We had a great experience at Manns on the Lake and will definitely be back. The restaurant is beautiful, and the lake views are every bit as stunning as everyone says. If you're looking for a spot with a great atmosphere, this is it. We had a 6:00 p.m. reservation on a Thursday, and although the restaurant was fairly busy, we were seated right on time. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, incredibly quick, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He made some excellent recommendations, and everything he suggested was spot on. The drinks were well made, the food came out hot and fresh, and the timing of everything was excellent. The Mr and I had one night in Portland and didn't want to leave town without some seafood. A quick search on Open Table showed that Mann's On the Lake had availability and a peek at the menu showed some seafood options. While we couldn't get a seat on the patio (it was packed), we were able to get a table by the open glass doors giving us a somewhat distant lake view. Our server hooked us up with water and after our request, brought us some ice. We'd been out and about all day and was feeling dehydrated hence why we chose not to order anything from the bar. Off the appetizer menu we ordered onion rings and crab cakes and from the entree menu we chose scallops and salmon. Our intention was to share everything, which we did. The Mr. couldn't get enough of the onion rings with the BBQ dipping sauce. I liked them too, but preferred the dill sauce. The scallops were tasty and prepared pretty well although I prefer a heavier sear. The salmon was good, but I found the corn succotash to be slightly sweet. However the Mr. disagreed. He enjoyed the combination. Our biggest disappointment of the night were the crab cakes. Not sure if it was the filler or the sauce, but neither of us cared for it. They didn't taste good enough to finish, so I left half of mine We decided to skip dessert. Parking was a little tricky, but luckily we were there on a Sunday evening, so we were able to use the underground garage next door. Th restaurant is stylish, of course the lake front view is top tier. It's very aesthetically pleasing on a summer day. I went for happy hour. I ordered a couple things off the menu. I had the tomato burrata salad, the Caesar salad, and the steak skewers. None of them were remarkable. It was just okay food. The Caesar was kind of bare, didn't really have any dressing on it. The tomato burrata salad was simple and kind of hard to mess up. The steak skewers were fine, the meat was good, but again boring. I had three glasses of wine and that probably why I had such a great time. It's for the vibes in summer time that make this place great. I did receive really good service. The servers were very helpful and kind which I wasn't expecting to be honest. I was pleasantly surprised. I would go back just for the ambiance itself and for happy hour. This was my first time here and the lake view was truly the best part on a beautiful sunny day. I came with a group to celebrate a friend's birthday during Happy Hour (3-6pm even on weekends!) Parking was a little tricky - there were street parking on the side and a city parking lot across the street. Checking in was easy with our reservation. The hostesses were efficient but not overly friendly (not in a bad way) The deck was absolutely awesome with a stunning view of the lake. They also had fire pits and different seating options inside and outside. Our waitress was lovely and attentive and made sure our group were taken care of with yummy drinks and food, and singing for the birthday girl. The drinks were delicious including my mocktail. The girls in my group really enjoyed the margaritas. The Happy Hour menu had many filling options from fries, clams, salads, crab cakes, chicken sandwiches to steak skewers. We for a couple things to share which worked out great. The fries were fresh and crispy and all the food were flavorful and cooked well. They seemed to be very family (and dog) friendly even if the whole restaurant felt more upscale. This place would be perfect for dates, catch ups, and even family brunches. I was hoping that my friend would help me eat them, but she didn't. We both had the house-made ginger ale. The Brussels were brought out, and they were not quite what I expected. They were halved and sauteed. I was thinking fried. The server must have heard me saying this because she came over and told me she could have them fried. I thought the leaves would have been cut and then fried, but they just fried them halved. The salad was good, but it was way too much for me to eat. The ginger ale was also good. Stopped in for happy hour with a friend. We were seated in the bar and wished it wasn't January so we could enjoy the scenic lake patio outside. Service was really great- everyone was friendly and attentive. Our waitress was warm, funny and personable. Ambiance is nice and clean, probably not a place I would bring my kids (unless sitting outside on the patio in the warmer months). Menu- Great selection of drink and food options. I had a hard time deciding on what to even order since there were lots of yummy dishes. I ordered the steak skewers and fries which were fantastic. Only downside is the parking- you either need to park across the street by Whole Foods Market 365 