Q1227 easily became one of my favorite dining experiences in Sacramento. We started with the lobster bites and broccolini. The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Family offered to take me out to dinner for my birthday and asked me where I wanted to go. Q1227 was the call! It was a new place for all of them, but I've been here (and the previous location) multiple times. The food has always been good and I enjoy the creative menu. As expected, everyone enjoyed the food this night as well! I had the Beef Wellington, something I rarely see on menus... so when I DO see it, it's usually on my short list. It was excellent. The broccolini was great too (it was the veggie I chose). And... the carrot cake! Bravo! I love a great carrot cake. The unfortunate negative for us? And I hate to even mention this, but it was definitely a thing for us... the musician, whom I LOVED for his talent and music... was just too loud for us. Not sure what to suggest on that. We enjoyed the music, but we couldn't hear anything else. We couldn't hear each other... we couldn't hear the waiter more often than not... the horn (clarinet) just blasted us out. We weren't RIGHT next to him, we were a couple tables away... but the same side of the room as him. In the future, I'll try to be seated further away if I'm with a group that wants to talk. Usually, this location is top tier, which is why we chose it to celebrate my aunt's 77th birthday. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to the standard we've come to expect. When we arrived on a Monday, the restaurant wasn't crowded, so we expected attentive service. We were seated, our server came over for drinks, and we let him know we were celebrating my aunt's birthday. This restaurant usually has a nice way of acknowledging birthdays, so we were looking forward to that, but it never happened. We ordered the lobster bites, and they were outstanding as always. My mom, who is allergic to seafood, started feeling a little nauseous from the smell and asked our server for some lemons. He walked away, and we never saw him again. After waiting for quite a while, we asked another server, who brought them over immediately. Our salads and soup were delivered by a food runner, and once again, our server was nowhere to be found. I eventually had to flag down the manager just to have our appetizer and soup plates cleared from the table. Our entrees arrived, the server asked how everything was, and then disappeared again. The next time we saw him was when he dropped off the check. What made it even more frustrating was watching him repeatedly check on, laugh with, and chat with the table behind us while barely acknowledging ours. We completely understand that restaurants get busy and servers can get overwhelmed, but that didn't seem to be the case here. For a $300 dinner for four people at an upscale restaurant, I expected a much higher level of service. The manager did remove our desserts from the bill, and I appreciate that gesture, but I honestly felt more should have been done once it was clear how neglected our table had been. The biggest disappointment is that the food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was delicious, which made the lack of service stand out even more. This has always been one of my favorite locations, so I truly hope this was just an off night. I have never seen such poor service in my life. Two weeks prior to tonight, my dad made a reservation for parents' 58th wedding anniversary. He paid $102(!!!) to reserve the table. Flash forward to this afternoon, they called my dad's cell phone to confirm the reservation. They never mentioned anything about the restaurant being closed for a private party or anything. My elderly parents show up for their reservation, only to be turned away by the host due to a private party! When my dad explained they had a reservation and paid for their table, the manager came over to speak to them. The manager said he would refund their reservation charge, but did NOTHING to make it right. They called and confirmed just hours before, turned them away at the door, and didn't even offer to get them a table for the next day or anything. For elderly parents with mobility issues, it's hard enough to get out of the house on a normal day, but to be turned away at the door due to mismanagement of their establishment is just embarrassing. We ordered the lobster bites which were incredible along with the short rib and burger. The were both really good but we thought the burger was better. Sam was our bartender/server for the night. They had a guy in there playing jazz on a saxophone, the lighting was nice. All around good vibe. The service was really good our waitresses was very attentive to our table. I had been wanting to come here for a couple years after reading the excellent reviews and had noticed reservations were booked weeks in advance. We came here on an early Saturday evening. The place has a modern and elegant design. There was live music with saxophone playing that really added to the experience. My old fashioned cocktail was very generous and strong which gave me a light buzz. The appetizers and entrees were generously portioned, savory and richly flavored. I had the ribeye cap cooked medium rare. My wife had the Jumbalaya that was mildly spicy and gave me a mild sweat. My favorite was my son's fried chicken and mashed potatoes that tasted like Southern Heaven. The peach cobbler was a modern take that was a great note for the end. Ambiance was amazing, super cute and definitely a date night/special occasion kind of place. We had really high expectations coming in, but unfortunately the experience was