WELL THEY DID IT AGAIN. We bought our car new in 2002 and have been going to Tuffy's in Appleton ever since the manufacturers warranty ended and they have always done an excellent job repairing out Toyota and this last time a few days was no exception. We have always kept up on the recommended scheduled servicing. This past week I had it in for the standard oil change and Matt (the Manager) noticed that It was over due for new plugs so I had them a new set in a couple of days later. What could be improved is the scheduling website that doesn't confirm when you schedule the time/day of service, and no one answered the phone. I went to Bergstrom for their $99 special, & added a tire rotation for a few dollars too. read more

I needed brake work done urgently as I was leaving town the next day. Tuffy was recommended to me by someone who has lived in the area for years. I was not disappointed!! I called and spoke with owner Matt at 8am on a Monday morning. He went above and beyond to help me. I took my car to the Tuffys Appleton on College ave by 1030 and I was presented with a loaner car. Matt was able to work it in between appointments and my car was ready to pick up by 2pm. Matt was so very professional and the quality of service outstanding! For those who wait for their vehicles, the waiting area was very comfortable with couches, complete with fresh coffee and toys for kids. Everything was extremely clean, especially the restroom which also had a baby changing station!!! I would happily recommend this business to anyone who needs quality at reasonable prices. I took my vehicle into tuffys for a small oil leak . I was told the oil pan needed replacing. $1800.00 and two pto's (paid time off)the small leaked turned into a huge leak . couldn't go anywhere without leaving a quart of oil behind. I had to go to one of their competitors, tires plus to get the job done right,and it was cheaper. now they post and say im confused and I've never been to their shop.. thats b.s. both matt and scott have given me a ride home. I've been in that shop over a dozen times. they want to fake ignorance but I have the receipt to prove it. so continue with ur dog and pony show. I gave you guys to rectify the situation and it wasn't addressed, hence the two missed days of work. they're running a scam . they tell they're customers that parts need to be replaced in their vehicles and don't do their job. I wouldn't be writing this review if it weren't true.. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!! I went to Tuffy to get a tire rotation. No one at the front desk; I could hear two people in the back office (one on the phone). I waited 10 minutes for someone to come out to help me, but no one showed. I was not quiet, but there's no bell to get service. One guy finally walked out to the work bays, but without bothering to see about the customer (me) at the front desk. I gave up and left once it was obvious I wasn't going to be helped. read more

Don't trust them. They tried to take advantage of me and replace my whole brake system for $2,000 when I only needed one brake line replaced. I went to Grishaber and they fixed it for $300. Screw Tuffy Tire! Scumbag. read more

I been reading reviews and every negative review they get they turn around and make excuses for every thing. Very unprofessional to do that. My mom took her van here and and needed a simple oil change.they end up charging her way more for oil change and talked to her like she was stupid. They profile women and it's sick. I recommend looking for people who work on cars outside of places like these were they think they can take advantage of older woman. read more

I called them yesterday and explained that I had a flat tire and was using the tiny spare, and was concerned about the safety of it. I explained that the vehicle was a 2008 Subaru and massive miles and a ton of things wrong with it, and that I had no intention of keeping it very long or investing thousands in it. The person did start right off telling me that "it probably needs all 4 tires" - which should have tipped me off - because he never asked how old the tires were. Or anything else. And I told him as plainly as possible - first things first, I need this ONE TIRE replaced, I will buy a new one from you and pay you to mount it. THEN we can see what else I might want done. Sure enough... I get there, and the "it'll only take an hour" turned into 2.5 hours later and they hadn't even LOOKED at it. They called me and declared that I MUST do ALL FOUR TIRES, they REFUSED to do the ONE tire - just to make the car safe. I should have done my search first. I'm not the first one they've done that to. Unfortunately for them, I'm "that guy" - and have sent a letter to the Wisconsin Office of the Attorney General to report the fraudulent business practice. And even more unfortunately for them, I make my living creating software and web content for the internet. So I will be making DAMN sure that Google searches show the web-page I'm creating to warn future victims. This "thing" that businesses do that has become so commonplace - f**k the customer - it's gotta stop. And the only way they will listen, is when it affects their bank account. I encourage anyone who has had problems like this to do the same, even if you can't create your own web-sites like me, take to Facebook and every other outlet. I called ahead and brought my car in for what I thought was a moderate problem. Turns out my car needed major repair. Meng was extremely helpful and patient in explaining what exactly needed immediate repair and also provided me an estimate. Matt was a huge help in providing me with financing options. Staff members were courteous, detailed, and flexible in communicating with me around my busy work schedule. My '03 Camry rides like a new car now. So I had my wife go in to have the brakes changed. She was then told that the tires didn't look the greatest and needed replacements (which they did). We had the brakes changed but we didn't really have money for new tires so we didn't get them changed. Come to fine out two days later after the car was ridding like shit that the tires were filled out to 91psi.... the car only gets 35psi normally which I check on a weakly basis. When I went to ask why they filled the tires to 91psi, they denied the whole thing. Neat less to say we will not be going back and from reading other reviews it sounds like "instances" like this mainly happen to women so if you're a women stay away from this shady establishment. read more

