    Beef Chow Fun, really good!!!
    John R.

My wife and I really like the Chinese food here. So much so we come from Vallejo. The other day I ordered the beef chow fun and my wife ordered the Deluxe Vegetables. She doesn't like me taking pictures of her food, so no picture. The service here is so friendly and FAST! Place is comfortable and clean. My chow fun was delicious. Never have anything t don't like. There is parking in the back.

Always so yummy. Definitely in the rotation. Rock solid and consistent. You owe to yourself to come by and check them out. Always a good meal

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. We used to live down the street and were here all the time. Now we come from Discovery Bay for any special occasion, or if we happen to be in the area. The service is always great and efficient. The food is consistently awesome. We haven't delved into the wine list, but it seems extensive and we've seen the owner attending to interested people several times. The ambience is nice and they have a separate bar with a TV if you're stopping in for a drink and watching a game. There is a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant if the street parking in front is full.

Solid traditional Chinese food here. Large menu. Portions are generous and fresh vegetables. They use tender white meat chicken. Service was excellent! The mu shu chicken was my favorite. Note parking lot in back

Well, this is strange, I have been living in Walnut Creek for 16- years, this is my first time visit Yan's China Bistro. I always think it's a small place where service Americanized Chinese food. I am wrong! Parking can be a little tricky and that's the only thing I will be a little negative on the review. After finding the parking which is behind the building then there is nothing to complain about anymore. The place is very roomy. It might be an Italian restaurant before, all the decor are very nice. It has a full bar and the bar table is the old fashion one which you don't see many of this kind out there anymore. We ordered the lunch special, green bean chicken and sweet sour pork. I comes with choice of steam rice or fried rice and chicken corn soup. My son eats more so we ordered the full size Salt and pepper fish, super delicious! The service was super friendly and professional. Our water glasses always full without asking. This will be our local regular place for sure.

Avoid the sweet & sour pork. Was breaded, not sautéed ... so all the sauce was in the soggy breading

I had hoped that what I read from a 1-star Yelp review about having reservations, then finding out…read morethis restaurant is closed, was only a rare occasion. I did not even think to alert my friends about what I read because I thought after reading other Yelp reviews and looking up their Instagram posts with beautiful photos and people looking like they were enjoying this restaurant, that what was described in that 1-star review must have been a rare occurrence. Boy was I wrong because to my dismay when we arrived at their restaurant door last evening, it happened to us and I did not want to believe it, but all the evidence was there to show they were in fact, CLOSED. Two other customers and our group arrived at the same time in advance of our 6pm reservation time, only to see their door closed, lights off, with nobody inside. We were confused not only because we did not receive a message notifying us that their restaurant would be closed and our reservation needed to be canceled, but also because the customers who arrived when we did said they had booked their reservation yesterday, meaning the reservation system was still active. What's more is we did not see any signage on their door or windows about being closed, but instead we saw an EBMUD notice on the door stating water service payment was overdue, which we were not expecting to see upon our arrival. Our group needed to quickly figure out a plan B for our birthday celebration dinner, as our friend had planned and reserved The Library Social Club over a month ago. I dine at many restaurants and any time there needs to be a change or cancelation for any reason by a restaurant business, I have received an e-mail, a text, or a phone call alert, as a customer courtesy call, and I have at the very least, even seen hand written notes on restaurant doors and windows as signage alerting customers of their business being closed. Needless to say, we were disappointed and frustrated by this incident today. We drove from out of town to try this restaurant that was not even open when customers had reservations. Fortunately, our friend proposed a different restaurant that we could walk to and they sat us promptly upon arrival. We enjoyed their delicious food instead!