pretty mid overall. The bread appetizer was delicious and dessert was absolutely bomb, but our steak was ordered medium and came out basically well done. Also, our waitress seemed to have no idea about the menu. Every question we asked was answered with "I don't know, I'm new." That was honestly frustrating for a place at this price point. The best part of the night was actually the bartender, who came over to check on us after noticing something was off. They were super kind, accommodating, and genuinely tried to make the experience better. They removed the included tip from our bill, though of course we still tipped. Service 2 stars: our served was just OK and not super attentive as my drink sat at the bar for over 6 minutes and the non alcoholic drink came 5 min after that .....he seemed overwhelmed by the three tables he had. When I ask people recommendations for dinner, some people would suggest Q1227. I wish I could give it a second try but our first time here was soooo underwhelming. The service from the hostess to server was TERRIBLE. I made reservations for my husband's bday dinner and not that we were expecting anything above and beyond.... Just baseline service - not that we were a nuisance. We waited an additional hour for our table, we were sat outside during a very cold night, and it took approximately 20 mins to get menus and another 10 mins after for a water. Our dinner was rushed because they wanted to turn our table for the next reservation but this urgency and courtesy was far from what was provided to us. The food was ok. My friends and family celebrated my 48th birthday last night at this beautiful restaurant. There's construction outside, which was inconvenient but we were able to get around it. The staff and service surpassed all of our expectations. Classy, good vibes and live jazz music really complimented the night. Wow! I was very disappointed in q1227. I had went there back when they were away from the mall area and they were great! However when I went back to the new location it was so bad. The jambalaya had 2 little crab claws in it over yellow rice?! The gumbo is literally a small bowl for 18! And has no flavor The branzino was probably the only decent item. Love this place but it is the first time I've been here since they moved from the last location and I have to say they haven't missed a beat. Was in the area and stopped by during happy hour, I was not disappointed, menu has a lot of variety. Walked in and was greeted warmly, staff was attentive and friendly through my entire visit as always. The dining room is nice, not a bad seat in the place, just a very nice place to have a meal (they have a tv in the bar if there's a game). Ordered the crab cakes, they were seasoned well, more crab than cake and the remolaude that came with it paired great. The ambiance is beautiful and truly sets the tone for a fine-dining experience. My mother had been wanting to dine here for quite some time, so I decided to take her. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, an area with a lot of activity as servers moved constantly throughout the space. In the future, I would request a booth or one of the tables along the wall for a more relaxed experience. The lighting is dim, with a small table lamp placed at the center of the table, which was very helpful when reading the menu. We decided to go all out and ordered champagne and Moscato, a spinach artichoke dip to start, a crab Louie salad to share, ginger lamb, beef Wellington, broccolini, greens, and mac and cheese. **Spinach Artichoke Dip:** Unfortunately, this was watery and lacked flavor. The most noticeable taste came from the grill marks on the toast it was served with. **Crab Louie Salad:** This dish featured a generous portion of lump crab meat and was served wedge-style with sliced egg and cherry tomatoes. It was nicely presented and enjoyable. **Ginger Lamb:** My mother enjoyed this dish. **Beef Wellington:** I was pleased that the ground mustard flavor was not overpowering. The meat was cooked to perfection and sliced like butter; however, no particular flavors stood out. **Mac and Cheese:** Very basic and unremarkable. **Broccolini:** It was well prepared and looked delicious, though it was a bit too oily for my taste. For dessert, I initially ordered the bread pudding, but it was doughy and lacked flavor. I exchanged it for the flourless chocolate cheesecake, which was amazing. My mother ordered the same dessert. We also had coffee, which was served in a generously sized mug and was excellent. Overall, I'm glad I had the experience. The total came to over $400, including the automatically added 18% gratuity. The service, however, was impeccable. The staff genuinely cares about the guest experience. The chef personally visits tables to introduce himself, check in, and offer assistance. I had been hearing about this place for a few years, and it came highly recommended so we decided to try it for dinner with friends. The space is somewhat romantically lit, with open walking spaces between tables. We were seated at a booth, which afforded us a good view of the rest of the restaurant and bar area. Our waiter was amazing! Very attentive, competent and personable and made several suggestions since it was our first time here. We placed our food order and also ordered the garlic cheese loaf and artichoke beignet to share. The garlic cheese loaf was really good, with an appropriate mix of cheese and garlic flavors in a medium loaf with a crunchy crust and soft insides. The beignets, on the other hand, were so small, they should be removed from the shareable menu. We got 5 small balls, about the size of large marbles on a bed of sauce. The flavor was ok but they definitely need to be larger if they are meant to be shared. It took about 20-30 mins for our dinner food to arrive. First, the branzini, a whole fish, flash fried in various seasonings, had the best presentation and flavor. The waiter offered to debone it for me and I agreed, just to watch his process. I opted for a side of greens that were just meh. My wife got the salmon, which came on a bed of mashed potatoes. It was cooked properly but was lacking in flavor adn was a much smaller cut than expected, based on the prices. We also tried the mac and cheese, which was also lacking in flavor. