The pedicure was really good and the polish lasted a long time. My only complaint is that she kept trying to upsale me after I said no over and over again.Then tried to force me to get my eyebrows done.And after all was said and done she charged me an extra 10.00 to take off my existing polish and file my nails down.which she did not mention at the time! read more

I have been going to Tulip Nails for 20 years since I moved to Thousand Oaks. It is a family owned business and I feel so welcomed every time I go. Rose does the best eyebrow waxes...when I get my nails done I go here every time. So I decided to try this nail place out after a friend recommended it. I went twice and that is it! I'm already looking for a new nail place. The first time I went with Tammy super sweet lady. But she left my nails different lengths and when I asked her to correct them she seemed ok with it but only ran the file once on each one, but since they were different lengths to begin with they came out different lengths when she filed them again. I just left it alone just because I had just gotten off work and just wanted to go home and relax. The second time I went to tulip nails, I called before going to see if Tammy was there. The woman who answered said she wasn't there so I asked for Richard and again she said he wasn't there, so I told her ok id just come another day. She then told me that Tammy was there and to come in. I go in and I see Richard doing another clients nails which is fine cuz I wanted to see Tammy. As I'm looking at the different colors (gel) a lady approaches me and tells me to sit and wait for tony i let her know I was there for Tammy and she said she wasn't there! I let her know that I called and was told she was there! She proceeded to tell me that tony was very good. And I needed my nails filled bad! So I agreed to have him do my nails. As I'm still trying to decided on a color Richard asked me a question and I heard him differently. I thought he asked if I was just getting a fill when he asked if I was getting my toes done too. He seemed super annoyed that I didn't hear him the first time. Keep in mind there Are drills and music on. Anyway I finally make a decision on a nail color and sit with tony. He seemed more interested in his phone and kept pausing to look and reply to whomever was txting him, then when he asked if I wanted him to take the length down I said no just file a tad bit next thing I know he takes the length down and I now have short acrylic nails!!!! The gel isn't even I got an accent nail and it's super thick and lopsided! I hate when acrylics are thick because they look to "fake" this is just my personal preference. Also when I told tony that one nail was longer he told me that it was my fingers that were uneven lol I giggled and told him to please make it even he didn't look pleased but he filed the nail a little more I don't think I will be coming to tulip nails anymore. The staff can be rude, the employees kids are running around, they do have a large selection of gel tho! And they don't always listen to what you want and will proceed to tell you that their work is correct. Place could use some cleaning too. This is just my experience at tulip nails maybe you will have a better experience than I did . read more

Better late than never, my experience was from about 2 weeks ago. I had taken my neice to get a hair cut next door and figured i'd continue pampering her by getting our nails done at this location. when walking in they asked what we needed, when i told the lady i needed two pedicures and one full set she said "FULL SET?!" i asked if there was a problem and she said "YES, ITS LATE" .. they had an hour until closing so i was so unsure as to why it would be considered late AND its not like i was walking in for a FREE service? i pay and tip generously, always. at that point i should have just walked out but decided to stay. while the water was warming up for our pedicures i can hear is them speaking in their language back and forth to each other (which already is rude when they do that, just plain disrespectful) all i understood them back and forth saying is FULL SET so i knew they were talking about me. i felt extremely upset and uncomfortable, everyone was just giving my neice and i dirty looks. I went in to get my acrylics removed and a polish. I paid $17 (plus tip). The manicure itself was pleasant and I was happy with the result. However, it didn't last longer than 5 minutes. The nail polish simply never hardened. I don't know why, because it was an Essie color, which is usually a good brand. 8 hours after I left the salon, I was still getting sheet marks in the paint. I can only conclude that the primer and top coat they use must be absolute junk. It's a shame that they aren't willing to put in the money for the products they use. read more

I love this place. I started going to Tulip Nails 2 because it was the closest place to my house but now I go because it's home. If you're into nail designs please ask for Jenny. She's amazing and really friendly. I just got a pedicure and manicure done by her and I love it! The prices are reasonable and you can walk in just about any time and be helped right away. They also recently got new pedicure spa chairs and did some interior re-decorating. It looks very nice. I will continue to patron Tulip as long as I live in the area. read more

