The reviews for this place were decent so I wanted to give it a try. We frequent this shopping area often and have been craving some fish and chips. While the service is lovely and Mimi is a sweetheart, and the ambience is retro fun, the food just didn't do it for us. Everything was kinda one note. Everything was hot and fresh. The tartar and ranch are pretty good. The fish, the fries, the fried zucchini, and chicken all just tasted oil. No flavor really. The hush puppies were decent and the o my thing that had any flavor, but 5 tiny hush puppies for $4.50 kind of blew my mind. I was expecting big hush puppies and more (see pic for tiny hush puppies) We had to heavily salt everything. We spent $47 for two people. Not terrible but I wouldn't go back when there are so many other options.

Great fish n chips! This was our first time visiting, and the staff made us feel right at home with their warm, friendly service. We got the 3-piece fish n chips meal, which was plenty to share between two people. The batter was crispy and light, with a tasty tartar sauce on the side. Can't wait to come back and try the clam chowder next time!

We stopped by after a few appointments and noticed there credit card reader was down. 6/3/2026 Sad we didn't have enough cash. Hopefully we will be back on Friday. We have their large pieces of fish. I miss there fish sandwiches.

Over-fried and dried out... no longer edible food :(
    Margot R.

Normally the food is pretty good, but the most recent time we came it was not. The fish was okay but a little dried out in spots. But the fries were absolutely terrible. It was like the oil was old and they fries were dry and burnt tasting. I'll add photos to better explain. I've never had fries that bad in my life and I'm surprised they allowed them to be sold. I could tell just by looking at them that something was wrong because they were dark and the texture was strange and over-fried. So we're disappointed. I currently give them 3 stars because before this, our experiences were decent. But I'm turned off from returning.

Love this place! I don't know if there's another place close to me, but I'm not mad since I'd probably still go here anyway! The food is good, always piping hot and crispy fries!!! Order ahead if you can, otherwise it can take a bit. It's a typical diner style restaurant, pretty clean, and the lady at the front is always nice!

It's a little tiny hole in the wall that I've passed over hundreds of times, but now I see why people love it. Friendly and accommodating staff with yummy bites. I asked if I could order off of the kids menu because I wasn't all that hungry: it was an immediate yes. The food hit the table fairly quickly and everything was on point. The restaurant was clean, the service was great...definitely worth checking out!

All is delicious and very reasonable. Fresh and hot. The 1 piece dinner is huge. They're always nice and fast. Fresh oil always so taste is great!!

As someone who has a food sensitivity to garlic/onion/dairy, I really appreciate how fresh/simple the fried fish is here. The fish is never fishy and the batter is always crispy and not overseasoned which I appreciate since I have a sensitive tummy. The fries are nothing special - krinkle cut and bland, but I don't mind because I'm here for the fish at the end of the day.

Last I was here was like a year ago and I complained about the high prices and I wouldn't come back unless I got a job that paid a lot more! OK, I got a job that pays a lot more now, so I can afford the $20 lunch bill here for a 3 piece fish and chips order along with a drink. At least the prices haven't gone up further in the last year! The fish and the chips are still the same, very delicious and crispy. I think they use pollock fish. It's hotter than you know what outside, but the AC is working fine inside so that's nice .... till you have to go back outside! Service is all the same, fast and efficient. I guess I can come back here now even with the prices, just glad I don't have to pay for anyone else! Mom. Dad and a teenager ... damn, that's a $60 lunch, just for fish and chips!

Takeout order--6 piece fish & chips, side orders of prawns & hush puppies. Came with tartar sauce, vinegar, & cocktail sauce.
    Alma S.

Overall it was good, 3.5 stars. We got takeout for a weeknight dinner--6 piece fish & chips, side order of prawns, & side order of hush puppies. It came with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, vinegar, & ketchup packets. Ordering was easy over the phone & customer service was friendly at pick up. Food was packed well. The fish was moist inside & had a crispy batter. The fries were disappointingly meh--bland & too soft. The prawns were perfectly tender. The hush puppies were flavorful with a soft inside and a great crunchy outside, but they were pretty small. The sauces were fine, but I wanted more of a flavor punch, like more horseradish in the cocktail sauce. The tartar sauce (which we got an ample amount of) was uniquely smooth versus having relish pieces mixed in.

We ordered the cheesesteak rolls to start, and I had to try the popular Bubble Bliss drink. When the drink arrived, the waitress made the experience even more exciting by infusing the bubble right on top of it. Shortly after, our appetizer arrived. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the rolls were, as we weren't quite sure what to expect from a cheesesteak roll. When our entrées arrived, every single one of us enjoyed what we ordered, so we decided to share with one another. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. At the end of our meal, I was offered a complimentary birthday dessert, which was a thoughtful touch and a great way to end the evening. Overall, this restaurant is absolutely fantastic. From the beautiful decor that's perfect for taking selfies, to the delicious food and drinks, and down to the excellent service, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. It's a great spot for a date night or to celebrate a special occasion!

