I really, really wanted to like this restaurant and had high hopes, but it ended up being mediocre at best. None of the dishes really stood out unfortunately. The ambiance was nice but kind of overwhelming at the same time. I enjoyed the music but it was very loud to the point where it became distracting, and the lighting and seating setup felt awkward. Most of the seating consists of booths, with only two center tables, which would have been much more comfortable. We were a party of four seated in an awkward corner booth with a bright light directly overhead. I asked if we could move to one of the center tables, but was told they were reserved. The servers and runners were kind, although service was on the slower side we didn't mind. We also appreciated how Chef Q came to personally introduce himself to each table, that was a nice touch! Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this place, but I wouldn't recommend it. Even if these same dishes had been served at a more affordable restaurant, my opinion would still be the same. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion, like we were, I recommend trying a different place! If you try: Recommend: -Short rib -Garlic cheese loaf -Mashed potatoes -Mac and Cheese -My mom liked the Branzini Don't recommend: -Bourbon bread pudding- lacked flavor -Capstone ribeye- lacked flavor -Peach cobbler- mainly granola

When I ask people recommendations for dinner, some people would suggest Q1227. I wish I could give it a second try but our first time here was soooo underwhelming. The service from the hostess to server was TERRIBLE. I made reservations for my husband's bday dinner and not that we were expecting anything above and beyond.... Just baseline service - not that we were a nuisance. We waited an additional hour for our table, we were sat outside during a very cold night, and it took approximately 20 mins to get menus and another 10 mins after for a water. Our dinner was rushed because they wanted to turn our table for the next reservation but this urgency and courtesy was far from what was provided to us. The food was ok. The atmosphere was very chain restaurant vibes. The only memorable thing was the service - and not in a positive light. Speaking of which, when we sat outside there was no light on our table so it was an unwanted sensory experience.

A delicious black owned restaurant at the Galleria I can't wait to go back. The service was great. Came here for a birthday, came back for anniversary. The second time they had live music. The bread bowl is something special. Highly recommend a lot of items but I will always start with the bread bowl. The shrimp n grits were simple but good flavor no gravy. We got broccolini, shrimp, salmon, lobster bites, and a seasonal drink. I would order everything again.

Service was great. Very attentive and accommodating. Ambiance was wonderful, so well decorated, warm lighting, lots of selfie opportunities. Food was pretty delicious. Only one critique, too much pot liquor in the collard greens.

Love this place but it is the first time I've been here since they moved from the last location and I have to say they haven't missed a beat. Was in the area and stopped by during happy hour, I was not disappointed, menu has a lot of variety. Walked in and was greeted warmly, staff was attentive and friendly through my entire visit as always. The dining room is nice, not a bad seat in the place, just a very nice place to have a meal (they have a tv in the bar if there's a game). Ordered the crab cakes, they were seasoned well, more crab than cake and the remolaude that came with it paired great. Also got the wings, full sized, cooked perfectly and sauce would make anything taste amazing. Def coming back for a full meal soon 5/5

The ambiance is beautiful and truly sets the tone for a fine-dining experience. My mother had been wanting to dine here for quite some time, so I decided to take her. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, an area with a lot of activity as servers moved constantly throughout the space. In the future, I would request a booth or one of the tables along the wall for a more relaxed experience. The lighting is dim, with a small table lamp placed at the center of the table, which was very helpful when reading the menu. We decided to go all out and ordered champagne and Moscato, a spinach artichoke dip to start, a crab Louie salad to share, ginger lamb, beef Wellington, broccolini, greens, and mac and cheese. **Spinach Artichoke Dip:** Unfortunately, this was watery and lacked flavor. The most noticeable taste came from the grill marks on the toast it was served with. **Crab Louie Salad:** This dish featured a generous portion of lump crab meat and was served wedge-style with sliced egg and cherry tomatoes. It was nicely presented and enjoyable. **Ginger Lamb:** My mother enjoyed this dish. **Beef Wellington:** I was pleased that the ground mustard flavor was not overpowering. The meat was cooked to perfection and sliced like butter; however, no particular flavors stood out. **Mac and Cheese:** Very basic and unremarkable. **Broccolini:** It was well prepared and looked delicious, though it was a bit too oily for my taste. For dessert, I initially ordered the bread pudding, but it was doughy and lacked flavor. I exchanged it for the flourless chocolate cheesecake, which was amazing. My mother ordered the same dessert. We also had coffee, which was served in a generously sized mug and was excellent. Overall, I'm glad I had the experience. The total came to over $400, including the automatically added 18% gratuity. The service, however, was impeccable. The staff genuinely cares about the guest experience. The chef personally visits tables to introduce himself, check in, and offer assistance. The management team is attentive, and the servers are phenomenal. I would return for the outstanding service and to enjoy drinks at the bar during happy hour. That said, I'm not sure I would return for dinner, as I felt underwhelmed given the price point.

