The establishment apologized for their dysfunctional air conditioning and asked if we wanted our meals to go. We dined in but sat by the entrance for comfort. The main dishes we consumed were quite good. The fish and chicken strips arrived sizzling and fresh. Regrettably, for our tastes, the "chips" fries needed additional seasoning. The atmosphere of the restaurant had promise. It was apparent that they strove for a nautical theme. However, there were a variety of plants placed about, a refrigerator and an upside down kiddy pool in the back of the dining area. It appears that the Tugboat had fallen on a time of transition. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and was pretty happy with our order. Two of us split a three piece fish and chips and a side of calamari strips. I was worried that everything would be greasy and heavy but that was not the case! The fish pieces were pretty big and the batter was pretty light. The calamari strips were also reasonably light. The chips were just okay, but the tartar sauce was pretty solid. Orders are prepared after order so expect a good 10-15 minutes for your food. I will definitely be back. read more

I honestly wish I had just gone to Long John Silver's instead. The prices at Tugboat Fish & Chips were absolutely ridiculous for the tiny portions they serve. For roughly $27, this is what you get: a small portion of food that looks nothing like what you'd expect for the price. I've had larger meals at fast-food restaurants for half the cost. The value is terrible, especially considering the quality of the food. Speaking of quality, everything tasted like it came straight out of a freezer and into a fryer. The fish, fries, and sides lacked any freshness whatsoever. The oil tasted old and overused, leaving everything greasy and heavy instead of crispy and flavorful. On top of that, the food had almost no flavor. I found myself reaching for every condiment available just to make it edible. The service didn't help either. The woman working the counter was extremely rude and impatient when I asked simple questions about the menu. If customers are spending that much money, the least they deserve is basic courtesy and customer service. The restaurant itself was also disappointing. The moment I walked in, it felt dirty and uninviting. The dining area looked neglected, and it immediately made me question my decision to order food there. Between the outrageous prices, tiny portions, bland frozen-tasting food, rude service, and dirty atmosphere, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. I left feeling ripped off and regretted spending my money there. I won't be returning, and unfortunately I can't recommend it to anyone. For nearly $27, I expected quality food and decent portions. We ordered the calamari and chips, and Oyster with chips. Both 17.99 each! I had high hopes but was quickly disappointed. It took a whopping 45 Minutes to get our food. The food arrived and it was clearly battered and fried, but the quality of food was meh. Nothing exciting nothing tasteful. Just frozen fish and chewy calamari and old oysters. We counter ordered the Combo A and C, and a 3 and 2 fish dinner, lumpia, and fried zucchini. Took a short bit to cook, but food was relatively quickly. Portions were large and piping hot. Batter was thin but crispy, seafood tasted very fresh, the zucchini didn't get soggy, and the lumpia was tasty. We received lemons on request, and tartar, cocktail, malt vinegar, ketchup, and sweet chili sauce in squeeze bottles. Food was excellent, no fishy taste, and like I said, large portions. ZERO STARS if I could give it. We used to eat here all the time with no issues--until this past weekend. As usual, we brought McDonald's for our youngest kids because they don't like seafood, and one of my children has a serious seafood allergy. This has never been a problem before.This time, we were told we couldn't have outside food at all. The wife already looked irritated with my kids (12 & 6 yr old) when they sat down while we tried to order the food. We calmly explained that our kids don't eat seafood and that one is allergic, but the employees refused to accommodate us and wouldn't serve us. We even offered to eat outside but still refused to serve us. Absolutely no understanding or compassion.What's even worse is that this place clearly does not cater to people with food allergies, which is unacceptable. After arguing back and forth, we didn't even feel safe eating there anymore--who wants to risk their food being messed with after that kind of hostility?Really disappointing because we used to love this place, but we will never be coming back. Different owner, Tried to go here today, I usually doordash it but today I just want to get their tartar sauce and the Asian B!÷(# at the counter charged me $5 for 2 sauces when on their menu it clearly said large $3. By the way nothing against Asian cuz I am one but not the greedy kind. I asked her why she would charge me $5 when it's supposed to be $3 like it said on their menu. She said because I didn't buy anything else so she's raising the price. Then she voided my order since I questioned her and refuse to sell me one. This is why this business is going down the drain. The nice lady helped me at the counter and also brought me my food when it was ready. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered the 2 pieces of fish with fries/chips. It came with 2 tartar sauces. The tartar sauce is very garlicky by itself. I did not mind at al as I enjoy garlic. I mixed it with some ketchup at home to make like a red ranch sauce. The fish was excellent. I was overcharged by the elderly man at the counter but didn't bother asking for a refund. I honestly felt bad and wasn't sure he'd even know how to process it. What really put me off, though, was watching him sneeze into his hand, then head straight into the kitchen and come back out with food for other customers without washing his hands. That was pretty gross. The food didn't make up for it either. For $34 for fish, scallops, and a bottled Coke (including the overcharge), it was super bland, overpriced, and nothing like proper London-style fish & chips. The fries were clearly frozen and fried in the wrong oil, altogether. While I was eating, another customer also noticed she'd been overcharged. When she brought it up, the man insisted it was "tax," and she eventually just said, "forget it." I knew that was coming and the reason why I didn't ask for a refund on the overcharge. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the elderly man did politely thank customers as they were leaving. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I can say. Bummer. Tried this place today for lunch. It was good, but not great. Once piece of fish and four prawns was $18.99 (Back in 2016 it was $8.65). The portion on the one-piece combo and prawns were decent. I think the batter could use some seasoning. However, it's fresh and cooked to order and was not greasy at all. My friend got the same thing as me and she thought the same. She did order a side of mushrooms. They were huge and okay. As others mentioned the restaurant does smell like grease, but they are frying seafood all day. We sat outside. First time here, we ordered at the counter and snagged a booth. The clientele seem like regulars and skews older. We both had the fish and chips, I ordered the 3 piece, my wife the 2. The servings are large, two pieces are definitely a good meal, and the prices are reasonable. However, the meal was just on the OK side for us. The batter seemed to be missing something, not sure what, that normally makes any fried food delicious. And the fries were thin and average at best.
