. The polenta cakes tasted like cooking fuel. Marinated olives were also barely flavored and served cold like from a fridge in a simple brine. I was expecting them served warmed and saucy with flavor. "Happy Hour" is really, really an extremely SAD hour! We had the pleasure of being invited to the pre-opening dinner so one could say we have been long time customers. We enjoyed have happy hour hors d'ouevres and cocktails while chatting with bartenders John, Brian, Emily, Jared and Nick. (This in chronological order somewhat.) The preparations by Pascal and Roberto were melt in your mouth - the lobster risotto was wonderful. Lunches were fresh and tasty. I am sorry to say we will no longer frequent Tucci after the exquisitely bad food and poor service Thursday night. Happy Hour was really very sad. Shall we start with the cocktails? We ordered well - I a vodka tonic, my husband a bourbon with a soda splash. $6 each - and the well is Monoplova and Early Times respectively. The beverages were served in 6 ounce rocks glasses. The liquors cost $9.95 to $14.95 a fifth depending on sales prices for a fifth. The math is simple. (I worked in a liquor store for over five years and I know the prices.) When they first opened the well vodka was Stoli - what an unfortunate change from then. And should you decide to order a $12 martini for inferior brands of gin (or vodka) at least the gorgonzola olives are good. You can make them at home for a ton less money. And, the drinks were really weak. Let us move on to the hors d'oevures. We ordered calamari, crab bruschetta, steak skewers and the margarheti pizza. Calamari - very soggy, needed at least another minute in the fryer, mostly icky tentacles, very few yummy rings. All soggy. Crab bruschetta - no seasoning whatsoever. This used to be my favourite but now is nothing to even mention. Steak skewers - old, mushy meat. No seasoning, the sauce was without any flavor. The red onions were so strong they made eyes water and mouths on fire. The last two dishes required salt to even give them some semblance of edible. The pizza was ok ... but I do believe our pizza was delivered to the wrong table as we waited at least 20 minutes to have ours and it usually takes about seven minutes. The service. Oh my. The place was busy and seemed under-staffed at least in the bar. There was only one bartender who was trying to fill orders like the Mad Hatter. He was working both sides of the bar as well as filling restaurant orders. I also noticed there is a "fill line" strip at the bar for wine pours. The pours looked really wimpy - maybe two ounces, barely a nice, healthy swallow to accompany a meal. All I can say is this seems to have become a rip-off where the owners are more concerned about making a profit than keeping old, loyal customers. Maybe they do not care ... oh, I guess not as the hostess was chewing her fingernails and cracking her neck at the hostess station. Ugh! My final note, we used to be greeted by the son of the owners and last night he acted as though we had never been in before. I will be going back to Riccardo's ... where they respect their customers and where they honour the Passport Card if you have one. I will miss the good old days at Tucci ... but perhaps all good things come to a close at some point ... we had a hunch the TV in the bar was not a great idea but i guess they fashion themselves an upscale sports bar now. I would also like to say I contacted Tucci via their website with these comments and I guess customers are so low on the totem pole they do not deserve a reply. C'est la vie. read more

The food is good, but your policy of auto gratuity of 18% at 5 or more people per table is abusrd, especially when the service is mediocre at best. The restaurant was maybe 1/3 full and we had to ask for drink and water refills as did the table behind us. Your automatic gratuity policy is doing nothing but reinforcing your poor service. Please pay close attention to the bad reviews, this is one instance where you will be sorry if you don't. The food had NO flavour, none at all. How difficult is it to make spaghetti? You're better off eating at the Olive Garden or Spaghetti Factory. Both places are sub par yet Tucci fails on every level. The server wasn't terrible, yet she was in a hurry to always leave when we had questions. The restaurant was not busy, yet our food took a ridiculous amount of time to reach our table. For the prices they charge, and meals consisting of no flavour at all, you'd think they'd attempt to make up for it somehow; yet once again they leave you with TINY portion size. We wanted to enjoy this place, but would not think about going back. Way over priced for terrible, inedible food. Try Riccardo's in Lake Oswego, heard they are good. Huge disappointment. read more

Tucci serves poor quality food that is badly prepared, indifferently served, and is very, very expensive for what it is. The ambiance is dull and brown. Tables near the kitchen are very noisy. If you want Italian, save yourself the aggravation and head to the Olive Garden. You'll get the better food for a lot less money. read more