I was the first to walk in around 4ish in the afternoon (they have happy hour!) and I was offered a seat and water quickly. I decided to order the smoked salmon crudo and the gentleman (I think one of the owners?) gave me some pairing suggestions. While that was getting prepared in the kitchen, he offered me a tasting of another white wine on the house, which was so kind! In the picture below... it's most drunk haha but it was a nice amount to taste and sip on. That smoked salmon crudo is SO GOOD. The citrus adds a nice brightness, and I think there was a hint of honey used in the vinaigrette. I was pleasantly surprised and it's easily the best smoked salmon dish I've had in a while! The wine was excellent as well. I was only in for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half before I moved on, but I got to hear regulars come in and greet the owner like old friends. There's a really cool vibe here, with great music and decor, so I really wished I lived closer to visit more often! As I was leaving, I did chat with the gentleman again (complimented him/the wine bar) and he said he hoped that I would come again as he is trying to work with his partners to add more to the menu (the regulars that came in were asking after the gumbo and the brunch, which they were not serving at the time). I definitely hope to visit again and try those other menu items!

Fantastic drink. My friend tasted mine and ordered the same. The selection is the draw here. Whiskey lines the entire back wall, the rarer bottles sit behind wire-mesh locked cabinets, and there is a deep bench of tequila, beer on tap, and wine to round things out. One look at the shelves tells you they have the base for any drink you want. We split the Margherita flatbread, pesto, fresh mozzarella, and blistered cherry tomatoes, and it hit the spot as a drinking snack. The menu goes deeper than expected for a bar, with sliders, naan tacos, and charcuterie if you show up hungry. Service was good considering the staff-to-crowd ratio. Sevan stayed attentive the whole time and clearly knows his stuff. The vibe is chill and conversation-friendly, not too loud for the size of the room, with a bank of TVs toward the back if you want to catch a game. Logistics are easy. The bar sits a short walk from Pleasant Hill BART and parking in the area was no trouble. I've been a few times before and this visit confirmed why I keep coming back. For a high quality cocktail in the East Bay, this is the spot.

We tried a wide variety of dishes, and overall, there were some standout plates along with a few that fell short. *Grilled Korean Beef Skewers with Kimchi Fried Rice: The tender grilled beef skewers were glazed in a rich Korean gochujang sauce and served over kimchi fried rice bursting with bold, savory flavors. The kimchi added tanginess and varied textures that complemented the smoky beef beautifully. A very satisfying combination. *Lechon: The crispy pork belly came with rice cakes, pickled onions, and a sweet chili-soy glaze. The pork had a perfectly crisp exterior with a tender, slightly fatty interior. Its richness paired well with the rice and sweet soy glaze, while the pickled onions provided just the right amount of acidity to cut through the richness and balance the dish. *Paella: The saffron-infused rice was cooked in seafood stock with chorizo, PEI mussels, shrimp, white wine, romesco, and peas. The mussels were plump and juicy, while the shrimp had a satisfying snap and were well-marinated. The chorizo added a salty, smoky depth, and the rice was deeply infused with rich seafood flavor. One of the more memorable dishes of the meal. *Quesabirria Tacos: Organic corn tortillas were generously filled with tender braised beef, Oaxaca cheese, onions, and cilantro, accompanied by a savory consommé for dipping. The tacos were packed with flavorful meat, and dipping them into the well-seasoned broth elevated every bite. These were especially enjoyable with a big glass of Cabernet. *Pommes Frites: Unfortunately, the fries were fairly mediocre. The Kennebec potatoes tossed with olive oil, garlic, and parsley lacked the crispness and seasoning I'd expect from classic pommes frites. *Dessert Tasting for Two: The tasting included a mini soufflé, blondie, huckleberry bread pudding, and French apple pie. The chocolate soufflé was intensely chocolatey but unusually dense, more reminiscent of a flourless lava cake than a traditional airy soufflé. The blondie had a crunchy texture and tasted somewhat like lightly sweetened cornbread. The huckleberry bread pudding was moist and flavorful, although I would have preferred it served warmer. The French apple pie was sweet with a pleasantly crunchy texture. Wine We had the Bella Union by Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon, which paired particularly well with the richer dishes--especially the quesabirria tacos. Overall, the Korean beef skewers, lechon, paella, and quesabirria tacos were the highlights for me. There were a few weaker dishes, but the stronger plates made the meal an enjoyable experience.