or street parking down the road. We went there for a happy hour with our pup. The outdoor patio by the lake was beautiful even on a cloudy day. They have a fire pit on the table which was really helpful in colder days. We came here to see a jazz show, and were blown away by how great a place Mann's is! This is an upscale, swanky establishment with a very modern vibe and welcoming atmosphere. All staff were remarkably friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. We ordered several items from the happy hour menu, and they were ALL outstanding! There was not a single blemish on any produce, and the plating was beautiful and very appealing. The clam chowder was particularly noteworthy, AMAZING depth and complexity of flavor, with a fresh "greens" oil drizzled over the top. I can't wait to return for this alone. The burger was also far better than I'd ever have expected...BIG, juicy, flavorful, and cooked and seasoned to perfection. I was at first alarmed by the thick slab of tomato, but it was thoughtfully and experty grilled, providing a superb flavor and nice texture. This is an AMAZING burger! Steak bites were also just great! I appreciated the huge potion of fries it comes with, which was plenty for both of us and as a side for the a-la-carte burger. What impressed me the most was the incredible speed at which the food was bright to us after we ordered (which we did a few times before happy hour finished). Service here is FAST, amazingly fast! The only downside is parking...it's a challenge. Street parking (well away from the establishment) is the primary option, but the business next door permits parking after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. Musicians perform in the bar at the front of the establishment, which has no lake view, in case you were hoping to indulge in both at the same time. We would have appreciated a few more shareable appetizers beyond $10 bread. The entrees were delicious and nice portions. The service was attentive and friendly. The biggest detractor was the noise. The crab cake, probably my favorite of all was absolutely f***ing delicious! I'm sitting here right now debating on if I should get another. The first time we dined at 4PM, we were sat on the only table with no umbrella. 1 hour and 3 servers later, they finally figured out how to move the umbrella to our table. The second visit at 8PM, we sat for 45m only to find out the server never fired our order.... They close at 9. Beer was served on a warm glass and my iced tea was finally refilled after 45m. Serious shout out to our server who managed ~12 of us with efficiency and humor! I would call the happy hour prices only "glad" as fries, though bountiful, are still 8 dollars. I have to admit, after seeing some the less-than-stellar reviews of Mann's On The Lake, my wife and I were a bit hesitant to dine at the restaurant. Sure, there were plenty of five star reviews... But there were also a good number of one and two star reviews, which had us wondering what we'd be getting ourselves into. Well, what we got ourselves into was without a doubt the best dining experiences we've ever had in Lake Oswego. Everything about our meal - from the drinks (get the homemade ginger ale) to the main courses - was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. And it's worth giving a shout out to our server, Andrew, who was professional and attentive and conversational. A good dude, and a great waiter. But, back to the food... Absolutely top notch. Get the patatas braves appetizer. As good (and possibly better) than the patatas bravas I've had in Barcelona. And the green goddess salad, served with butter leaf lettuce, radishes, and tomatoes? Perfect. And oh-sweet-baby-Jesus, the pan-seared salmon was incredible. Served atop grilled corn, and expertly cooked. Perhaps the coffee with our dessert could have been just a little bit hotter - just a smidge more - but this was a complete and total five star dinner. We watched our waitress (the redhead) go over to all her other tables multiple times and check in with them, meanwhile she never looked our way. Every single time we needed something we had to get her attention. She wouldn't even look us in the eyes when we would talk to her, but had no trouble doing that with her table next to us AND checking in on them. At one point she was about to stop to check in and literally walked away to then help another group. Normally I wouldn't mention this but I'm in a lesbian couple, really made me wonder if that was the problem for her. The food is nothing special. My Asian salad was good and thankfully not drowned in dressing. My friend had a salad with salmon. The salad was overdressed and the greens limp and inedible. We waited for over 15 minutes without being acknowledged or helped while every other customer around us was being taken care of and attended to. I completely understand that businesses can get busy, but customer service should still include acknowledging and checking in with all customers, not just some. It was frustrating to sit there feeling ignored while others continued to receive assistance. A simple greeting or update would have gone a long way. This experience was upsetting and made us feel completely overlooked as customers. Due to this incident and the lack of service we received, we will not be returning.
