I had seen another photo on Yelp where they looked a lot crispier and were shaped differently, so not sure if I just got unlucky, but the sandwich more than made up for the fries in this case. I really can't say enough positive things about the torta. And even though the torta was fantastic and I gave it a 5/5, I definitely want to come back for those tacos. Three tacos plus rice for $18 is a pretty great deal, and the tacos really look incredible. I had friends visiting from another country who came to run the Boston Marathon, and I wanted to take them somewhere memorable. After reading reviews, I chose Tulum, expecting they'd be impressed by both the food and the atmosphere. It was my first visit as well. The restaurant is very small--only about five tables and a small bar. We arrived a little after 8:30 pm, and once seated, I noticed a sign on the table stating that dining time is limited to 90 minutes due to the size of the space. I explained to the server that it was our first time there and that my friends might need a bit more time, as Mexican cuisine is not something they're very familiar with, and I would need to help explain some of the dishes. Unfortunately, we felt rushed throughout the entire meal. The server checked on us every few minutes, repeatedly asking if we were "all set," attempting to clear plates while we were still eating, and creating a sense of pressure rather than hospitality. At the end of the meal, we asked for the check, and it was simply left on the table. I placed my card down, but not inside the check holder, as my friends were still taking their cards out to split the bill. The server immediately returned, picked up my card and the check without confirming, which felt quite rude. I had to stop him and explain that we would be splitting the payment. While he did apologize, it did not feel sincere, and overall communication was difficult. I understand that language barriers can happen, and I'm more than willing to repeat myself or be patient. However, basic manners and attentiveness to guests' comfort should not be compromised. Constantly rushing diners, attempting to clear plates prematurely, and handling a guest's payment method without confirmation is not acceptable. Music was extremely loud making it hard to have a conversation. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

Inside, the vibe is warm, vibrant, and welcoming, with friendly bartenders and staff who make you feel right at home.