This place was pretty terrible, and has ended my foray into Lake Oswego dining. I will go to Portland to eat out. I got a caesar salad, which tasted like it had been dressed in yellow mustard. The chef kindly left the stalks of romaine whole, so that I could cut my own salad to my liking. He left the cheese and croutons to the side, and I'm sure that's quite artsy on some level, but really, in this construction, or lack thereof, he only spared me the trouble of going to the grocery store. And charged me a good deal for it. I tried it. I didn't like it. I notified my server. My server said "what a shame" and walked away. Server 101: if a patron dislikes a dish, remove it immediately from the table, if not the bill. This server did neither. Unacceptable. I will not be returning. Further, I watched the chef making a pizza, and he sprinkled - no joke -a fistful of salt onto the hot cheese topping it. It must have tasted awful. Also, small scale nuisance: the tables appear really cluttered. The junk they put on there takes up the whole tabletop. I actually thought all the tables were dirtied by customers and left that way when I first walked in. read more

I came here with 2 other friends, one of them is an Italian guy visiting Portland. And me and my friend have been to Italy and experienced Italian real cuisine first hand. My friends had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, from what they heard, this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant which serves authentic Italian food. We wanted to try their pizza to start. After we placed the order, it took for ever, I am not exaggerating when I say about a hour, before we could get our food. The crust was burnt, and there was barely any topping, no mozzarella cheese, no tomato, just some condensed tomato paste ,it was like eating a piece of old dry bread. Beside that, there was lots of oregano in tomato paste they had put on top, and it should be basil, in Italy they only use basil on a pizza. When asking the waitress told us they use canola oil on the pizza, rather than olive oil. We did not eat the rest of the pizza, we ordered an hamburger, it was burnt, and it tasted nothing. read more

Excellent staff. So friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is pretty nice and well decorated. The bruschetta was incredibly delicious. We ordered the wild boar pappardelle and also the carbonara. Having lived in Italy for a long time, we understand it will never be the same catering to American pallets. Italian cuisine in Italy is way more simplified as they really focus on bringing out the natural flavors of dishes rather than over complicating them with sauces. However it must be said that the carbonara could have been better without the heavy bacon grease. The wild boar pappardelle was more of a stew/sauce with a few pappardelle noodles sprinkled in. Usually a wild boar sauce is made more like a ragù complimenting the pasta. There were capers and other ingredients that just crowded the dish and it was over salted. I could only eat a few bites. I'm sure other things on the menu are delicious though. Definitely worth a try! read more

We arrived without reservations on a Saturday night and we were promptly seated in one of the few remaining tables; however, I'd recommend reservations and I will attend to that detail on subsequent visits. The seafood on the menu was temptingly described, and our server was helpful in providing additional insights on menu items. I ordered and enjoyed ravioli. My wife ordered the chicken marinated in balsamic vinegar with Yukon potatoes and mushrooms with sauteed kale. The chicken was deliciously prepared, and there was no intrusive, residual taste of the vinegar. My ravioli was delightfully prepared. The food was tasty and well presented. Service was professional and attentive. We enjoyed our dining experience and the atmosphere at Tucci's, and we look forward to our next visit. I certainly recommend Tucci's to others. read more

Went there for a 50th birthday party and the food, service and atmosphere were nice but then they bill came and the bowl of penne w/ ragu was $35? Not family sized or anything, just a bowl of pasta with meat sauce. Unreal. That wasn't even the price listed on the menu so not sure how they came up with that amount. No wonder the place was more than half empty on a Wednesday night at 7pm. I've eaten at a ton of high end restaurants and the food did not match the bill. Have to say it wasn't bad at all. Friendly and attentive staff and very nice ambiance and decor. We had a very nice evening, good food, all in all a solid performance and the best part of all, not a bit of over cooked pasta drowning in ragu sauce with 3 inches of broiled cheese blend on top to disguise sub standard kitchen skills like so many other "Italian" restaurants. We had scallops, mussels, and a fillet of steak served with excellent freshly cut - made in house - french fries. I would recommend Tucci and I would go there again. read more

I'm still thinking about my experience at Tucci days later. There was nothing redeeming about this restaurant. The food was not tasty. The mussels were barely cooked through. The risotto was so overpowered by Gorgonzola and the Arabiatta was at best a plain marinara. The prices are exorbitant for the quality and the amount of food you get. The service was dismal, too, and the place was almost empty. I foresee a very bleak (and deserved) future for Tucci. read more