I had been hearing about this place for a few years, and it came highly recommended so we decided to try it for dinner with friends. The space is somewhat romantically lit, with open walking spaces between tables. We were seated at a booth, which afforded us a good view of the rest of the restaurant and bar area. Our waiter was amazing! Very attentive, competent and personable and made several suggestions since it was our first time here. We placed our food order and also ordered the garlic cheese loaf and artichoke beignet to share. The garlic cheese loaf was really good, with an appropriate mix of cheese and garlic flavors in a medium loaf with a crunchy crust and soft insides. The beignets, on the other hand, were so small, they should be removed from the shareable menu. We got 5 small balls, about the size of large marbles on a bed of sauce. The flavor was ok but they definitely need to be larger if they are meant to be shared. It took about 20-30 mins for our dinner food to arrive. First, the branzini, a whole fish, flash fried in various seasonings, had the best presentation and flavor. The waiter offered to debone it for me and I agreed, just to watch his process. I opted for a side of greens that were just meh. My wife got the salmon, which came on a bed of mashed potatoes. It was cooked properly but was lacking in flavor adn was a much smaller cut than expected, based on the prices. We also tried the mac and cheese, which was also lacking in flavor. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding with bourbon creme sauce. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing selection of the evening. The consistency of the "bread" was very soft, almost like milk toast and the creme sauce had no bourbon flavor, or any other flavor for that matter. It was just a white sauce that smothered the bread pudding. I'm not sure if it was just an off-night for the chef but for an upscale soul food restaurant, this one misses the mark for me.

Bartender made this on the spot 10/10

I was really excited to visit Q1227 again. I've actually been to Chef Q's previous location twice, and both experiences were wonderful. It felt like the kind of place you save for a special occasion, knowing you'll spend a little more for a memorable meal. Because of those past experiences, this visit was especially disappointing. With just two drinks and the cheese loaf appetizer, the bill was already adding up quickly, so I expected the food quality to match the price point. Unfortunately, I had to send back the oxtail dish because the center of the meal, including what I believe were the grits, was cold. I also ordered the fried chicken, which was rubbery and lacked the texture I was expecting. While I waited for the oxtail dish to be remade, the gravy on my chicken sat long enough to become almost gelatinous, leaving one meal warm while the other eventually became cold. I want to emphasize that the bartender was incredibly kind and provided excellent service. This review is in no way meant to put Chef Q down, but rather to share my honest experience. What made this visit so disappointing was knowing how great my previous experiences had been. Instead of feeling like I had treated myself to a special meal, it felt like I had spent a lot of money for a poor dining experience. I truly hope this was just an off night, but based on this visit, I wouldn't choose Q1227 for a special occasion again.

This place is a whole experience. The service & food was top tier. Lighting was perfect. Live saxophone playing in the background while experiencing the attentiveness of the friendly staff, the beautifully designed space. I would suggest making reservations. I will return!

New location at the Roseville Galleria. Pretty decor and has a cute room for bigger parties. The food was only ok. The pork chop was really dry, the oxtail in the ragu wasn't tender enough, and the corn chowder in the sides was really salty. The garlic bread was good, but wish the balsamic vinegar was on the side because the bread soaked it all up. The service was good. Our waiter was friendly.

