    2 fish strips and chips
    Shelly S.

So after living about 5 minutes from this location we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. We ordered the clam strips and chips, hush puppies, 2 fish strips and chips and a side of calamari. Everything tasted pretty good. But have to agree with others regarding the calamari. Definitely needed some seasoning. Loved that the chips were the old school crinkle cuts. A little pricey but will definitely be back. There is seating if you decide to eat in. Ordering was super easy but i noticed a small fee if you didn't meet the minimum charge (sorry I can't remember the minimum for using a credit/debit card). There is parking but could be limited as there are two other restaurants and a bunch of other small businesses that share the same lot.

I ate here after many years of not doing so only because my usual spot Miyako Teriyaki down the street was closed today at 11am. Anyway, gotta somewhat agree with Tommy T, it was disappointing. Idk what kind of fish they use but instead of light, flaky fish inside the batter, it was kind of mushy. The batter was crispy but not as good as Miyako. But the crinkle cut fries were good, I prefer unsalted anyway. Overall, just okay, again, not as good as Miyako plus the Korean lady is brusque bordering on rude. No thanks, don't recommend

I've driven by this place hundreds of times. Living and working in this are. I'm not a big fan of fish but I was craving some fish and chips so I decided to come and check it out. Th inside still had that old school look to it. You know when you see their menu with that look the food is gonna be hella good. I got the two piece fish and fries. It came out fairly quick. The pieces of fish are huge! I put a picture of my hand for reference. The tartar sauce has a really nice taste to it. The batter used was good as well. The only thing I needed was some hot sauce. The fries were a 2/10. No flavor no salt nothing.

I haven't had fish and chips like this in a long time. Hot, crispy outside with plenty of fish inside. To me, there seemed to be more breading than I like. That didn't stop me from eating my entire basket! You can order to go or order and dine in.

Tugboat is probably my second most fave Fish and Chips restaurant in this area. Actually number one and two are pretty darn close. The prices are raised from what they used to be last I was here. $17.00 or so inc tax for a nice 3 piece order with chips. So, much for a cheap fast lunch, but the price is the price ... same at all the other fish places too. These fish are not just the el chepo pre coated and frozen triangles of fish you'll get at some chain restaurant. These are real filets of fish drenched in batter and then fried on the spot as you order. The fish comes out hot and crispy and surprisingly not very greasy. The fries are just standard frozen fries. If you want reliable and tasty fish and chips in a casual setting, this is the place. There are several Tugboat locations in the Sac/Roseville area. They're not fancy places, but the food is what you go for!

We got the "special" buy one pound get the next pound free so we did shrimp. We got shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and dungeness crab with the special blend in one bag. The hook and reel special blend was honestly pretty gross it was sweet, Smokey and not very buttery or salty at all. We asked for lemon pepper and extra butter to put inside(which was an extra charge) it made it a little better but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The garlic noodles were really good they had a soy sauce flavor, garlicky and cheesy. The price was pretty expensive considering I've spent $30 less elsewhere. Here at hook & reel I spent $96 The service was good. She was very kind and helpful but also wasn't very attentive. The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Overall I wouldn't come back and I recommend going to Captain crab in Elk Grove it is so much better tasting and cheaper!!

10 Years of Marriage & a Great Family Dinner!…read more Last night, my wife Sokny and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with our family, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening! We had dinner at Seafood House Quan Oc, and everyone definitely came hungry! Sokny and our daughter Skylie went with the seafood boil, and it was excellent! The seafood came with a delicious curry-style sauce that had so much flavor. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal! Our niece Maddie and youngest daughter Laila enjoyed the kids' chicken wings and fries, and Maddie also really liked the eggrolls. We shared an appetizer of crab cheese wontons, which were another hit. My mom had the garlic noodles, while I went with the fish fillet with rice and salad -- and it was all great! For drinks, Skylie had a Thai tea, while Sokny tried a Black Superman and a lemon drop. The lemon drop was unfortunately more lemonade than vodka, but hey... we still had a good laugh about it! Overall, the food was fantastic, but what made the night special was simply being together as a family. 10 years of marriage, lots of memories, and many more to come. Thank you to my beautiful wife for sharing this journey with me. I love you, Sokny!

