    Taco Tuesday
    Melissa S.

Oh no!!!! It could have been better. We are long time customers and things have gone down hill. Let's start with the free and easy way to make your customers feel welcome. I know that everything is automatic now. You don't talk to anyone when you order, but it would be nice to get a little acknowledgment that you've come to this establishment out of all the other establishments to eat. A nice welcome when you entered and a thank you for coming would have been a nice touch. Next let's discuss the fish and chips. When we first came here they were hand battered and delicious. Just the right amount of batter and crispness. Then one day they changed. It appeared that they had just bought the pre battered fish at Costco, I'm not knocking Costco as everyone loves a good bargain, but we came here for hand battered and it no longer appeared to be hand battered. They may have gotten too many complaints on that batch of fish, because now it's gone back to a more uneven but thicker batter. It's not as bad as the Costco ones, but it could be better. Something still isn't quite right. We miss the fish and chips they used to serve when they first opened, the one that was defiantly hand battered. And the chips were better back then, Now they are a bit on the limp side. A favorite of mine is the tilapia with the butter sauce. It was still good but a third of the portion was missing. I don't know if they've downsized all of their portions, but mine had been downsized. I don't think I'll be back. Always check your recipes before you pay and after you get your print out. We got double charged due to an error in the system and they were unable to fix it due to we already paid for the order. The bathroom sink in the Women's room is an issue. It's great they have a sign warning you the water is hot, but they need to do something about it because we still need to wash our hands and the water temperature can't be altered by the customer, but can be altered by the establishment. Please fix the temperature of the bathroom sink so we can wash our hands in a reasonable amount of warm/hot water. This used to be our go to place to eat in the shopping center when we make our monthly visit, but I've rethought this and we're going to have to find another restaurant.

This spot is cool. Nice to have a seafood spot nearby with a good variety of dishes. The Cajun shrimp tacos were bomb! The shrimp was plump, juicy and flavorful with a tiny kick. The fish & chips was alright. The flavor was good but the fish was a little chewy, like maybe it was over cooked. I loveee tomatoes so the tomato and feta side was a perfect refreshing side. The fire roasted corn was alright, a little bland and with the extra charge I would skip it next time. It's nice that they have a variety of sides to choose from to switch it up each time.

10 out of 10 would recommend. Listen this spot was so delicious. I was a bit taken aback because on first impression it gave a fast food restaurant with the series of self service kiosks. But once the food arrived I was genuinely impressed. I ordered the sea bass (10/10) with a side of the Brussel sprouts (7/10 a bit mushy but great flavor), coleslaw (4/10) and one shrimp skewer. I'm on a fitness journey and this is an excellent choice for dinning out. Each item had the calories affiliated for ease of counting your macros.

My husband ordered me food to go. I ordered Grilled shrimp with Sweet potato fries and kaleslaw. I like how the slaw was fresh and was not saturated with sauce like other coleslaws. The shrimp was delicious with the tartar sauce. it would be a little better with less salt, but it hit the spot for the me and my seafood craving. My daughter liked the sweet potato fries. I can't wait to go back. I wish there was a closer location to me!

Used to frequent California Fish Grill WAY BACK in high school when I lived in SoCal and there was a spot right down from campus and they offered the $2 Taco Tuesday deals. Upon eating here again a decade later, not much has changed overall. The spaces at multiple locations have similar feels, never too many customers at any point during the day that we have visited where there were not enough seats, and the menu is largely unchanged outside of pricing (although the Taco Tuesday deals when I looked them up do not offer the whole array of fish options anymore (swai, shrimp, catfish, salmon, etc.). bummer). The plate lunches are still a great option, especially if you utilize their app to get rewards or free add ons. Catfish, swai, salmon all are great grilled or fried options and of course you need to put on that garlic butter sauce that they are known for. The cajun I have tried and also really enjoyed. In terms of sides, their rice (that's similar to a rice pilaf but not sure if it's actually cooked like that), roasted zucchini, and fries are my go-tos.

I hadn't been here in a long time, so stopped while in the neighborhood. Arrived after the lunch crowd on a rainy weekday. Plenty of dine in tables and didn't have to wait long for food. Food quality is good. Happy to see a group meet-up occurring at one of the tables. Parking is a bit tricky since it's in a shopping center. Plan to park a little further out. Will definitely be returning when I'm in the neighborhood.

My food I had only ate one taco and a couple bites b4 going to the bathroom and food thrown out

So I just left.. pretty pissed off that they threw my food away when I went to the bathroom. I had a water bottle that they threw away too.. my drink was still halfway full. My plate was still Half full with the roasted corn, brown rice and I ordered two orders of chips that were STILL FULL I accidentally ordered two. I still had ONE shrimp left I had two side coconut shrimps and the guy who was wiping the tables down THREW my damn food away. When I came back I asked where my food was the guy said I threw it away it looked like it was done.. How is that when there was still a WHOLE coconut shrimp half of my chicken taco, half of my brown rice and roasted street corn and two little things of chips and avacado. So how did it look like I was done. My water bottle still had water in it and my watermelon mint drink was still half full. When the guy said he threw it away I asked why would you throw it away when there was still a lot of food?? Which he replied it looked finished? It looked finished with half the plate still full and a hole side of coconut shrimp. Then I let the manager know and he said he would make a whole taco. I declined because I paid over 20 something dollars and I still had a lot of food left over. Don't leave your food to go to the bathroom because it will get thrown out. Or leave some kind of note. I would of thought a plate that is still half full, drink half full and my water bottle would show a sign someone is still eating this... The food was good but I'm just so irritated that someone would just throw away a plate that was still half full and my water bottle. Maybe wait to see if someone comes back if you see the plate is still half full with a whole shrimp, rice and corn with both bowls of chips there...