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding with bourbon creme sauce. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing selection of the evening. The consistency of the "bread" was very soft, almost like milk toast and the creme sauce had no bourbon flavor, or any other flavor for that matter. I really, really wanted to like this restaurant and had high hopes, but it ended up being mediocre at best. None of the dishes really stood out unfortunately. The ambiance was nice but kind of overwhelming at the same time. I enjoyed the music but it was very loud to the point where it became distracting, and the lighting and seating setup felt awkward. Most of the seating consists of booths, with only two center tables, which would have been much more comfortable. We were a party of four seated in an awkward corner booth with a bright light directly overhead. I asked if we could move to one of the center tables, but was told they were reserved. The servers and runners were kind, although service was on the slower side we didn't mind. We also appreciated how Chef Q came to personally introduce himself to each table, that was a nice touch! Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this place, but I wouldn't recommend it. Even if these same dishes had been served at a more affordable restaurant, my opinion would still be the same. The pork chop was really dry, the oxtail in the ragu wasn't tender enough, and the corn chowder in the sides was really salty. Attended a work Christmas party at Q1227 and was so excited to return to see their new menu items & to learn that they have their liquor license now! Our group tried the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread, Jambalaya, Southern Fried Chicken, Apple Spinach and Arugala salad, and the Braised Short Rib. As usual, the chefs really came through and each plate was delicious and fresh! The group consensus was the Chef Q's Jambalaya & the Southern Fried Chicken were the favorites. Not only was the presentation amazing for each dish, but the flavors and consistency as well. We had great service from the beginning and got recommendations from our server. Q1227 has the perfect ambiance for a date night, celebrations of all kinds, meetings, or a nice dinner for one (just ask Snoop Dogg!). So there's a lot of hype but it was just mediocre to me. If you're rich or catering then I guess you get a different type of service. So let me start with the service being rushed from the gate. The menu pages need replacing because the pages were either torn, printed letter missing or had food stains on them. The dessert menus were just as bad and were thrown to us like playing cards which in essence said get your a** out you've been here too long! Now the food. I am plant based but if you mess up veggies I have a problem especially with cost, tax & tip $65. And I tipped less than I normally would. I ordered the spinach & arugula salad w/ very few cranberries or spiced pecans but plenty of greens which was fine but could've been more garnishes. I had Brussels sprouts that were like a salt lick which means to me that they are either old or if you change a dish they don't know how to change the seasoning. I had the roasted carrots which arrived cold, I sent them back they were reheated using the nuker & came back mushy. I ordered hot tea since I was the driver. I wasn't offered a spoon or sweetener of any type. One of my table mates ordered the oxtail which had more juice & pasta versus meat. It was not balanced at all. My mom ordered the short rib served with mashed potatoes. The meat was fork tender. She said it was good but not worth coming back for. She also ordered the cheese bread which was the best part for her. My other friend ordered the fried chicken served with mashed potatoes. She said the chicken was good and well seasoned. Jazz musician playing beautifully was so nice! Worth a 1h 45m ride? Not for me. I will not be back. For the effort it took to get there & for what was given it was not worth it. We went out to Q1227 restaurant in Roseville last night and had a great time we had a party of 12 we were seated quickly and our server Eric while our waters and drinks as well as appetizers immediately. I started off with the oxtail appetizer the lobster bites brussels sprouts . we also tried the garlic cheese bread sitting in olive oil for my main course. I had the apple spinach, arugula salad with walnuts. It was delicious. My wife had the southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes with the gravy on the side and my daughter had the salmon everyone enjoyed their meal. Some in our group had the gumbo Sam had to jump a aliyah overall, everyone was very pleased not only with the food, but the ambience in the service were excellent as well.. I'll start off this review with kudos to the staff. They were kind and attentive. The restaurant ambiance is pretty. It looks like a nice romantic spot with lots of tables and booths, a large bar area, and has a few slightly more private looking