Right when you walk in, everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was a busy Saturday evening, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was also so friendly, and our food came out FAST and piping hot! In our past experiences at other crab boil restaurants, it can take forever just to get a table, let alone get your food. So we really appreciated how quickly everything came out here! Now, THE FOOD! My hubby and I both got the Dungeness crab with the mild Cajun & garlic butter seasoning. It came with potatoes and corn, and we also added a side of rice and the Cajun fries. The seasoning was SO good! It had plenty of flavor without being overly salty. The crab was delicious and cooked perfectly. And those Cajun fries?! They were super crispy and seasoned to perfection! The only thing I would have changed was that we weren't given any crab crackers or tools to help us get into the crab. We actually thought they didn't have any at first. We later asked and were provided with some, but it would have been nice if they were offered or brought out with our gloves and bibs since we ordered crab. Other than that, I really enjoyed our experience! I especially loved that the restaurant has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to some other crab boil spots. The seats were comfortable, the music wasn't extremely loud, and it still had a fun vibe while being quiet enough for us to actually have a conversation. Overall, I'm giving Captain Crab a 10/10! We'll definitely be back!

SIDE NOTE-to anyone going there 5 or more party, it's automatic 15% gratuity. JUST KNOW when someone orders to-go while dining, that to-go amount will be added to your dine in bill, of course meaning the gratuity tip will be higher on your final bill due to that to-go order added. They will not make any changes for you there if you try to apply logic. Guess you have to pretend to walk in the door to order or call in while you're sitting down to place the order to-go to avoid it being part of the total bill. Hopefully they change that system because why would you charge to-go orders as part of the dine-in to rack up the gratuity tip for an under par service!? When I questioned the server how does it make sense and she said yes we can cancel the order and call it in rather than just taking the initiative to separate the orders. Make it make sense or maybe I'm just over reacting but it does seem like a way to get more money out of folks. Receipt name said nana and she had a bit of an attitude. I know she already got her tip automatically but at least display some customer service hospitality along the way. First time trying it and likely will be sticking to crab city or boiling crab instead when I crave seafood boil.

First impression - yes, as others have mentioned, the parking is not close or easy to find. You have to drive all the way around the hotel, then locate a valet to open a gate so that you can park. Our table had the ahi nachos which they all reported as very good (I don't eat raw seafood, so I did not try it). We also ordered the crab cakes which were very small, and the sauce on top was VERY spicy. I love crab cakes but these were definitely not the best we've ever had. One of our guests said he enjoyed his steak and scallops entree. Another guest had the fish and chips which he said was good. Next guest ordered an all steak meal which she said she enjoyed. I ordered the skinny margarita, which was not good and I did not continue to drink after the first few sips. I was really excited to order the lobster, as I hadn't had lobster in quite some time. It looked amazing when it arrived, but it was, sadly, overcooked, very difficult to cut and I gave up after a bite. The mashed potatoes and vegetables that accompanied it were good. For $73.00, however, I was greatly disappointed. Our server was hit or miss, and she did not check back on us to ask about our meals which was sadly unexpected. The location is very nice. We took a little stroll after dinner outside by the river. I perused some of the reviews and was astounded at one in particular. This patron gave her entire experience a ONE star because she chose to eat OUTSIDE, at a restaurant on A RIVER, and even though her party found the food and service to be divine, she insulted the restaurant with a one star review because she claimed her party was swarmed throughout their meal by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes that were OUTSIDE! Imagine! (Insert eye roll here!). Unbelievable! And soooo ridiculous! Why not ask to be moved inside when this "overwhelming swarm" first overcame your table and viciously attacked you? And yet this reviewer stayed outside and kept enduring the "mosquito monsoon". Good grief. How in the heck is the restaurant, which AGAIN, is located ON A RIVER, supposed to control those mosquitoes (which plague us ALL when we are outside in warmer weather)? And why claim to have suffered through your meal by these swarms of mosquitoes and not even think to ask to be moved inside? Anyway, it was sad to read such a ridiculous review. About mosquitoes being outside. On a river. Which Scott's surely cannot be held responsible for! Outrageous!

Small portions but the cakes were flaky and the crispy fried scallions were so good I added to everything. Server was King, he was excellent, taking care of all our needs and so polite. He offered to split our entrees for us when we were having a hard time deciding. 3/5 halibut was sadly not very well flavored. 3.5/5 the ribeye wasn't as good as previous times. A bit chewy and flat. 4.5/5 garlic mashed potatoes with the entree didn't taste very garlicky so we asked the server to double check it was garlic. He came out with a giant replacement serving for us which was awesome and perfect. He indicated the chef added extra garlic which was exactly what we needed. We got a free dessert for our bday girl. She got the mixed berry cobbler complete with a candle and I got a crème brulee. 4/5 crème brulee, one of the better desserts I've had there. We also got a free champagne bottle for her bday l which was a nice touch. Inside was dim and dark but always feels very private. The entrees were less tasty than in prior visits which was a bit disappointing but prior visits were much better than expected so the bar may have been set too high. Hoping the food will be back on point next time, but overall still a solid visit.
