We ordered one 12 piece bites (wimpy) for the kids, one OG hot and one OG stupid hot. The Stupid hot (mine) was very very spicy, which I appreciate but the sandwich severely lacked seasoning. It was just one dimensional - spicy. It needed salt snd flavor. I had very high expectations based on reviews but it was just ok. It was huge and filling though. Love that this place opened up on lake Austin blvd! The covid procedures are great here - we sat outdoors, the servers all wore masks, you scan a QR code to see the menu on your own phone, etc. Feels very safe. But FRIED CHICKEN is what it's about here. And especially the bone in chicken. Don't bother with the boneless tender bits- they weren't anywhere near as good. I got the dark two piece, and usually I would think that two isn't enough but the portions are LARGE. Especially that thigh piece, must've been from a thicccc chicken. Super juicy too! I got the mo' hot (third level), but probably should've just gotten the second level. The collard greens were fine (slightly in the salty side for me, esp as the chicken sauce provides a good amount of sodium already), but that Mac n Cheese was fantastic! A friend of mine said this is the place to go so there already were high expectations. So, we took some friends who were visiting from out of town. I got the medium hot I think. I think I'm being a little harsh with my rating and maybe I didn't get the right thing or I didn't get a hot enough level, I don't know. But I wasn't amazed by the food. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad. I still ate it but I wanted to be wowed after hearing so much about this place and I wasn't. I got the tenders, they are nice big pieces but they need to be more seasoned or marinaded for longer to really get those flavors through. The fries were great and the comeback sauce was good. I'd heard so much hype about Tumble 22, so when I tried it, I was very excited. Honestly, I thought it was just okay. The fried chicken was good, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I ordered the mac & cheese plain, which was a bit underwhelming. I think I missed out on the full-flavor experience by not ordering the dirty Mac. Also, as a big ranch girlie, I wasn't blown away by their ranch. Overall, I thought it was good, but I'd say it didn't quite meet the expectations everyone set for me. So I've always gone to the burnet location for my tumble22 fix but I decided to swing by this place when I was visiting my friend who happened to live right down the street. The quality is the same but the parking was awful. Hence the 4 stars versus 5 at the other location. I ended up doing street parking after the lot was full and passed a bunch of no parking signs. Parking wise, definitely way less convenient than the burnet location. Food was great as always though. I never left a review on the buttermilk pie and I felt that it's a must. It's the most amazing pie ever and I don't even like pies!!! But yes, the Nashville hot chicken is delicious as well as the Mac and cheese. I'd heard coworkers speak favorably about T22, so today, hubby and I gave it a visit. Most said they like the different heat levels available. We started with the deviled eggs. Very nice. Mild. That was quick followed by an order of Szechuan fries. OMG ya'll delicious. We both got the Cobb salad with tenders at the " 'Mo" heat level. The Cobb is generously loaded and is very reasonably priced. Seems to be just under jalapeno, very nice and zippy. Hubby added Dirty Mac and reports "delicious " and was happy with the beer selections. Now the down side, there is very limited parking unless you park next door. FINALLY! In summary, the chicken was good, the collard greens were decent, could've been warmer, the fries were cold and service was virtually non existing. I was a little disappointed because it's not the same piece of chicken you get in the sandwich. Instead it's two chicken tenders + the Cob salad. I highly recommend ending off your meal with their homemade pies; the chocolate chip pecan pie was one of the top 3 pies I've had in my life! We didn't make a reservation and just stopped by for Saturday lunch and waited for only about 10 min. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. There are also benches that you can sit on while you wait for a table. After sitting down, the menu can be found from a QR code on the table. Our waitress was really quick in coming and asking what we wanted to eat. We ordered the O.G. sandwich at the spice level cluckin' hot, which is the second spiciest. They have 6 different levels of spice that you can choose from. NOT GONNA LIE-- cluckin' hot level is already really really hot and I would consider myself to have a pretty good spice tolerance. It was actually hard to eat the whole sandwich and you start to feel it after a few bites. We were told by the waitress that the breading on the chicken had ghost pepper powder. I really enjoyed the experience of challenging my spice tolerance more than the sandwich lol but it was still very fun. My sister chose to go one step further and get LITERALLY the spiciest on the menu - stupid hot. It was made with concentrated ghost pepper. THIS ONE WILL BURN SLOWY AND REALLY BAD. BE CAREFUL. I would really only recommend eating this sandwich as more of an experience, instead of for food. BUT THIS TIME 4/27 was incredibly terrible, it left the impression that they make a bunch of chicken in the morning and reheat it to cope with the crowds they may get, both my chicken OG sandwiches were stale and had that microwave taste to them, what was new is this also applied to my szechuan fries that I got, they were for sure old and made earlier in the day, i wouldn't be surprised if it's just carry over chicken and fries from the day prior.. The OG chicken sandwich is like no other sandwich, the bread combines so well with the chicken, the chicken is crispy and you had options on the chicken spice flavor. The chicken bites are your basic bites but i got them HOT which gave more flavor. The dirty Mac n cheese i highly recommend!! So cheesy and flavorful.