We had the fried calamari appetizer and it was delicious, not greasy at all and had fried green beans and onions mixed in. Wife loved her grilled salmon entree. We both enjoyed our cocktails as well. Service was fairly good overall, although it took a long time before our server came to take our order and service was just all around slow. Very friendly though. Cons: My entree was not good. Ordered the pappardelle with short rib ragu. This was NOT a ragu as it is commonly known, it was more of a cream sauce with some meat in it. The pasta was swimming in cream. And I hate cream sauce. I never would have ordered it had the menu description said it was a cream sauce. The server offered to make me another entree but I did not want to wait another 30 minutes so I choked down what I had. Value is not good. The burger is $20, for example. Prices are a bit too high for the experience you are getting. Verdict: We may be back, as 2/3 of the food was quite good, they just failed on my pasta dish. But it's pricey, so who knows. Moderate recommendation.

Q1227 easily became one of my favorite dining experiences in Sacramento…read more We started with the lobster bites and broccolini. The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

It was a new place for all of them, but I've been here (and the previous location) multiple times. The food has always been good and I enjoy the creative menu. As expected, everyone enjoyed the food this night as well! I had the Beef Wellington, something I rarely see on menus... so when I DO see it, it's usually on my short list. It was excellent. The broccolini was great too (it was the veggie I chose). And... the carrot cake! Bravo! I love a great carrot cake. The unfortunate negative for us? And I hate to even mention this, but it was definitely a thing for us... the musician, whom I LOVED for his talent and music... was just too loud for us. Not sure what to suggest on that. We enjoyed the music, but we couldn't hear anything else. We couldn't hear each other... we couldn't hear the waiter more often than not... the horn (clarinet) just blasted us out. We weren't RIGHT next to him, we were a couple tables away... but the same side of the room as him. In the future, I'll try to be seated further away if I'm with a group that wants to talk. I'll be back... but maybe after I take an ASL course.

We celebrated Mrs. K's birthday yesterday with our first visit ever to Fleming's, and it was a…read morehappy choice. Fleming's has a lot going for it, though we found that along with some great hits, there were also significant misses. One of Fleming's definite strengths is what I would call the "feel" of the experience. From the impressive entryway with its see-through wine bottle walls to the welcoming, friendly interactions with everyone we met, we felt good about being there. The message was that great things were to come. The lengths that Fleming's goes to in making a special occasion feel celebratory are terrific. The hostess who seated us mentioned it; it carried through with decorations across the tablecloth, then a picture taken of us and presented in a frame. Even a complimentary glass of champagne, and a complimentary dessert at the end of the meal - nobody makes a special occasion feel as special as Fleming's succeeds in doing. Our server, Roman, is a first-class server who contributed to our happy experience. Roman is a terrific guy with experiences to share and the ability to guide us through the meal. Not once did we ever have to wonder where our waiter was, and we felt like he was in charge and available whenever we needed him. At various times, managers came over to check on everything, but always in an unobtrusive and brief visit. Great personnel throughout. But I do have to keep it real: with the food, there were both hits and misses. The single biggest miss was the seafood tower, which by itself, I would give no more than a 2/5. The crab is snow crab, not king crab, and the pieces of crabmeat were minuscule. They were so tiny that there could not have been more than an ounce of actual crab outside the shells, and it was not pleasurable to eat. The shrimp were impressively large and properly peeled, but they were overcooked and a bit too tough. The two pieces of lobstertail were also overcooked and not particularly fresh-tasting. The other misses were the pork chop and the asparagus. The pork chop was impressive in its presentation, but too dry to be enjoyable. Some of it near the bone was better, but most of it wasn't to my liking and wasn't eaten. The asparagus was totally off, tough and chewy. But they noticed we hadn't eaten it, and without any request from us, they removed it from the bill. And, there were definite hits. My wife loves good scallops, and she said Fleming's scallops were delicious. The onion rings were among the best we've ever had. Both desserts were excellent. The carrot cake was good, but the brownie was even better, served with ice cream and whipped cream. I always think brownies are too rich and dense, but Fleming's brownie is light and so chocolatey-good. Fleming's gets a ton of 5-star reviews, and I have no problem recommending it. In fairness to Fleming's, they do hold themselves out to be first and foremost a "prime steakhouse", and we did not have steak. My first choice, actually, was a cap steak, a spectacular cut of meat that's very hard to find on any restaurant menu. But they were out of it that day. For a special occasion, Fleming's is a no-brainer, and the overall experience is one you will enjoy. Go for it.