areas with curtains separating some tables in the back. That's fun!! They did seem to have a celebration table decoration depending what you are celebrating.. that they set on the table to let the server know you are there celebrating something. Now the food - so the beignet artichokes were good. The sauce on the plate was delicious, I just wish it had been warm and I wouldn't consider it a beignet. I wouldn't order the bone marrow again. There was too much going on with it but not enough bone marrow. It seemed like they just drenched it in truffle oil and mushrooms and a few potato chips on top. How are we supposed to know what bone marrow tastes like? The lobster rolls- the inside is good. There's just not enough. For the price, the pieces of lobster should be spilling out. The caviar is like a sniff of caviar. There could be more for the price... The prime pepper steak filet was delicious along with the cognac cream on the side. The roasted lobster tail was good as well. The seared Atlantic salmon was absolutely delicious! We took half of the salmon home and air fried it the next day and it was absolutely delicious again! For desserts.. I recommend the crème brûlée. The only bad part was the partly unripe strawberries. The millionaires cheesecake is not worth the calories, even though it was recommended to us as "the best dessert." It was too thick for us and not a normal cheesecake type flavor. So if you're thinking it's a traditional cheesecake, it's not. Think mostly caramel and chocolate. We also got a brownie to go and our kids devoured it- so it must have been good. I did receive a birthday dessert from the kitchen. It was a Bundt style cake - might have been lemon or key lime, not sure as we weren't told but it was slightly stale tasting but I thought it was good and a fun gesture to make someone feel a bit special on their day. I'd go back here again for the steaks, lobster and salmon... and that's saying something because I don't really care for salmon. This makes me change my mind!! Annnnd the crème brûlée. To celebrate our 2 year anniversary my husband and I decided to try out Q1227. Beautiful restaurant, pleasant and kind staff, and plenty of seating options. Located outside the galleria near the kids playground also makes it convenient to stop off for a quick bite after a days worth of shopping. They're known for their modern comfort food. I can attest to their food indeed being comforting given how full I was from our delicious meal. We started off with Beef & Bleu and Gumbo Soup. Excellent starters! I love bleu cheese but I will admit some of the crumbles were a bit much with this dish so it isn't for everyone. The beef however were scrumptious bits of tender goodness. Gumbo was very flavorful and not salty like a lot of other spots we've tried. Def would get these again. For dinner I got the Southern Fried Chicken. 12/10! Seasoned well, amazing crunch, and potatoes were interesting tasty. Found out it's because they add cheese! FYI to my lactose intolerant folks, lol. Hubby got their Chef Q's Jambalaya. Killed it! Portion of seafood and sausage were plentiful. The saffron rice had a different taste. Not bad but some may not be a fan due to the flavor. We were recommended with the Carrot Cake or Bourbon St. Bread Pudding. Went with bread pudding because hello? It has the name BOURBON STREET in it so we had to stick with the southern theme. Bourbon cream sauce was delectable! Bread pudding honestly was not my favorite due to texture. This is just me and I'm glad I tried anyway. Due to our anniversary we wanted to get drinks. Our server, Francis, told us they didn't carry liquor. This was a bummer hence the drop in star. We're not huge wine fans which they are a very wine forward restaurant here. We tried the white sangria that had so much ice it just tasted like water down white wine. We were able to switch it for a regular pinto gris. Then we tried the crab cake eggs Benedict. The egg was basically hard boiled. We told our waiter and he said oh yeah it should be runny do you want a new one. But after waiting so long we just said no thanks. I hope that this restaurant refocuses its efforts towards the food. Sounds like it used to be amazing when it was at its previous location. It's been on our list for some time but when we finally made it there it sadly did not deliver. Everything was close to inedibly salty. As if someone didn't realize that they seasoned the food and so seasoned twice. If it was just one dish then I would not feel like something was off, but it was everything. Appetizers salty, mains salty, salad dressing? It was oddly buffalo sauce on my salad? Needless to say so salty. We didn't bother staying for dessert. The truffle fries says they use REAL shaved truffles, as a truffle snob I will say these fries were probably the worst ones ever, my wife doesn't like truffle fries but she was able to eat them, so yeah 1/10 rating. The breading around lobster tail bites was really good 8/10, NO on the collard greens super spicy for some reason (yes im from the south originally) and its not what we were expected or wanted (they kindly removed that from the bill) Shrimp and grits Shrimp was over cooked and rubbery, grits were meh nothing bad or good about them just plain grits, this is were I think he could of blown it out the water (missed opportunity) 5/10 The famous Q burger was cooked med rare (nice job), good flavor. The bread came burnt because having you Name on the building, decor and menus isn't enough let's char it into the top of the burger just incase people forgot where they were. Messed with taste. Wife gave it 7/10. Our server was great, only sucks because if