Attended a work Christmas party at Q1227 and was so excited to return to see their new menu items & to learn that they have their liquor license now! Our group tried the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread, Jambalaya, Southern Fried Chicken, Apple Spinach and Arugala salad, and the Braised Short Rib. As usual, the chefs really came through and each plate was delicious and fresh! The group consensus was the Chef Q's Jambalaya & the Southern Fried Chicken were the favorites. Not only was the presentation amazing for each dish, but the flavors and consistency as well. We had great service from the beginning and got recommendations from our server. Q1227 has the perfect ambiance for a date night, celebrations of all kinds, meetings, or a nice dinner for one (just ask Snoop Dogg!). I look forward to tasting what Chef Q & his team bring to the menu in 2026!

Dinner 42 here on a saturday night with an appetizer and two drinks surpassed $200 easily. Mind that they would automatically include gratuity for a table for two. We had the short rib, which was tender and very well flavored, and the lamb chop which was prepared perfectly. This is my first time at there. And you location, it seems that they haven't skipped a beat with their food. Staff is very friendly. Ambiance is amazing with live music on this night made for a very enjoyable evening.

Does the new place serve wine?

Yes! No liquor yet, but plenty of wine.

Does Q1227 do anything special for birthdays?

When I went there it was my birthday and the restaurant knew that, since it was put on the reservation and the server was also made aware. They did not do anything to recognize the occasion. That is the one thing that was disappointing to me since… Read more

How noisy is it? For example can a party of 7 hear each other without yelling?

Q1227 allows customers to bring up to 2 bottles of wine without a corkage fee. There is a fee for the 3rd bottle or more.

Bold flavors, expert preparation, pretty on the plate and generous portions. Bambie had the 1/2 chicken fried southern style. Crispy ouside, soft and moist inside. Side of mash potatoes, side of perfectly sauteed carrot slices. I had a cesar salad. Fresh, crisp, again a big portion. The dressing was a perfect blance of creamy, piquant and a tad peppery. The croutons were crisp and flavorful. Best Cesar salad that I've had in years. My main dish was the pork carnitas tacos. Topped with heaping mounds of shredded cabbage. Creamy sauce on the cabbage. A side of mild-ish chipotle salsa served on the side to pour on the carnitas. The tacos were so big that they were almost too unwieldly to hold. But I persevered and gobbled them like there is no tomorrow. Satisfying. A big hungry guy will be perfectly happy after polishing off the plate. Wine selection is small but has the usual good suspects in the reasonable price range. Mostly California wines. I live 2 miles from this place. Tonight was my first visit. Oh yeah I'll be a frequent return customer. Highly recommended.

We were on the patio and I'll tell you when I got up to leave my butt was sore because of the undersized metal chairs with no cushions. The other option on the patio would be wooden picnic tables that looked like you might get a sliver, a far cry from the tables and chairs you could see on the patio of their neighboring restaurant. Felt very cheap, like an area just to save a few bucks. My wife and I each ordered basic hamburgers without cheese, she upgraded her side to sweet potato fries. When the order came out they both had cheese and we reluctantly sent them back but they left the sides and about 10 minutes later we received our burgers. We ordered them medium and my wife's (we can call her Carrie) was perfectly cooked! Mine was a touch over but we both agreed it was a really good hamburger. Her sweet potato fries were as good as any I have tasted, crispy on the outside while moist and flavorful in the middle. My issue was with the drinks or I should say the serving of the drinks. I had an old fashioned and Carrie had wine. It took over 10 minutes to get that first drink and then I ordered a second when I sent the hamburger back. When the new burgers came Carrie ordered a second glass of wine that took over 15 minutes to receive, at this point we were well past eating. The restaurant was only about a quarter full and when we questioned the waiter of the wines whereabouts (which we got up to do) he then went to the bartender who wasn't busy and he came back and said he reminded him. I don't believe the problem was our server simply disorganization. Although we didn't dive very deep into the menu, what we had was quite good, it was the other aspects of the restaurant that were a fail. Oh and it was a quality old fashioned. 2.5 all in all