Our server greeted us right away and was very sweet and attentive. You could tell she was still in training, but everything went smoothly. The only small thing I would suggest is having more napkins at the table, since we were only given one per plate and ended up needing a few more during the meal. We had originally reserved a tatami table, but quickly realized it wasn't the best fit for our group since we had some older people with knee pain. Just a heads up, the tatami seating does not have recessed flooring. Luckily, we were able to adjust to a regular table. Once we were settled, we looked through the menu and ordered a double toro roll, a wagyu roll, and a dinner bento with unagi-don. Happy to report everything we ordered was delicious! The double toro was very fresh and refreshing, and the wagyu roll had a rich, savory flavor that reminded us of a yummy steak. We enjoyed every bite. I was especially impressed with my bento box. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were very generous. The bento came with steamed egg, a fresh garden salad, assorted tempura, and unagi-don. Everything in the box tasted great. The tempura was light and crispy, and the unagi was savory and satisfying with egg ribbons in the rice. I think it might be one of the best bento boxes I've had in a long time. Overall, we had a great experience at Azayaka Japanese Fusion. The food was delicious, the service was warm, and we would definitely come back to try more dishes.

First, I want to say the chef was younger, but he put alot of care and effort into each dish, so he should definitely be acknowledged. However, as soon as we walked in, there was no greeting from both of the female servers, only cold stares. Many servers do not give great service to younger tables and assume they won't tip. This occurred throughout our dining experience and we didn't feel welcomed at all. Our table also wasn't the biggest and there was no pre-bussing done to clear our dining space. Also, as a recent graduate, I brought my cap to receive a $15 gift card for their promotion. Instead, she gave a "neighborhood" discount (10% off which made it $10 off). I didn't mention anything since I did not feel like coming back to this location. Then I looked at the receipt, wrote a 20% tip, but this was where I felt scammed. It's difficult to explain and I wish I took a picture, but please check your math on the suggested tip. Total with discount: $98 Previous Total: $108 Suggested Tip: 20% = $20 and Suggested Total: $128 I don't mind tipping $20, but the suggested total would include a $30 tip? I don't know if it's intentional and the server wanted to pocket the discount as her tip, but it did not feel fair. We had two younger kids with us and I didn't want them to notice, so we just left after paying. We been to the Sacramento location many times, but their Roseville location was disappointing. Horrible service.

Right when you walk in, everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was a busy Saturday evening, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was also so friendly, and our food came out FAST and piping hot! In our past experiences at other crab boil restaurants, it can take forever just to get a table, let alone get your food. So we really appreciated how quickly everything came out here! Now, THE FOOD! My hubby and I both got the Dungeness crab with the mild Cajun & garlic butter seasoning. It came with potatoes and corn, and we also added a side of rice and the Cajun fries. The seasoning was SO good! It had plenty of flavor without being overly salty. The crab was delicious and cooked perfectly. And those Cajun fries?! They were super crispy and seasoned to perfection! The only thing I would have changed was that we weren't given any crab crackers or tools to help us get into the crab. We actually thought they didn't have any at first. We later asked and were provided with some, but it would have been nice if they were offered or brought out with our gloves and bibs since we ordered crab. Other than that, I really enjoyed our experience! I especially loved that the restaurant has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to some other crab boil spots. The seats were comfortable, the music wasn't extremely loud, and it still had a fun vibe while being quiet enough for us to actually have a conversation. Overall, I'm giving Captain Crab a 10/10! We'll definitely be back!

I was excited to finally try this place with my husband. We came in for an early dinner during the…read moreweek and it wasn't busy at all. We had a very friendly waiter. I didn't want to write this review but I had a concern about something about the menu. I ordered the tequenos de pollo as an appetizer and the menu didn't say anything about it having cheese in which was perfect. I got the order and it in fact had cheese. I'm lactose intolerant and really sensitive to dairy so I asked about the cheese being in it. He confirmed it was in there, so I asked if they can just take it back- the waiter said no. I then asked if they can just take it off the bill because I couldn't eat it. He said no to that too. My husband doesn't eat meat and my son is lactose intolerant so it was going to be food wasted and money down the drain. I was pretty shocked because I've never been to a restaurant where they can't reasonable accommodate the guest. I then ordered my entree and the chicken was very dry and overcooked. I was not satisfied but I knew they wouldn't let me swap it for something else. Unfortunately I'm not going to rush to come back. The waiter was friendly enough but not accommodating. I get nervous when it comes to food allergies because now I know that some restaurants aren't disclosing food allergens which is actually not allowed. There are folks out here with life threatening allergies, so these places need to be careful. I'm glad I'm not one of those people but it's still disappointing.