Back in May of this year we had a complete front and rear brake job done on our 2002 Toyota Sienna van....I was more than a little surprised at the cost, well over $1000 but we went ahead and had the work done. On Friday night, 7/19/19, we had a major failure on our front driver side brake system, loud grinding, terrible noise. We work overnights using the van as a delivery vehicle and did not finish our deliveries until 9:30 Saturday morning, the van got worse and worse the whole night through. Since I knew that Tuffy's was open until 4pm on Saturdays and since I had been driving for over 10 hours I laid down for a nap. I awoke around 12:30pm got ready and called Tuffy's around 1pm to get the van looked at because I believed it was under warranty. There was no answer when I called...I assumed they had closed (correctly) because of the storm we had that morning. Needing to get the van fixed I called around until I found a repair shop open and took it there. I was told that the caliper had failed, driving the brake pad into the rotor, basically destroying the entire brake. I was advised not to drive it. I tired Tuffy's again and got no answer even though it was still during business hours and no message that they were closed early. Because we needed the van that night we went ahead and got it repaired at our own cost. On Monday I contacted Matt at Tuffy's, explained the situation, and he reluctantly agreed to try to work with us. I told him I understood he probably couldn't cover the labor I paid but would like the price of the parts re-imbursed. He promised to get back to me later that day...he did not. I called him back on Tuesday and he again reluctantly agreed to do something. He asked that I go and pick up the parts, pay the core charge on them, and bring them back to him and he would figure something out. He called me back late Tuesday and told me he would cover the cost of the parts, $220. I asked if I could pick the check up the next morning and he said yes. Wednesday morning I arrived to pick the check up...no check and no Matt. I asked his employee at the counter to please have Matt call me...that did not happen. After lunch on Wednesday I returned again and again no Matt and no check. I again asked his employee to get a hold of Matt and have him call me, I was getting the feeling I was getting the run around. The employee refused to have Matt call me, stating I needed to call him...this angered me more than a little and I insisted that he get ahold of Matt because I was coming back at 4pm and if there was no check, there would be a problem. Matt called me shortly after and left me a voicemail. He said that he told me this morning he didn't have any checks....not sure how he told me that since he wasn't there when I was in and I had no calls from him. He then read me the riot act about getting angry with his employee, told me he had no check, only had $200 cash and I could come and get it. So I drove back there for the 3rd time that day...and when I got in he came from around the counter, angry look in his face, said he was recinding his offer because I "scared" his employee. He again said he told me this morning he had no checks (again I find that strange since he wasn't there either prior time I was in). I told him I would see him in court and he told me to get out. I feel like I was scammed on the original brake job, was definitely lied to this week and am going to file in court for the original cost of the brake job (since there is no way for me to have the warranty honored going forward since he kicked me out) and for the cost of the repair. I'm newish to Appleton and had AWFUL luck at the dealership when I first moved here. On a fluke I went to Tuffy's for an oil change. Super friendly guys and the waiting room was nice. Didn't feel pressured to buy anything or do anything more to my car. Great experience and will be back. read more

I have been bringing my trucks here for the past three years. I have always been impressed with the professionalism and customer service that they've provided. I always come away having learned something new and have never been pressured or upsold. I don't know much about vehicles but I can say that this is the first place I've been where customer service seems a priority and they don't make you feel like an idiot for asking questions. read more