Best nail salon in TO. I live in Simi and just couldn't find a good nail salon with somebody I liked. My brothers girlfriend told me about Tulip Nails and to see the owner Richard. Long story short I will never be going to any other salon again !! Richard is the absolute best and will have you laughing the whole appointment. This review is long overdue. I've been going to Richard since 1999. I've moved around in these past 20 years but NEVER found a suitable replacement. I always would come back for Richard to fix my nails if I was currently not living near by. Well thank goodness I'm now close to the salon as he's the only person who can do them perfectly. I am VERY PICKY and have them changed constantly. Short, square, pointy, really long, gel, no gel- you get the picture. Richard just smiles as he knows how I am. I have been going to Tulip Nails for about 8 months now and love the acrylic work that Tami does. She's an artist and my french manicures are fabulous. I have a standing appointment as do the majority of the customers there. I observe the attention to detail that all the manicurists pay to their customers' nails. I overheard a discussion about a young lady who gave them a 1 star review because she could not get the person that she wanted to do her nails. Tulip Nails is always busy and the best way to get the person that you want to do your nails is to make a standing appointment. Otherwise, you may be disappointed. Don't let the 1 star fool you. best nails place ever! i just moved to T.O and it was hard for me to find a good nails salon in this area, i've been to all different nails salons around here but none of them can do my nails the way that i want. Until my friend recommended me to Tulip. The salon looks very clean and bright and the staffs are very friendly. I got a young girl did my gel nails and i got to say she is the best manicurist i ever had, she taught me into doing silver- french design which is very pretty. the polish always look evenly and shiny and perfectly look on my hands, i mean it never got on my cuticle b/c i'm very picky about that. too bad i forgot to ask for her name so i can make appointment. Can I give minus stars? I have been there 3 times prior and had pedicures that lasted a long time with no issues. Saturday I went there and a lady I had never seen before was performing my pedicure. At one point I asked if she knew what she was doing to another employee at the nail salon. I should have left when my feet started burning as I believe she put callous remover all over my feet. I now have what looks like cuts all over the my feet and I am in pain as I sit here writing this (2 days after the pedicure). I have to figure out how to turn this place in as I am positive this employee was not even licensed. read more

I think I was Richard & Lynn's first customer when they opened 17 years ago. They continue to introduce new products and methods to the salon. Most recently, I have had the Dipping Gel manicure and today, the latest in manicures, the Bio Sculpture Gel. This gel gives a natural look to your nails but you can choose any of the many colors the gel offers. It reportedly does not harm your natural nails and can last longer than the two weeks I usually need for a manicure. Kudos to Tulip for always bringing the latest methods to their customers. read more

NEVER AGAIN! For the past 8 years or so, I have chosen to get my pedicures here for the sheer convenience of not having to do it myself. The quality of service and cleanliness has diminished significantly over the years. The staff either doesn't speak English, or chooses not too. They also either don't understand English or choose not too. I bring this up specifically to illustrate what happened to me on 7/31/12. I had a coupon for a $13.99 Spa Pedicure. I showed the coupon upon entering and was directed to sit in a spa chair. When the staff member came over I showed her the coupon and said I wanted the service listed on the coupon (it only said Spa Pedicure). She then mumbled something while showing me the pedicure list. I restated that I wanted the coupon service. After a mediocre nail polish application and a simple flower design was completed I was presented a bill for $26! When I questioned how it could possibly be so much, the staff member mumbled, "You got number 2." Instead of causing a scene and raising my blood pressure, I quickly crumpled up the $26, hastily flicked it to the staff member, and left immediately. BTW, I figured I'd spend about $20 which would include a decent tip. There's a new nail salon a few doors down from Subway and I've heard good things about one near Trader Joe's. I recently moved nearby and loathe having to find a new pedi and waxing place. I went in for a desperation wax and was pleased. Although this place really has no luxuries and you even have to share a waxing room with another client, I have to say the waxing itself was quick, effective and inexpensive. The pedis, unfortunately, were also quick and inexpensive, but I had to get another somewhere else a week later. Oh well, it's good to have a backup for once I find a new "home salon." read more