My co-worker and I always have our traditional Lunch Delivery meals when we work a weekend together, so we opted to look around for a place that had fish and chips. After browsing around, we stumbled upon this place to try. Chips and Salsa: These were alright. The chips had a sort of seasoning to them, so they did show a different side of flavor. However, it was a bit too much for me, so it was leaning towards salty. The salsa options were just alright. Fish and Chips: This is the kids meals version, and not the normal plate. For a kids meal, it filled me pretty well at a reasonable price. The fish was crunchy and flaky and the fries were crispy. There was plentiful amount of both, so I throughly enjoyed this as a lunch. Overall, I can see myself from ordering here again.

This was my first time trying California Fish Grill and it did not disappoint at all! I got the swai fish with garlic butter, rice and fire roasted corn and it was so good! It was fresh and a nice size portion. Staff was friendly, I definitely will be back!

I am writing this to document a deeply concerning experience I had at California Fish and Grill on April 19, 2026, around 7:30 PM. I ordered the Dynamite Shrimp Salad and, unfortunately, discovered a worm or centipede in the food after having already consumed the majority of the meal. As someone who works in healthcare, this is not just a distressing situation; it is a significant health and safety concern. I spoke with the manager on duty regarding the incident. They requested that I send a photograph for them to attach to a corporate report and process a refund. While I appreciate that the manager acknowledged the issue and is taking steps to document it, the fact that this made it to a customer's plate is completely unacceptable. I am posting this to ensure the establishment is aware of this major lapse in quality control and to urge them to review their food preparation and inspection processes immediately. I hope this was an isolated incident, but this experience has severely impacted my trust in this location. Fish tacos with fries and zucchini
    Regina A.

The last time I was here was before the pandemic and I wasn't too impressed which is why I haven't been back since then. However, I went out to lunch with my parents and they wanted to come here. I got the fish taco combo which comes with two sides and a drink. The tacos were delicious, but the sides could have been better. The zucchini had no flavor and the fries were a bit stale. My parents enjoyed what they ordered which was the fish tacos as well, but with a side of sweet potato fries (extra fee) and side of beans. They also got the chicken taco, but the chicken was dry. Parking can be full in this plaza, but we found one pretty quickly. Just had to walk a bit. We ordered through a kiosk, but you could also place your order at the cash register. At the time, it seemed like they were updating their kiosks since tap to pay wasn't available. Overall the food was good and I would come again.

Im pleased to hear they do look into these things and try to make things whole. I've been to this restaurant a dozen times since working in alamo in the past. Last time I'm coming here. I placed a phone order for a REGULAR al pastor burrito earlier. The amount of meat was miniscule compared to the beans and rice BTW. When I got there they gal read the tag that had my phone order for a REGULAR burrito. I was charged $17 but with tax it was over $18. I called later in the day and the lady on the phone said the regular is 12.99. Im lactose intolerant so I don't do dairy which the super has. Anyways I find this business practice repulsive and will not be returning. I hope this review gets views and reconsider patronizing at this establishment. Huge thumbs down. They don't seem to value customers. I called them after finding out they did me dirty overcharging me. The employee told me the owner/management was out of town. I reached out to them on instagram in attempt to inform ownership/management of what is happening. The person responding on instagram told me they are out of town. I never got a follow up from them. Who knows if they actually investigated what happened because I didn't get a follow up. I could care less about the extra few dollars they took. If they have an employee intentionally overcharging then they need to correct it. It's simple as that. All the info is in the photo I included in the review if they choose to investigate.

As I entered, I eyed Cholita Linda, and since we had already eaten at the place near us, I knew what we wanted and would enjoy for our late lunch or early dinner... a Cubano! For those who might not know, a traditional Cubano sandwich is made with Cuban bread (a white bread loaf with a thin, crispy crust and a soft, airy inside. Usually, a moist palmetto leaf is placed on top of the dough before baking to create its signature split), Mojo-marinated roasted pork (slow-roasted in a marinade made of sour orange juice, garlic, oregano, and cumin), glazed ham (sweet, deli-style sliced ham), Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and yellow mustard. Of course, here in the US, the recipe is adjusted based on the location and available ingredients, but the core stays the same, which makes for a delicious sandwich. Cholita Linda's Cubano is made with pulled pork shoulder, black forest ham, mustard, pickles, aioli, and Swiss cheese on grilled French bread. Trust me when I tell you that it is a delicious version! Anyway, this location is very well managed and maintained. The staff are friendly and the place is clean and nicely kept. They have tables inside and outside the mall. On a warm day, you might prefer to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while you eat.

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.
