Went back almost 2 weeks after because my nails had grown out and I was kind of disappointed. I gave them a kind of complicated design and it just doesn't look right :( also was left with black polish and some other things on my fingers. I have been going to Tulip nails since High school. Every person does an amazing job. My favorite manicurist is Tammy, she does greet acrylic and gel, but I've been to server others and I'm never disappointed. They have a great selection of colors to choose from and they constantly add more so you're never stuck picking one out. I hate giving negative reviews but I'm still upset about my experience from Saturday. I have been going here over about two years and kept going back because it was so close to my house. 1. Every time I go the lady who does my nails is always in a bad mood. If I have someone else do my fill she gets upset and confronts me. 2. If she's gone one of the guys do it and they are even in a worst mood. Irritated when I ask questions and ignore my requests half the time. 3. If that's not bad enough the guys all take breaks during a manicure or pedicure to take a quick smoke outside so when they get back they smell like cigarettes after I wait. 4. My pedicure lady is so aggressive up selling other services I keep telling her "no thank you" and she keeps going. She will start massaging my shoulders after I already told her "not today". 5. The reason Saturday was enough was because the pedicurist took a tool out to work on my feet and it had left over skin from another customer. Omg right!!!! Then she tried using unclean clippers, file and cuticle pusher that was also used. The owner RICHARD and his family are kind and welcoming but their employees are not up to par. MMA has been BANNED in the nail industry for over 20 years but is still being used because it is cheap! You, as the consumer, must look for all these warning signs and ask to speak to a manager before having a service done. Also, have them show and explain to you what products are being used in their salon. If they cannot do this, do not have your nails done there or you could have very serious consequences. Other nail artist around the area look at the acrylic from tulips and refused to take it off because of fear of hurting you! BEWARE!! Absolutely wish I could give 0 stars if I could. I went in for a pedicure and an acrylic set with two other friends. The guy who did my acrylic set did an awful job.. so badly my nail beds are permanently ruined and I also got an infection because the tools they used were not sanitized. It wasn't just the work ethic put into my nails that was disturbing, but the fact my acrylic nails were also crooked and started to peel! Actually peel! My friends nails also started to peel! One of the nail techs who looked at the nail polish I chose said "this is bad nail Polish, too thick" as the nail tech who did my acrylic set was completely finished with a second layer.. I felt as if they were rushed too.. Definitely will not be returning or recommending Tulip nails to anyone read more

Definitely the best nail salon in Thousand Oaks. Came in today for a full acrylic set - took maybe 45 minutes at most (quick compared to most places) and was $28! That's unbeatable. Tammy did my set and was super helpful - and my nails are perfect. read more

I've been here a few times and the service was fine, nails fine, nothing great, but not bad either, but today I went in and I feel I need to get this out there-- My technician was nice and conversational, but difficult to understand. I went in expecting a $25 pedicure and when she brought my bill it was $46. When I inquired why it was this total, she said it was for a salt scrub and massage. Well, that's fine except I never asked for it. I specifically told her I wanted a plain gel pedicure. The entire time I sat there she was telling me I needed my brows waxed, then she painted a flower on my toe that I didn't want. Omg, her persistent up selling was annoying and then she ended up just doing what she wanted anyway, not I want I asked for. My nails look fine, that's why I gave them three stars, but I won't be going back... ever. read more

I went in to get a gel manicure for $23 and let me tell you that my nails look like it was done for free. The application and the finish look like it was done by an amateur. The gel is uneven, gloppy, and simply put - awful. I told the manicurist about it and all she said was that that's the way it dries and my that my pinky nail (which was the worst of the bunch) was just small and needed to be thicker. I'm not one to argue and I had to be somewhere afterwards so I just left without giving a tip. Will not be going back to this place. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because they were busy and took me in without an appt. and they didn't talk/gossip too much. Update: It's been 4 days and my gel manicure looks worse than if I would have just gotten a regular manicure. I would give this place zero stars if I could! One of the gels peeled off completely and the rest of my nails are chipped and peeling already. This is just beyond ridiculous. What a waste of money. read more

At first I went to Tulips because it was close to my house and was the only nail salon my family went to....but now I see there is no reason to go anywhere else! I never make an appointment to get my acrylics done, so the most I had to wait before a seat opened up was 20 minutes...but waiting is very rare unless it's one of their busy days! The employees are very nice and fast. My mom personally loves coming in early morning every other weekend to have the owner Richard fill her nails however she wants them done. I've only gone to two other nail salons and have regretted each time I didn't go to Tulips. Their prices are also very reasonable which is definately another plus! read more

New to the area and a friend, who has been coming here for years, invited me to join her. They were very nice, very friendly however they didn't do the greatest job. My cuticle areas need a lot more cutting than they did, but I was okay with that at first. However it's been about a week since I got them done and they already are chipping look like crap. The money I spend getting my nails done is about the only spa type thing I do for myself regularly. And I'm used to with the gel lasting at least a month-this is a week and it's already done with. I am very disappointed. The toenail polish was mine and it has never chipped like this before so I can only imagine I was their basecoat or topcoat. As far as the gel; well the whole thing was theirs and it had been starting to crack and chip & now it just looks horrible. :( read more
