I've gone here many times on my trip in Shelter Island. The sundaes are delicious! If I could live off of just sundaes from Tuck Shop I would. Lots of flavors available and each one looks delicious. It is a small area but seating is relatively good for what room they have. The workers are very kind and helpful. You can also get quarts or pints of the ice cream or get ice cream sandwiches. You can even hire the Tuck Truck for events which seems great!

Pretty good ice cream, but they don't keep their Google Maps hours up to date leading customers to never know if they're actually open or not. Google says open "everyday from 11am-11pm", but that never seems to be the case. Long and frustrating moving day finished at about 10:15pm, and the whole family was happy Tuck's was still open (according to Google), just for the door to be locked, lights still on, even the cashier at the register to tell us, through the door, that they're closed. Seems like a pretty easy fix to avoid letting down potential / returning customers. Funny that they update their hours on Yelp, but not Google Maps. Place could use some repairs in terms of ambiance. Nothing crazy, but even some fresh paint would do the job. Attention to detail seems to be the biggest shortcoming for Tuck Shop

Its open on july 10, 2020. I got 2scoops of ice cream(vanilla and pistachio) and a shake(something coffee flavor, espresso chip?forgot the name). Ice cream and shake were very delicious and employees were very nice. I could try some flavors. Theres plenty of seats outside.

Way too many holes where the actual holes were misshapen or had odd lips on them. But the real ridiculous penny pinching was the drinks and ice cream. No sharing (+$3 for another spoon...come on), can't pour a drink into a cup unless it's outside (asking for cups to split a Gatorade between my kids and apparently wasn't trusted enough to pour liquid into two cups inside), no water fountain......I'll stop. No I won't. The laughable part was charging $8 for an iced coffee and getting the sheer amount of ice that was in the cup in the picture. There were 4 sips of actual beverage in this cup. The picture was taken after it was finished and the ice had a couple minutes to melt. Small businesses have been through it recently. I get it. That's no excuse. Be transparent. There were simply too many things wrong about this place operating in season, I felt the need to write this review. I sincerely hope they right the ship and make it a true destination. Everything leading up to going to the island and having fun with the kids was great. Fingers crossed.

The chicken was juicy and tender while the fried flakes were light and crunchy but without the greasy taste or texture. The greens were also delicious and there was a light sauce helping to top it all off. I got a glass of Sancerre and it mixed perfectly. The ambiance in the back, smaller room was cute and not as noisy but still charming.

It was a rainy evening and the restaurant was understandably overwhelmed after having to move outdoor diners inside. I was happy to wait for my reservation and understood that the staff was dealing with circumstances beyond their control. Some of what followed, however, was harder to excuse. At the bar, service was abrupt, and while preparing my non-alcoholic drink I watched the bartender pour an ingredient in a way that caused the liquid to run across his finger and into my glass. Once seated, my server repeatedly approached the table carrying dirty dishes--including when initially taking our order--which felt particularly out of place at a restaurant of this caliber. The most uncomfortable part came at dessert. I mistakenly ordered the wrong dessert and immediately acknowledged that the mistake was mine. When it arrived, I apologized and asked if I could instead have the sticky toffee pudding I'd enjoyed on my previous visit. My server offered to wrap the first dessert, and when I declined, she pointed out that it would otherwise go to waste. At no point did she tell me that I would still be charged for both desserts. Had she done so, I simply would have kept the original dessert and made the best of my mistake. When the check arrived, both desserts were charged. I politely asked about removing the dessert I had sent back. What followed was surprisingly confrontational. My server told me that someone had to pay for it, repeatedly emphasized that she was going to comp it despite disagreeing with my expectation, and ultimately told me that removing the dessert would come out of her paycheck. Whatever the restaurant's policy may be, putting a guest in the position of feeling personally responsible for a server's paycheck over a dessert was extraordinarily uncomfortable and unlike anything I've experienced at a restaurant at this level. I had genuinely enjoyed this restaurant before and returned because of that first experience. I can overlook a hectic night caused by unexpected rain. What is much harder to overlook is poor sanitation and making a returning guest feel guilty and embarrassed over a simple dessert misunderstanding that could have been resolved with one sentence before the first dessert was removed. Unfortunately, what had been a restaurant I was excited to revisit is now one I'm unlikely to return to.