they didn't put the automatic gratuity on there, they would of got double that. Dinner 42 here on a saturday night with an appetizer and two drinks surpassed $200 easily. Mind that they would automatically include gratuity for a table for two. We had the short rib, which was tender and very well flavored, and the lamb chop which was prepared perfectly. This is my first time at there.And you location, it seems that they haven't skipped a beat with their food. Staff is very friendly. This is my families favorite special occasion spot. The new space is beautiful, and the service is always wonderful. We always have to get the hummus and the garlic bread to start and they definitely have solid Brussel sprouts and collard greens. The seafood is always perfectly cooked and the chicken is beautifully plated and always a fan favorite. The desserts are massive so be ready to share! read more

Food was excellent from the garlic cheese loaf to the collard greens, Mac n cheese, gumbo, to the wagyu burger, truffle fries and I can't recall the name to the beef with rectangular au gratin... to the unforgettable branzini/whole fish (I prefer the whole fish over filllet.) Delicious, exquisite and on point. Excellent food, staffs and atmosphere. Unfortunately, Chef Q wasn't there. The young man who attended to us was super friendly, attentive and excellent customer service, the person at the front door accepting us to the other 3 staffs who brought the food. It was my birthday/My other half brought us here/party of 3, June 16th, 5.30pm reservation for my birthday dinner. He said he did mentioned during reservation it was my birthday- no one seems to "remember" to at least wish me. It would have been nice. I was really looking forward to trying Q1227, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The pork chop was very dry and lacked flavor. The greens were overly oily and had a strong cayenne pepper taste that was overpowering and way too spicy to enjoy. The lamb chops were extremely tough, had little to no seasoning, and weren't cut neatly. The sauce lacked flavor, which made the dish fall flat. The pork belly was the biggest letdown. It was extremely dry, almost inedible, and had no real taste. The service also felt unprofessional at times. Staff were gathered around without much urgency, and it seemed like our food had been sitting out for a while. At one point, a staff member was taking pictures and recording while the food was waiting, which didn't give a great impression. To top it off, an 18% gratuity was already added for a party of just two, and we only ordered soft drinks, which felt a bit excessive given the overall experience. Overall, the food and experience didn't meet expectations, especially for the price. I was hoping for a much better experience. read more

One thing about Q1227 is there will always be exceptional service from the moment you open the door, get seated and exit the restaurant. There were 3 of us in my party and the service couldn't have been any better. This was our first time at the new location and of course it exceeded our expectations. For starters we ordered the Garlic Cheese Loaf & my goodness... the texture and warm of the bread was perfect, along with the cheese & mixture of balsamic gave it that blend of flavors. They also gave us complimentary Artichoke Beignets, those were surprisingly delicious and light in texture once you passed that initial crunch. Now for the Chicken Fried Lobster bites... a MUST ORDER, every time we have dined at the previous location. The flavor and texture are amazingly matched, not greasy or overly cooked whatsoever. The seasoning used for the lobster is my personal favorite. Lastly, for my entree I went with ol reliable which is the Southern Fried Chicken. As you can see, a very generous portion on the chicken which was so juicy and not a hint of dry. My favorite are the mash potatoes, always very creamy and delicious to the point where I don't need to use much gravy. Overall we were all very happy and satisfied with the entire meal from start to finish. Our server was kind and attentive, water cup was never low! I genuinely love when service is that great. The Ambiance was the only positive impression we took away last night. For a party of 8 we had the most negative experience.starting with the fact that food orders were taken before we ordered drinks. If it hadn't been for the fact that one couple brought a bottle of wine we would have only have water. My husband got his salad after the entree and the food itself was less than mediocre. Birthday Dinner [Roseville CA] This was our first time dining since their move to the new location at the promenade in the Roseville Galleria Mall. I had a birthday dinner here. Hubby made reservation for two, we arrived a little early and we were seated promptly. We ordered the Roasted Bone Marrow as appetizer. Delicious creamy texture and served with bread it was very good. I ordered the Berkshire "Tomahawk" Pork Chop while hubby chose Braised Prime Shortrib. To me the pork chop was a bit bland but with the maple glaze it brought the meat to life. The spinach was good. I guess my hubby noted that we were celebrating a birthday when he made the reservation... when I was given the complimentary dessert w/ a lit candle it said HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Our waiter knowingly knew it was a birthday celebration because he said so then said we can celebrate our anniversary too.. our anniversary is in December. Well, that created a less memorable experience. There was live music entertainment which I enjoyed the tunes played on a soprano saxophone. Ambiance was a bit on the loud side.
